    Just as an FYI, the Ruger Mark pistols have a cross pin in the bolt which prevents the firing pin from contacting and damaging the chamber when dry firing. Per Ruger, it's perfectly safe to dry fire them. Just be sure that you re-insert the pin if you remove it when cleaning the barrel.

    I have loved Ruger .22s since the early 70's (Mk1 not technically named that) and have Mk2's to the now Mk4. I haven't seen your model yet though! I have 2 Hunters, a Mk3 that I put in a 3rd party kit to remove all the Kalifornistan Safety nonsense, so it's basically a Mk3 Hunter with Mk2 guts! When Ruger finally put out the Mk4, naturally I had to get one of the early models. First thing I noticed was that the workmanship, especially on the fluted barrel was far better than the Mk3! I hadn't noticed that before!
    Remington Golden bullets were always my Go-to ammo. But for a while I played around with all available in my area. And yeah CCI mini mags ended up being my favorites. Only issue I ever had was the lack of and good (low priced) holster.

      Can’t beat a Ruger .22 of any kind!

      @@Cooldibs Yeah, my absolute favorite turned out to be the black Mk4 Target. And yeah, I splurged for the Ruger wooden thumb rests. But ended up replacing then with Hogue rubber thumb rest grips.
      Tried various red dots for a time, but ended up preferring the standard sights.
      Mk3s and Mk4s use the same Mags... I too got into the "I want more than 10 rounds!" kick. But after years of bunny busts (that's what my friends and I called it) I guess I just got better... Can't really see the need any more! Maybe it's just the Bigger is Better attitude...

    Thanks for the review! I never knew the MKIV blued lowers were all aluminum. With the shorter barrels, they may be better shooters, who knows lol...

    With the medallion on the left grip. I believe there is a screw on the inside of the grip where you can rotate the medallion to be straight like the other side.
    I recently shot my first 200 rounds on my Ruger Mk IV target model and the screw by the magazine release started to loosen on its own. This made it difficult to get the magazines in and out at the range. Being a lefty, I actually had a moment where it was impossible to get the magazine in due to it loosening up so much. I noticed you had a bit of a delay/resistance getting the magazine in at the same point I was. If you take your left grip off, there is an Allen screw that may need to be tightened slightly right next to the magazine release button. It helped me a ton.

      Thank you for the comment. I checked mine out and sure enough it was loose. I actually had a few acres come loose on me as well. I’ll be making a video soon on an update on it, as well as some upgrades I’ve done. Stay tuned!

      @@Cooldibs Yes. Looks good. Your grips look a lot lighter than the one I just put on lay away… I thought it was actual wood, but still looks good. Like the darker walnut lookin I thought it was actual wood, but still looks good. Like the darker walnut looking grips. I checked to see that the emblems were good, because of what you showed. And they're straight on mine and they are. Anyway...cheers. There aren't many videos on the blue hunter. It's mostly on stainless steel I don't care for. especially the bump in price.And think it looks a little funny with the barrel being longer

    This TALO edition is interesting! Thanks I was looking for more information on this one as it's 5.5" and not the 6.8" also blued, and if you look the fluting on the bottom of the barrel isn't cut out like the stainless steel models(at 6 o'clock) it's left on from factory and only fluted at every other angle except from the bottom, maybe to add weight to reduce muzzle rise? Either way nice piece! Unfortunately I live in California and can on luster over what you guys can have... we only have rocks to throw over here and they will ban them soon to one rock per person!

    • @Cooldibs
      @Cooldibs  2 года назад +3

      Thank you for watching! I didn’t notice that about the fluting on the ss model. I think the ss has it at the bottom because they still have space to put the “read instruction manual” bs on the bottom. That’s just my guess though. You’re more than welcome to come down to Texas!

      Congrats! Such a well made gun. I just went through 400 rounds yesterday. It started jamming on me at the very end since I was shooting some very cheap dirty ammo, but that wasn’t till maybe 350 rounds in.
