Thank you for making these videos. I still haven't installed my first gen outdoor lights because it will require some splicing. I've been very hesitant to cut the strand but you are showing that it isn't a big deal at all. Appreciate it!
A full eufy breakdown showing the wled capabilities, splitting ,extending and load the power supply can handle would be awesome. i checked out the hookup as you recommended in another comment but besides his full comparison video i didnt see any testing different possibilities
Govee needs to do a better job when it comes the ability to customize the lengths. Its crazy to assume the default lengths will work for everyone and a single extension is enough. Luckily for me I was one of the few who didn't need to splice to make it work.
Yeah I agree! Their first version (which is the one i'm using in the video) for sure lacked the customizing out of the box. However they for sure improved this on their new model they released last month which comes with a lot more options. Nice to see them take the feedback / criticism from last years model and make changed to the new Pro version.
I was doing research for a little over an hour and didnt get an anwser for any of the questions i had. This video anwsered all the question i have in a matter of a few minutes. Thank goodness for RUclips and thank goodness for your channel. Keep it up!!
Love all the videos. Have really inspired me to do more LED projects around the house. Would love if you could do a video on the Govee Christmas Lights and maybe splicing into those. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! Appreciate the support! I also would like to get to another video on those. I've really enjoyed them and would also be curious how easy or difficult it would be to customize them a little more!
If you make a Y is there a way to maintain the individual addressable aspect of the lights? Your splits are generally in series, I believe you had 1Y split but it simply copied those lights that were in parallel. Will WLED allow for individual addressing on a Y split?
CHRIS!!!!!! I'm literally in the middle of a job and needed to do a Y connection and wasn't completely sure if it could be done. I go back today to finish. I just think it's ironic how you posted this, and you've answered the exact question I had lol thank you dude 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🐐🐐🐐🐐 also you've inspired me to pursue LED Installations on and in homes. You've gave me a lot of confidence in doing it. Thank you Chris!!! If I had any further questions is there anyway I could message you? Or just comment on a video? - Ed, Absolutely Dialed Pools, Absolutely Dialed Graphics
Thanks for the video Chris. Very straightforward. I am having some issues with flickering on mine. I spliced that non-led jumper cable to itself, and my first 4 strip lights do fine. But after the jumper the last 2 strip lights flicker. My marks line up too. Could it be an LED strip issue?
If you jumped longer than 12 ft that could be the issue. It seems that around 12 ft - 14 ft is the maximum. There are other videos on YT showing that if you add a single light it will boost the signal and stop the flickering. They also pull the light out of the puck and heat shrink over it to hide it.
Hopefully I can get around to it! I am a little burnt out from all the outdoor light videos I've been doing lol but I'll see what I can do! However the pro's should all pretty much work the same as the non pro version in terms of all the videos I've done with the only exception being that the Pro version I have not been able to get to work with WLED.
Thanks for watching! Lol yeah the wire stripper is for sure a time saver! Works on pretty much all sizes of wires. I've had good luck with these for extension wires: amzn.to/3R2Q3RW or if you want to color coordinate them better this: amzn.to/417QNd5
In your demo, were you using the Outdoor Standard or the Outdoor Pro? Have you been able to get more than 9 strands linked? If you were to extend them, can you just use regular wire and if so what gauge do you think? You mentioned the Dimming, is there a way to get a 3rd party power supply to allow for the list to extend farther than 9 strands and if so do you have any suggested power supplies?
So it's a single power line and data bus that every light connects into. Smart on Govee's part, since each light's failure has no impact on the other lights (beyond if it shorted out).
Thank you very much for testing this. I have a question. My house the only outside outlet is in the center. I bought the 100ft instead of two 50s. If I cut the 100ft in half and splice before the first led, you show it working but Im assuming if you did a chase it would go out from the center in both directions instead of one end of the house to the other? Wondering if it'd just be easier to return and het 2 50s (of course with that I'm guessing I'd have to use both power packs and controls?
So with the newest version what is the longest no light “jumper” can I make without losing quality I need at least 13’ but would rather a 27 foot jump between strings to better run the wires.
No, only used for demonstration purposes. You should use a waterproof heat shrink butt or solder connector and then add marine heat shrink over all of the wires that were spliced. It adds another layer of protection against water. He shows this in one of his other videos.
