Thank you for mentioning that people have better things to do than bringing their vehicle to a shop or dealer. I've been told so many times, there's nothing wrong with your vehicle or can't replicate the noise that I HATE going to the mechanic or dealer more than the dentist. Wish you guys could open a shop around me, I would 100% take all my cars to you
I have to say, that when you were talking about how the person probably doesn’t want to be spending their time having the car checked out.. that has literally been the main reason that I have started to do things myself for my vehicles. Thank you for the videos y’all do, I really find it extremely helpful!
I'd be honored to have Sue work on my car. As it just so happens, I've got a squeaky rear suspension issue... which I'll take a look at myself first, thanks to this video.

This didn’t end up being the video I needed to see, but you were just so good at explaining everything that I ended up watching all of this for no real reason! Thank you!
Old video, but I love Sue's response to her techs "these people got better stuff to do then drop their car off here, keep looking". 100% true, no matter the years of experience I have ran into mechanics that think for some reason customers just like to bring their cars into a shop. Doesn't make any sense, first most shops now charge for diagnosing a car. Second, no one wants to see a mechanic that badly, I guess a lot of mechanics think they are Fabio or something. Third, customers got better stuff to do then try to get you to look at their car for no reason. Customers got jobs, lives and other much more funner stuff to do. Mechanics with these types of attitudes are exactly why DIYers are growing in numbers.
I wish you were my mechanic. You definitely know what you're doing. Too many lazy and inexperienced mechanics over here. 1A Auto should open a warehouse in Canada too, I'd order all my parts from you guys too.
The lady in this video is the reason I subscribed to this channel. She is not only thoroughly knowledgeable, but she's also a great teacher, and has a great sense of humor! Thank you all for these videos! 👍
I LOVE this lady !!! 😍 Would trust her hands down and wish we lived near her for our vehicles. Thank you ... uploads are the next best thing. So many tips.
This!💯💯💯 Have been dealing with some kind of suspension noise in the front end and have taken my car at least 5 times to the dealer because it is at the tail end of the warranty. They started with one strut, then replaced the other. Still making the noise. Then I got on the ground in the driveway and found a broken seal on the drivers side ball joint. Got that replaced and still hearing the noise. Beyond frustrated with the dealership because I feel like they are not being anywhere near as thorough as these videos are. Feel like pulling my hair out since as yes it has been a major inconvenience waking up extra early to drop off the car and having my spouse take me on a 45min one way commute to work as I am a new small business owner. Then cutting days short to hear they arent finding anything wrong or cant reproduce the noise is super upsetting. Wish there was a 1A Auto garage I could take my car to instead.
Love this video, not only for the information it teaches me, but also the confidence in knowledge, it's inspiring to me, it's the type of employee I want to become 😆 (even we're in totally different field, but the work ethic is what I mean)
Very good video. Very good presentstion, explaination and professionalism. Kudos. Nothing worse than "nothing wrong with it" or "I don't hear it" or "it's supposed to sound like that"...
I'm not sure of there name but the person in this video seems to be a great mechanic they really seem to know what to look for I really enjoyed them hopefully you use them in more videos.
I don't understand the first thing about cars, but this was like watching Sherlock Holmes at work! Love seeing the thought process layed out in real time.
Great video, who would think? Could u guys do a video on toyotas 1st alignments, how to install camber bolts, front AND rear, anything ELSE we need installed. Can we anti seize bolts before install. What products are best to use. Do u recommemd TWO bolts per wheel? Thnx!
Great video. I really like that you are honest and explained the procedures & how to check for the possible problems. One of my tire area's is jingling & that one time you did what you did may be my issue. I use to work on cars my father was a mechanic & he had me under the hood & car when I was 16 yrs old. So I could do the basics to start off with. Then with my husband he had me working on our cars and a race car. So thank you so very much
Another Great Video on figuring out the noise. I WISH YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS AS KNOWLEDGEABLE ON HOW TO SATISFY A CUSTOMER. LIKE YOU SAID MAYBE THEY WEREN'T TRAINED RIGHT BUT I THINK THEY JUST DONT KNOW ANY BETTER!!!!
Great info. Thanks. I have a "thump" noise at low speeds when releasing the throttle (FWD manual) in 1st or 2nd gear, or when engaging the cluth after shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. I think it is the friction plate of the clutch (springs compress all the way, and 2 plates just hit). Because I have changed thelover engine mount, and it is not that. The left tie rod end was bad, so I changed both. The rest is good. Only the CV joint on the left semi-axle is making cluning noise when turning sharp left under throttle, but I don't think that is what is also making the thump noise.
I have this exact car and it makes a heavy clunking sound in the rear when going over bumps. It sounds like it's coming from the tailgate but I've never been able to isolate it. I had my brother seat in the back and try to spot the noise but it seems pretty elusive. I rebuilt the entire rear suspension as soon as I bought the car. I can't remember if it had that noise before because the entire damn car was one big ball of noise. Lol! I did plenty of work on it and now it runs like clockwork except for this last bit of noise that is driving me nuts! Pardon the pun.
Watched this video and had a go at trying to diagnose the horrible racket coming from the back of my 2007 Hyundai Accent: • stuff in the cargo area? nope • loose spare tire? nope After putting the mat back down for the spare tire cover, I noticed a bolt laying there that I didn't see before. I looked around for where it could go and didn't see anything initially, so I put it in my pocket and closed the hatchback door... something didn't sound right. I went to open the latch - something didn't FEEL right. Opened the door and looked up at the latching mechanism and it was missing a bolt... the one I just found. The other bolt holding it was VERY loose as well. A few minutes and blue thread lock later and the latch was sorted. As it turns out, that latch was also the cause of all the racket I was hearing as I drove the car... the last thing I expected the cause to be lol.

