How well does the Big Green dry the carpet? I’d like to know more about its performance when it comes to “dry only” (or, perhaps said another way: “time it takes from cleaning to drying” given enough effort)
So I’ve been using this carpet cleaner with warm water and it wasn’t removing the stain, so I decided to fill up with kettle water ,instantly removed ❤
Thank you for making these videos, nobody has ever done this and the information is invaluable for anyone that might be looking to purchase one of these units. Kudos to you for taking the time and taking the guess work out of these machines' capabilities. Hats off and I look forward to more of your videos.
I watched your last video on carpet cleaners and the Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution Pet Pros performance was the best. I purchased it and its been one of the best investments. I've cleaned my entire houses even family members houses and they were very impressed. So thank you for your comprehensive unbiased videos, I always come back to watch them.
The shout out to the commercial ones for repair and parts availability was really nice to see. Folks aught to not be throwing stuff in the landfill all the time. Great review!
@@VacuumWars VacuumWars can you maybe review the Nannyvac robot vacuum cleaner range, because I don’t know what to buy and there are new Nannyvac robot vacuum cleaners coming out in 2022. So can you please make review videos about the Nannyvac range!!!
I'd like all the products tested here to have an added repairability and part availability rating for those that like to maintain their things, or at least be able to have them serviced.
This is one of the reasons I decided to go the step up to a commercial machine. We have small animals and do a lot of cleanup. Trusting that a machine was going to be solid and reliable for years and could be fixed if necessary was a big factor in buying a Big Green Machine.
I considered buying a carpet cleaner some years ago, but the numerous reviews that said they broke in short order and that repair parts were not available, swayed me against buying vs renting. Don't want to throw away my $. I'll have to take a look here, and re-evaluate whether repairability is a feature of any of these.
My house has been a rental for at least 12 years and the carpets had not been replaced even before it became a rental so what should have been blue carpets are mostly getting grey/brown. I rented a rug doctor over a year ago and it barely got the dirt up (it was a slightly different style than these but still a rug doctor and the best they had available at Bunnings) and it was very, very hard work to get what dirt up that I did. My best friend got a Bissell revolution pet and she did my entrance hall which was easily the grossest part of the house, with just hot water it positively ate the dirt, for a 3m2 area it took two clean water tanks and 3 dirty to get the carpet almost ✨ sparkling ✨. I was amazed at just how much dirt came up and how easy it was to use. I will never rent a carpet cleaner again, instead I bought a Bissell revolution pet of my own, it hasn't gotten here yet but I am so hyped!
@@MrTokyoUbaYokai the Bissell revolution pet has done absolute wonders, there is nothing that can really be done about the carpets except get them replaced. My mother was a professional carpet cleaner in her younger years so we've done all the enzymatic sprays, etc that we can but I doubt the landlord's will be willing to get them replaced without a fight
@@MrTokyoUbaYokai Dude... if the Bissell works.. why waste money on a pro. Pro cleaning isn't significantly different than what a midrange carpet cleaner does... just someone else does it. Also if it worked well without any detergents that means less will get attracted to the carpet later (many pro services use detergents and if they aren't carefully removed they'll attract even more dirt than before). Probably getting a powerwash elite myself as it is on sale at home depot for like $120... can't beat that. And it has the spinning brushes rather than rotating ones so should be easier on any longer carpets I may use it on.
I bought a well used Bissell Clean Machine. Round type with reservoir surrounding the waste tank. It didn't pump at all. After watching a YT video that demonstrated removing the cover, I easily pushed a spade connector back on the pump terminal. Good to Go!
I had a very successful janitorial business for 16 yrs (got bored of it). I used the dry carpet method which is a 20-inch brush and a carpet pad in the middle the brush scrubs and the pad deposits the solution and picks it back up. one thing I learned is to use a solution that leaves no residue that will attract dirt (I left some in a lid and let it dry out and felt what was left) My solution ratio was the solution and 1 gallon of clear ammonia (you have to get used to the smell or use less, it WILL go away after about an hour) but ammonia is an excellent cleaner, leaves no residue and dries quickly
@@Onemorehustle yeah sorry i used to buy it from a janitorial supply out of Modesto ca but for some reason they stopped selling it, it was hard to find a cleaner that worked much less not leave a residue that attracts dirt. i went through about 6 cleaners before i found that one so i didnt clean much after that, I still used 1/5th cleaner 1/5th ammonia and 3/5ths water (since i mixed these in a 5 gallon mop bucket i could wring out my pads and the used ones got put to the side to be put in the washing machine to get cleaned again always had about 20 pads great system cleaned really well and left little to no water you could walk on it within an hour. Orbit had a good system at the time a double pad but i had invested a lot of money in my single pad to warrent buying it
I always used the rug doctor in the past and it took some work. I finally got the chance to rent a Bissell and it was such a difference in one pass. Could not believe it. I will never rent the rug doctor again!
