I really dig this watch. I hope Oris makes it in Titanium or Stainless Steel. Its a great size, design, and the colors are on point. Bonus points for being from an independent brand. Thanks Richard for allowing me some hands on with this watch!

In my opinion Zelos is the only one that did the bronze bracelet right, Bronze on top and Stainless Steel underneath !

+ 1 on fan of this cotton candy series (all 3 colors). Not only is size/comfort great for either men/women but gotten serious attention, compliments and curiosity (what is it). Only comment I usually get with other Swiss watches is "is it real".

Actually totally agree with your sentiments about Oris. They've mafe some really bold moves that I like and respect in the past 5 years. The ProPilot X in particular is the best example. If it had any other name on the dial besides Oris people would be raging about the value.
Anyway, Oris obviously has an incredible design team. 5-10 years ago Oris had some interesting pieces, but "interesting" in the Ball sense, that they mainly appealed to enthusiasts and grey market bargain hunters, whereas now, their designs are timeless masterpieces that I think are really elevating the brand. They have done their homework for sure.

This series is such a breath of fresh air to the watch industry. Young, vibrant, unusual, turn-head, stunning. Agree that it is overcharged, actually Oris should lower all its watches' price. They are generally expensive compared to Hamilton or Tissot.

I’m a big time watch nerd. I work in the industry for a top 10 Swiss brand and I absolutely love this watch. This is just fun, unique, and brings back the kid in me of wearing something and smiling. Is it a serious watch? No. Is it meant to be a top contender in its price range? I don’t think so. I think it’s a niche fun product and I’m so for it. I’ll be picking this up soon as a fun watch for my collection. Probably get some fun nato straps and have a colorful wrist presence.

I have to agree Bruce, we should be offered this in a steel or titanium case. That would really widen the possible interested audience for sales. I really respect Oris as a brand who are happy to take chances given that they are far smaller than some of the larger brands. That they introduced the in house designed cal 400 could have been a huge risk but they back it up by a 10 year service and warranty, I live my Aquis 41.5 cal 400.

I purchased the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date 2021 Holstein Limited Edition. I hadn’t heard anything about it and luckily found it at an AD. I’ve always liked their pointer dates but the hands and bezel just didn’t do it for me and I wanted something under 40mm but not quite 36mm. It’s perfect, really made me decide to take a pause in my purchasing for a while.

My sentiments exactly . Most of us have been there regarding specs , quality etc and we more than have this covered many times over . What really captures my imagination now is design , colour , character etc . With these pieces I don’t care if it is in-house has a decorated movement , monster loom etc . Design that speaks to me , decent accuracy and comfort on the wrist then I am in . These pieces are there to make you smile .. I’m really not a fan of bronze however these in 40mm stainless steel would be fantastic..,

I think you nailed the issues I have with Oris. They are competing in a very tough price category. I find it hard to justify spending $2,000ish on a watch with a generic movement when I can go with Hamilton, Tissot, and Christopher Ward for much cheaper and essentially get a watch with the same movement. Then you factor in the direct competition of Sinn, Longines, and Ball at the $2,000 price range who are offering some great features on their movements such as anti-magnetism and COSC movements, it becomes hard to justify buying Oris. Their new cal. 400 movements looks awesome but at $3,500 for an Aquis with the cal. 400 movement, why not just go Tudor or save up a bit more and go Omega? Obviously your points all go out the window though if you look at the Aquis, Diver 65, or pointer date and just fall in love with the aesthetics of the watch.

Bruce I also love Oris but I'm not a bronze fan. The Aquis, Diver 65 and Big Crown Pointer Date ranges (in stainless steel) are all fantastic!! On my list is the new Cal 400 Aquis blue 41.5 like the one you are wearing. Golidilocks size and proportions for my 6.8inch wrist. Keep em coming Bruce - great production as always...

Powerful statement slipped in there - the more experienced collector isn't as interested in bang for buck. 100% agree btw, I think as we get more experienced we get more confident and as a result come to trust aesthetics more and specs less. And yet, a controversial thing to say.

Glad to see that you regularly feature one or another Oris watch on your channel, Bruce! Really appreciate the brand as well. I got three Oris watches in the past and currently still do own my awesome looking teal dial Clean Ocean Limited Edition Aquis! I think their 'cotton candy' looks cool but I'm definitely no fan of bronze at all. Your video of the watch clearly shows how the bronze quickly turns dark and imho dirty looking. I know you can refresh the look but c'mon... who often would your really do this when owning such a watch? Therefore I'm really looking forward to a steel or titanium version as well! Thanks for showing Bruce, keep it up.

Nice looking watch. Oris are on a roll with their success so they can get away with this overcharging. As an enthusiast who values bang for the buck I’d never buy one because I know I was being screwed over a little just for the privilege of having a pretty design with ‘Swiss made’ printed on the dial. That said, you pay for good design and a good brand name so I can see why they are so desirable for many people.

  • @watchchimp3102

I agree, that watch would look better in steel! I was thinking there might be a market in people swapping the gutz out of a steel D65 into the bronze and vice versa. The normal D65 would look great in the Bronze and the candy in the steel!
I think as these are, they are intended to appeal to affluent Rodeo Drive housewives for whom a $3K pink watch is a fashion accessory, not serious watch people.
If the price was a little more, reasonable and it was SS, I'd be down for it!
That said, in a year or so, when the watch starts to tarnish, I think the housewives will be moving those on and they'll be a bargain in the secondary market!

I like especially what you said about value. If oris prices something at 4 grand, they better understand that’s Tudor sea master range for me and I’ll never pick their oris over them. They need to choose their prices carefully and provide value.

I absolutely love the size of that watch I love the bronze it’s beautiful, and 38 mm absolutely perfect I have 7 inch wrists or about 7.2 and this would be perfect but I cannot get past that colour it’s like someone threw a Smurf into the mix when they were making a classy chandelier, it makes no sense to me. If it was a light pastel yellow or a mild orange I could get past it.
It also doesn’t help that my high school car was a powder blue 1978 Dodge Monaco and everyone said “oh here comes RJ with his Smurf car” lols This colour brings back nightmares ;-). It also just looks too much like an Easter egg in my opinion, why oh why do they have to go with this colour!! If the classics didn’t have a colour like that, no way would I want this now. It doesn’t look correct. The Doxa Orange, for example, it just works. And even the other colours Doxa has branched into are done with class.

2nd hand is the way to buy these Oris 65, then the price is more appropriate. Just bought my own 65 for $900 used but new condition, only regret I have is listening to random robs recommendation of the 42mm size, these watches wear large, 42 feels like a 44 with that slim bezel and long lug to lug.

Diver 65 in general isn't mainstream because for the longest time they were 42mm and too long, the lume is garbage and the water resistance was only 100m. The 100m I was fine with. Not the others. Is's strength are it's gorgeous rich dials. But that's it.

Oris would've been really smart to release these in two-tone steel and rose gold - lots of unisex appeal there. I can see a lot of people thinking these look great in a jewelers window, then they get them home and a few months later they are an ugly brown color and stink. Bronze smells. No thanks.
