I just ordered the hiveGrip from TK. Thanks to your recommendation. LOL. I installed the Accurizing Kit after your last video and am highly satisfied! Way to go Plinkster!
I had a Mk II and a Mk III stolen from my home a few years ago. I’m getting the Mk III back from the police next week. But I’m getting me a Mk IV this weekend.
Wow. I agree that mine rocks. Factory frame but volquartsen trigger kit with TK victory shoe. LLV-4 upper, LDP red dot but mine has ADM qd, halo ring, hive grips, target sights. Mine is the little brother to yours.
This set up will find it's way onto the next low budget Sci-Fi flick. I understand the engineering and like the build for what it was designed for. Good Job and great informative Video. Thank you.
I put the Tandemkross Victory trigger and the Halo charging ring on my Ruger Mark IV Competition Stainless and I love them both ... especially the Halo charging ring because I do have arthritis in my hands. What can I say I've farmed most of my life. The Victory trigger makes it easier for me to squeeze the trigger. I think it's easier because I can place my finger lower down on the trigger and I get a better mechanical advantage on it. Thanks for an interesting video. I almost forgot - my Mark IV Competition came with a thumb rest on the left hand grip. Makes it really nice to hold.
When you say the Leupold Delta Point Pro is a 1 MOA red dot, you must be referring to the MOA windage and elevation adjustments. Looking at the product specs, it doesn't look like the dot gets smaller than 2.5 MOA.
Just curious, what size group from how far did that awesome hunk of metallic goodness shoot before the build, and after. I figured out how much the build costed now I’m I’m curious as to how much accuracy costs. Love the show, keep plinking
I don't know if you'll read this but.. Did you have any problems with the Volqurtsen upper not seating property against the lower?? Mine has a little wiggle room and up a little high, if not wedged in right the bullets hit and scrape against the top of the chamber, causing inaccuracy. When it's on there right it's so accurate.
Really enjoying your channel Dave. I did the same trigger combination with the volquartsen inners and the tandemkross trigger I love it. I've been been considering those ledges and the hive and based on this video I think I need to pull the trigger. In a manner of speaking.
The difficulty with that is that .22 ammo has a flanged base and doesn't feed too well from double-stack mags, because the base of the rounds tend to hang up on each other, instead of sliding off each other like 9mm or .45acp rounds where the base is flush with the body of the cartridge...
Ruger 10/22 German Sports Guns 110 rd drum. They run flawlessly, even with a binary trigger. Easier to load than BX25s, more than 4X the capacity and half the cost round for round. FUN.

I love this man! You're my all-time hero!🤣
Curious why you used the 22/45 for a precision target gun. I would think the polymer frame would not be rigid enough. I’m thinking about building a similar setup but I’m leaning towards using an aluminum or stainless frame for the rigidity. Your thoughts?
By now, many of you Mark IV owners have modified or built something similar. Question for those who added the thumb rest: does it fit in the holster, or did you have to modify it?
Ghey. My minimamba w/ a adm mount w/ aimpoint p2, battleworn finish so metal lower, flat faced trigger, specter cat suppressor, eagle grips turkish walnut grips... now that the ultimate 22. cant even explain how awesome this thing is.
Man. You are pretty serious about some 22lr. O.o thank you for your mark 4 video, it helped me decide to get a ruger target mark 4, stainless threaded for my semi auto 22lr. I also use the smith and wesson 617 6 inch for 22lr fun! Awesome video man
We love it .22. just like we love you...So PLEASE do a video with Hickok45. You live in the same state, you love guns, you both know a tremendous amount about them, etc, etc... The internet is waiting.......
My factory Mark III target slab side has a similar issue with the magazine it's very picky about how well its inserted as to if it will pick up the round out of the magazine. It's a bit frustrating but now I know what caused it.
Hang on to your Mark 2, It is still the most accurate out of the box of the Mark series. The only thing I want to change on mine is the sights, my eyes are not what they were 35years back.
Does it cost less to build a race gun out of a Ruger donor with all these Volquartsen parts, or just buy a full Volquartsen gun directly from the company already fully built, such as a Black Mamba or Scorpion?
Man, that intro brought back memories! I was in band in high school (alto sax, for those who care lol), and we did a Pirates of the Caribbean themed show one year. So fun. Definitely one of my favorite movie franchises.

