Great Into!! Grand Prix weekend, moving house, getting married, the class medal at Uni and your still putting out awesome reviews. Genius. Love that dial.
I Have same watch, Bought this Christmas, paid $1800. Aud, new from Selected Jewellery, in Caringbah, paid it off on Lay-by, LOVE the watch had no problems with She, was given two great collector Oris books by the AD, All was fine...untill I bought a Beautiful Doxa sub T 1000 for my birthday which was not for another four months !
Mate!!! That's Academy Award stuff that intro. And quoting in USD just bloody brilliant!! I can't wait to start quoting for a few high end pieces now 😀😀😀. The dial is beautiful and overall something I'd definitely buy. Despite the less than spectacular specs. ya sometimes just gotta say "why the hell not"
I know shamefully nothing about Oris, but this is a wee stunner. The dial is so well laid out and beautiful at the same time. Time for some Oris research. Great vid.
“without the nerves... getting the first scratch” this explains my love of pre-owned watches (with big discount :D) the feel of freedom adds so much fun on wearing a “new” watch out. many my friends end up leaving their new ones inside drawers
I got the Deauville blue version pretty much when it came out second hand for around the same price. Love it! This was before the bracelet came out so it came with the fabric strap, which is great, but I wear it on a tropic mainly, and I think that looks much given the lighter dial. I can't recommend it too much, its gorgeous and isn't something you see everyday (everyone in my office seems to just wear the one Seamaster they have).
Oh my God!! Now you're talking! Well done Jody. That is a gorgeous piece!! I love everything about this watch!! Very funny sketch BTW. Great review. More please.
I hadn't realized import watches, the Oris brand in particular was so much more expensive in Australia. I purchased my first Oris on vaction there many years ago. One it was cheaper than in the US. Second the model range was much larger.
ive bought my first Oris Aquis preowned which came with the bracelet and rubber strap for a 1k.Oris thr best watch to buy preowned for price and quality good buy you bought.
Congratulations on buying the Oris. I had just assumed it had an acrylic lens with that much dome (impressive). It would be cool to see a video comparing the 65 to the Ocean Rover and Phoibos. Thanks for another great video :)
HOLY COW the first 1min 10sec is hilarious! I cried in laughter for 15 min and had an asthma attack as a result. Then emailed the link to my wife at work and told her to watch it and add Aussie acents. Absolutely brilliant mate... Click! you got a new subscriber. Nice review too.
Really enjoy your videos. I have the all black Oris 65. Love it to bits. Everyone should have one. The intro with the wife is very familiar - the boot of car hides some of the retail boxes from my watch purchases while the rest are at work. I grossly under quote the amount I shell out for my watches when interrogated by my wife.
Congratulations on the new watch. I've spent many of nights on the couch and I'm sure I will again. As will you I'm sure. The trick is to be sure you're buying quality. In a couch that is!
So sad to see a lot of people who can't teach their wives where their place is at, woman, I have bought something beautiful made from pure quality and it is valuable as shit, It may be a bit more cash but damn we do not have any financial problems plus you sure as shit can also buy something nice and expensive. I mean not that I have problems, it's just that you have to approach her psychologically with hard steps. No more couch!
Awesome video right there! I've recently the same watch for about $650 USD and i am just in love with it. I wasn't to much of a fan of the strap width so i ended up getting a 20mm Hirsch for it and it has been awesome to my eyes since then. The great features i think are the domed sapphire and the vintage inspired dial. Since it goes well in the collection along with my blue Aquis Date, i think I'm done with Oris for now. Off to the Sinn or Omega pieces! ;)
Can certainly relate to the opening segment... LOL! A small swatch of scouring pad, (Scotch-Brite), used gently on the clasp can bring the brushed finish right back to new. Use it on all my watches, even the bracelets. Can really make a huge difference in the overall appearance and feel of the watch. Cheers from the USA!
