    Thank you. I really appreciate this. Based on this and a few others, I just put down a deposit on $300 used buckmark. Really eager to spend some time with it. Thank you for this great breakdown. :)

      just did my first deep clean on my buckmark, and I think you're right, you need to accept that you're going to take some time cleaning, but when you do, it's not an unpleasant process.

    I have the S&W Victory and I love it, I chose it primarily for the sights that come standard. Putting the rail on for a dot is very east and the take down is easy although you do need to use an allen wrench. It is also a very accurate gun.

    I know you said the Taurus is good training for modern carry weapons, but many people love and shoot the 1911. The Ruger 22/45 is designed for the same grip angle as a 1911, and similar controls.
    I actually bought my 22/45 for that purpose, and I think it would have been a good thing to mention in your video.

    Bought the Mark iv and was underwhelmed. Easy takedown for sure, but it was surprisingly unreliable trying to shoot in cold weather. Likely an issue more with the metal mags than the gun, but net result was that it would not cycle any ammo reliably in very cold outdoor conditions. That is NOT acceptable. Traded it for the Taurus TX22 SCR Toro several months ago. The tX is incredible. Zeroed my CT red dot and it's dead on target and rarely have misfeeds or other issues. Taurus has really hit their stride.

      That's strange, my mk 4 never misses a beat I like the capacity of the Taurus but the look and feel of the mk is what does it for me. Only ammo I've had an issue with(cheap .22 whinchester) also gave issues in single action henry levers. My 10/22 and single action revolvers

    • @KandaJE
      @KandaJE Месяц назад +1

      Yeah, I'd go to your Local and have them send it back to Ruger for the issue. I have never had any kind of cold weather issue with my Mk4 Target, and it's seen a lot of deep snow bunny busting action on an exposed holster. Meaning on a belt holster over clothing exposed to the cold.

    I have a Buckmark Rifle, not the pistol. It's based on the pistol and VERY similar. I agree that it's amazingly complicated to clean. Because it requires 2 hex keys, and highly recommended Torque wrench! There is a bolt inside that will gradually loosen unless torqued properly. I think it's hilarious that earlier Ruger's had a notorious reputation as being difficult. I never had any kind of a problem. I had been shooting Ruger .22s since the early 70's. What today we would call a Mk 1. My mother would either ship me off to Grandma's Farm or Dad's Ranch for the summer. I MUCH preferred the ranch! Dad "issued" me a Mk1 pistol, a rifle, and a Saddle to be used exclusively as "mine" for the summer. Of course we kids had to work to pay for our ammo! Which cost an amazing $7 for a brick of 500 which you could buy at the grocery store once a month! Every night, if we had shot the guns, we were required to field strip and clean under supervision. Dad was a notorious cleanliness nut about his guns. So yeah, I got an early education about the importance of cleaning your firearms.

    Great explanation of the 3 guns and what they are best at! I always wanted a Ruger MKIV but couldn't justify the cost. I finally bought a TX22 in Dec 21 and then the Competition slide/barre/sights/guide rod and spring for 199.99 from Taurus. After all that I am nearing the price of a MKIV Ruger but I do have a regular "Glock looking" TX 22 or a Comp version with the longer 5 1/4" bull barrel and a Holosun micro dot. Someday I still hope to acquire a Ruger. Small correction tho the TX22 holds 16 rounds and mags are cheap! I bought 5 for 20.00 each. I hate to guess what Ruger and Brownings are. However they are metal and the Taurus are plastic. I like that I can load up 100rnds of 22LR and just keep switching mags till its gone tho :)

    In my experience, the Ruger and the Browning are both much more accurate. The Taurus is generally cheaper with 5 extra rounds. They are all decent guns, it comes down to what you can afford... How much money or how much accuracy are you willing to give up? If you can, get them all and find out.

    Great video! Do you prefer the larger red dots compared to the a more traditional micro red dot for pistols? If so why? I would think weight is a factor, but maybe there are other benefits that would cover that. This is the first video where I've seen the romeo 5 on a pistol. It obviously must work, but its not something you see often so I'm just curious on your take. Thanks for the video.

    • @TheFullNeilson
      @TheFullNeilson  2 года назад +6

      The main reason I use the Romeo 5 on these handguns is because they are inexpensive, closed emitter, great battery life, and they have been extremely reliable. I probably own more than 10 of them. You would not want to mount this red dot on any reciprocating slide. But for these handguns it works very well.

      @@JohnWickBabaYaga556 For fun I'd recommend a Ruger Wrangler. The most fun one I have tried, anyway.
      Bolt action rifles tend to be more fun than auto. For accuracy: CZ or Anshutz, right out of the box. Savage is OK, great for the price, but I'd recommend the ones with wood furniture. The plastic in those bends and interferes with the barrel.

    If you want to see that extra stuff, then do a separate review. Those accessories do not add to whether a firearm on its own functions reliably or accurately .
