- Oris' vintage reissue collection is one of our favorites released in recent years, particularly under the $5,000 price point! Today, we're reviewing the Oris Big Crown Pointer Date and three Divers Sixty-Five models.

Today, we dive into the Oris collection, courtesy of London Jewelers! What we have here are 7 watches, all falling into 3 sub-categories. The first is the Big Crown Pointer Date. The line comes in either 36mm or 40mm in diameter, with a range of dial colors from black to mint green, and both steel and bronze cases. At $1600 on a strap, and $1800 on a bracelet, they're a tremendous value prop, and it's hard to argue with the style and functionality of a watch with a big crown and a legible dial.
Next up, we have the Divers Sixty-Five collection. Oris' original divers were released in 1965, hence the name, and much of their original style has been ported over to these new models. While the originals were 36mm in diameter, these new editions are (for the most part) 40mm in diameter, but unlike other watches that don't handle the change in sizing well when it comes to reinterpreting the design language that made the watch work in the first place, Oris nails it. At $2100 on bracelet, and $1850 on strap, what we have here is another major contender for value prop of the decade.
Lastly, we have the...Divers Sixty-Five collection??? Okay, so Oris seem to have two separate Divers 65 ranges. The first is the one we previously discussed, and the next is this, with a wider selection of sizes and dial configurations. And that's...where the differences end, quite honestly. There isn't a whole lot else to talk about on that front, but regardless of the weirdness of the model names, what Oris have created here and across their range is not only impressive, but outright incredible. I love Oris, they jazz things up yet keep things simple and interesting on all their watches, the 65, Aquis, moon phase and big crown.
I must say the big crown is winning me over on my next watch purchase.
Premium quality under £2000, love it!
I’m a huge fan of Oris and I would have at least 2 more of them : big crown and a diver 65 with part bronze bezel .. I own a big crown 38mm anniversary moon phase and I’m so proud of it ;)
4:33 wow this will be my next Oris for sure!! It's stunning on bracelet and adorable on strap.
"I just don't think that you can introduce something with an entirely new dial configuration and call it the same model."
Christian, I agree that it is somewhat confusing. However, I would argue that Rolex does the exact same thing with the Datejust. There are so many dial configurations of that watch.
A superb review of Oris! You have given me an appetite for Oris watches.
It'd be interesting to see your thoughts on Mido.
Love ORIS ! Great episode
Thank you perfect timing as I am actually trying to choose between these 2 models, so far I’m leaning towards diver 65 with light blue/ grey dial on a fabric striped strap with a Bracelet as an alternative strap option
You’ve really helped with this perfect timed video
Thanks and have you both have a great Christmas 🎁
My favorite watches, got the Divers 65, Aquis, and Big Crown Small Seconds
Love what Oris is doing with special releases on roberto clemente big crown and Brashear diver 65. Also their new in house movement
Well done! Love me some Oris
Love Love Love the “Burgundy” Big Crown Pointer Date - AD mentioned they believe it was going to be discontinued soon (but not sure if they are correct)...I think it’s a must for the collection!!!
Love on the review Sir, have a Oris big crown rose gold two tone on a two tone bracelet I've had for over 12 years now that I absolutely love, the difference with the big crown they offer now to the one I have is that on the dial going around in a circle with the Arabic numbers is a honeycomb texture design which gives it a little pop. Have had it for around 12 years now with no problems(knock on wood) excellent watch to have the pleasure of owning. Really looking forward to owning the mint green one very soon😁👍🏾. Love your vids. 🙏🏾😌Be Safe;-).
I have a Pointerdate (80th anniversary) and I LOVE it
Owner of the Diver 65 40 mm and i am living it! Thinking about buying Big crown.
I like the Big Crown Pointer date.
But my favourite from Oris that they currently make is the Big Crown 1917 Limited Edition.
That is just cool.
Love the design language of Oris but I would like better tolerance on the accuracy of the movement for the price range ;)
The aquis is awesome too
Great video, great watches!
I bought my first Oris to match my Audi R8, so naturally I got one of their Audi Sport watches. It matches wonderfully, and I actually really like the watch! I love the dial numerals... adore the super lume, love the bit of depth it has, and really like the bezel actually! This single watch now makes me want to get 3 different more Oris's and I actually have them to choose from. And they are priced pretty damn good used I must say.... This will be happening soon after I get my first rolex and omega in my collection!
Can’t wait for them to upload the engagement video
I like both series, also the Pro Pilot X. As you said, they just have done the details, vibe and most importantly, the price right.
When Oris first released their vintage diver reissue, it had a real rivet bracelet :-) The tudor bracelet rivets (in the modern) are just steel caps on the bracelet. Their Miles Davis line of watches is still one of my absolute favorite designs they have ever made. Banana-lugs absolutely kill on those older tank and tonneau cases. The newer stuff is well done, but miss the old "jazz" creativity that was there in that specific line. Otherwise, totally agree. Smashing value and their watches are very dependable.
