The degree of subtlety and sensitivity with which they've approached the exploration of the psyche/mind has been a source of wonder and admiration for me since their debut. This is concept was INCREDIBLY executed. The gory, dark vibe of this M/V really fits Bang Chan, and he was able to use that to bring an artwork to life. Congratulations king!
Chan knows how to drive us crazy, but it's even crazier knowing how good he is at doing it. The concept, the voice, the sound, the lyrics, the performance, the way he acts so bold yet smoothly. He knows he's doing it best ♡
When I first watched this MV, I was kinda surprised. Was expecting sth different more along the lines of the concert performance. I mean, you can easily make a vampire concept quite sexy. But this was dark instead, which surprised me. But after watching this music video for like the thousandth time, I now think it's brilliant, cause there is so much room for different interpretations. As Chan said in the HOP Intro: Interpret the song as you like. So here are my two cents on that: Interpretation 1: The concert performance interpretation that ignores the MV The train that never sleeps as a "romantic" ;) relationship that becomes more and more intense and inevitable (ticket that says one trip - no turning back hold tight onto them railings - need no break - the engines go insane). A roller coaster ride of emotions, overcoming all obstacles (our lane, it rains, as long as we head en route, fear is dead, no doubt - don't you care about the casualties, cause it's safe when it's just you and me) Interpretation 2: The obsessive personality interpretation - MV interpretation The train that never sleeps as a symbol for Bang Chan's state of mind, his obsession with his work, his inability to stop thinking and worrying about everything, from the details of the production process of skz's songs and performances, his own perceived inadequacies and insecurities (Chan - you are perfect, the way you are!) to the safety and happiness of his 7 kids. This inability to stop worrying may have also resulted in his insomnia - and may have lead to Bang Chan's desire to vanquish these obsessive tendencies and sensitivities of his in order to be happier and become more relaxed. The MV would fit with this interpretation, as his obsessive thoughts could be symbolized by the dark vampire Chan that wakes up again and again wreaking havoc to Bang Chan's mental health symbolized by the prisoners - turning all his thoughts into worries and obsessions - turning them literally into vampires that suck the life blood out of you. The white Chan would then be the voice of reason that tries to banish these obsessive thoughts and worries again and again - but it's hard to keep worries and bad thoughts away, so the cycle begins again - dark vampire Chan comes back to life and has to be banished again. That's what mental health is about I guess - it's a constant battle with oneself. Interpretation 3: The path to success interpretation - MV interpretation The train that never sleeps as a symbol for Bang Chan's ambitious path to global success and his regrets on the way. In this case dark vampire Chan would represent Bang Chan's earlier self during his training and debut days. The members and he himself keep saying that he was kind of sensitive back then and more of a strict leader - which probably was a good thing since it got them where they are today. But still - Bang Chan wanted to change his relationship with his members - be on a more equal footing with his 7 kids and not tiptoed around anymore. He wants to be less sensitive and more relaxed, which is hard for him. As such it's a constant battle between the more sensitive and the more relaxed Chan - represented by the constant battle btw dark vampire Chan and white Chan in the MV. The casualties that the song talks about, represented by the prisoners that MV Chan turns into vampires, could then stand for the casualties of his kids' feelings and the impact his sensitivity had on their relationship in the beginning of their career - or it could be also a reference to his friends form his training days that he had to leave behind on his way to debut in order to make it himself - making him feel guilty for his own success. This would maybe explain the banner inscriptions about bad deeds coming back to you and whatnot. In the end this is all speculation and only Chan knows what his thought process was writing this song. And anyway - I think he mixes in different insinuations in the lyrics and MV on purpose just to make it more ambiguous and appealing to fans' delusions. But that''s what's so great about Chan's music and this particular song and music video as well. Music should make people feel however they want to feel - so there really can be no wrong interpretation.

Chan is truly a genius. You can see how his expression changed when the 'bad' meets the 'good', after being cocky and all. That seems like a minor expression changes, but it's THERE and it's OBVIOUS. I really can't comprehend how good he is at expressing it.

What a cruel world this is. In such a place, he had no choice but to survive, even if it meant sacrificing others along the way. It feels as though he’s telling himself, “Stay strong, be ruthless,” while silently carrying a deep, unshakable despair. To me, this song feels like a confession to his friends who were overwhelmed by the harsh realities of being idols and left too soon. As an idol, a creator, and a leader, he had to be relentless-like riding a runaway train with no brakes. I’ve long since given up on the idea of making everyone I meet happy, but Bang Chan’s strong sense of responsibility won’t let him do the same. That’s probably why he carries such deep anguish. Thank you for sharing your struggles with us and turning them into such an incredible song-I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am.

