I really appreciate that he isn't describing the sound, he's showing when it makes the sounds so you can identify the noise it makes when it's that kind of problem. The biggest thing that annoys me about trying to figure out what's wrong with my car is that it can be one noise but different people has different ways of describing it. Sends me over the fekin moon.
I just fixed my daughter’s car in less than an hour based on your video. Thank you. Local mechanic was trying to scam me and said it would be labor intensive and cost about $2,000. Wish I could shake your hand.
Ouch! Yes it happens! 330 for links and bushings? Its never fun paying for repairs but thats not too horrible. Depending on the cost of parts you could have saved some money for sure. But 330 is ball park. $2000 ☝️is wayy too high (most likely) 😀
@@EasyFixShaun I left a comment on your longer video about this and was wondering if you could possibly take a listen to mine. It sounds identical, even down to the shake and sway test. Thanks!
@@thatgirl89 Sorry for the delay. You video sounds very likely that you have a sway bar bushing or link loose. I would check the steering and suspension for other loose components at the same time to be sure nothing related and loose is missed. I hope that helps 😃🔧
Dude. Thank you SO much. My baby momma car took a crap and was thinking it was wheel bearing or cv axle… this guy deserves a RUclips award because this video was better than what we PAY to watch on tv nowadays. Keep up the hard work man. Thank you for the info and legit help!!!! Protect this man at all costs!!!!!!
The Moog stabilizer end link I replaced 5 years ago in 2018 on the passenger side has started clunking again, while the OEM ones on the driver side is still working fine, 13 years in service. Go figure. Not sure what is causing the passenger side one to keep going so frequently. Is Moog one of the economy brands mentioned that will go on a regular basis? Though it said in the video it would make no real difference, I didn't grease them since installation despite the availability of the zerk fittings. Don't know if it might have helped any if I did grease them periodically.
straight to the point. stayed on topic. multiple examples, scenarios, tests, view angles etc. no bs. no life story. fast pace. when we are dirty and miserable these are the videos we can only hope to find and damn is it rare. THANK YOU
@@EasyFixShaun Hi 👋 question I need this done on a 2011 Chevy Malibu bushings and links is this a hard and expensive job?? What am I looking at just for labor thanks hope you get back to me
really appreciate the *multiple* verbal and visual descriptions of the problem along clear audio and graphics confirming exactly where the issue is and what it sounds like under varied conditions. you're onto something here with this method of explaining things to humans.
3 months of constant knocking and clunking. Didn't want to get charged garage fees so bought some of these for £15 a pair, fitted them myself and job fixed. Thanks for the video 👍
Thank you bro! You are the best man!) I have the same bad noise because I have to change my front links stabilizer) In 3 days new ones will arrive and I will change them. Sorry for my bad English, I am from Russia)
A friend of my son just brought his car over to my home garage. Had a suspicion that this is what the issue was. Just like you said it made a hell of a lot of noise. Good video and right to the point!
OMG I am so glad you were using a 3rd gen Honda crv model to demonstrate a bad sway bar link. As an 07 crv owner experiencing similar issues, this video is a godsend.
Dude, you literally just saved me. The sway bar link was not tightened enough after doing your diagnosing test. That was the clunking noise. Thank you so much. 🙏🙏😭
that is EXACLTY the noise my car is making, thank you so much for this sir! one shop told me it was my suspension and was gonna cost 2000$ to replace >:(, now i know what i need to tell other shops, how much it should cost, and how serious the problem is! thank you so much!!!
Glad to help! The sound can be mimicked from other components sometimes but my sound ended up being the sway bar links. They are a common failure point also. Hopefully that is all you have going on 😃🔧
Thank you so much, for making this video! I noticed my car sounded like it was just going to fall apart this morning out of nowhere, turning or going over bumps. I panicked ran to the mechanic, he said it’s just your swaybar it’s safe we will fix it in two weeks. It just sounds bad. I didn’t think he knew what he was talking about, I know he’s the expert I’m not it just makes such a scary noise. Seeing your video I know he’s right now, and I need to start trusting the experts more.
do you wonder why chapters are not showing in this video? you must have timestamp 00:00 and NOT 00:01. this is strange why RUclips enforces this, but I had the same issue and 100s of my videos have now chapters. Thank you for the excellent video.
dude you rock. i just changed both of my control arms out because upon inspection, it seemed like the bushings or ball joints could’ve caused these problems. now im 99% sure of what i should’ve replaced. not mad that i fixed the wrong problem first, but it’ll be a load off my mind to not hear that clunking anymore.
I replaced my 2018 Jeep compass OEM links with MOOG steel links. Grease-able part, easy to do. I Figured my ball joints must be failing now as I have a clunk again. I didn’t know they (aftermarket links) have such a short lifespan until your video. Well done, great explanation. I’m going back to OEM again.
