My dad broke the firing pin on his MKIII . So I called Ruger to get a replacement. They sent me one along with a couple of spares. Great customer service.
I've always had a good experience with Ruger's cs. When I was trying to find out a specific wrench to use on the LCP Custom, they spent a lot of time helping me even though it was a very old model.
We have the 22/45 lite, and it has been an excellent firearm...we had been shopping (not real hard) for a .22 target pistol, and when the mark iv came out, with the super easy breakdown, we jumped on it...we are not super great good shots, but that is on us (try being a senior with bad eyesight!)...the gun runs and runs, easy to clean, just can't say enough good things about it...
I really like the Mark IV. I've shot the Mark III and liked the results but can't speak to the quality of the III but agree Ruger CS is always very good.
The Mk iii came out in 2004, the mk iv in 2016. I like your advice about purpose based firearms purchases. Otherwise you will turn around one day and just have a bunch of meh firearms vs ones that fit into a certain defined roles or can flex into several roles.
What a great video! I really enjoyed the editing style and had a few giggles! It was also very informative, Im considering purchasing this weapon and you taught me everything I was curious about all the while being very warm and inviting and funny. Thx Mr Mark!
I've had the 45/22 target for several 6and probably have 10k rounds through it. Rifling still looks new and have only had 5 or 6 misfires all from Winchester ammo. As far As accuracy I average 97 out of 100 on a 4 inch target 100 yards out regardless of the northern Arizona winds. Its more consistent than any pistol or rifle i own and except for Winchester ammo doesn't care what it uses. Ive had problem with Winchester ammo in all my calibers including my 30-30 Winchester lever guns. Good review but i think your dates are off the standard eas only produced 1 or 2 years before the mark 1 came out
Started shooting club with the Ruger standard snd the zRuger bull target. Eventually moved on as i got better to a more 'competitive ' olympic style pistol But i would have the Ruger ( esp the mk4) as a keeper!
DA gun guy? Pretend the Bears stuff isn’t in the background. “Da Gun Guy” says dis guy is obviously from da Midwest, Great Lakes region of America…and dats a great place to be from. I’m glad you don’t have a boring 25 or 30 second canned intro. Just straight into it. Nicely done, Sir. Just yesterday I ordered a Mark IV Target from Bud’s. Looking forward to its arrival. GO LIONS!!!
I have a MKII 22/45. Bought it used and it came with 6 magazines. Unfortunately, it jams a lot, even with high velocity rounds. I’ll have to call Ruger and see if I can send it back
I bought my 22/45 with 6" barrel NIB in 2004. I've probably shot close to 15,000 rounds or more during competition and just for fun. I've had a few missfires due to a cheap ammo, but nothing else. Maybe the longer barrel helps for better cycling? It does not cycle subsonic rounds because of the lower pressure, but that's OK with me.
I love these guns so much fun, l got the 10inch model in 2020 when that model was released, the mk3 wasn’t offered with a 10inch barrel for some reason, it looks kinda goofy and is heavy as hell I think 52 ounces but I shoot it damn near every day and I can’t remember the last time I used my 10/22 enough about me , you picked a tough time to start but hang in there Rome wasn’t built in a day and you’ve got the personality for it and that’s the most important thing I’m looking forward to the shooting portion thank you!
Some more modern designs are safe to dry fire. Always check the manual though. If it says not to dry fire, don't dry fire. If it doesn't mention it, assume that you shouldn't dry fire it. if it specifically (like the ruger wrangler) says that it is safe to dry fire, go for it!
Id like to know what distances you fired at and whether it was single handed or with a support hand. Precision pistol here is 25 metre and one hand only.
I don’t really remember the distance at this point, but I do know I barely ever shoot single-handed. So I am 99% sure I used both hands when shooting this gun. The distance probably ranged from short side being 7 yards to 20 yards.
You asked for criticism so; (1:23) It's not "Strom", it's "Sturm", pronounced "Sterm". And I'd be happy to do without the cartoon inserts. I know that everyone is using them now but your review was very good and I don't think that they add anything. Subbed.
I miss my mk 2 stainless steel I traded it fo a ruger super blackhawk 11 7/8th inch 44magnum. The 44 was 260.00 used minus 20.00 deposit. My mk 2 only had 2 scratches both at the take down lever
Certain 22s are fine with dry firing, like the SR22 other not so much, like the Henry Classic Lever Action .22. As a general rule, what you say is a very good and reasonable practice BUT when in doubt, I always like to read the manual (Ruger Mark IV Manual., Page 14): "Going through the actions of cocking, aiming and pulling the trigger on an unloaded firearm is known as “dry firing.” It can be useful to learn the “feel” of your pistol. Be certain that the pistol is fully unloaded (both the chamber and magazine are empty) and that the pistol is pointing in a safe direction when you are practicing dry firing. The RUGER MARK IV pistol can be dry fired but a snap cap is strongly recommended for anything more than occasional dry fire practice."
The Mark II is my favorite of the series. The changes in the Mark III and IV are not necessary. I see no benefit to the Mark IV takedown. Furthermore, I hate the magazine safety, which is way worse than the extra 2 seconds required to break down the Mark II.

My Mark III was junk but Ruger replaced it after I sent it back 8 times for repair love Ruger Customer service

I like the MkIV with threaded barrel. Also like the mat he has on table.

TYVM!
I can't imagine a more fun gun to shoot. Love my mk IV lite. Just put some fiber optic sights on it and the accuracy is awesome.
Great video!! I myself am the proud owner of the Mark 4 target pistol. My favorite pistol. I subscribed. 👍👍
I just snagged one of these today. I couldn't pass it up at PSA.

That was a fantastic review on the Mark four thank you

good review, I have the exact one.
Cool 👍

I ENJOYED YOUR VEDIOE ON THE RUGER MK IV TARGET .YOU
SHOULD NEVER DRY FIRE IT . USE SNAP CAPS .
THE BUCKMARK , VICTORY ARE ALSO GOOD PIST 17:24
Solid review!
Fantastic review, beautiful pistol.
The pre-MK iv design was a total nightmare to disassemble/reassemble. Worst design ever. It only took 70 years or so to improve it.

I love my Mark III
Does it function best with a particular brand of ammunition?
Never fire a .22LR anything without a round or a snap cap in it, you will cause damage to the chamber.

The instructions furnished by Ruger with this series of pistols actually says the Internet is wrong about dry firing a Ruger Mk series pistol.
Id like to know what distances you fired at and whether it was single handed or with a support hand. Precision pistol here is 25 metre and one hand only.

I did and I do appreciate the feed back. Thank you for the comment.
you said you were going to talk about the different sights but never did...

I thought Ruger stopped making the Mark 2 in 2005 and started the mark 3, then stopped the mark 3 in 2016 and started the mark 4 to present day?
I think we’re gonna need to drop in some corrections 😮. Thanks.

You should NEVER dry fire a .22. Damages the firing pin and the chamber.

Need to get the Tandemkross lower Kraken and Williams fiber optics for the Mark IV pistol.
Did you call him STRum? Did you refer to the GRIP as a "handle" ? The BOLT is a "guide rail"?
I want to get one i own the Ruger 10/22 rifle side arm to go with it
Sorry but it's not "Strumm" it's "STURM"... as in Sturm und Drang. Sturm = Storm
Mark II Sucked ! Have the IV and so easy ...👍

@@randyknapp1910 have them both , huge different datils for the better !
You need to get closer with the camera
Gotcha - any particular part you thought should have been shot closer?
The mk4 was released eight years ago 🤣, eight years late for a video !!!👌🤦♂
Lose the political jokes.