Thanks for watching! So installing them backwards is not really an issue when it comes to voltage and gnd since you can figure out the correct wires and those dont matter what end of the strip they are connect to. The issue is with the data. The data has to flow in one direction (away from the controller) Its easy to see what direction that is on led strips since they have have arrows indicating this but on the govee lights, there is no arrow. So if you have one strip installed backwards, it wouldn't plug in correctly using the govee connectors and if you spliced them together where one is backwards, the backwards strip and all the strips after I'm would not work or not work correctly. I would first figure out how to install the backwards one correctly before trying any splicing .
I also installed mine backwards (had the male end of the PSU against the male end of the first string of lights). I tried cutting off the male end from the first string of lights and replacing it by splicing in the female end from the extension cord. This did not work. At all. I ended up having to reroute my PSU to meet up with the female end of the string lights. Thankfully the lights still worked but now I'm having trouble getting any power after resplicing the extension cable and going from PSU to extension cable to string lights. Anyways, all that to say, don't try swapping a male end for a female connector - it won't work due to the directionality of the data cable.
The answer is yes you can split them and even use a splitter , but the 2 split connects will act exactly the same thus kinda ruining the sequence of certain animations of your picky about it... if you do t mind that then your good to goo
I've done the 5 conductor as you did and do not have the last segment working. Do I need to reset the whole system? And if so how? The 5 - 10 second button push does not help nor unplugging everything.
Awesome video Chris. Thank you for going through so many examples of splicing, cutting and extending the govee lights. I am having some issues with mine with flickering. I cut the wire after the govee connection adapter coming from the power supply so i could fish the wire through a wall. I did this due to limited plugs on the exterior and found it better to plug the power from inside. I sploced back on the govee plug that it came with, so no external pieces were used, but i soldered the wires together instead of those clips youve been using. Do you think soldering the wires is my issue for the flicker? Keep in mind i only have two strands up of about 50 ft.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Thats a good question! No reason at least in all my experimenting should there be any issues with what you described. I would probalby just go back and double check all the wires are connected to the right ones and that all the lights are going in the correct direction. LED strips make it easy since there is an arrow on them indicating what direction the data is flowing (always needs to be going away from the controller) but the govee lights you have to be very careful as there is no indication and you just have to look at the back of the wires and line things up that way since one of the wires has that black line on them. I would also try going backwards and see if you can cut out the soldered part and re connect them again (wago clips would be easier) to see if you can get them to work and once successful, then try soldering again. No for sure answer but usually some trial and error. Also if you did cut the lights with them still plugged in, maybe something shorted out or if you did connect the voltage and ground to the wrong wires that maybe could have done something as well. But tough to say. I've never had any issues so fortunately I have not had to do any troubleshooting myself.
Question, I tried cutting short one strand and reconnected it, but now only 8 lights turn on and the 8th one is red. I tried switching to different patters and they don't switch, same thing only 8 lights working...
Another great video as always! Quick question, I purchased two 100ft. lights a while back. I'd say I ended up using about 150ft and one controller. After all the splicing, I was left with a second controller and a bunch of random strands with 3 to 4 leds. I'm trying to piece all the strands together to form one long string and take advantage of the second controller, but the leds do not light up after the 15th one. Is there something that I'm missing? I've tried different strands and resetting the lights through the controller and I can't get any of the leds past the 15th one to light up.
Thanks for watching and great question! I've never tried doing exactly what your doing but the first thing I would double check is to make sure all the lights are in the correct direction. It might not be as obvious when they are all in short cut off sections and I know i could see myself very easy connecting one the wrong way. Not much else to try though in terms of troubleshooting. But might be a perfect excuse to try getting them set up with WLED to see if they work through that program! ruclips.net/video/0-M5c2VUl5A/видео.html
@@ChrisMaherDIY Thank you very much for your response! Essentially what I'm trying to create is one super long segment with about 35 lights all from lose strands. I'll make sure everything is in the correct direction. If not, I'll try the WLED suggestion. Thanks again!
Saw another RUclipsr splice for a separate run. They lit up fine, but wouldn’t function properly in a “chase” function. The additional strip would light up the same way as the strip that it was attached to. It wouldn’t function properly in a chase sequence.
