I would leave the strut in place with a jack under applying a bit of pressure upwards, release the center nut (with allen) THEN release the jack slowly.

And I'm surprised you didn't use those spring compressors I thought those Springs were under a lot of pressure when you undo that center bolt could go flying fiercely with a lot of force possibly causing great injury.

Also please use a jack stand to hold the hub and rotor assembly so all that weight isn't on the CV axles and transmission!

Everybody freaks out about him not using the spring compressor. Are you blind? Did anything bad happen? Those springs were not under very much tension. Calm down people.

DO NOT DO THIS WITHOUT A SPRING COMPRESSOR! You can severely hurt yourself.