Yes you could have failed links again, or it could be a new clunk so you will want to check into those things. Hopefully it is just a simple link swap. Can't go wrong with OEM. Maybe someday the aftermarket parts will close the gap to OEM stuff 😃
@@EasyFixShaun I’ve had the vehicle since new. The front links failed at less than 15k miles and were replaced under warranty. The service manager said they “keep a box of them on the shelf.” The replacement OEM links made it to over 100k. They must’ve made some improvements. Going to see if the dealership will sell me some OEM fronts today. Once again, thanks for the great tutorial.
Dude. Seriously. I have NEVER EVER watched a video so well made, thorough and incredibly education/insightful as yours. Most of these car symptom videos I see are so useless they might aswell delete them. Seriously! You should be very proud of yourself!
Oddly enough, I got on here to brush up on my boats power steering info since I’m about to be working on it and saw your pic and caption and said “THATS IT” as to what I needed to do on my truck. The driver’s side just started “popping” but my joints and everything all seemed good after a quick glance. Saved me the hassle of pulling the wheel off to tear down and find the problem. Thanks!!!
For those dealing with rust, I suggest trying to lubricate the bolts and leave it for a few hours, even overnight. Then try to remove the bolts. Cutting is always risky.
By far the best, most clear and understandable tutorial video I believe I have ever seen- and you can trust me, because I identify as a full fledged youtube mechanic. The patience level on this guy is unreal, and if he has any children- they may not complain about Dad under no circumstances whatsoever. Great job Sir! Definitely subscribed a new follower today.
Thank you for this well made video !! In the list of symptoms you could add also the vibrations when braking. I had problems on my car, while braking I could feel big vibrations in the steering wheel, but I had not other noises. At first I suspected the disc brakes, then the pads, changed everything, still there.... Until one day when driving I heard a big noise while taking a turn. Found out my sway bar link had broken. I did not know what it was until then otherwise I would have checked it sooner ! I have been very lucky as the breaking of the sway bar link didn't damage anything else. After replacing it (and ofc having to saw it on one side, as the boltd was seized....) the vibrations where gone !
You are welcome. I am glad you figured out your problem. The links are in use so much while driving they can make noise at pretty much any time. Some are harder than others to diagnose, but usually a simple shake test will locate links that are obviously loose. Thanks for the comment I am glad yours are now silent 😃🔧
Excellent video - thanks. You've confirmed my suspicions about my problem. Due to illness, i'm no longer able to work on my own vehicle (having done most repairs myself all my life). Last June 2023, i had a new right-hand side front coil spring, top strut mount and drop link fitted to my 2012 Ford Focus by a garage, following my MOT test. In September, having only driven around 300 miles since having the suspension repaired, i had a new washer pump fitted to the same side as it was on its last legs and I noticed that the drive-shaft boot was splitting, so i decided to take it to the same garage to have a new boot or shaft fitted (knowing how hard they can be to get off sometimes) and at the same time i asked to have a new lower swing arm fitted as the ball-joint was ever so slightly worn. Normally, i'd have changed everything on both sides, but money was an issue, so i decided to settle for just the right side for now. What a nightmare. I picked up my car, only to find it was knocking its head off, so i took it back to the garage. They decided the front strut was broken, the 3 month old top mount was destroyed, the new drop link was broken and a 4 month old track rod end was bent (what???? a track rod end bent??, never in my 57 yrs have i seen that). Having had everything replaced again, i reluctantly paid £525 and collected my car. Just 3 months after, it started knocking again and i am reluctant to drive it. I now have to pay again to find out what is causing the knocking, but your video suggests it is the drop link, which has done about 800 miles. It's the last time i take my car to a small garage. Halford's autocentres may be expensive, but they use genuine Ford parts and the work is guaranteed, saving hassle and money in the long term.
Yup oem parts may solve your problem. I have seen similar scenarios so many times. You get what you pay for. I have been there too and tested economy stuff because it looks so similiar and is way cheaper. It seems I get burned more times than not. With oem parts you are done with the problems. Sorry you are having trouble. hang in there 😃🍻
These videos are fun to watch and make everything look easy! The small sprite animations are good timing and location pointers--a lot of times a presentation will talk about something and I end up having to rewatch it a dozen times to figure out what they were talking about.
Big thank you sir for investing your time into this to help us all. I was getting disappointed with gmc dealer trying explain to dealer tech on the phone and his ans was I don't know what you are talking about. Pay us to diagnose your car. Meanwhile you just confirmed what I was thinking and you did it free. Thank you thank you. God bless you and the family.