Hey Chris! I wanted to ask if you could maybe give me some feedback on something. I wanted to make a starry sky-like LED feature on my ceiling, but I don't want to use fiber optic lights creating a difficult task. My idea was to maybe use something like cork panels, drill small holes in that cork, paint the cork black, and I would attach that cork about a half an inch below my ceiling. On the ceiling will be an LED strip controlled by wLED, and I wanted to use one of the animations that would make the lights twinkle. My intention is to make the holes very small making it look like there are stars on my ceiling but also adding a sort of lively manner to the stars without having to glue 800 fiber optic lights. Can you give me your thoughts? And maybe you could do a video on some ceiling LED features to fill up the space!
Thanks for the info, my question is similar, I was thinking about using these lights to make under counter lights ….so I would start by cutting each light , spicing them together in short lengths groups of three and putting them into a channel with a clear diffuser……add a wire onto it and run it down the wall into a single gang box into my basement…..doing this numerous times for each cabinets till complete….. Once complete I would have 12 wires in my basement leading from the cabinets, I would daisy chain them together and then to the Wi-Fi source and to the power and the opposite side to the switch…… Would that work? And also still controlled by the app? If you have a better way to use Govee lights for under the counter lights I would appreciate it for any info….thanks Ps it would be great if you need a video idea to try this
I'm curious to see what the app looks like. in the app you can change every single LED does the app recognize the 2 separate strands or does it only see one?
Hey Chris.... got a question off topic of this video. Can you use ledfx with your esps being in AP mode on wled? I'm doing a set up in an RV and curious if you can do that. Thanks. I love your content. Your vids have helped me so much
Sorry if this is addressed in the video. I'm going to listen on my way home from work. Butt I've been researching so I'll know if I need to return the lights I just purchased. I just bought 2 rolls of Govee 100ft RGBIC strip (model number H618F). I need to know if I can work thru and past the "no cut" add, etc "rule". Basically wanting to keep chase functions, while dividing the Hundred feet of stand up in various places around the room.
First, thanks for all the video's. I don't do heights well, so I've got my friend who is an electrician coming out to do the high peaks on the front of the house. I did the whole back of the house myself and it works great thanks to you. One other question though, can you overcome the distance limitations on a single string by injecting power along the way? That way I can keep the lights chasing around the whole house without a break in the action.
I purchased the Govee Permanent lights 2 150ft. And then realized I needed about 15-16ft more lights. So I went ahead and purchased the Govee 16.4 extension permanent lights 2 lights, and when I connected it to the existing 150 lights, nothing, It did not work. I called Govee, and they said you can't extend the 150ft light kit, I was like WTF ... are you serious. The representative said, I already had 9 segments, and that was the most I could get with the set I have.
Are you still planning on doing a video on how to connect the Eufy lights to WLED? I’ve watch your “Connecting Govee to WLED” like 50 times and purchased what I need to do the same for my Eufy kit. Also, I need about 1 or 2 more strands beyond the 100ft. Q1: Would WLED allow me to add on to my kit? Q2: Would the Eufy power supply still work? If not, which power supply would I need?
Thanks as always for watching! Yes I still do plan on it! It should be pretty similar to the govee one but not 100% sure until I actually try it! I know Rob over at the hook up had some information on this thats for sure worth checking out! But yes I do want to still do a complete walkthrough of getting them set up to wled. Wled will allow you to add more strands beyond 100 ft. and the Eufy power supply should still work for that!
In preparation, I purchased a 36V 3A Power Supply Adapter AC 100V~240V to DC 36 Volt Converter 108W on Amazon. (This is similar to the 200ft Govee kit). Not sure if this would work or not.
I don't unfortunately! It seems that kits that have the dedicated white leds are tricky with their wled support. I have not really heard of any successes. I'll let you know if I find anything out about it!
Seen a few comments but curious on your point of view ... also love the videos thank you and funny and ironic i work for Aura ;)! Side note I ran approx 8ft of lights then cut and splice to the included 6ft connecter to about 15ft of lights then splice about 8ft connector to approx 10ft more lights and the last half of the 10ft of lights is flickering. I unconnected and reconnected each splice area to check the connection's but still appears to be flickering. Any thoughts and thank you in advance again these videos have been amazing!
This is really cool. Thanks for making this video.. I have been wondering if i can do this.. What does the app look like? Do you have the ability to use the scenes? Or control the color of each light?
Thanks so much for watching and great question! So when you splice in light, the app looks the exact same and doesn't know that data is being split. So on the first example in the video where I splice in the 8 lights, those 8 lights will do the exact same thing as the 8 lights on the main run after the splice. If the splice had 12 lights, then those 12 lights would do the exact same thing as the 12 lights on the main run after the splice.