Oris Aquis missing mention. Might have been a good idea to include in this video to round off.
Not a vintage vibe though, amazing watch non the less👌
Video titled "Oris collection" not vintage inspired collection. I think you and the channel are missing the point. Bringing the Aquis in rounds up the collection. Leaving it out leaves the video incomplete and short of perfection.
If you had dug a little deeper historically, you would know that the Big Crown watch was and is a pilot's watch ; therefore the crown is big because a pilot might wind his watch while wearing gloves.
I love the way Christian just speaks his mind regardless
of how it might insult whomever at Oris. I love it!
I found the Big Crown Pointer Date 36mm listed as a
“Lady’s Watch” on two popular sellers’ websites.
Brilliant! I’ll pass. They need to straighten that out.
Great POV on Oris...but now I’m craving Hop Kee!
Love my Chronoris and really want the 39mm Diver 65
I've had an alpinist for the cathedral hands and splash of color, but the big crown somehow does it better and in a more elegant way.
Great video!
I'm looking into the oris big crown pointer date as my first entry level luxury time piece and you release this video.....is it a sign?!!?!?
nice watch + great sweater
Love ORIS !!!!!
Keep up the good job
Oris makes some really nice watches.
very nice watches... i am seriously considering the big crown... the diver 65 is extreeemly cool as vell.
Had to pause at 4:40 to comment. I would generally, but not always, buy a watch on a bracelet, given the option, but the light blue-grey Pointer Date in particular paired with the bracelet is something of a revelation. The dial and bracelet compliment each other so well that they must be paired together. Get the strap as well and achieve high levels of versatility.
Well done....
Awesome vid dude.i too appreciate this brands vision..the aquis and other new divers are mezmerizing as well.i think nato straps take the focus and sense of symmetry away from the watch and make it look..well,odd🤷
Looks amazing in a bracelet.
I wish you had also look at the Big crown calculator....
Oris straps come in both Ladies or Gents. The Gents tapers less. The quick release and workmanship leather straps are my favourite. So much so, that I have purchased separately to put with my other watches.
Yeaaaaaa, Bloomfield NJ haha
Love the Big Crown, it really is an interesting look, but the movement at that price lacks any decoration, like you'd get with Stowa, Longines, etc at that price point, only real complaint
Red Pointer Date 😍 Mini-grail, definitely saving up for it
BC3 Advanced missing. Please review to round off ORIS exhibition., I´ve been having a hard time finding info on this one, would be great if you could review it, you guys are the best. Thanks and greetings.
I really appreciate the Pointer Date. The part that stopped me from buying one was that the typeface used for the number 4 is inconsistent on the dial. I know that it's nit-picky, but if it is going to bother me, it's going to bother me.
I love that 4
i love the pointer date i had one and went on a walking holiday and yes i slipped and fell and smashed it. should have worn the gshock
The Big Crown Pointer Date looks amazing on a BonKlip bracelet by Fostner
I'm 6'2" and wear a 36mm Big Crown Pointer Date, I have a 7.25" wrist but have always worn vintage pieces. Don't knock it until you try it!
I never thought about Oris much, until the last several months, I'm not going to say it will be my next luxury or semi luxury watch, but it will be something for the future, they're not priced insanely and could pull off going to an AD. I do have a latest model Semaster 300m which I adore, initially wanted a Speedmaster and that may be the next saver, don't need a special edition, or fancy complications, just something 40mm and above, can be hand wound or automatic. While I've never been a Rolex super fan, oddly I love the Explorer, or Explorer II, while it doesn't have to be new, I don't want vintage, same with the Speedmaster. I do like the Oris Aquis, I think for the money it's a lot of watch, and understand it doesn't have an in house movement. And you mentioned bracelet/strap. I was informed, always buy bracelet even if you plan on changing it. The cost of getting one in the future is well worth going that route. There are many including yours, good quality leather straps that can be changed out. Merry Christmas, and say hi to your father.
Michael Paris I have the oris Aquis. I have many watches. Aquis is amazing. It gets attention the others don’t 🤷🏼♂️. It has in house movement. It’s reworked “caliber”. I guess they get away with saying that due to modifications. Any who they are bomb.com
what happened to the pointer date on 5:11 ?
What was the model that had the Hawker Hunter on the end of the seconds sweep pointer??
Nice pullover! Where'd you get it? As for Oris--is the big crown 36mm available in all colors or select?
Christian-which dial/size configuration of the divers 65 would you go for?
Oris bracelet is one of the most comfortable.
At 4:30 mins, is that a 36mm or 40mm on bracelet?
do you know anything about the Norwood version of the original vintage oris diver with nonmoving fixed bezel?
"Niiiiiice! Crunchayyyy!"
Show us the 36mm and the 40mm divers?