Just purchased an Oris Chronoris Movember last night. First 1k+ dollar watch. My wife approved but said cool off on watch buying after this purchase. 😁
Haha my wife too. The only difference to you: i always get Rid of the zero and quote the price to one or two digit, e.g. 150 Euro I say 15 Euro. But still my wife says exactly like yours: “just look like the same. You cook for yourself and sleep on the counch and you have to sell of of your watches to keep this one... so i kept secret some watches she did not know it. I can sadly not wear them only appreciate them when she is not present. ;--))
Hi JOMW , Good to hear your opinion we get ripped of with watches. I bought my first watch with interest free at a shopping centre . Are there cheaper options to do interest free in oz as i dont like dropping 2k cash in one hit , i want to get the new Oris Aquis. Cheers
Beautiful watch! I love the retro look and domed crystal. Shame about the water resistance. They say if you swim in the sea even on the surface you probably need more than 100m due to the water pressure of the waves (esp if they are powerful) which is a shame if you visit the beach. Funny intro btw!! Another great vid.
Oh the temptation! At least you'd been embrance by that Oris 65 (in your wrist) wile you were sleeping in the couch, hehe XD. Nice Watch, love the brand just for this 65 and the Aquis, but yeah, it is pricey... Gracias por el genial video!
I'm of two minds of the watch. I have one myself, all black with the black fabric strap. Useful enough watch and the dial is super cool but there's just something about it. Part of it is the crown, it annoys me a lot. I'm thinking about selling it sometime soon to help finance a Doxa, but I'm not 100% sure about that either.
Find a lovely timepiece for the wife, get her into watches. I've done that - my wife now loves her Sinn 256 TA, her Jenny Caribbean, the gold plated Poljot Buran and the vintage Fortis chrono. That has made her a watch afficianado.
Hullo! Jody.. I've had this same conversation with my wife over fountain pens! And now.. going down the auto watch rabbit hole.. and happily.. Hey, I like our couch! Frank from Boulder, Colorado, USA
I need a new sofa and laptop, which would come to the same price of this watch. Yet I resent paying that much for the sofa and laptop but would happily spend that on a watch! Looks like I'm in the doghouse....... Again! Great video as always.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant I usually get the other half something in fact I got her opal earrings last week she will know I'm looking at a watch. I've gone and done it just bought a parnis black bay burgundy bezel 42mm with the high beat 9015 miota movement looking forward to getting it hope the postage is fast wife will probly be in when it comes I'll probly have to wait till it happens before I can say ent more take care Jody you do know I will probly show my wife your intro .
Fantastic intro Jody 😁😁😁 Like the watch love the review. I just struggle these days with a watch with these specifications costing 1k and above. There are so many good value watches around with the spec list just ticked off all the way down . Aarrrrr feeling confused
It's all about style preference so you can justify your purchase and hope you're truly and honestly happy with it. Personally, that would be a rip off for me. Too much for the components in that watch. Acrylic, 100m WR, and an entry level Sellita SW200, so-so bezel action, for $1200 is ridiculous. You could've gotten yourself a Marathon GSAR with better components, sapphire, 300m WR, ETA 2428 IIRC, etc for the same price shipped and brand spanking new. But like you said, it's about the style preference. Nice honest video mate. Thumbs up!
You're correct about the crystal but still, a bit too much IMHO. But if one really likes that style that's all that matters. That Aquis 39.5 would be nice. Go for it! Cheers!
Hello, Nice video, lots of information! I much prefer Christopher Ward's C65, better movement, better bezel action, better back plate, better overall builded quality and in a much cheaper in price. Though Oris has more heritage and longer history. But in this price point, does those actually matters?
The dialogue was great. It definitely sounds familiar. Also, there is a website called Touch Of Modern there is great deals on watches sometimes on the site . Enjoy the new thing.
Love this watch, probably will be sleeping on the couch myself. Been looking at these since they came out - movement and boring case back are the only negatives to me. $800 not terrible for this one
Great looking watch which has been on my radar for a while. Quality doesn't really justify the price, but this is a piece I would buy based on how cool it looks, not how well its made.
that's the trouble with self imposed rules and principles, they go right out the window when you really like something. anyway, if you get something more "sensible" you just end up resenting it an wondering what if?
It is a beautiful watch. Not having 200 M water resistance is an issue for me. Why make it look like a diver if it doesn’t actually have the specifications necessary to be an ISO rated diver?
It's a beautiful watch but you are sure right about the value proposition of this watch. I also bought the same watch on rubber strap due to the look, but definitely not the best you can get for your money.