One thing to consider that is not mentioned here or at most review sites is the brush style on the carpet. Most of my friends in the carpet profession prefer the rug doctor with no brush or the spin scrub. They have seen that the roller brush that is typically found on most vacuums and cleaners such as on the bissell is hard on the carpet and will wear it out quicker. The spin scrub brush style is easier on the carpet.
Yes, CRI certified machines and the wand for the hoover smartwash (purple one) seems conveniently left out to favor the Bissell for the premium pick, to give Bissell at least one of half the spots for final choice.
I’ve had both and the Hoover is so much better then the Bissell it’s shocking. The Bissell brush system will breakdown within a year. My Hoover I have now is 10 years old.
@@fat_basturd5345I am totally new to these machines and want them for my carpets and rugs. Please let me know if your hover machine does this job and the complete brand name please
@@fat_basturd5345 I've had both in the past and only had to replace them when I loaned them to friends and they f'd it up trying to clean it or vacuuming stairs with it falling down them. I saw on another video deep pile rugs you should get the spin brushes otherwise the path width rollers can suck/bog out on them. I do have to agree with you on one thing which is that the build quality of the Hoover seemed tougher than the Bissell I've had in the past. Now keep in mind I vacuum regularly, hepa air cleaner, thin carpet, non-smoker/incense/drug, all favorable situations and in this situation I'd simply recommend go with whatever is on sale, vacuum the carpet with your normal machine thoroughly, learn how to use the machine, pre-treat the carpet (measure the cleaning chemical, mix it in a spray bottle, evenly spray the area then wait 5-10 minutes before carpet shampooing stage to allow the chemicals to loosed the filth), the one thing people seem to forget is you need to thoroughly vacuum the home before carpet shampooing it. People need to understand that most of these machines aren't shop vac tough or pro-machine tough, and slow passes is a must.
Great video and comparison. thanks for your effort. I like the tried and true Rug Doctor for a simple reason - larger water tanks. While I have used them to clean houses, I typically rent to clean cars. Most people would never ride in their car again is they saw the amount of dirt that comes out of their seats. They would never believe their carpets. I will go through 20 tank refills easily and often as much as 30. So a smaller tank cleaner could double that easily. For those who think it is silly, the typical clean, well-cared-for used car I have purchased and cleaned has somewhere around 70,000 to 100,000 miles on it. I can expect the first 7 tanks to look like the Mississippi River. On the clear vacuum handheld attachments, it looks like you are sucking coffee out of the seats usually. These are cars that the seller thinks is clean.
I used one and it barely cleaned my carpet. I went over it 4 times and kept filling the tank up repeatedly. And the solution was awful didn’t do much. Ironically the bissell turbo cleaned my carpet really well and it smelled better too
Yes, you’re right. My used car experience can confirm this statement. My latest single preowned vehicle is w/ 76k mileage and the black perforated leather interior is in relatively good shape after 13 years owned car but with annual low mileage. The single previous owner took regularly maintenance care and in addition as big used car plus, it’s one of the most reliable and dependable power train and interior, Lexus RX 450h AWD.
I bought a Big Green about 5 years ago and it continues to be one of the best buys I've made. The amount of dirt it pulls up continues to amaze (and disgust) me even on new carpet. It's big and a little unwieldy for small stains but it really cannot be beat for whole-room cleaning jobs. And it's robust enough that I don't feel bad about loaning it to friends and family.
Same. My parents have one and all siblings and an aunt all borrow it and it has never had a single problem (not even a clog). I prespray using a professional detergent (there's usually a professional carpet cleaning store within driving distance of most people) and get better results than carpet cleaning companies.
My biggest frustration with carpet cleaners is getting them clean afterwards. With 4 cats I get lots of cat hair built up in the machine that is really difficult to remove from the machine after use....would love to see a video comparing models on easiest to clean afterwards.