I just want to thank you for saving me 100s if not 1000s because my sway bar links weren't tight enough from when I replaced them last year. The moment I heard the issue you had I knew it was meant to be.
Very good, practical video! Love that you showed how hard it can be to find that "clunk". Got to agree with you that OEM suspension parts are always the best bet!
Thank you. I’m almost certain this is my problem. I almost ordered new struts but I don’t want to spend 200$ to still have the clunking noise so I researched the sway bar topic and came across your video. Great video, well made.
Thank you I am so glad you liked it. Try the "hand shake" test in the video. Usually something will turn up on bad ones. Hopefully a bad link or bushing jumps out at you! 😃
You are a great instructor/informer!! I cannot express that enough! I am in awe of some of the areas that you placed the camera while the car was in motion!! It captured video footage more clearly than someone running with a camera. Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to create this video.
I took my 2014 Fusion into a shop recently for tire rotation, told them about the clanking noise. I told them I suspected bad strut mounts (because its had those before and the sound was similar). They said not it was not that. They showed me where the right CV axle had a loose bushing, had wallowed out the bracket. I trust these guys. I had them replace all that. It's still making the noise. I can't reproduce it pushing the car down repeatedly. I go over even low bumps and hear it. I thought it might be my hearing aids, amplifying a normal sound. My wife rode in the car today, and she could hear it. It was her car until she got a new one a few months ago.
The "shake and sway test" will help isolate to possible link or bushing failures in situations like yours. If all suspension and steering, and braking components check out and are perfect, usually it's worth a shot to throw some bushings and or links at it. They some times will produce noise even though no play can be felt at the link or bushing with shake testing. If you want to try something even though it could be wrong, a lot of times that will do the trick. If it doesn't you can try the same thing with shocks/struts. Links and bushings are the cheapest so I start there. The best way is to confirm bad parts and replace. But sometimes this happens. Also some vehicles are notorious for no detectable play but clunking 😃
Holy cow your style of editing makes your info easy to understand, easy to watch yet detailed as hell. A lot of RUclips videos lose you in the details. Or have horrible hard to see recording of parts.
Finally a video that puts into context exactly what I’ve been feeling with my escape. Engine mounts also need to be replaced but I can only afford to fix one thing at a time so I now know the sounds I hear are from the sway bar not the engine moving.
Thanks for a very helpful, straightforward and easy to follow video!! REALLY appreciate that you labeled all the components to help beginner’s identify what we’re looking at
My car is booked in for a pre-holiday service in a few days time as we are going to Scotland (travelling from North London) so a journey of 490miles plus two weeks of driving plus the drive home and was only MOT'd last month (passed no advisories) and then this noise started earlier today (first time I've noticed it anyway) dropped in on my mechanic and he took it out for a spin and said straight away sounds like a link bar, we will sort it when it's in. Just watched this and that clunking noise is absolutely bang on with what I'm hearing. He said it's not expensive probably around £80 or so plus labour which isn't too bad. Great Vid. I have a 2009 Honda Civic (MK8) btw 😅
I finally spotted this video the eve I had the fix made. As the video suggests, I was hearing the noise behind my driving position and what I thought was over the bed of my tacoma. Initial vids I thought possible drive shaft U joint, etc. Mechanic called this morning and said right side link to sway bar was completely snapped or broken and the left one was there but also in bad shape. They were replaced and no more clanking sound with turns or with slow decelerations 20 - 15 mph. This video was really good; it really was true to what I was experiencing. And since it was first time to newer auto shop, I felt I was treated well and the shop has a competent crew doing good detail analysis.
Great descriptive video! I love the animation! Replacing mine this weekend on my 2012 Volvo s60 t5 gunna be fun! Had similar noise and thought it was my axle at first until I watched this video and wasn’t aware of the noise these components can actually make. Thank you for your wisdom
You made my morning amazing! My dad was a mechanic so I grew up in a shop and I now work on my own cars. This video was AMAZING , ENTERTAINING AND AT TIMES FUNNY let me not forget the most important being IT WAS EXTREMELY INFORMATIVE! God bless you and all that you do. Thank you so much for such a pleasant how to vid.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge in such a way that others can easily understand for themselves. A true gift that you have obviously perfected!! Much appreciated!!!
Why has none of the 3 mechanics I've taken my car to been able to diagnose this simple issue? You are the man my friend! Love the professional and very thorough and thoughtful explanations including awesome camera views and angles! SUBSCRIBED 🎉
you deserve more credit and more followers, slow pace, i like the edits showing what each piece is and the detail put into this video showing everything 10/10
Excellent video and description of what sway bar and links are, what they do, and how they fail. I'm truly jealous of your video making skills Shaun! Great job!!