Thanks for an very informative and entertaining vid. Wear that beautiful Oris in good health. Be mindful of your back whilst sleeping on the couch, won't take many watch purchases to tear it all to hell. Cheers...
This is one of the nicest watches I've see in a LONG time. I just love the dark numbers inside the lume plots. I sure hope that you didn't flip this one!
I was expecting this version "Looks like I got away with it." **Pillow throw** "You're sleeping on the couch tonight." ........"worth it" Hilarious skit man. I enjoy all your videos.
Nice watch; it is the kind of watch that divorced blokes wear! I have always liked the small Swiss independent watch companies i.e. Atlantic, West End, Zeno, etc.. The drawback is nobody has ever heard of them which makes the resale a little weak. ETA 2824 or Sellita SW200?
I am new to your channel, fantastic review. I was just looking at the brand new Christopher Ward C65 Trident Diver. I am leaning more towards the more prestigious Oris but looking forward to seeing reviews on the Christopher Ward.
Great watch. One thing though, In don't buy watches, cars or pens with the intention of hedging my decision. Only for the pleasure of having the objects and using them.
This one looks a bit better your wrist than just alone in the hand. This one qualifies on emotional attachment as opposed to specifications. This one clearly has a place in your heart - bet we won't be seeing this one for sale any time soon.
You did a great review of my missing love. Missing because I don't have one yet!😫 My holy grail... I skipped on the Orient ray2 and bought a Citizen promaster diver's 200m, then purchased the mighty skx007 (and another) - straight on to this Oris65 classic😍 -in the dark blue/black it's perfect in looks. Am I doing alright for a new collector😂 (Do hate on rolex though)
Great review, I echo your sentiments. I bought a new one just like yours and I absolutely love it. Mine runs about +2 seconds which is awesome!! The 65 and my Glycine Combat Sub get the most wrist time. Know anyone who wants to buy a used Marathon GSAR, lol.
I’ve bought 3 Oris watches. One Clean the Ocean and two 65’s including this Stunner Black. Best wearing watch in my 30 watch collection. I get more comments on these Oris 65 than any other watches. Ha Ha, maybe because I wear them so much. Apparently limited run as this Black watch run is Sold Out.
I almost bought this because of the looks and the fantastic blue colour. But a discounted price of 1400 Euro was just (luckily)not low enough to let me sleep on the couch.
It's ok I dropped $1300 on a Hamilton Khaki X-Wind Automatic Chronograph Pilot with the modified Valjoux7750 H-21 movement with 60hrs power reserve. The Rose Cadisen is fantastic by the way under $50. So far you have one hell of a channel. Awesome! INE Oil Futures tommorrow!
I'd have to sleep at my buddies house, then only allowed back after I had sold it. According to my SO, my very different dive watches all "look the same".😲. Love the Oris BTW.
Great vid. I've been looking at getting one of these. I think I'm convinced. My bank manager thanks you. That intro could have been filmed word for word in my house.
What are your thoughts on the new Chris Ward version of a 60s Diver? It was a close toss up between a new one of those or a second hand one if these... Went for the Oris... I think it's the right choice, I own two Wards, they are great brands but the Oris 65 is a classic from 1965. I think it will patina very well, some watches do... Some look like crap with a few scratches. This one will take it well. The domed crystal is a brilliant move.
@@JustOneMoreWatch lol, I'll certainly blame you... Seriously though I'll flip a bronze Lume Tec and a Ward C8 vintage to pay for it.. She's wearing that Starking out of choice!! I stuck a nice Geckota strap on it, lovely wee watch Old County.. Born Edinburgh, raised in Argyll, on Loch Fyne, uni at Newcastle in 1990... Now live in Northumberland wilderness just over the border into England. Mum still lives in Edinburgh, Stockbridge. I've got other family in Newtonmore, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Melrose and Surrey 😜
@@JustOneMoreWatch weather here just now is bloody awful. Snow at our house, we're 900 ft up in Cheviots. Forecast is a really really nasty one before New year 😳 better get in enough coal, heating oil booze and watches to keep me amused for a month
I have that watch; absolutely love it and wearing it right now! I also have its bigger brother, the 42mm Oris diver 65 (blue dial); also lovely, but IMO the 40mm, reviewed here, sits better on my 7" wrist
Great Into!! Grand Prix weekend, moving house, getting married, the class medal at Uni and your still putting out awesome reviews. Genius. Love that dial.