@@ChrisMaherDIYPerfect!! I have an Eve 10’ above my ground floor eve and need to run an extension up there… Now that I now I can do this I’m excited to set it up! Thank you again for this and replying so quickly!
@@ChrisMaherDIY so are you saying that you can't control the individual led ? That instead, for example, LED #4 on the split will always be the same color as LED #4 on the main?
Have you cut and spliced the cord attached to the controller that connects to the first set of lights? If i can cut and reattach that cord safely it would make my install way easier.
Hi Chris, Ive watched all your Govee outdoor videos and I was hoping you could possibly answer a question for me please. I have bought a 100ft set up and want to put 50ft on each side of my house but the supplied 12ft extension cable is short by 8ft to join them together . If I cut the supplied 12ft cable and added a 8ft length would the next 3 sections work without flickering etc? ATB Mike StayCornish😬
For anyone Wondering Yes it worked for me. But be sure if you are running the pro lights when branching off of 6 or more strands of light use your driver - the other is fine if its under 4 strands.
Great video, thanks! Couple questions... What power supply did you use? What was the final total # of lights? And, when you split in a new section did the split in lights mirror the set they were split from, or did they act independently as a new set? I ordered the 150 ft version on Black Friday and I'm still waiting for them to be delivered. Govee has moved the delivery date back twice now :( Thanks again!
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I just used the regular power supply that the lights came with. When you split a segment, they mirror the same animation/color/effect that is happening on the longer of the segments. So on the first example in the video where I splice in the 8 lights, those 8 lights will do the exact same thing as the 8 lights on the main run after the splice. If the splice had 12 lights, then those 12 lights would do the exact same thing as the 12 lights on the main run after the splice. If you split the lights right at the begging, then both strips will do the same thing at the same time. IF one segment is longer than the other, the shorter segment will do the same thing as the longer one up until the point where it was cut. Hope that makes sense and hope they don't delay the delivery for the 3rd time!
I just received mine yesterday and will be installing them tomorrow. So glad I found your video! I’d like to splice at the beginning and then run wiring approximately 20-30 feet to the 2nd story eve before installing another strip of lights. Is there wiring (and gauge) you recommend for that?
I'm adding these to my house, and I attached a strand and only needed 2 lights before needing to jump to the 2nd story. I cut the strand after the 2nd light and added an 8 foot extension before splicing the rest of the strand I cut onto the other end of the extension. Unfortunately all the lights after the spice don't light up. The volt detector tool detects voltage going through the wire, but no lights. Any suggestions?
Hey Chris, I'm facing issues after making 1 cut to my 100ft unit. I am using 18g wire and using wago clips. it is approx 8ft jump. All led's before the jump are working (2.5 segments). 4 led's after the jump are working but flickering. Remaining leds in the 3.5 segments post jump are not working. I have changed the device settings to use all 6 strings connections and reset power adaptor several times but no luck. I've another 100ft unit too and facing exact similar issue there as well. Tried a non-wago clip and issue remains the same. Appreciate your thoughts.

First off, thank you for this video! I'm about to install the 200ft Pro version of these next week once I get the rest of the splicing materials in from Amazon. One question though: From my understanding, the app is expecting these to be installed in one continuous string, right? If that is correct, how would it know where you've added a "Y" (split) at so that the lighting effects can properly work? (i.e. say you wanted a 'chasing light' effect) How does the app handle that scenario?
Thanks so much for watching and great question! So when you splice in light, the app looks the exact same and doesn't know that data is being split. Hello Chris, thanks for all the videos. Do you know if you can extend at the end of the light string and leverage the connector after running 10 feet of wire?
Thanks for watching! So would there be about a 22 foot gap (10 feet of wire + the 12 foot connector) If so, i think that would be too long and would probably see some flickering of lights. Certainly give it a try and see what happens but my guess is you would have issues.
@@ChrisMaherDIY thanks for the response, but was thinking of cutting at the end of one strand and adding about 14 feet of wire and at the end of my 14 feet, reattaching the original Govee end so it easily plugs in to the next string set. Does that make sense?
I spliced in 4 additional lights, each in between existing lights and the app recognized the additional lights and I can still control each one of them individually. It goes like this original light-additional light-original light-additional light-original light-additional light-original light-additional light-connector
@@Irpilot good luck. I put mine up back in October. I laid it out over and over temporarily using duct tape until I got them perfectly under my soffit and I have 2 story house. Wasn’t an easy process but better than regretting lol.
