    Emylee, as crazy as it may sound, your tutorials are getting me through my injury. Got a meniscus tear about 6 months ago and I got depressed over not being able to lift again at the gym. As it heals I’m realizing that dancing is not only safer than what I was doing before, but not nearly as taxing on my knees. I honestly feel free again. The ones who make you feel like dancing after a long time of being down bad is one of the most special types of spirits. Anyone who has your kind of energy can get equally low so please never stop doing you.

    Oh gawd, I’m 48 and I’m gonna learn to shuffle!, yeah baby, I’ve been telling my friends for ages and they all laugh, let’s show them girl, it’s time!! You are great, thanks for highlighting common mistakes, cos I think that’s gonna be me 😂 but not now that I know! 🤞Excited about your final 2024 RUclips revelation, also love your English ‘little bit faster’ accent. Is carpet a good surface to start on? Love from Cornwall, England ❤🕺

      hell yeah it's never too late to learn something new!! and carpet is probably not the best surface to start on, it will hurt your feet and also will be very difficult. Smoother surfaces are better!

      Take it slow, I started learning at 37 and my back, knees and ankles haven't loved it and injuries mean more time away from learning shuffling.

    • @Jen-fq1jz
      @Jen-fq1jz 11 месяцев назад +10

      @@nickmajora cross-training and strength training for sure help! I run ultras and rock climb (at 49) so I’m fitter now than I was at 35 😅… but you do have to build slowly! Working with a trainer (if you can) is also *super* helpful.

      It definitely works some interesting muscles, and requires decent cardio. But the more you do it, the better you get. I'm 38 and thought to check with this when I started .. I couldn't seem to do it at all without being in socks and on the linoleum floor. My sneakers kept dragging and it was making it really hard and putting a lot on the muscles on my legs, I couldn't figure out how these people were doing this stuff on concrete and their videos! But if it comes clear after a while 😉

    I'm 36, used to be able to dance when I was way younger, but got old, fat and out of shape. I just lost about 45 pounds recently, still got a long way to go, but I felt confident enough to start moving and getting back into dancing. It took a few tries, but I was able to do the running man. I still have trouble starting it up but can get it going. I'm going to stick to the fundamentals right now, but seeing this tutorial and having it click for me really inspired me to write this comment. It's not too late to learn how to shuffle. Thanks for the video! Maybe I'll edit this when I get it all together and finish everything in the video. For now, just sticking to running man.

      I had very little dance experience when i started. I did it when i was young, up until the age of like 12. Ballet, tap, jazz. But nothing serious. I think those classes maybe helped me with rhythm but honestly shuffling is it's own breed of dancing. And imo, you don't need any dance experience!

    Doesn’t seem like you mention the added slide back of the standing foot. As the right knee comes up, the standing left foot does a tiny slide-back before driving the left foot fully back to lunge.
    Seems like shuffle tutorials never mention that and people feel frustrated when their running man does not look the same as the demonstration. Otherwise looks really great and easy to follow.

    Do your shoes and the type of floor matter? I find the sliding to be the hardest part.