Great video pal, I’m at a loss, I’ve got a Astra H 08 plate, been in garage 3x in those times it’s had rear springs, then drive shafts, then lower control arms and drop links…. Paid 3x and guess what banging still there more when slow and on straight roads. Can it be a shock?? I can’t think of anything else I’m so fed up. I’ve paid so much money for parts obviously didn’t need doing
I have a Dodge charger had rotors pads replace now experiencing a rattle noise when driving over bumps humps on the road rattle noise sound likes its on driving side so I check the brake housing calipers passenger side is tight but the driver side has movement like something it's screwed properly you think That's the issue I never had that problem until I had them replace parts
Had to find my broken front left coil myself, dealer wouldn't even give the time of day. Had front struts replaced with quick struts (bad choice) but now they bind, & now something In the rear is loud. Guess I'll be chasing that noise next. Lol
the bed of my pickup seems to creek only in winter on very cold days. I suspect its the rubber bushings where it mounts to the frame. I was told WD40 helps. Your thoughts?
I have changed the control arms and the CV axle on my Honda Civic 2014 LX the noise was coming from the control so I changed them. They were warned out old put the new ones in, but it’s still making these noises. What should I do?
I have mercedes benz GLC 250D premium AMG Line. It is making clunk/knock noises over a rough road from the rear end inside the boot. After a diagnostic from the local garage, they assumed it was a shock absorber or something in the suspension. I couldn't find out yet. Any solution, please?
I have 2008 Mazda 3, 2.0. When I start to reverse or acc I hear a clunk coming from the Center of the vehicle. I don’t hear it going over bumps. Just starting moving forward or backwards. Is there possible anything you can give me to look towards when I go and do my oil change in a couple of weeks? It would be much appreciated. Thanks. Much love from Canada.
Now only If we had a road test after tightening down the spare tire. I'd be impressed! Heard about the noise went away without replacing the rear shocks... but all in all very nice video and love all the group at 1A Auto! And by the way some customers don't want to hear that it was just their spare tire. They would rather you put parts on it and have fix the problem. Some customers, most customers love when you fix their car with no parts! Talk about a customer for life. Wrench on folks 🔧 607
Got my wheel bearing assembly replace recently as well as brakes. However still have a low volume squeaking sound when driving not when breaking or turning. Anyone maybe know what it is?

I'd be honored to have Sue work on my car.
As it just so happens, I've got a squeaky rear suspension issue... which I'll take a look at myself first, thanks to this video.
I agree with you about Sue. My van took 4 trips to my local Chevy dealer for them to find and fix the noise.
Well said, this is why I order parts from you guys. This is what a doctor looks like for cars.

Hello Ma'am I am experiencing a rattling noise from rear right shock absorber, what could be the Issue?
Anytime I'm looking at a vehicle I always do the look, listen, feel method...... sometimes that's the easiest way to diagnose a noise in the vehicle
Correct me if i'm wrong, but you just did a "Rear Caster Alignment". Without the Alignment rack lol
Excellent