I confirm your fix. Since we got my wife's 2023 CRV Hybrid Sport in Feb, it kept producing an intermittent/random "clunking" sound that came from beneath the rear luggage area. Wife always thought it's because the stuff she carries in the back moves around. Brought the CRV to Honda dealership where we purchased it from. Culprit was the driver-side anti-sway bar linkage that Honda factory insufficiently torqued...
Thanks so much for this video, this video should be the standard on how such repair videos should be. Straight to the point, and clear explanations. You got my sub man, keep going like this! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Thanks for the video! I changed my car's 2 front absorbers and bushings yesterday, and the exact same noise in your video is now heard. The mechanic who did the job refused to troubleshoot and kept denying hearing the noise, leaving me to search online for possible causes. Likely it's my car's left front sway bar link, pending on further checks tomorrow. Gonna send to another mechanic to confirm and fix this.
No problem. If you have front strut style absorbers, the links are often connected to the struts. They usually get destroyed if the are old removing for struts. No always, but most of the time. If that is your setup, I would recommend replacement of the sway bar links with struts to avoid problems afterwards. Good luck, I am sure you will figure it out with some time 😃🔧
Hi i do have the same issue but i get my noise only when i apply the breaks and the last 1second on car comes to a halt do you have any recommendations? The noise started to come after i replaced the front shocks
That might be hard to duplicate while testing, but if you can get the noise to happen every time, you should be able to track it down. You could also start by checking each fastener that was removed and installed to be sure they are all tight. I would check all suspension, steering, brakes, lug-nuts until you find the problem 😀🔧
not usually because the suspension isn't moving up and down. But some are connected to the struts so it is possible and worth a try. Sorry for late response 😃😃
I'm taken my 2014 Kia Sorento SLX to the shop tomorrow for this same reason. Thanks for your content and hope this is the problem with my car, everything you mentioned match's my car's issues. 👍👍👍
Great video. I seem to have so many issues with these guys. First time I checked them wrong (only had one side of the car jacked up to check them) and didn’t know what the issue was so I went to a mechanic. It ended up being the sway bar links.. well fast forward a year and I have the same issue again but I know what the issue is at least
Sorry you are having trouble. They are simple parts but can be easily confusing so I tried to help shed some light on them. If yours failed in less than a year, it could be aftermarket parts that were used. I have also seen fasteners loosen and make the noise a short while later that is exactly the same. Doesn't happen often but is worth checking that out. If its aftermarket parts get oem and you will have much better durability 😃🔧
thank you so much for this video, the noise is exactly what I am looking for. Sway bar link is not too expensive (around $30-35). But as i search, diagnosing of this noise is taking more time and money for repairers.
Your video is excellent. It is very educational and simple. Great examples and great use of light for video and stillshots for those dark pockets in cars. You provided me the information and inspiration to do this job myself. Thanks
I am commenting because I love my tools. Its another thing that most my tools are not organized and need a lot of time to find a tool I need at the time. I really appreciate your videos as I have watched many today and the way of your telling is really awesome unlike some vloggers show some cheap drama instead of going to the helpful tricks which you have included in your vlogs (Like which parts last how long and investing a little more will save you going to the mechanic shops to pay them frequently. So Thanks again for your videos.
I have the exact same clunk on my BMW. I hear it over pot holes and uneven pavement from the left rear end. I got it lubricated and it is reduced now. I feel it's a temporary fix and requires attention if it needs to be replaced either bushing or control bar. So far two technicians have failed to identify such a simple issue that I could find myself over RUclips using ur channel. The technicians said it's brake pads and rotors lol. The other one said body frame. A local guy lubricated it and I will get it checked at a bmw specialist than the dealership that will charge me over 700$ for this. Thanks for the demo. It helped me isolate all other noises I was relating to. 👍
@@EasyFixShaun what type of mount do you use? I’m so blown away by your production value. Haha. But really, strapping a gopro under there while driving. I actually thought of that for diagnosing my issues but only for a second. I will diagnose and shake one the away bar links tomorrow. I just replaced a really bad cv axle drivers side and I put in so much work the last week doing that axle job. It felt perfect for the first 5-10 miles but then started slowly getting vibration and knocking noise. I am really really hoping that it’s these puppies and not my brand new axle(duralast but reviewed well on autozone). I am getting this knocking noise when I start and stop and is kind of a sound like it is occurring as it revolves around the axle but I really hope it’s just these sway bar links. Would make sense though since they have never been changed pretty I’m sure and I’m at 115k 😳. Especially with my previous cv giving a ton of vibration and probably wearing out the sway bar links. So they should probably be replaced anyway. Long comment 😅, but we’ll see tomorrow!