I've actually done this in one of my projects. the branch off just follow the same path as the other branch. What I need to figure out is how to run 60 Nodes total in 10 different batches/props. Each prop is any where from 10' to 25' apart with a total run of 125' without losing signal. Any ideas?
Very cool! Everything worked out well it sounds like! Man thats a lot of custom work on the 60 nodes in 10 different batches/props. I would say just a lot of trial and error would be what I would start with. But also when you need things that custom, might be a good time to look at the ws2811 pixels. Those are the ones people use in those crazy music synced light shows you see all over the place.
I bought a 200ft kit pro - I can use 100ft for frontyard but i dont want lights on the side of my house and I want the other 100ft for the backyard, could a 30ft wire split (side of the house) be made and connect the other backyard lights?
I have a 150ft installed. Can I make a y split at the beginning of the last segment and extend another 50ft? Govee says can’t have it linger than 150 ft but who knows.
Thanks for watching! Great question! So my experience is that the actual length is not so much the issue (although there is a point where voltage drop will be too much and lights will not work properly) but its more the number of lights. The controllers are pre programmed to only allow a max number of lights and adding lights to a strip more than that pre set max number will result in nothing happening if that makes sense. So I think you could for sure split at the beginning of the last segment but my guess is any additional lights past the 12 that are on each segment of the non pro version would not work.
Some help? I split mine at the start with three on the first branch, then on the second branch after number two I put the driver because that's five total. the sixth went fine, but the seventh won't light. I've tried multiple strings and none of them are working.
I've picked up a 65.6' set of Govee, (not the M1's), and didn't need the last 10' of Nodes. Can I buy just the Govee controller, and power supply so I can use the last 10' some where else? I've looked but cannot find it.
Really curious if you could get extra/leftover lights to work without the Govee power supply or controller and just hooked up to third party power and WLED controller?
@@ChrisMaherDIY close, there you used the Govee power supply. I already used the one that came with mine, so I was curious if a third party one would work, And then try and connect to Wled controller?
@@Danjr704 ahh gotcha! Yeah any power supply should work as long as the volts are the same. I believe you need a 36v power supply which is what came with the Govee kit.
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I never tried extending the power cord but should be as simple as cutting and adding additional length as needed. Maybe a slight loss in voltage but tough to say what effect if any that would have on the lights without trying it out!
Do you have a email that I can ask you a question? I put in lights, but I two of the sections in backwards were the two end connections don’t lineup, I spaced it, but they’re not lighting up
Thanks for watching!
I read your reply again and now I understand the data has to go in One Direction so I’m pulling off my garage. If you have a second is there any place I can get new 3 AM adhesive?
Nice I've got some leftover wago clips I'll never use for something else. Literally like the videos of the dads who refuse to throw certain things away because "ill find something for it" lol
Well after about 10 months seems like my controller crapped the bed. They sent me a replacement set of lights but I paid someone to install. The new set is the newer model so it’s not backwards compatible with the lights I’ve already installed. Anyone have any luck with finding a replacement controller?
So i tried shortening one strand, and when i was splicing back the wires, the lights worked fine. Then about 10 lights where flickering white and now only 10 lights work even though i try changing patterns, they wont turn on. Any clue?
@ChrisMaherDIY, I know govee says not more than 150ft on single controller. Can I split that 150ft line somewhere in between with 2 or 3 additional extension strings? So that, one path of Y connection is 150ft, other path of Y is 30ft. Is it okay to do or will there be issues?
Does anyone have a link to the clips that come with the outdoor lights? I’ve tried several options from Amazon and they all suck compared to the ones that come with the set.
What do you mean by that? I'm currently branching off of 150 ft to one side of the house and the other side is the other 50 ft. @ 4:25 is he running the main source to two female wires?
Is there some kind of raffle we can buy tickets to, that the winner gets you to hang out in one room for 3 hours putting in the LED lights of our dreams? I'd buy 1,000 tickets AND pay for materials... 😝❤ You make it all look sooo easy.

Thank you for making these videos. I still haven't installed my first gen outdoor lights because it will require some splicing. I've been very hesitant to cut the strand but you are showing that it isn't a big deal at all. Appreciate it!
Same here! Warm day. Might be watching this from a ladder.
