Great video as usual Trent. My goal in 2022 is to reach AE, though I'm honestly a little intimidated because I don't have closing experience with 6-7 figure contracts. At your company, did they have a solid training program to get you properly ramped up for facilitating deals?

    • @TrentDressel

Once you begin AE; I doubt your deal size will be that big so it’s process just like SDR, you’ll get there. Self learning is key

Hey Trent, very informative video, is it possible to go from enterprise AE to VP to CRO or do you usually have to take a previous leadership role first to get to VP?

@zz. Having held the position of VP in the past for the World's largest ITC Vendors I can tell you that it will iake 10-15 years of grinding work to rise from an Account Executive role to a VP position. That is because a Vice President is a part of the Corporate Management Team .... NOT the Sales Team. That is why in the Top 10 ITC Companies the top performing Sales Executives continue with the Business Education by studying for a MBA.
Than is not a "Flash Title" it is the minimum level of Education required by any Fortune 500 Company for any VP position, but it is more relevant to Enterprise Sales.
Been there, done that, got the tee shirt and the base ball cap. Phil,

You said something as far as “20 right out of college” - my question is... do you need college such as associates or bachelor for a job? I have sales experience (3 years in the insurance industry) but no college. I want to get my foot into the tech sales industry like SaaS, is this possible (as in this career path you mentioned) without college?

    • @TrentDressel

Is it possible for someone who never went to college to get into this and make it into the higher echelons of a company, leadership-wise or sales-wise?
    Thanks for your time!

Bro I'm 27 and just got my first SDR position last month. Don't have any limiting beliefs, it's entirely doable because at the end of the day, sales is sales. It definitely helps to have sales experience (I had years of retail experience and 6 months of being a loan officer), but you just need to know how to sell yourself to get the job and have the grinding mindset. Learn as much as possible read books, analyze others like Trent that are where you want to be, and once you have the position make sure you LEARN, EXECUTE, REVIEW, REPEAT!