Thank you, sir! I have a 4th gen 2014 awd CR-V that I forgot wasn't a Jeep, and violently off-roaded it and now it is making this sound. It's the family car. oops. Now I know what to replace, which is convenient because I am going to be replacing the rear rotors and pads in a couple weeks anyway... God bless!
Getting my sway bar (and a bunch of other stuff) fixed Monday, so this was nice to help me understand exactly what not to do with my car until then. I'm not huge into car stuff, but I do like knowing my car's problems and this was a great level of detail for the even the casual learner. Also enjoyed the little fun edits of your spider friend and backseat rider. The ADHD in me needs that sort of gooberage acknowledged and it was *highly* satisfying.
I change upper ball joint, lower ball joint and tie rod end but i was surprised that there's still loud snapping noise when turning, especially when reversing, I'll check the sway bar link if its the culprit, thanks
Thank you for the detailed info and presentation. Saved me a lot of unwanted anxiety dealing with my jeep and the creaking noise from the rear suspension.
Good job brother very well articulated video put together I have 47 years wrenching and wrenching on cars Michigan with the rust can be a nightmare thanks again for making it a cut dry understandable video for many people to understand😊
What awesome video. Very well detailed and explained. Can you believe I do have same symptoms (clunking noise) coming from the front in my 2021 Chrysler Pacifica. I replaced the struts, lower control arms and sway bar links. And the noise still there. I didn't check the bushings for the crossing metal bar . I hope there is the problem. Thanks again
I like that you included the sawzall part to show people that sometimes it's not worth messing with rusty old parts even if there are ways to get the nuts off properly. Time is money and sometimes sanity...
So true. I am glad you liked it! I wish rust didn't exist and removing parts was easier in the rust belt. A sawsal for sway bar links seems to be easy and fast for me and is my personal number one method on links. It uses the same battery as my impacts.... Plus i can use the sawsal for other home projects and tree trimming. Really good all around tool to use throughout the years 😃
I just wanted to give you credit on your video. I've watched a lot of auto mechanic repair videos for various repairs and none of them are as well put together as this one I watched of yours. Many of them have a camera angle to where you can't see much of anything. In your video you had many of the parts labeled with editing and everything was very easy to see and understand and was informative. The extra work you put in your video is well worth it because it makes it much better than the majority of videos that are out there. I just wanted to tell you good job and if you have other videos that pertain to some type of help that I need I will definitely check it out. I appreciate it, take care buddy.
Life saver! That is the exact noise my 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK is doing. I’ll be running my owe test to confirm in the tomorrow. I’m hoping my mechanic can now fix this issue once and for all! Great informative video mate!

Dudes funny. This is gold. Seriously, you're the bomb!1,000,000 times better at actually explaining the process as well as showing the process from diagnosing to getting the job done . All the while making me laugh and releasing some tension I've gained from deviding to tackle these replacements myself. Thank you 🥹🙏 also I love your camera op! I see you ms lady, you're a gift as well! amazing camera angles clear shots 🫶 you guys are amazing 🤩
One of the BEST how to / repair / proper test / all around coverage vids and to cherry on top it... respectful of peoples time and cut things short - lots of time editing is evident. You deserve all the thumbs up! This should be the staple of role models for a how to vid! ..... aka great job ;)
heard this sound after being a dummy and not tightening down my lug nuts. I was using an impact gun (albeit improperly) to save time but ended up losing 2 lug nuts on the highway. I used a tire iron to tighten them up. which cleared up all of the symptoms except for the last. my loose lugnut symptoms: -car shakes at 65mph+ no pulsation in brake pedal, but very slow braking at high speeds and nasty burning smell -brakes overheating Last but not least, knocking sound from front driver side wheel while going over any kind of bump. *Fixed my noise issue. I also lost the bottom caliper guide pin screw holding my caliper. This caused the noise I was hearing. I was able to freely move it and re-create the sound I was hearing over bumps.
Thank you for making this video, it’s almost impossible to tell on a bmw that it is the links. I’ve took mine off when I changed my front and rear suspension and they felt pretty good by hand but the clunking noise is Soo bad, thanks again man, I like you channel!
i replaced mine my steering got easier like alot easier doesn’t make my engine work really hard when i bottom it out but it started clicking and suspension feels a little more bouncy did you ever get that problem fixed btw i have a 2009 328i
Good video man. Addressed a specific problem very throughly. Did all my links and bushings a year ago and coming back to the same problem. Buy once cry once!
While the video as a whole was very helpful, the diagnostics part in the beginning was absolute gold. Thank you for this. First time finding you, but am now subscribed.