I'm not sure if you shoot big bore handguns or not but I seem to trust your opinion. I have a 460 S&W with a Leopold 2.5×8 pistol scope. No I'm not a great shot but I do have my moments. I shot at 100 yards with this big pistol on a bipod two groups where three bullets went basically through the same hole. With a 45 caliber bullet you could cover each group with a dime. Now the question, I took this pistol on a trip back to your neck of the woods. When I shot it this time I couldn't hit the paper let alone the target. I thought it might be rings because these weren't the strongest rings. I replaced them with some very heavy duty ones but I'm still all over the paper. Do you have any idea as to what the problem might be. Is it possible the Leopold scope got messed up because of the recoil? Also what red dot and or scope would you recommend for this amount of recoil. More towards the red dot or reflex or what ever they're being called now. Thanks.
I bought the same pistol earlier this year. Super fun to shoot stock but Volquartsen makes it one of the best 22 LR pistols you can find all told. I am SUPER happy with their customer service. I had problems with reliability--totally different from yours--after dropping in the accurizing kit. Tried to fix it myself and made a little progress but ended up sending an email to Volquartsen. A couple days later I had a new firing pin in the mail. That helped but I still had too many malfunctions so I sent the lower to Volquartsen. Nine days later I had a pistol that eats ammo like a pig! Volquartsen saved the day and it cost me NOTHING. So I am a customer for life and I will continue to "plug" them in comments. I went on an ammo binge so I could run a bunch of different kinds through this pistol. I have pushed about 500 rounds through it since then. CCI mini-mags, CCI standard, CCI Stingers, Fed Prem Hunter, Fed Prem HV, Fiocchi, Norma, Rem Viper, Lapua CenterX and even the silly CCI Polymer with Red, White and Blue coating go through this thing like magic. The CenterX put a 1/2 inch pattern at 25 yards free hand--and I am NO WHERE NEAR as good a shooter as you. Surprisingly, the CCI Mini Mags did just as well. THANK YOU, GOD, FOR THAT because that CenterX ammo isn't cheap! I probably don't want to push ammo that hot all the time but I had to see what works and what doesn't. I did get a surprise when the CCI copper didn't cycle. That is 1850 FPS advertised so velocity isn't the problem. Have you ever tired that ammo with any of your Ruger pistols? Any problems? I gotta try the green tag one of these days but, in the meantime, I am having a ball with this pistol. I can't wait for my suppressor to arrive. Abut another three months is what they are telling me. I'm sure another ammo binge is in my future! Thanks for the advice, info, entertainment and everything else you provide on this channel, Plinkster! Great channel.
You are so damn awesome Man! What the Hellllll! My Ruger Mark IV 22/45 makes me feel soooooo confident w/ my Double Tap skills, However every time I watch you Boss, I go back to- I gotta a lot of practice to do!!! A+++ love watching! Thank you again Plinkster!😊
Would love to see you shoot a 50 foot Precision BullsEye target one handed to show how accurate this pistol really is , I know everyone is different at shooting this style but would give us Bullseye shooters an Idea of building one or just buying a S&W model 41 .
2 things. Can I put this set up on a Ruger Mark 4 Hunter? Also how long is that lower picatinny rail? As ridiculous as this might sound, I for some reason feel like mounting a vertical Foregrip for that extra stability (Im not from the states so it wouldnt be illegal/require NFA fuckery). Essentially for a small handy little small game hunter pistol, that feels like a PDW. Now what would bring this set up to another level would be custom making a over or under flipping wire stock. Just an idea for a bad ass handy little .22 pack pistol with almost carbine like ergos, for extra accuracy at longer distances. Id be bastardizing a race gun but hell. The idea makes me warm and fuzzy inside 😌
Nice pistol I love rugers. And have wanted a mark 4 for awhile and before that be mark 3 bit still have not been shown to get one. Someday I'm hoping to.
Used to be a Ruger Mark 4, at this point it is only a minor part of the whole. The whole cannot be holstered or pocketed or dropped without big problems. But hey, can cut cards in half at 20 yards. There is a big financial profit to be made in cut cards. However, the big advantage? It is so much fun to shoot. But we men love it.
Another benefit of the Halo is that you don't pinch your fingers. I've only had mine for a couple of months and I've already pinched my fingers to draw blood twice. Halo is on the way! But man do Tandemkross take their sweet time with international orders. I ordered it in May and it just posted two days ago! (9th July)
great build. What is the full list of upgrades you did to the pistol? In hind sight, would you modify another Ruger Mark IV or get a already configured volquartsen?
Maybe a stupid question...but are Mk 4 lowers and uppers interchangeable or are they fitted to each other individually at the factory during production? I'm asking because in my country (Austria) the number of semi-automatic weapons one can legally own are limited. At the beginning after obtaining a gun ownership license the limit is two semi-automatic weapons. (No gun ownership license is needed for repeating rifles, no matter how powerful - apart from .50 BMGs which are considered weapons of war, which I think is reasonable, and non-repeating shotguns - action shotguns are forbidden but strangely enough semi-automatic ones aren't (but you need a gun ownership license) these guns included, there is a total gun limit of about 20 guns...with permission also more. After the first five years more semi-automtic weapons can be owned - normally up to 5, sometimes more, provided one can proof the "need". Self defense as a claimed need does count for a total of two (semi-automatic) guns, sports shooting for more - one has to prove that by providing shooting results from a shooting range/club). But back to the topic: One way to "bypass" the gun limit is to use conversion kits, since it is possible to own several such kits for a single gun and register them as accessories of said gun. This not only includes caliber conversions like 9mm/.22lr but also different barrels of the same caliber. Hence the question. Would it be possible to make a Hunter say a Target by just exchanging the uppers or would a gun smith be needed to do some fitting first? Same goes for the Volquartsen LLV upper which would be the most interesting option... ;-)
Plinkster, I have a basically the same pistol on a mk3. Everything Volquartsen except for the frame and bolt. I’ve been thinking about picking up a Volquartsen bolt. Why did you stay with the ruger bolt instead of getting the Volquartsen?
I really gotta ask, I really really do. Why would one pick the Luger style grip over the 1911? I'm coming from shooting larger calibers right now to wanting to buy a mk IV but I am stuck in this impasse with which grip to get but leaning to the 45 because of my familiarity to holding that.
Shot through a barrel im sold where can I buy the storm trooper blaster made by volquarzen with ruger ad ons? Seriously rugers are accurate and this one is modded up.
That is hands down the most ridiculous .22 cal I've ever seen...I love it.
This is like watching hickok45 in a parallel universe. The range setup.....
Might be too long a video to cut down the Christmas tree though!

