Applying directly to new jobs on the company website or LinkedIn does not work anymore You either get auto-rejected or aren’t differentiated from the +78 other resumes. Increase your odds of getting an interview by using creative outreach: 1. Identify your list of companies you would be most excited to work at (ideally they are actually hiring for a role you are capable of doing). 2. Avoid auto applying to random companies at all cost! 3. Search LinkedIn for the sales managers and recruiters who can influence the interview process. 4. The sales managers want great reps for their teams and the recruiters get paid to hire people (you are helping them by reaching out). 5. Send cold emails, cold call, & LinkedIn DM each person asking if they are still hiring and presenting why you are a good fit (BE BOLD). Creative outreach proves you have the sales skills required to do the actual sales job Do the job to get the job
I just landed my first SDR job because of you! Do what’s going to make you feel fulfilled. Your identity isn’t in tech sales, but you’re really good at it! - A fellow Ohioan
I would love to see you back in software sales - your content helped me understand what an sdr was and break in to tech sales in 2021. Plus would love to see your SaaS prospecting workflow in 2024! That being said do what is best for you!
Do whats right for you man. I bet your family and parents are happy you're able to add so much value to the family business and they're proud of you. If I was fortunate enough to have a family business id work there and have pride to help out my family and I bet you do. But I understand you still have that itch for SaaS sales. You got it bro
Hey Trent, I stumbled onto your channel a little while ago and then was suggested this video about getting back into software sales. I thought I may be able to offer a little value here. Like you I started in tech in ICT and software. Long story short I earned a huge sum of money doing it, I got over confident, I left my role, took on the company I worked for, got crushed and let it get to me. I sat on the fence starting many other businesses over a period of 14 years, it sucked because my heart was not in it. Finally I got back into tech and afterwards thought what the "F" were you thinking? Tech is your thing, it makes you happy and it's what makes you money. Moral of the story, the longer you wait to get back, the more a career in tech gets out of your reach and the less you will earn over your career. You only have 439 days away, I would say get back in fast! Good luck : )
Trent please don’t let sales be your identity! Those who appreciate this channel will support you with whatever decision you decide to go with. Do what feels best for you 💕💕💕
Def make a comeback! And please do a vid on how to determine if it makes sense to reach the pinnacle of sales leadership (Manager/Director/VP) or as an individual contributor (Enterprise AE)
Thanks, Trent, for always providing authentic content. As an enterprise BDR in martech, I've watched almost all your videos and still feel like I have so much more to learn from you. If you have unfinished business in software sales, go for it! Just remember it can be a never-ending grind and take a lot of mental and physical effort to be a difference-maker, but it's also incredibly rewarding.
From what it sounds like, it's that you have unfinished business. You have a lot of what if questions regarding your past with the company you got laid off from. You are not sales and sales is not you, find out who you are. But if anything, go back into tech sales and chase down the goals you didn't get to complete. You are a lot more experienced now, you have proof of concept that you do have what it takes. Financially wise, you can never go wrong with buying property especially if it's for yourself. 28 is still very young and money is not everything, you can have 250k in the bank rn and lose it tomorrow. So let money not be the sole driving force and instead do what genuinely makes you feel whole and proud of yourself.
I took I time out of software sales to finish my book and be promoted to a BJJ blue belt. Well, I have achieved both those things and something was still "off". I made enough savings to have a full year of only writing and training but somehow I missed sales. I was hesitant to come back until you made this video and I realized I wasn't alone. I'll be back. See you in the trenches, Trent.
I did not know you lived in Ohio, I was born and raised in Cleveland and still reside here. I am currently an sdr for a tech company. I love the content and it would be great to connect!
Yes you should. Your channel has felt more and more less relevant to me the longer you have been out of software sales. I have been a follower since 2021 and recently was considering unsubscribing as I got to the point where I don’t watch much of your new videos whereas a year ago I would get so excited when my RUclips feed told me you uploaded a new video. Please get back into software sales!
@@ElCalifornio619 Hey, El californio. I'm not in software sales but e-commerce. Software sales is lucrative because we live in a technological world and it looks like it's ever expanding and growing in the future.
@@ElCalifornio619it’s more lucrative and subscription based so you can’t technically run out of pipeline because things can always be updated, new things come out etc. but there is other roles that are very lucrative. Payroll, SaaS, Luxury Car sales, medical device sales, etc. find what’s your niche and go for it. In sales YOU are the job, because you can work anywhere really. Whereas normal jobs for example being a mechanic is what do somewhere specific. Sales you can take with you
Take my advice. Don’t do this YT channel to appease the masses. Been there done that. Go back to tech sales if you feel truly led and if you are open to possibly relocating to Nashville. My company (healthcare tech) is growing. Best wishes Trent
damn its been that long lol since u got tinned. I think you should go back....just to get some of those real topline numbers of achievement so you can continue to grow your sales training business. I feel like in some of your content your missing just really that confidence of hitting those really really crazy numbers.
Do what brings you life satisfaction and meaning. You shouldn’t really pick a job based solely on what your commenters on RUclips think. Haha I think you have a lot of options at your finger to make good money.
Bro you made enough money to get out of that world and create something of your own. Why would you go back into the pit. Makes no sense. But, wishing you all the best brother.
Hi Trent, Your content is fantastic! I'd love to assist you in enhancing your videos with premium editing and captivating thumbnails that can attract more viewers. Let's discuss how we can work together to grow your channel.

you are right
Man, of course. You will do great once again. Or hop into freight sales. It's a tough market, but you keep anywhere from 50-70% of what you make.
Thanks for your support!
Hope u ain’t suggesting TQL😂

You are right
How do you feel about doing cold calling all day again or commuting to an office ?
I want to be cold calling more and I love going into the office (only looking at offices that are really close to me bc commute isn't great)
Not sure what to recommend. I'd say let your heart lead you.
I'm listening to it
So what was the exact reason? You got fired because of the RUclips channel? Did you ever mention the company? What is their issue?
my inspiration
You keep me going!
Do what you enjoy man, you live once. In my opinion, do what you speak out.

what is better ( for short and long term ) Product manager career or Sales / Tech sales ?
tech sales
What’s the difference of a SDR and software sales ? I’m confused
SDR (sales development representative) is a job position, and software sales is an industry selling software.
@@gus333 thanks so why is the software industry better then the rest of then the rest ?