2012 Honda Civic my sway bar links are tight I am at 297,000 miles never adjusted valves same transmission changed two water pumps and one catalytic converter to a used wrecking yard one . One CV shaft broke the first 5000 miles but other one is the same best car I have ever owned
Thanks for this video!!! It helped me with the clunking noice my tacoma was having. Turned out to be a broken sway bar bracket on the driver side. I'm not a mechanic but was able to fix it myself and saved hundreds of $$$. Great video!
That was an amazing watch! The quick editing is really entertaining and you always label stuff which is really nice. I'm glad you advocated for OEM parts. I cannot tell you how many cars I've wasted money on not going for OEM parts the first time and having to deal with a noise and problem later on. Plus OEM parts are often quieter the reason being is they use extremely tight tolerances and polymer based bearings for the ball joint in tie rods, sway bar links and suspension ball joints. Plastic transmits a lot less noise than metal based bearings. There are a few aftermarket brands that are okay suck as CTR, but OEM is usually worth it for convenience and reliability.
Great video and actually helped me diagnose the problem with my S-Class. Here's one thing you could've maybe mentioned: temperature can also be an effect of how loud it is or isn't. On my car the actual bar was bad and since it ran across the bottom of the engine if the car was warmed up or it was hot outside and since metal shrinks or expands depending on temperature, it would get quieter when exposed to warmer temperature. Maybe this was just a thing with my car, but regardless very interesting. Great video! 👍
Thank you! Yes some cars have symptoms like yours. It is less common and make diagnosis harder sometimes. Great job figuring it all out. Thanks for the comment on this 😃😃
I put an aftermarket link on my '08 TL a few years ago and it made noise shortly after the installation. I have had to convince mechanics that it is not the CV joint making the noise! I am going to replace both with OEM equipment.
Nice video! I believe this is the issue on my mothers car. Everytime we go over bumps we hear this. We at state 1 but definitely getting worse. Definitely going to be checking these out. Thank you for the information!

I agree) I have dodge challenger and the same bad noises in front suspension)
I haven't watched a video this well made in a long time.
Wow I really appreciate that! Thanks for making my day 😃🔧
Yes! I was thinking the same thing, this is a well produced video
Same here, that was refreshing
I agree! Please make more 😁
The Moog stabilizer end link I replaced 5 years ago in 2018 on the passenger side has started clunking again, while the OEM ones on the driver side is still working fine, 13 years in service.
THANK YOU
Wow! Thanks a lot! I hate boring videos too. I am glad to help 😃🔧
Thank you I got my car fixed because of you!!!
Nice work on your project! 😃😃😃
@@EasyFixShaun Hi 👋 question I need this done on a 2011 Chevy Malibu bushings and links is this a hard and expensive job?? What am I looking at just for labor thanks hope you get back to me
Typically they are the easiest of most suspension repairs. Labor rates vary. But time to replace should be 1-3 hours min/max 😃
really appreciate the *multiple* verbal and visual descriptions of the problem along clear audio and graphics confirming exactly where the issue is and what it sounds like under varied conditions. you're onto something here with this method of explaining things to humans.
Thanks for the kind comment! I really appreciate that and i am ao glad you enjoyed it 😀😀🔧
I agree! I subscribed after watching this video. The multiple labels and thorough explanations are fantastic man!
3 months of constant knocking and clunking. Didn't want to get charged garage fees so bought some of these for £15 a pair, fitted them myself and job fixed. Thanks for the video 👍
Oh wow! Awsome 😃😃
Thank you bro! You are the best man!) I have the same bad noise because I have to change my front links stabilizer) In 3 days new ones will arrive and I will change them. Sorry for my bad English, I am from Russia)
No problem! Did it work?
You deserve a RUclips raise! What a greatlly detailed video, with pros and cons and camera angles, warnings as well. Good job
Thank you! Very kind. I am so glad you liked it 😃🔧
A friend of my son just brought his car over to my home garage. Had a suspicion that this is what the issue was. Just like you said it made a hell of a lot of noise. Good video and right to the point!
Thanks for sharing Glad to hear you were able to find it 😃
OMG I am so glad you were using a 3rd gen Honda crv model to demonstrate a bad sway bar link. As an 07 crv owner experiencing similar issues, this video is a godsend.
Awsome! I am so glad to help out 😃🔧
Dude, you literally just saved me. The sway bar link was not tightened enough after doing your diagnosing test. That was the clunking noise. Thank you so much. 🙏🙏😭
That's what I'm here for. Makes me happy I can help! Those nuts get loose all the time 😃
that is EXACLTY the noise my car is making, thank you so much for this sir! one shop told me it was my suspension and was gonna cost 2000$ to replace >:(, now i know what i need to tell other shops, how much it should cost, and how serious the problem is! thank you so much!!!
