You know, I think you're right, this IS the ultimate Divers 65 (what with the whole caliber 400 and all). I'll be able to tell my grandchildren that I was actually THERE, at 2am, on the east coast of the USA, when the legendary Jody from JOMW unveiled his FINAL purchase of the Oris Divers 65. It's a proud moment for me, Jody, and yes, I am weeping.
The 28th day of January in the 2023 year of our lord at 7:24 AM. For me, for this very Auspicious moment. Just kidding lovely watch. I hope you will continue to share your life of watches with us.
I think in the distant future the 6th of May will become 65 Day when families come together to celebrate the coming of a new Divers 65 to the JOMW collection 😂 In all seriousness your car analogy is perfect for this sort of thing. I’m a huge fan of Oris but haven’t found the Divers 65 for me yet. The Calibre 400 is a little out of my price range but otherwise this model is stunning so I look forward to hearing your long term thoughts.
I'm glad you picked this one up, and look forward to the long term owners report. I am interested in this one, and tried it on wrist at the AD the other day. I was impressed! The 100m WR is still puzzling to me, but I guess there is a trade off for that lightness? What would it take to improve that, Oris? I love that it's got white lume, and the 12 hour bezel is a unique touch I could actually put to use with my work.
Congrats mate!..I still reckon the one with the numerals at 3,6,9and 12 was your best looking one(has the most retro appeal)I get it though, when brands do a new version of a model and stick to monochrome it really freshens the look up..however if they did a stainless steel bezel version next year I could see you flipping for the 5th time!.lol
I still have my blue/black heritage dial that you started with, that dial simply can’t be out charmed by anything out there. I’ve also added a Cotton Candy full bronze 65, and I had to say as someone who loves the 65 just as much as you, the watch is perfection in 38mm. I have it on good authority that the heritage dial will be returning, and if it does so in 38mm with the cal 400, that will truly be the ultimate 65, and dare I say grail material. Congrats on the new pick up though mate!
Always nice to see a watch I’m interested in reviewed by one of the channels I regularly follow. Trying to decide between this and a Tudor P01. My smaller wrist might swing it for the ORIS.
Looks great hope you enjoy it. Ten year warranty should be universal. Today I'm wearing my Avia Swissonic I've had it for 49 years, runs at 28800 and runs like it did when it was bought for about £25 if I remember correctly.
@@JustOneMoreWatch about 7 years ago when I got into servicing watches And I'd got some confidence it got a clean and lube. It was working ok before and really didn't make any difference.I think the Swiss had got the whole thing pretty well sussed by it was made, and with new oil it'll last longer than I will. Enjoy your Oris and maybe your boy will too.
would love to see a detailed review of the Uncle for Black Bay bracelet -- particularly the clasp. I'm considering buy a on-strap BB as the rivets+ lack if micro adjustment is a big no no. but love the BB58
Yes the black dial is conservative but I think most of us watch enthusiasts forget that watches are an accessory and black dials go with everything! ...I am impressed with the 20mm to 16mm bracelet! I wish all watches would have tapered bracelets
Hi Jody I’m definitely going to get this, it will be my third 65 Diver, I have the the bico on leather and the blue/black numbered dial which is stunning, I look at other watch brands but for some reason I keep coming back to the Oris 65. I really hope this one is a keeper for you
Wow. I've never really seen the cal 400. You are right about how simple it looks. I just pre ordered the LE christopher ward Blue Marine c63 with their in house sh21. Similar specs to the cal 400 but now i'm really blown away by what CW can offer in terms of tech and visuals vs Oris at damn near half the cost.
I am the same. Have owned two version of the 65, and one of those twice! I also got rid of the 65s to fund a BB58. I like the look of this version, but have little use for a 12 hour bezel. I'm also hoping they up the lume power, but it seems it's not going to happen. Once they release a version with a regular dive time bezel or count down bezel, I will own a 65 yet again.