Nice work on that competition gun. It reminds me of the gun used in an old Sci-fi movie (Logan's Run). The shot through the barrel was impressive.

What kind of mag holster is that on your hip? I like it.

Same goes for the Volquartsen LLV upper which would be the most interesting option... ;-)
They are not custom fitted to each other, so you can swap the Volquartsen upper.
Plinkster, I have a basically the same pistol on a mk3. Everything Volquartsen except for the frame and bolt. I’ve been thinking about picking up a Volquartsen bolt. Why did you stay with the ruger bolt instead of getting the Volquartsen?
this gun is awesome!!! what is the exact model ruger you used? would love to do a build of my own but a little different thanks again...cool as hell
This gun would cost $1,519.23 without the sight and the light
@2be Blunt If true that's cheaper than I thought it would be. As soon as I heard race gun I figured $5,000.
That's about $1000 cheaper than I expected...
2be Blunt
Atlas Gun Works for $4k-5k all set up from the box and miles better than the low 2011s from STI
For a 22 lol
@@conor4522 is about 450 in my city
I really gotta ask, I really really do. Why would one pick the Luger style grip over the 1911? I'm coming from shooting larger calibers right now to wanting to buy a mk IV but I am stuck in this impasse with which grip to get but leaning to the 45 because of my familiarity to holding that.
Sweeet build
Im looking into building something like that!
Just harder to find parts in Canada these days.
What’s your thumb rest??
It looks cool, but can it shoot a ".30-caliber clip to disperse with 30 bullets within half a second"?
You mention a Volquartsen magazine release, but I don't see one that they make for the MkIV. Did you use the MkIII mag release?
22plinkster can you do a review of the cz 455 varmint? anyway u're amazing
That's got to be the best Mk4 I've ever seen....
Shot through a barrel im sold where can I buy the storm trooper blaster made by volquarzen with ruger ad ons? Seriously rugers are accurate and this one is modded up.
very nice! looks like hickcock45's range ?
Almost everything... What's the price tag if I want to build one too?
