If you ever plan to redo these tests or want to make a follow up video, an idea would be to round up some of the most popular "DIY recipes" on the internet for carpet shampoo and compare with the best performing retail products.
I came here to say the same thing! :)
Pp
Yes please do that! I read several reviews and articles online that say vinegar and water is all you need in these carpet cleaners, including if you rent the big commercial ones from the store.
One article even says that an added benefit of using vinegar is that it doesn't leave behind a sticky or tacky residue like some of the popular shampoo/cleaners do. Additionally they noted the sticky residue can be counterproductive as it will end up helping to collect more dirt, debris, dust, and gunk which means you will have to clean more often! It might be so subtle you can't feel it with your hands but it could still be working at the microscopic level to attract more dirt!!
We need to know if any of this is true!! Does vinegar work as well as store bought cleaning solution, and do the store bought cleaning solutions really leave carpets slightly sticky in the long term tests?
Yes, also include urine in the test please!
Yes!
As someone who is not a vacuum enthusiast, but looking for some quick info, this video was to the point and exactly what I was looking for. Great content. Thanks!
Thanks for doing these! I've bought two vacuums based on your recommendations and I you're my go-to when it comes to vacuum recommendations!
Thanks!
Same here!!!
Right
I agree, love his videos and comparisons. Hard to beat just real facts and I trust his opinion with how much he uses them.
You look like you needa clean stuff a lot
Need an updated video with more solutions, like Zep. Either you or Project Farm
We were deciding whether to rent or buy a carpet cleaner and your reviews have made the decision clear. The vacuum market is so full of marketing BS it's so nice to have someone who knows what they are doing to help wade through the waters and help find better products. Thanks!
These experimental setups make your reviews so helpful! Thanks again , I refer to your vids often and enjoy them even when not in the market.
Cool, thanks!
I purchased a Bissell ProHeat @x Revolution carpet cleaner yesterday and also purchased extra carpet cleaning solution after viewing your videos. I like the way you compare the different solutions using a simple test. I also realize that it takes time and money to perform the tests and would like to help you channel. I bought a Kirby vacuum cleaner with a carpet cleaning attachment but, it was very messy and used it only once. I also bought a Nilfisk Hepa vacuum with all of the attachments because I used one at work to clean up asbestos debris in my laboratory.
I have this exact same carpet shampooer and have never once regretted the money I spent on it. With 2 dogs, 3 cats, a husband, and a teenage son I need all the cleaning abilities at my disposal and this machine has saved my carpets MORE than a few times!
This is great! This is going to save me and others a lot of money. I’ve always grabbed the rug doctor thinking it was the best but now it makes sense why it doesn’t last me when I’m cleaning.
Would love an updated video of this! Would also love to see urine on separate carpet swatches so you can test the smell left behind after cleaning.
Would love to see an updated list of carpet solutions ☺️ Love your channel. Been watching you forever by the way. I even watch videos to products that I don't even need lol. Keep up the good work

I love my Bissell Pro Heat ! Everyone in my family borrows it for their rugs because it's so amazing
I love that channels like this EXIST! Thank you =]
Thank you for this wonderful information! Helped so much
I love that you regularly upload
I'm hoping to catch a great sale on Bissell for Black Friday. I need this!
Great video! I really appreciate reviews like these that waste no time and show easy to see results within 5 minutes. I know exactly what to buy now. Thank you!!!
That's awesome! Thank you!
Your videos are great and much appreciated. Having made up my mind to buy the bissell pet pro I was wondering if you have done any reviews on carpet pretreatments before shampooing?
Good video! Obviously the cleaning solution you use as well as dilution ratio can make a huge difference in cleaning power so it’s good to see that this should level the playing field across all the brands of carpet cleaners. I think you need to re-run the carpet cleaner test again using the winner here and compare the results again!
Amazing content! Congratulations!! It helped me a lot!
Wow this video is well put together. Thanks for all your effort.