Glad to help! The sound can be mimicked from other components sometimes but my sound ended up being the sway bar links. They are a common failure point also. Hopefully that is all you have going on 😃🔧
@@EasyFixShaun right
Thank you so much, for making this video!
You're welcome! I'm glad you got it checked out right away. That is always the best move to be safe 😀🔧
do you wonder why chapters are not showing in this video? you must have timestamp 00:00 and NOT 00:01. this is strange why RUclips enforces this, but I had the same issue and 100s of my videos have now chapters. Thank you for the excellent video.
Thanks for the tip! 😃😃
dude you rock. i just changed both of my control arms out because upon inspection, it seemed like the bushings or ball joints could’ve caused these problems. now im 99% sure of what i should’ve replaced. not mad that i fixed the wrong problem first, but it’ll be a load off my mind to not hear that clunking anymore.
Thank you! Glad to help! Often there can be more than one problem in cars. Great job sticking with it and picking away at it 😃
Why doesn't everyone label the parts like you do in this video. 💯
Thanks man 😀
I replaced my 2018 Jeep compass OEM links with MOOG steel links.
@@Redwood65 No problem glad to help. They probably replace quite a few. They should sell you parts no problem 😃
The sound of the symptom is so well made and heard, so well made!!!

@@EasyFixShaun Your welcome
Dude. Seriously. I have NEVER EVER watched a video so well made, thorough and incredibly education/insightful as yours.
Most of these car symptom videos I see are so useless they might aswell delete them.
Seriously! You should be very proud of yourself!
Thank you!! 😃😃
Glad to help!! 😃😃
Lubricating to remove is a great idea.
Thank you 😊. I really appreciate that. The video was really fun to make and we put a lot of effort into it 😀
Thank you for this well made video !!
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I like animating too. You should still watch a dozen times for the algorithm 🤣 🔧
Thank you! Hopefully it helps you confirm or deny at least the sway bar parts as the possible problem. Glad to help out 😃🔧
Aah, if only all explanatory videos were this clear and understandable. Absolutely first class! Thank you.
Thank you! Really appreciate that a lot 😃🔧
@@EasyFixShaun Pleasure 🤗
I just want to thank you for saving me 100s if not 1000s because my sway bar links weren't tight enough from when I replaced them last year. The moment I heard the issue you had I knew it was meant to be.
😃😃😃 Nice work!
Very good, practical video! Love that you showed how hard it can be to find that "clunk". Got to agree with you that OEM suspension parts are always the best bet!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful! 😀😀
Wow, thank you! 😃😃
You’re welcome!!😊
Thank you so much, very kind of you! Glad you like them! 😃😃🔧
Finally a video that puts into context exactly what I’ve been feeling with my escape. Engine mounts also need to be replaced but I can only afford to fix one thing at a time so I now know the sounds I hear are from the sway bar not the engine moving.
Thank you! Best of luck with your project 😃😃
Thanks for a very helpful, straightforward and easy to follow video!! REALLY appreciate that you labeled all the components to help beginner’s identify what we’re looking at
No problem. So glad to help out!! 😃🔧
Thank you! Nice work keeping your honda "ship shape" for your trip. Safe travels 😀😀

Really appreciate that. I am glad you liked it 😃😃😃
I finally spotted this video the eve I had the fix made.
Excellent thank you! I'm glad you got yours all sorted out 😀
Great descriptive video! I love the animation! Replacing mine this weekend on my 2012 Volvo s60 t5 gunna be fun! Had similar noise and thought it was my axle at first until I watched this video and wasn’t aware of the noise these components can actually make. Thank you for your wisdom

Excellent video and description of what sway bar and links are, what they do, and how they fail. I'm truly jealous of your video making skills Shaun! Great job!!
Thanks man. We should do a collaboration! 😃🔧
Oh wow! That happens so often it's crazy. They can work themselves loose quite frequently 🔧😃
Thanks so much for this video, this video should be the standard on how such repair videos should be.

@@EasyFixShaun no problem man, much love to you, stay healthy and stay safe!
You too! 😃

Will they clunk like that with the car standing still and turning the steering wheel left to right?
Nice! So glad you posted this! Never messed with my suspension system till now and this will help tremendously
not usually because the suspension isn't moving up and down. But some are connected to the struts so it is possible and worth a try. Sorry for late response
😃😃
I'm taken my 2014 Kia Sorento SLX to the shop tomorrow for this same reason. Thanks for your content and hope this is the problem with my car, everything you mentioned match's my car's issues. 👍👍👍
Excellent! Good luck with your project 😃😃
No prob! Ya these are high wear items and need replacement all the time. Get the best parts to make em last. Oem only typically last the longest!! 😃

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it! 😃😃🔧
Great job finding the culprit and sorting out your car! 🚗😃

Hey, what camera setup are you using to film the suspension components inside the wheel well? Seems super helpful for diagnosing issues like this.
