I never realized how important the Linkedin profile was until I became a student at course careers. Always learning from your content.
I totally agree. The unexperienced TikTok BDRs love talking about mass-applying. It doesn't work.
You know the game behind the game
@@TrentDresselim so unfamiliar w tech sales but im tired of that type of tiktok page “ill show u exactly how to …” stfu bc if that was true you would gatekeep it to not over saturate your field

Thank you Trent, I just finished my masters in supply chain management and this video has really given me a more transparent way of forging ahead to get a good job. Looking forward to coming back to share my success story with you.
Any update?
I have found that another backdoor way to a company potentially is one of the employees is a champion for the company that they work for and often talk about what they do on social media, it's a very warm conversation and I have yet to face a rejection into what I need to know so that I could work there or at another company that they used to work at. Try it guys, it works.
That is a creative strategy, good share
Trent great stuff. I’m glad you were an instructor in Course Careers. I strongly believe just following you and watching your videos and trying your courses will give me the upper hand as I go down this SDR path. Question, from your experience. Which companies would you say are some of the best companies to work for when trying to build a career as an SDR?
the top 10 list on clouded judgement
Fantastic video Trent thank you
Glad you enjoyed
My man Trent💪🏽 💪

Thanks Trent.
I appreciate your support
I highly appreciate this information. As you were speaking, I hit my Linkedin profile to immediately change what was holding me back. As someone who comes from a background of Sales in College and Technology(developer) after college, I really want to break into this industry right now. With the demand in this industry and different levels of growth, I have never felt my calling in life better than going into a role in tech sales
The small changes will give you a slight edge - keep striving for growth
Hi iam a barber looking to get into this industry. Also i am new to all of this but im will to learn .
Great vid
thank you
I plan on getting on this soon. I have about a year left on my army contract, I have a wife and kid on the way. Im hoping I can secure a job a few months before my contract ends, so I can transition to civilian life smoothly.
I know many veterans who make the transition seamlessly to tech sales, you got this
I’m the same! A year and a half left in the British army, and looking at getting into this by the time I have left. Good luck bro
Question: how well do you think 6+ years of car sales will transfer to Tech Sales? Would you recommend starting as an SDR/BDR, or jumping straight to AE given the transferable skills?
Thanks in advance! Love your content!
Start as SDR, your baseline skills will translate, message me on LI for further guidance if interested
What if you’re a top performer in car sales? I know you don’t have a background in car sales, but for an example what if you’re the type of sales person that management seeks to close the harder deals? Looking to get into tech sales, and I’m aiming for an AE role but I’m open to SDR or BDR if there’s an opportunity for rapid growth.
love it
@Trent Dressel, how to get a SAAS Sales Job if you're not based in the USA with USA Based companies even if you've experience working with US Based Software companies?
If there is a website field that you can fill in on an application online I will record a Loom video saying 1. Who I am 2. What I’m applying for/why this company 3. Addressing that I don’t have tech sales experience and what I can bring to the table so that it shouldn’t matter. I put this on all my applications if it’s an option. 2/2 on getting interviews if the video is watched.
that is a really creative idea that sounds like it would work really well!
thanks for the vid! I am Platform Architect with over 10years of experience Software Engineer/Application Engineer. Im looking to shift into Tech Sales but dont know where to start. People I know in the space say employers are looking for experience, but how does one obtain experience. Any tips/advice would be great. Thanks!
You have the background to make it happen- you may need to take a step back level wise, like start as SDR but you can do it

Is tech sales a career where you can have a flexible schedule or work remote or both? Thanks
decent flexibility
Hello Dressel for the linkedin profile shall I be honest when I create it and say I am a student or a college fresher.
Make it happen
I am born in New York city but I have a child in Michigan staying for kindergarten school and I'm just staying in New York to get on my feet, is it still flexible to travel or work in another location for example in Michigan for a remote job?
if the company allows remote then yes