Everything about this is fucking ART. This is one of my favorite things Chan has ever done and I'm so glad we got to see a newer side of him with this song. Chan knows how to drive us crazy, but it's even crazier knowing how good he is at doing it. The concept, the voice, the sound, the lyrics, the performance, the way he acts so bold yet smoothly. He knows he's doing it best ♡
When I first watched this MV, I was kinda surprised. Was expecting sth different more along the lines of the concert performance. I mean, you can easily make a vampire concept quite sexy. But this was dark instead, which surprised me. But after watching this music video for like the thousandth time, I now think it's brilliant, cause there is so much room for different interpretations. As Chan said in the HOP Intro: Interpret the song as you like. So here are my two cents on that:
Interpretation 1: The concert performance interpretation that ignores the MV
The train that never sleeps as a "romantic" ;) relationship that becomes more and more intense and inevitable (ticket that says one trip - no turning back hold tight onto them railings - need no break - the engines go insane). A roller coaster ride of emotions, overcoming all obstacles (our lane, it rains, as long as we head en route, fear is dead, no doubt - don't you care about the casualties, cause it's safe when it's just you and me)
Interpretation 2: The obsessive personality interpretation - MV interpretation
The train that never sleeps as a symbol for Bang Chan's state of mind, his obsession with his work, his inability to stop thinking and worrying about everything, from the details of the production process of skz's songs and performances, his own perceived inadequacies and insecurities (Chan - you are perfect, the way you are!) to the safety and happiness of his 7 kids. This inability to stop worrying may have also resulted in his insomnia - and may have lead to Bang Chan's desire to vanquish these obsessive tendencies and sensitivities of his in order to be happier and become more relaxed. The MV would fit with this interpretation, as his obsessive thoughts could be symbolized by the dark vampire Chan that wakes up again and again wreaking havoc to Bang Chan's mental health symbolized by the prisoners - turning all his thoughts into worries and obsessions - turning them literally into vampires that suck the life blood out of you. The white Chan would then be the voice of reason that tries to banish these obsessive thoughts and worries again and again - but it's hard to keep worries and bad thoughts away, so the cycle begins again - dark vampire Chan comes back to life and has to be banished again. That's what mental health is about I guess - it's a constant battle with oneself.
Interpretation 3: The path to success interpretation - MV interpretation
The train that never sleeps as a symbol for Bang Chan's ambitious path to global success and his regrets on the way. In this case dark vampire Chan would represent Bang Chan's earlier self during his training and debut days. The members and he himself keep saying that he was kind of sensitive back then and more of a strict leader - which probably was a good thing since it got them where they are today. But still - Bang Chan wanted to change his relationship with his members - be on a more equal footing with his 7 kids and not tiptoed around anymore. He wants to be less sensitive and more relaxed, which is hard for him. As such it's a constant battle between the more sensitive and the more relaxed Chan - represented by the constant battle btw dark vampire Chan and white Chan in the MV. The casualties that the song talks about, represented by the prisoners that MV Chan turns into vampires, could then stand for the casualties of his kids' feelings and the impact his sensitivity had on their relationship in the beginning of their career - or it could be also a reference to his friends form his training days that he had to leave behind on his way to debut in order to make it himself - making him feel guilty for his own success. This would maybe explain the banner inscriptions about bad deeds coming back to you and whatnot.
In the end this is all speculation and only Chan knows what his thought process was writing this song. And anyway - I think he mixes in different insinuations in the lyrics and MV on purpose just to make it more ambiguous and appealing to fans' delusions. But that''s what's so great about Chan's music and this particular song and music video as well. Music should make people feel however they want to feel - so there really can be no wrong interpretation.

Stray Kids are really, really good at double meanings, ambiguity and leaving things open to interpretation. I feel like he maybe wrote the song thinking of one thing, designed his concert performance for maximum immediate impact, and then took the opportunity of the MV to explore a different interpretation entirely.
Chan is truly a genius. You can see how his expression changed when the 'bad' meets the 'good', after being cocky and all. That seems like a minor expression changes, but it's THERE and it's OBVIOUS. I really can't comprehend how good he is at expressing it.

What a cruel world this is. In such a place, he had no choice but to survive, even if it meant sacrificing others along the way. It feels as though he’s telling himself, “Stay strong, be ruthless,” while silently carrying a deep, unshakable despair.
To me, this song feels like a confession to his friends who were overwhelmed by the harsh realities of being idols and left too soon. As an idol, a creator, and a leader, he had to be relentless-like riding a runaway train with no brakes.
I’ve long since given up on the idea of making everyone I meet happy, but Bang Chan’s strong sense of responsibility won’t let him do the same. That’s probably why he carries such deep anguish.

@sabrinebaidi947 well the first meaning is what we all understood before the MV, but with the MV it gave it a different point of view which is Chan’s struggles between his dark self and light self (good and evil if you will) and his “rough” journey which is going on and on in a cycle “train never sleeps” so each time his dark self gets unleashed his light self will try to suppress him and going in circles