Thank you so much!
Great vid. Bang, Zoom, got to the point, no wasted time. Love it. Wish they were all this concise.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your videos. This is the second time I buy a product based on your opinion. You do a great job :)
God I love this channel. It’s helped me get my best vacuum cleaner ever, and also the carpet cleaner I got too!
Well I'm surprised there's any dislikes, you do a great job, I've watched your reviews for robot vacuums, vacuums, and now stopping by again for carpet cleaning. Love the reviews!!
Great testing methodology. I would say adding one with only water might be cool to see.
I would like recommend another one I used recently that amazed me. Woolite Pet + Oxygen Carpet cleaner. It’s a little cheaper than the Bissel solution. $14.97 at a Walmart. I used it with my Bissel Pro Heat cleaner.
Thank you! This is really helpful!
I used a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar with my Bissell carpet shampooer for areas where dogs had missed the puppy pads and had peed directly on the carpet. Excellent results and the vinegar smell dissipates within hours. By contrast, with the Bissell solution I noticed the urine smell was reduced but not completely removed. It was covered up. The vinegar, on the other hand, neutralizes the urine. No bad smell remained and the carpet was thoroughly cleaned. For quick spot treatments I use undiluted vinegar sprayed directly onto the spot.
How did it feel after?
Your videos are super helpful! 👏🏻👏🏻
Great and thorough review. Thanks
Thank you for great comparison. I would like to add the Rug doctor is 96oz for $21.99 while Bissell is half at 48oz for same price. Even if you use 5oz of Rug doctor it still comes out to be better deal than Bissell price wise. Considering their results are so close I would pick Rug doctor as better value.
Good input. Thank you.
In the next test can you try zep? I would love to see how it compares.
Thank you for this review I just bought a carpet cleaner. And was wondering which brand was a great product to use. Wow this review was right on time.
Thank you for the video! Super helpful.
Please do this test again! There’s lots of new products now plus formula changes and I would love to see some DIY ones!
Thank you!!!
Direct and informative.🙏
You are very welcome! Thank you for watching!
Never did I imagine I would need this video,, but I’ve got a lil older and now I’m here, thanks for saving me the trial and error
Glad to hear it! Thanks!
Great video - super helpful! Could you do a new shampoo video comparison soon that includes the "angry orange" shampoo??
You are the reason why I chose my carpet cleaner. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your tests! Excellent methods and visuals. I will buy this using your link so I hope it adds to your AA account. :) I am also buying a cleaner using your link.
Love you videos and have bought several things based on your reviews. Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
Would love to see this test again but with a new set of cleaning solutions alongside this winning Bissell
Yes, how about including Oxiclean Powder? It's hydrogen peroxide and sodium percarbonate and leaves no toxic byproducts. The oxygen power might clean carpets better than Bissell Pro Shampoo.
Agreed
Do you have a recommended cleaning PROCEDURE such as pre-treatment and clean water rinse? Great video. Thank you.
LOVE the review. I bought Bissell carpet shampooer and shark vac because of your videos.
Awesome Thanks!

Please don't ever let the big companies influence your honesty. Appreciate your videos. 👍
I appreciate that. Thank you.
@@VacuumWars can you make a video where you test DIY solutions and others such as washing up liquid or laundry detergent.
Always so helpful
Thank you
You are so welcome!
Could you do upholstery glitter tests?
Helping with the comments I'm glad you do this.
You helped me buy my shampooer and pick the best solution. Your videos are so perfect! I have NO questions after. My favorite was the sudden death round! Like why are you like this LOL. Thank you!
Wow! Thank you!
Great video, short, informative and to the point thank you sirr🎉
good review. what do you think about two step (an maybe three step) professional marketed solutions (pre-treat spot & post treat ph neutralizer, maybe with shampoo in the middle)?
