I've been a fan of Volquartsen's stuff since day one, but would love to see what that pistol would do off a bench with a scope aboard. Why? I have an old MkII 22/45 Competition Target (6 7/8" slab-side) that shoots lights out. 100 yard groups are under an inch with Eley Club, and even bulk ammo shoots half inch or better at 25...one of the least ammo-sensitive rimfires I've ever shot. Like to know if it would be worth it to get a Scorpion X upper.

Been really looking at a scorpion with open sights. Not decided on 4.5 or 6 yet. I’ll probably go with 6 for sight radius but like you say suppressor would be a little unwieldy. why dont any of the boutique makers like Volquartsen make high cap mags, most of if not all of the "big" manufactures are at 16 or 20 shot mags for the .22RF. i would venture to say that to a good % of potential buyers that might just be what pushes the sale one way or the other.

Now that demand for an 8 inch is high enough they can increase the production cost of having another length regularly assembled. $100 seems a little high, but their cost is at least $20. So I wouldn't be surprised if a company added $50

Great catch. My 16" rifle has about 6" of drop between 50 and 100 yds. I'd think more than that for a pistol. But I understand what Plinkster is talking about with the higher mountings on a red dot pistol. . Interestingly enough, if I set my pistol up for 15 yards, with a high red dot mount, my point of impact actually went up considerably at 25 and even higher at 50 yds. I put a much lower red dot mount on and took off the picatinny rail, and my point of impact shooting off a rest was very similar at the three distances.

The 22lr offerings that are plastic and pot metal that hold a reasonable amount of ammo don't interest me because they have slide cracking problems and dont seem to be built in a way that will make them just as reliable in 60 years as they are new like the old ruger has proven. My rugers were made in the 1960,s and still run as good as new after an astronomical amount of shooting. having an accurate firearm is wonderful, but if you cant hold your hand still, all that built in accuracy the pistol has isnt worth a dime...

Does anyone know how long the backorder for these uppers are? I tried emailing their sales department about the 4.5" model and they never responded.

from what I heard, the olympic pistol is a special made gun and all competitors have to use it, and it looks blocky rather ugly IMO

Finally this is the exact pistol I want, Im okay with it being a little long because I want the added accuracy of the 6” barrel. From the back of the pistol to the back of the threads where a suppressor would snug to the barrel how long is that? I have seen the measurements online and it says 12.5 but I think that is with the compensator. @.22plinkster

That doesn't quite seem like how the ballistics and trajectory of a .22 work, but ok.