Trent, I have sold for the past 3.5 years. Just quit my job a few months ago with the intention of getting into tech sales. From what you have seen, would it behove me to look for a BDR job first? Also welcome to CO!
If you are not currently employed, most typically lose some leverage with finding the next job, I would advise you start applying and learn feedback in the process what hesitations they have, if any
@@TrentDressel thanks so much!
Hey Trent, I'm currently taking CourseCareers and I'm having trouble getting my videos to load. Do you know anyone that this has happened to? Any advice would be greatly appreciated
It should be fixed now
I just took my tech sales final exam Tuesday night. You need at least a 70% to pass…it’s out of 84 points so I need at least 58 points…I scored 36 pts…my short answer responses and my voice responses haven’t been graded yet…I need 22 more points to pass…I did the math and I KNOW FOR A FACT that I will have earned more than 22 points! It’s 44 more possible points that I can earn…I only need 22 more. I’m so anxious and excited. I KNOW I earned 22 more points because in what remains, I scored myself conservatively. For 2 point questions that I know I got right, I gave myself 1 point. On the 10 point cold email I gave myself 5 points even though I actually scored at least a 7. I went back to compare mine to his example and mine was just as good! In the four point questions I scored myself a 2 even though I know I got at least a 3 or perfect! So yeah!! First try and I know I passed it! It takes 72 hours for them to grade it! I’ll know tomorrow which is Friday the 11th my son’s birthday! Feeling good!!
👏👏👏 pumped for you!
@@TrentDressel I have one question, Trent. After that, my next 150 dollar payment was due. Are they still going to grade my test since I haven’t made the next payment yet? Can’t pay until pay day this Friday? Just wondering if that makes a difference in them grading my test

At what age can you start tech sales? I am 17 at the moment and I am planning to do it at the age of 18 or early or maybe later.
I started at 22 once I graduated from college
Hi how are you? I just started the tech sales course in Coursecareer, would it be possible to work abroad? I live in Europe, would it be possible to work in tech sales for another country?
Thanks in advance
Yes it's possilbe
@@TrentDressel a follow up question, I live in Asia, do you think it's possible to work remotely for a company based in the US or Europe?
Do you have to go college to become sale tech or can you start right after high school?
Landing SDR job right out of high school is better bc you are way ahead of everyone who goes to college - message me on LinkedIn if you want any more advice
Do you think its sustainable to balance full time college with a tech sales job?
Not really, but if you are young with no responsibilities, might as well give it a shot
not sure if I'll get hired by all this, but I at least feel better about my chances. I've been applying for the last 8 months, 100's of jobs, with ZERO luck.
keep going

Guys is Course Careers only for Americans. I’m South Africa so hence I’m asking
We only have American partner employers for now but we teach how anyone, anywhere can break into tech sales
What questions do you have breaking into tech sales in 2023? Let me know so I can answer then! ⬇
Thoughts on breaking into it at an older age (30+)
@@Sebastian-oj2gu I believe age (life experience) gives you more of an edge for the right opportunity, if the company is looking to hirer younger SDRs to develop, may not be right for you. I would look for someething that gives you quicker path into closing role
How come you dont post the course careers link in the description? Are you still affiliated and/or recommend taking that course?

Hey Trent! Just watched your video, great work man. I’ve been interested in tech sales for a while and wanted to ask if it’s something that’s possible to do part time while in school. Currently in my last year of grad school for physical therapy (26 years old currently).
People hire "CULTURE FIT" people that look like them because that's what makes them comfortable which will considerably drop the consideration for someone that has different cultural background or ethnic difference in pigmentation this thought process is part of the problem
Noooo, this is bullshit. You had me until you decided to go racial with it
What degree did you go to college for ?
general business
@@TrentDressel hi Trent I’m watching your videos right now because I’m thinking about joining tech sales since I live in Austin tx and I know tech is big here now, is it possible to get into tech sales with no degree ?
