I just replaced my two rear shocks, it’s been a while, I was shocked at how expensive they’ve become. It’s been 30 years since I bought a pair, they really have gotten expensive.
They're not expensive if it's a basic vehicle, around $60-75 a corner online for basic kyb (even cheaper with spring sales/rebates). Cheap Chinese sensen are like $120 for four. That's pretty cheap for such a vital component that makes a huge difference in making an older car feel newish.
You da Man! Considering KYBs to replace my OEM toyota struts. How can I tell if I need an entire new "quick struts" or just a new strut (and reuse the OEM spring)??? Someone else told me that it is usually best to keep the original spring portion because they are usually much better than any spring you will get on non genuine toyota. Do you know any test or way for me to tell if the OEM spring portion of the strut is worn out or not? In other words, I am affraid that if I transfer the OEM spring to a new KYB strut, that I will quickly find out that I should have replaced the spring too. You always have such excellent videos! Hey, I watched the video and none of the symptoms I see in my car which has over 100K miles on it. There is a thumping noise coming from the back(right rear) on my car when I go over an uneven surfaces. 1) Please tell me if bad or failing shock can make a thumping noise? 2) Can "center nut" that keeps upper shock mount to the shock stem, become loose and make thumping noise? 3) The noise is most likely coming from other components(sway bar links, bushings)? Which of the 3 do you think is more likely the issue? Thanks!

I mean.... disassociate who X president is and the same general point stands: poking fun at behavior that is suddenly acceptable. It only becomes about Him if we allow it to.
It is also not necessarily see a leak in the shocks. For me every time I decided to change them and when I inspect them I see that they became very loose. Very small force were enough to compress them. That means also that the car is carried by the struts and engine mounts only... You can imagine how the dampening and vibration be in this case. So my advice to myself is to change them regularly regardless of their conditions. Say 60-70 km are fair enough for them.
Also, check to make sure that your upper and lower control arms are intact on the front and the back. As, they can be completely detrimental to the control of your vehicle. Mine, I didn’t know were rusted in spots, and when I changed out my air shocks for my Land Rover… When the shocks went back up, it broke the one in half and if it wasn’t for the shock, essentially holding that assembly together… The wheel could’ve essentially been free to go left or right by itself and could’ve taken my vehicle out of control and wrecked it. So be on the lookout for those on your vehicle when you change out your shocks, just to make sure. Especially if it’s early 2000’s to maybe 2010… and especially if you live by the ocean or in an area where you get a bunch of snow and they salt the roads. Which can less than the life of any metal part on your vehicle.
Let’s not forget the shocks or if you got struts are actually holding the car up. Good sign if ones bad the car won’t sit straight it will lean to the bad side that’s broken
My 2012 Honda Civic, shakes or vibrates at times, it comes and goes away. I replaced the engine mount and the back mount, I didn’t replace the transmission mount. It seems like it’s better but still some vibration. Various speeds. I suspect it could be the struts, they have over 200k miles. I want to get to the root of the problem… Any advice.

I support your consideration in running for President of the United States Of America. However, a few things that you may want to consider. No matter which party label you represent, you need to become a very skilled liar. You will also need to understand quid pro quo, which is simply, something for something, which goes on everyday between lobbyist and the leaders that we elected to represent the interest of the common people. But actually they represent the best interest of Corporate America. Matter of fact, quid pro quo was used when our founding fathers negotiated the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Meaning, our group will give you something, if your group gives us something. You will also need to learn how to politicize the most basic concepts in order to keep the ignorant, ignorant. You will also need to understand that the news media is theater, scripted, a cash cow for the rich. There is a lot more for you to learn. And if you choose me as your vice president, I will show you the legal loopholes. Let me know. LOL. Semper Fi, USMC.
I have an almost new car, 2021 Sonata with 42,000 miles. I started getting an odd noise from the rear suspension a few months back. At low speeds there's a rapid thumping noise when I drive over cracks in the pavement. I highly suspect the shocks. But with only 41k miles Im reluctant to replace them. Can bad shocks make thumping noises?
I have a 2012 ford focus with front struts and sway bar links that are 1.5 years old and i just put in new lower control arms...I thought the new control arms would fix my slight vibration and inside tread cupping, but it has not..Then I have noticed that I here clunking which i think is from the strut mount. i do remember hitting a bad pot hole months ago and wondering if that destroyed the bearing..However, after jacking the car up and pulling on the wheel and forcing it up with a pry bar under the tire, everything seems tight and I can not reproduce the clunk. Only here it when hitting holes in the road. Any advice? Hate to do all the work to take the strut out and still not be able to tell if its bad.

I'd like to donate 1.5 million dollars US to your campaign. I really like your ol' twiddle move. That really gets em. P.S. In return for my donation I'd really like to be Secretary or the Treasury. Thanks for the vid, Pres!
My car seems to bounce horizontally, as in commonly wobbly right and. Went to dealer and they said it was normal...
You just lost a viewer. Thanks.