Sweet piece! If you ever find yourself low on future video ideas, might I suggest a video detailing your selling experiences and any recommended best practices. 👍
Hi Jody, thanks for the review! Quick question - what is your wrist size? I have a 6.5 inch wrist and when I quickly checked it in the store it seemed to me to be a bit big. But will check it again as it is one of the forerunners as my future mechanical three hand watch. What is your perception? Thanks
Oddly enough after years of watch collecting I just pulled the trigger on my first black on black diver. I ordered the Axios Flagship Defiance and I am eagerly awaiting it. I have 4 other divers and what's nice is every one is a different dial color and case design. I'd be hard pressed to keep anything to closely resembling the other because I'd always have a favorite and would feel bad lol xD
The first 2 you had Jody are the best looking wish Oris still made this dial , it's a grail for me and it's hard to find one in good condition at a fair price :(
Still have the 2018 blue/black 3/6/9/12 in my collection. It's survived longer than anything else by far. It is remarkable just how light these watches are. I wear all of my watches on straps, and even with that, the Oris is about 10g or so lighter than my Zodiacs, and 20g or so lighter than my Seiko MM200Rs. The 12-hour bezel gave me a thought - where's the GMT version? As far as I know, Oris has never done one with the D65. Seems like an obvious model to make, especially with the BB Pro being such a hit. Oris' model would be a caller rather than a traveler style, but they could also make their watch *dramatically* thinner than Tudor's using the Sellita SW330-2.
Nice review, Jody. I spotted this watch at my Oris AD the other day. It really stood out in a display case of approx 30 Oris pieces. Imho, it has a slight 5513 Sub ND vibe (which I like). I ended up purchasing it (Oct 20 2023). I'm really enjoying it. I'm not going to be diving, so I appreciate being able to track 2 time zones with the 12-hr bezel. All good. 🙂🍺
Jody, thanks for the overview of your new watch. I think the watch looks ok but not something I would put on my wish list. By the way, every time I saw a face on shot of your watch it looks like the bracelet end link at 12 o'clock left hand lug has a gap. Is it a reflection? It just bugs me when I see it.
I like the Oris, however, I'm a huge fan of the bronze bezel. I really like the Tudor Black Bay and it is certainly my grail but is completely out of reach. I would have kept the last Oris even with the new movement, bronze is my weakness. After all, the movement is the reason that I like the Omega.
I have a similar relationship with the Citizen Promaster. I've had 4 different versions, sold them all. My favourite was the green titanium, but even that didn't stay in my collection. 😅
I'm not one to sell my old friends. Maybe that makes me a horder. I have way too many watches as a result. Probably not healthy. But I'll leave that to my beautiful wife to sort out when I'm gone.
I have to admit that I haven't heard of the Caliber 400. So I'm Im not sure to what advantage it is to have one, over a Salita 200 or a Ronda 150. Other then a rather extended warranty. Which typically is just a piece of paper that state the reasons why they're not going to cover anything. There by lessening the chances of getting anything repaired at no cost. But it is a beautiful watch and I appreciate you sharing it with me/us. It's always good to hear you cheerful voice and witty commentary.
I mean, an in house, 5 days of power reserve, 10yr service interval/warranty, 4hz movement that's pretty thin is pretty nice on paper. It's got it's quirks but it's pretty cool to have such a new in house movement in a wider range of watches. It gives my Cal 403 Pointer Date way more character than if it just had an SW200 in it or equivalent.
You would think they could supply a better box at that price point , I know it's just a box you place in a cupboard but I still expect a solid box. Love vintage watches so love the vibes on the Oris , I also own a Tudor BB ( thick heavy one ) in black with gold hands etc and just love looking at the dial such a vintage look that I love, I actually chose this over an Omega seamaster pro (I used to own a older model) but found the seamaster to blingy now.
I agree the box looks a bit of a let down at that sort of retail price. They should have at least included some sort of high tech horns blowing, as the satin lined Jewel encrusted wooden box opens. Well maybe something in between.
Idk I find the 12 hour bezel a bit goofy. The in house movement is nice but practically I’d rather have the more common Sellita. My Black/Bronze made the cut down to a 3 watch collection and will be staying long term. Amazing watch

Beautiful time piece, but the Tudor BB 58 wins the gold star. But again, you did say 10yr warranty and 5 day hour power reserve...hmmm. Nope, I still have to say Tudor.
I have the Aquis with a Calibre 400 movement. You'll have to get to grips with the quirks of the watch to avoid frustration. For one, the rotor only winds in one direction. That means you'll never get it up to 5 days power reserve just from wearing. Apparently it takes around 200 winds of the crown to fully power. To be fair, this still only takes thirty seconds to a minute when you know you're putting it away for the weekend or so. The other one is the minute hand jump when manipulating the crown. Watch some RUclips vids to get the reason and easy mitigation. Aside from the silly personality traits it is an incredibly reliable and stable movement. Should have started with, welcome to just one more oris 65
How about the Fratello limited Oris 65?
The 100m WR is a killer for me on this watch. I'd save a little more and go with the Breitling SO that has a 1000m WR and fantastic AR.
1000m sheeesh. But why so deep when you won't even go diving at your local swimming pool?
Awaiting for your long term review 😅