Had recently picked up a Bissell Spot Carpet Cleaner 4 automotive n so on. I Wanted 2 research the options and what people prefer so this vid came 2 my attention. I love it. Super easy to use. Glad it gave me Bissell Pro Oxy Spot + Stain. At least I know what 2 keep in mind for options.
Great to hear!
Thank you for doing this!
Thank you for explaining the measurements. I wouldn't want to be going over it for hours to get the solution out😅.
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks for your tests and comparisons I bought a vacuum based on your results and am happy with my sharkvac keep up the good work and am looking for a carpet shampoo machine now thanks again
Thank you!
hey can you test the rainbow vacuum or the new bissell jet scrub :) i love all your videos
Can you do another video with CRI rated solutions? The Rug Doctor solution was the only one CRI rated, which is needed for some carpet warranties. Keep up the good work!
Hi Vacuum Wars, After having watched many of your videos and coming to this one to see which cleaning shampoo is the best i went to go grab some but found myself in another web of which type to use. Im sure your aware of the many different types Bissell sell and for different uses but its still a mine field. Maybe you could do a more in-depth video going in to more detail about which shampoo's are best from there range instead of just saying xyz brand is better than abc brand? Not sure how you can adapt this to all circumstances "which imo would be impossible" but at least to your current test to show which shampoo from the Bissell range is the best all round?
Keep up the great work!
Thanks now I know the better to buy. Thanks
Should add the ZEP products sold at home improvement stores by the gallon.
Curious about the odor removal and texture of the carpet afterward. I don't need the best stain remover each time, but if I could get softer carpet or possibly test the stain prevention feature of the Bissell solutions? I used a red bottle Hoover solution in the past and it left my carpets soft, bit the new white bottle left my carpets crunchy. Scotchgard is wax I believe, and I'm reluctant to use the Bissell solution due to this. Thx!
Very helpful. Thank you!🎉
Glad it was helpful!
When you are testing carpet cleaners next time, can you also test their suction to see which one picks up liquids the best?
I will, that will be coming up in a couple weeks.
@@VacuumWars any chance that video will be done before black Friday? Really interested in getting a carpet cleaner this year
@@johnknightiii1351 Yeah it will be out on Friday the 15th
@@VacuumWars thank you. I really appreciate all the work you do!
I just watched the video, and can say, this wasn't tested. You tested the "dryness", not the suction. Carpets with foam underneath, will be wet if not properly extracted.
I've watched a few professional carpet cleaning videos, and one technician remarked that he loves fixing jobs, in which the customer tried to use a Rug Doctor. It's major failure is the terrible suction.
Thank you. This helps me pick a carpet cleaner.
Happy to help!
I wish you would do another comparison between the Bissell Deep Clean Shampoo vs. regular Oxiclean powder?
I've watched a few videos on here in which professional carpet cleaners have said some of these products leave a residue in the carpet. To prevent this, how many "rinses" would you recommend after the initial cleaning?
I was wondering if you tested the ones for pet stains and odor
What would you suggest for a portable cleaner that you can easily clean out pet hair? A lot of negative comments about the Little Green not having a way to remove hair from the tank and attachments.
hello, please tell me which robot to choose? , no carpets, vacuum cleaner and floor cleaning, Is it worth buying s9 + and jet m6?
Wish you would do a comparison vlm machines and pre sprays for them!!!!😁❤
Can you do a test battle of all the most popular 2019 handheld vacuums? The 2018 video only did like 3 different ones.
I SAW THAT GEORGIA RED CLAY AND DIED. THAT STUFF STAINS EVERYTHING. Now show me how to get it out of white shoes. 🤣🤣🤣
Can you test some of the more value cleaners that come in gallon size? Such as ZEP, gallon size resolve, sams club brand, etc.
DON’T FORGET THE ROOMBA E5!
👍🏻best vacuum reviewer ever!