A full eufy breakdown showing the wled capabilities, splitting ,extending and load the power supply can handle would be awesome. i checked out the hookup as you recommended in another comment but besides his full comparison video i didnt see any testing different possibilities
Agreed with eufy being a trusted brand and this a new product all the options beyond what eufy recommends would be awesome
But the price and lack of availability kinda sucks. That's a huge jump in price.
Thank you Chris for doing all this testing!
@@TechWithBrett thanks so much for watching and the kind words! Love your channel!
I was doing research for a little over an hour and didnt get an anwser for any of the questions i had. This video anwsered all the question i have in a matter of a few minutes. Thank goodness for RUclips and thank goodness for your channel. Keep it up!!
Excellent video, thank you! I have to imagine that this makes finger sketching the lights rather interesting as well.
Thanks for watching! Yes, fingersketch would be interesting lol!
Nice, im installing right now. How does the app read the spilt?
Good to see WAGO in action, video inspired me to consider as well for LED Projekts, thx!
Yes!! The video I have been waiting for thank you!
I wish they would make a black version. That would blend in with my house color better. Thank you for the videos!
You are very welcome! Thankfully the Pro version does come in black. amzn.to/3uF9ed7
What do you know about a 40’ jump from one segment to the next? 😅
@@ChrisMaherDIY hey chris, thanks for all the helpful vids. In your experiments have you ever figured out the max extension length?
Need to do this to complete that awkward small center peak on my house.
Can you do more tests with the Pro version of the govee lights similar to what youve done with the non pro version?
Hopefully I can get around to it! I am a little burnt out from all the outdoor light videos I've been doing lol but I'll see what I can do! However the pro's should all pretty much work the same as the non pro version in terms of all the videos I've done with the only exception being that the Pro version I have not been able to get to work with WLED.
I’d like a demo on that wire stripper ! Also if you need an extension , what wire should you use ?
I just ordered one using the link Chris provided. Good tool for that price…!!
18 gauge wire
Thanks for watching! Lol yeah the wire stripper is for sure a time saver! Works on pretty much all sizes of wires. I've had good luck with these for extension wires: amzn.to/3R2Q3RW or if you want to color coordinate them better this: amzn.to/417QNd5

Thanks for the links…!!
Thank you for answering this!!
Awesome tutorials. Question. What’s the best way to connect a 150ft Govee with 100ft Govee H705c permanent lighting?
Are those waygo connectors waterproof? I thought they weren't rated for outdoor use
No, only used for demonstration purposes. You should use a waterproof heat shrink butt or solder connector and then add marine heat shrink over all of the wires that were spliced. It adds another layer of protection against water. He shows this in one of his other videos.
Great video as always, but say you accidentally installed a section of lights backwards, can you still splice into them and have them work correctly?
Have you found another power source for extra strands to use elsewhere
Can the splicing be done at the beginning of the strand?
Do you have to get the PRO version of these to be able to splice them?
Hi Chris how are you,
Just wondering if you could inject power to the LED cover strand to stop flickering thanks in advance
Thanks so much for watching! I have not tried injecting any power with these kits but its certainly worth trying to see if it makes a difference!
Once complete I would have 12 wires in my basement leading from the cabinets, I would daisy chain them together and then to the Wi-Fi source and to the power and the opposite side to the switch……
Would that work? And also still controlled by the app?
If you have a better way to use Govee lights for under the counter lights I would appreciate it for any info….thanks
Ps it would be great if you need a video idea to try this
I'm curious to see what the app looks like. in the app you can change every single LED does the app recognize the 2 separate strands or does it only see one?
Thanks, Chris.
I’m pretty sure you can extend up to 150’ including blank extension.
Ok thanks so much! Your walk throughs are amazing and give me the confidence to try something new and create something awesome!
Chris, do you have any experience in the Nanoleaf permanent outdoor lights? I am wanting to splice them and maybe see if they work with wled.
I’m wondering if the Pro’s would have the same affect
Hi Chris,
Ive watched all your Govee outdoor videos and I was hoping you could possibly answer a question for me please.
I have bought a 100ft set up and want to put 50ft on each side of my house but the supplied 12ft extension cable is short by 8ft to join them together . If I cut the supplied 12ft cable and added a 8ft length would the next 3 sections work without flickering etc?

4:18 was that hot hot splice going to both males or female wires? im going to attempt to splice today - Help!