Love the watch, worth the hassle, just remember, sleeping on the couch is just like camping! 😉

Love the watch! The intro interaction with your wife had me laughing out loud. It has gone down precisely the same way at my house.
That intro was great! I had to show my wife. She loved it!
Stunning, well wear. I have the black dial version and think its pretty much the perfect retro diver! Plus an original design.
Oh my God!! Now you're talking! Well done Jody. That is a gorgeous piece!! I love everything about this watch!! Very funny sketch BTW. Great review. More please.
It looks like something that agent 007 would wear on his suit before going on a diving mission underwater, this watch looks incredibly elegant.
Hate to burst your bubble but I bought a vintage (1960-ish) Oris just last week and I only dropped
Mate! No one is bursting my Oris shaped love bubble at the moment. Enjoy yours. Cheers!
Thank God I'm single.
Thank for always mention the dimension from lug to lug. I have very slim wrists so thats the most important information about a watch
Great review Jody and many hilarious components here. The whole fiancee thing I found to be quite comical, and your future bride sounds quite lovely.
I hadn't realized import watches, the Oris brand in particular was so much more expensive in Australia. I purchased my first Oris on vaction there many years ago. One it was cheaper than in the US. Second the model range was much larger.
OMG! This is so me !! My wife says the same thing except not so polite 😂 also I cannot buy a watch without debating it's pros and cons for months lol
I did that, even with the skx007. Bought one.. then immediately after receiving bought another✔️😍😂 -🍻💙🇱🇷
I have the blue and grey dial one, almost sold it days ago, then kept wearing it and found out how really beautiful it is. Would never give it away ❤

I don’t normally comment but this opening sequence made my day, pretty sure it’s true in so many households including my own. Keep up the good work
Thanks mate!
On watchcheck you can select the position of the watch and 3 temperature readings. Would help in knowing when you are getting bad fluctuations.
Love the intro. Yes, a very familiar story. Glad I’m not the only one that quotes USD when asked.

Oh yes. I’ve lived through this exact same conversation. Fact, I’m waiting on an Oris big crown pointer to be delivered this Thursday.

Something about the look of Oris that is just so appealing to the eyes. There's not a single ugly watch from this brand.
I’ve owned the oris aquis for about two years, love oris. Had a big crown too, been eyeing the 65 diver for a bit now. Nice watch

I don't mind the Oris 65. 100m water resistance is fine for that sort of heritage diver. You'd use a different watch for "serious" diving.
I liked the intro. You should review a Jumphour digitalwatch or something like that. Would be interesting.

Great vid. I've been looking at getting one of these. I think I'm convinced. My bank manager thanks you. That intro could have been filmed word for word in my house.
Hey Jodi, where did u get that silicone rubber strap for this Oris?
Magnificent watch. Definitely punches well above its price. Wear it in good health. Great video as always!
Gorgeous timepiece I would happily add to my collection if I hadn't already a blue dial blasted steel case 1521 Squale.
Love this watch but the dimensions stop me as I prefer chunkier pieces. Enjoy!
"Here we have a giant justification of the pricetag". Brilliant 😁
How were you able to get the tropic strap in with the deal? Loving the watch !!
All your fault,
And hello from the old county 🤘
Tell your partner it was my fault, no worries at all. And which bit of the old country?
@@JustOneMoreWatch lol, I'll certainly blame you...
Seriously though I'll flip a bronze Lume Tec and a Ward C8 vintage to pay for it..
She's wearing that Starking out of choice!! I stuck a nice Geckota strap on it, lovely wee watch
Old County..
You won't regret it, the 65 is a bit special. As is Stockbridge, lovely part of the world to visit your mum in. Cheers!
Brilliant intro. We share the same scenarios.
Shame retro watches aren't improved under the hood so it doesn't affect the look.
Congratulations. very nice watch ! I got a deja vu experience, when I watched the intro.
I have that watch; absolutely love it and wearing it right now! I also have its bigger brother, the 42mm Oris diver 65 (blue dial); also lovely, but IMO the 40mm, reviewed here, sits better on my 7" wrist