@@SusanPDavis nobody cares 😀
I love my Roomba. It's the 980 but even if I bought a less expensive one, it helps me so much to vacuum everyday. As the picture shows the reason why, um, doggy fur
I knew rug doctor shampoo did a good job. Never thought of boosting the amount of the bissell shampoo to get better results though. I figured it would foam too much
I wish there were nice machines like this for hard floors. The bissel crosswave just isn’t beefy enough.
yeah, I have the crosswave and find it pretty quirky - those little rollers get sopping wet, hard to figure out how much fluid to dispense, it just ends up being a mess - maybe it's just me, but I really dread using it and rarely do.
I saw in the directions to my bissell pro heat and there is a hard floor attachment. I have never used it so I dont know the effectiveness but maybe consider that. I have a crosswave as well. I wish it got closer to the floor boards and they save the new cordless max does that.. but I dont like the idea of a battery operated crosswave.
Any new shampoo products released in the last 4 years? Might it be time for another comparison video? Thanks for all your hard work and the reviews!
Coming soon!
Beautiful work. Excellent b-roll/a-roll, good lighting, good narration, good testing, short and sweet. You are the antidote to modern internet product reviews. F!@# amazon.
Wow, thank you!
I hope you can answer to me ... which one is the best or strongest vacuum for professionals use for my business and thank you
This explains why my carpet didn’t get cleaned. I didn’t realize there was a recommendation to raise the amount of solution when the carpet is more soiled. I’m going to try the 5oz in the gallon and check the difference.
I just got the Hoover Smartwash, and it has a separate tank for the solution. Could I just add extra solution to the water tank to make up the difference, or would that mess the machine up?
Any change that you could compare within the Bissell formulas, especially for pet stains?
So is the Bissell Advanced carpet cleaning shampoo considered #1 at 5oz's then? Or should we use the normal amount recommended on the back?
I have a Bissell big green pet pro and use the Bissell pro solution. It cleans really well
Glad you are happy with it!
I just dilute laundry powder into warm water tank. Seems to work well and saves LOTS of money.
thanks...
I’m looking at portable for cleaning my Subaru Outback carpet. Is the cleaning solution used for house carpet ok for use in a car?
Just purchased Rug Doctor do you think I could put the Bissell shampoo in it?
I would love to see Puracy carpet shampoo tested alongside these. It's my favorite brand of home care cleaning products.
here because jacob! we love him!
It would have been nice to compare a homemade solution of just laundry soap like Tide®, since carpet is made from the same materials as clothing. (Polyester, nylon)
FireHorse there are many many types of carpet. Poly, Nylon, Olefin, Berber, Wool, Silk, Saxon, etc.
@@Rex_r1k
I was referencing synthetic carpeting which he was using in his demonstration.
You should test the lindhaus organic alcohol extraction cleaner you get at vacuum stores. It’s really good and drys faster than any of those.
Do those boost/supplemental things you add on top of formula actually do anything?
You should try a DIY solution. Used the same carpet cleaner machine with a mix made of dish soap, fabric softener, oxiclean, and purple power and it cleans better than anything I've used.
interesting, thanks!
Yes! Great point! I don't buy ready-made carpet cleaners. I use Tide with Febreze and sometimes add a touch of bleach for tough stains, and when I want to add freshness to a room a go over it with a little Snuggle mixed in with just water. I've never not been able to get a stain out. The Tide and bleach mixture even cleaned dried green and red food coloring out of my light beige carpet (thanks 13 year old son for the stain lol)
I use super clean on very dirty carpet. 5:1. I also use glass cleaner, Dawn, rubbing alcohol, and distilled water.
M_Spoon what are the amounts you use that u mention????
@@av8rbri473 honestly I don't remember I just looked up some ratios online and followed them. I went with a stronger concentration though.
Can I use same Bissell pet pro for dry carpet vacuuming before the wet carpet vacuuming ?
Does Rug Doctor Quick Dry Carpet Detergent actually dry quicker? Considering only small amount of detergent added to the water.
Are you gonna have a top spot stain removers video for 2022