For anyone Wondering Yes it worked for me. But be sure if you are running the pro lights when branching off of 6 or more strands of light use your driver - the other is fine if its under 4 strands.
Hello, do you know if it is possible to add an extension to Govee LED strip H619E?
@@ChrisMaherDIY Yes, that makes perfect sense. Thanks for the detailed explanation! Much appreciated...
I just received mine yesterday and will be installing them tomorrow. So glad I found your video! I’d like to splice at the beginning and then run wiring approximately 20-30 feet to the 2nd story eve before installing another strip of lights. Is there wiring (and gauge) you recommend for that?
I bought 18 gauge for my install. When you use smaller gauge you increase resistance so that could lead to flickering
I wonder what the "chase" feature looks like on the spliced line.
Thanks so much for watching! So when you splice in light, the app looks the exact same and doesn't know that data is being split. Makes sense!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Got it, that makes sense. I appreciate the response!
Chris, I removed 4 lights off
the third string in a line of 7 strings. How is that going to affect the end result?
ty, and thanks for the info on aura. I will take a gander at it.
I spliced in 4 additional lights, each in between existing lights and the app recognized the additional lights and I can still control each one of them individually. Very cool! Everything worked out well it sounds like! Man thats a lot of custom work on the 60 nodes in 10 different batches/props. I bought a 200ft kit pro - I can use 100ft for frontyard but i dont want lights on the side of my house and I want the other 100ft for the backyard, could a 30ft wire split (side of the house) be made and connect the other backyard lights?
Are govee or eufy permanent outdoor lights better in your opinion. Do either support HomeKit
I've tried multiple strings and none of them are working.
can these wago switch be used outdoors? what can we use to cover those for outdoors?
I've picked up a 65.6' set of Govee, (not the M1's), and didn't need the last 10' of Nodes. Can I buy just the Govee controller, and power supply so I can use the last 10' some where else? I've looked but cannot find it.

Now do the Eufy outdoor lights
Hi, did you install Adressable RGB lights in a car with WLED?
What about extending power chord?
Thanks so much for watching and great question! I never tried extending the power cord but should be as simple as cutting and adding additional length as needed. Maybe a slight loss in voltage but tough to say what effect if any that would have on the lights without trying it out!
Do you have a email that I can ask you a question? I put in lights, but I two of the sections in backwards were the two end connections don’t lineup, I spaced it, but they’re not lighting up
Thanks for watching!
I read your reply again and now I understand the data has to go in One Direction so I’m pulling off my garage. If you have a second is there any place I can get new 3 AM adhesive?
Ha, those wires are cooked! 😂 Thanks for cutting them up and experimenting for us!
Any clue?
If i need an extension cord, can someone suggest what i can use. The 100 comes with so few extenstions. Any third party suggestions?
@ChrisMaherDIY, I know govee says not more than 150ft on single controller. Can I split that 150ft line somewhere in between with 2 or 3 additional extension strings? So that, one path of Y connection is 150ft, other path of Y is 30ft. Is it okay to do or will there be issues?
Does anyone have a link to the clips that come with the outdoor lights? I’ve tried several options from Amazon and they all suck compared to the ones that come with the set.
That's a good question! I have not seen anything but I'll keep looking and let you know if something pops up.
Has anyone tried putting the split/splice in one of the extender lines instead? Would that work the same?
If anyone is wondering about this - yes, you can split the line on an extender, and it works just fine. At least, it did for me.
What do you mean by that? I'm currently branching off of 150 ft to one side of the house and the other side is the other 50 ft. @ 4:25 is he running the main source to two female wires?
HELL YES thank you!
Is there some kind of raffle we can buy tickets to, that the winner gets you to hang out in one room for 3 hours putting in the LED lights of our dreams? I'd buy 1,000 tickets AND pay for materials... 😝❤ You make it all look sooo easy.
Lol appreciate the love! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
anyone has tried and tested this for a longer period of time? Any feedback? I think I will attempt this with my 150 feet.
Anyone who needs installation in Kansas, Missouri or near the border of Nebraska I have done 2 installs of both versions, and 10 years of the commercial c9 stringers and am available for service, repair, modify, etc. I'll follow up on here or check my about me
Hey Chris I left a ? for you over on your cut extend govee video. If possible could you check it out for me. Thanks in advance
I found it! Hope that gives you a few things to try!
I didn’t get anything from this at all lol …