First comment. Great video BTW, I love Oris as a brand, for what they stand for and the quality they offer at their price point.
do you know anything about the Norwood "Oris Diver 65" 7-jewel manual wind?
should i trade my Chopard Mille Miglia in for the Oris 80th anniversary green one?
What brand of glasses do you wear? I've been looking for a pair of that model that has adjusters(?) at the nose bridge, but with no luck. Not sure what the correct term is here, but hopefully you get what I mean.
I got some from Burberry that has those nose pads.
Whoever edited this and added the clicking sound, please don't.
whats wrong with it?
DEXVD Do you mean ticking sound? I didn’t even notice until you mentioned it.
I dont understand why they would advertise the 36 as a women’s watch instead of unisex.
When i purchase a watch the brand plays a big part, so having that brand advertise the size i’m interested in as womens sized watch is very discouraging to me.
Any idea what glasses Christian is wearing?
It's almost like you're struggling to say you like the brand (just my opinion)
I really like the 2012 iteration of the Big Crown Pointer Date. I wish that was still available but with sapphire. I really want to like the current version but design details of the 2012 have ruined it for me.
At 1:58 Is that a Aquanaut on your wrist? You own that?
I don't understand the comment about their website, I think it's miles ahead of most. 🤷♂️
What's the size of the original Big Crown? Is the 36mm closer to the original or 40mm?
I believe the original was 36mm
@ 5:11 Why the hell is the date pointer between 20 and 21 but its not near 12:00?!?! I think someone mishandled this piece.
one is called the diver 65, the other (with large numerals) is called the Diver 65 Heritage.
Any comments on the Atelier series anyone?
Oris one my my favourite brands…..why nobody talks about their Artelier line????
Christaaaaaaan, what is your wrist size?
my ocd wont let me buy the big crown pointer date, as numbers are wrong, date 23 and 24 are not in harmony, i do not understand why numbers 9-23 are up-side-down. It looks like 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,6.... I simply cannot buy such design also from other vendors.
I absolutely love Oris but that little y2k segment oof big yikes!
I really like Oris.
Id also really like to buy an Oris, if they weren't so massive.
Joe Joe is 36mm massive??
😂
Love the mint but can't find it in a 40mm to save my life.
6:30, 7:25 I just got the one on the bracelet on a sale at a really good price. And I can't to wear it.
What's your thought on this Bloomberg article?
www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-12-19/swiss-watch-production-ebbs-as-shipments-approach-35-year-low
You guys can sell me anything!
No mention of the movements used. That’s unfortunate.
What do you think about christopher ward watches?
Aquis all day everyday
How is Oris website atrocious?
Duh...cuz the initial release diver Sixty-Five is no longer in production. So the name make sense.
the only watch house that can get away with a large crown on a small watch is.......Patek.
I am torn on Oris, on one hand they do have great cases and finishing for the money, on the other the movements are absolutely pedestrian, a red rotor on an otherwise unmodified, unregulated movement. But I guess this is why the price is where it is, and so the flip flopping of buying one continues....
I mean I yeah it would be nice if they had in house movements, but they don't need to. And if they did, they'd would be as much if not more expensive than Omega. And that's just not a price bracket they can compete in right now.
There's nothing wrong with the Sellita movement, I wish they'd decorate a bit more but it's fine. My Aquis is getting about +1 per day out of the factory, which pretty great.
I have no issues it’s not in house, I just wish they’d use top grade movements, Stowa gives you the option and it’s not even a 3 figure difference for the upgrade... oh well
I share those feelings regarding the movement, though I thought it was regulated and the pointer date complication qualifies as modification, I believe.
The date hand was off the mark on several of dial shots of the Pointer.
if u lay all the watches down so no one know which u are referring to.or get an over head shot video,so we can see those watches. Next time .
How does your contract work with London Jewellers ? On number of views ?
Why would he disclose that information?
William Coolidge Christian has every right not do. But I am looking at it from a T&H subscriber viewpoint. The channel content has evolved over the last two years from geeky stuff about vintage watches to often being a billboard for London Jewellers. On Watchbox, Tim Mosso is very transparent about the fact that his monthly salary is paid by Govberg.
Kids
How were they allowed to rip off the oyster bracelet? First time I've seen such s good copy of the oyster...
Love the Big Crown and know it's meant for pilots, but when I'm not pretending to fly planes, I would love to hop in the pool wearing one and not have it be destroyed. Oris, get your sheet together ffs.
Is it just me that thinks this basically looks like an alpinist with a more muted dial?
Nope, just you.
No, the Alpinist looks like this. Oris was introduced in 1930s, Alpinist in 1960s
Happy Burger Touché
You learn something new everyday
Why is any reference to anything feminine always associated with a negative connotation?
you need to get your eyeglasses adjusted.
I love the oris looks but cmon at those prices we should be getting ETA not sellita. I can’t bring myself to spend that much on a sellita movement no matter how much I love the big crown
Why? You won't get an ETA movement in anything other than a Swatch brand in the future.I'm more than happy with a high grade Sellita.