Go Pro. Works great but strapping an expensive camera to the wheel well is nerve racking! 😃🔧
@@EasyFixShaun
what type of mount do you use?

I change upper ball joint, lower ball joint and tie rod end but i was surprised that there's still loud snapping noise when turning, especially when reversing, I'll check the sway bar link if its the culprit, thanks
That could be anything. But your description might also describe driveline parts like bad universal joints or bad cv-axles.

The extra work you put in your video is well worth it because it makes it much better than the majority of videos that are out there. I just wanted to tell you good job and if you have other videos that pertain to some type of help that I need I will definitely check it out. I appreciate it, take care buddy.

heard this sound after being a dummy and not tightening down my lug nuts. I was using an impact gun (albeit improperly) to save time but ended up losing 2 lug nuts on the highway. I used a tire iron to tighten them up. which cleared up all of the symptoms except for the last.
my loose lugnut symptoms:
-car shakes at 65mph+
no pulsation in brake pedal, but very slow braking at high speeds and nasty burning smell
-brakes overheating
Last but not least, knocking sound from front driver side wheel while going over any kind of bump.
*Fixed my noise issue.
I also lost the bottom caliper guide pin screw holding my caliper. This caused the noise I was hearing. I was able to freely move it and re-create the sound I was hearing over bumps.
Oh wow. I am so glad you caught that before it was too late!
Thank you for making this video, it’s almost impossible to tell on a bmw that it is the links. I’ve took mine off when I changed my front and rear suspension and they felt pretty good by hand but the clunking noise is Soo bad, thanks again man, I like you channel!
i replaced mine my steering got easier like alot easier doesn’t make my engine work really hard when i bottom it out but it started clicking and suspension feels a little more bouncy did you ever get that problem fixed btw i have a 2009 328i
You're welcome! Thank you 😃
Good video man. Addressed a specific problem very throughly. Did all my links and bushings a year ago and coming back to the same problem. Buy once cry once!
Thank you! I am glad you liked it. What brand of parts did you use? Aftermarket?
Wow! Never ever have I seen such a detailed video with the noises and test shown to check! Impressive work! Hats off for this!
Thank you! I hope it helped 😀🍻
While the video as a whole was very helpful, the diagnostics part in the beginning was absolute gold. Thank you for this. First time finding you, but am now subscribed.
Thank you!! Really appreciate you subbing 😃😃
Thank you for this video. Finally, after 10 months of this noise, its finally gone, and for only $170 at Brakes Plus 😁
No problem! Im am so glad you got it fixed 😀🔧
I just had DIY videos playing in the background while doing dishes. This video came on and before I finished I had to stop what I was doing to put a like. Very well-made video, great information density, look forward to more great content
👍
That is awesome! Thank you I really appreciat!! I also hand wash my dishes 😂
Working on some new ones for you 😃
2012 Honda Civic my sway bar links are tight I am at 297,000 miles never adjusted valves same transmission changed two water pumps and one catalytic converter to a used wrecking yard one . One CV shaft broke the first 5000 miles but other one is the same best car I have ever owned
That is fantastic man. Great car! 😀
Thanks for this video!!! It helped me with the clunking noice my tacoma was having. Turned out to be a broken sway bar bracket on the driver side. I'm not a mechanic but was able to fix it myself and saved hundreds of $$$. Great video!
Great to hear you got it all sorted out 😃
That was an amazing watch!
A lot of good points there. Glad to help 🤝😃
Wow a lot of very good information in this video. Basically ALL questions are answered about sway bar bushings & end links.
Thank you!! Glad it was helpful 😃😃🔧
Nice! I have tried cheaper stuff too. It works but usually not as long 🎯
I have a week trying to determine what that bloody noise and wow this video made it so clear!
Awsome! Try the "hand shake test" on your links and bushings 😀
Love the way you explain the why of the problem, not just a parts changer video but the reasoning behind it.👍
Thank you! I really appreciate that. Im glad to help out 😀😀
Nice video!
I believe this is the issue on my mothers car. Everytime we go over bumps we hear this. We at state 1 but definitely getting worse. Definitely going to be checking these out. Thank you for the information!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks. This explains a lot! Just noticed the tiny spider!
Glad it helped! The spider was so funny! One of my favorite parts. My dog Millie was my favorite part too 😀🥰
Bad ass. Been chasing the same clunk for years. Had 3 different mechanics look at it and none of them could isolate it. Winner winner chicken dinner!
😂 glad to help!!
