I know what you're thinking! He's bloody well flipped his 3rd Oris 65 and bought his 4th! Well, not yet. I like the 'BICO', more than I thought I waws going to after my initial impressions, but I'm not for flipping my bronze bezel edition quite yet..... Cheers, Jody

Another great review of a spectacular watch brand. You have convinced me that Oris as a brand offers the "Big 3" qualifications for me in a $1,000+ watch. Unique Styling, history of reliability and innovation, and an in house movement. I'm still in love with your original Black and Blue Oris 65.
I have, however gotten over my own lust for bronze watches in general and if I did purchase one in the future it would most likely be a pocket watch.
BTW, did you mention the other day, that you have done over 300 reviews already? If so Congratulations! Your reviews are the best on the net and continue to improve as you continue on.

Another great review. As a guy that's never tried an Oris, your experienced thoughts on the subject match my inexperienced thoughts. Price seems a bit much for specs and overall package... BUT it's just so darn perfect and I don't think I've found anything else that gets so much right that I love. I'd want to think I could find something I like as much in the vast microbrand market or with one of the excellent midsize German makers (already love the Archimede that I own), but these Oris 65's are something special. I like this particular one a ton. Only hesitation, also as you mentioned, would be the bronze on skin contact. However, I absolutely love the overall look. Also, as you said, my favorite date location is at 6 o'clock, so that's a big plus here.
Just as you said, if I graduate beyond the $500 range and want a special higher-priced watch, these will absolutely be on my list. I may need to find one in town and try it on to see if I should put it on my long-term grail list.
Sorry for the excessive praise here. I like critical comments that I hadn't thought of before, but it's fun sometimes, too, to have a video that's a giant agreement-fest.

I dissembled my gold tone Vostok Komandirskie and dropped the case and bezel into a hydrochloric acid bath for a few hours. The gold finish came off leaving just the brass. I placed the case & bezel in a sealed container with one smashed boiled egg. The patina effect started almost immediately. After a few hours I resembled the watch and it looks great. It has scratched my bronze watch itch only for only $50 and one boiled egg.

Nice review Jody - I agree, that two tone in green would be a killer. Personally this watch solves one of my major issues with the 65 - the black bezel insert - which always looks a bit tacked on, like someone over ordered on the black so they've just stuck it on every watch.

I realize it has nothing to do with the video but I just found a sarz 005. I love the look of the watch and it ticks quite a few boxes. After shipping it would be 250 u.s. dollars. Do you think this is just too much for a Seiko 5 sport? Any help would be appreciated. I'm very new two watches. I don't want to get ripped off. It's currently in my cart just waiting to click purchase haha. Thank you.

I have the BICO Bronze and it is AMAZING! Nudging on the price is right: I got it new for 1900 US just for asking!
Also, prior to buying that, I bought the full black dial version of the Deauville (the Arabic 12, 3, 6, 9) and LOVE that one too. I truly believe I’ll keep these two permanently. This is after me downsizing my collection by a whopping 33 watches!! Now, I’m down to (and want to remain at) 12 solid timepieces. And, in the future, if I ever want to add another watch, then I will need to sell one from the collection to make room.

Resist Resist Jody. Not a massive lover of the 65 but a massive fan of Oris. Yours has that ‘look closely I have a bronze bezel’ appeal if you have to have some bronze. The new one just looks knackered to me but I guess that’s the appeal for some. Bi colour will always be a late 80’s early 90’s thing for me as I had a Raymond Weil like that then. There is no doubt it’s a great watch but getting a little pricey for what it is too.

Man, I love those Divers 65's. I am torn as well between the bronze bezel and the bico. I love the blue dial of the bico, but I'm not sure how much I love the two tone bracelet. I am afraid 10 years from now both bronze and two tone watches might be out of style. I also think there is a whole lot of competition around the $1500-$2000 usd mark. For that much, I feel like I would want something more than an SW-200 3 hander. I would think that kind of money might get you a chronograph or some other complication, or at least an in house movement with a really nice power reserve.