OK... the easiest ones to clean are the Hoover mid size like the turbo scrub, power scrub, elites etc.. I mean, everything comes off (even the front lens).. the dirty water tank opens up...the only thing on the machine itself that gets dirty that won't come off is the screen, which can be easily cleaned...even the brushes on the bottom pop off and come apart for cleaning..But with these you have to make sure everything is dry before storing it away...put all the parts and the machine in front of a fan to blow dry... Also, I feel like out of all the home carpet cleaners, these have the best extraction.
Somebody else commented about the Hoover So I figured I'd compare my experience, borrowing my friend's Bissell 2X ProHeat Pet Pro! Since I borrowed it, I had to clean it thoroughly before returning it. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, one of each that constantly blows their coat. One dog was sick and throwing up everywhere (he has Addison's disease and were just about to find out! He's doing very well, completely back to "normal," with regular treatments ♡) so we had to borrow the machine. If the cats throw up anywhere, it's gonna be my nice rug, so I figured I'd wash that at the same time, and they like to lounge around there and on the bedroom floor (where a majority of the sickness took place, poor pup) So Much Hair I'd wished I could have vacuumed first, there was so much However, as far as I'm aware, I was able to remove all parts of the machine that interacted with the outside (meaning picked up anything from the floor). I did get Super Soaked ™️, figuring out *how* to clean all the parts, and if I didn't have my nice new faucet with super good pressure (re: Super Soaked ™️) I *may* have required a pipe cleaner to help with a clump of hair that got stuck in the front, but it came out fine once I figured it out. All-in-all, I'm pretty sure everything can be removed and cleaned nicely ♡
The Bissell Pro Heat 2x Revolution Pro ultra mega super duo extreme is easily my pick for versatility, ease of use, and price. I was able to get mine for 40% off at Kohl's a couple years ago and it has rocked since.
My old machine broke and it wasn't in the budget but out of desperation with two dogs and kids....I went with the bissel turbo clean power brush pet. It was a pain in the butt to empty and fill non stop but I will say this brush is amazing! Pulled up so much embedded stuff.
Hi, I heard so many ppls complaints that hoover proheat x2 is leaving the carpet very wet ? And that is so loud, is that true ? If yes, which one was the best considering the dryness level of the carpet after use ? Thank you
Hello! Please, can someone explain how often should I clean my house with one of these carpet cleaners? I am afraid of making my carpet damp too often and damaging them in the long term. Is that possible? What I like the most about these machines is how the air inside the house feels refreshed after deep cleaning. Thanks for helping me.
The double brushroll setups are belt driven usually by a flat or cogged belt. The Hoover Spinscrub is air driven by a turbine motor. I'll always take the Big Green any day.
I have a vax platinum and regret getting rid of my bissel for an “upgrade”. The problem with vax machines is that they’re not easy to clean after use and you have to remove many many screws to get to all the parts for cleaning. The bissel just clipped out and was easy to clean, so I think I’ll go with your choice of the bissel premium and hope it will be easy to clean.
One important feature is , self propelled, motor assisted or not. The mid side makes it heavier to move on Wet Long Hair Carpets, but some models have the wheel with motor assistance.
Thank you for your videos they have helped me so much! My grandmother lives with me and she has a dog. She doesn’t take it outside to use the bathroom, so he goes in the house on a dog pad. He tracks his pee threw out the whole house. I just recently had a baby recently so this helped me so much thank you!
Thanks to all of your comparison and recommendation videos I’ve watched over the last couple of years, I recently found a deal on a Bissell Proheat 2x Revolution Pet Pro and snagged it instantly, already knowing it was one of the best options out there. Haven’t gotten to try it out yet but SO excited to own it after fawning over it in your videos 🤣
@@rifayahamed2640 I found it at Walmart for $199 online during cyber week. The version I got (model 1964) only came with one attachment but that was fine with me, I got it for general carpet cleaning :)
@@rifayahamed2640 definitely vacuum before using it otherwise it will probably clog with all of the debris. I thought I vacuumed thoroughly first, and still had to clean clumps of cat hair out of it. I wouldn’t recommend using the Pet Pro as a vacuum. They have different purposes. I don’t know vacuums & carpet cleaners well enough to explain why you shouldn’t, but the Pet Pro is built for water extraction, not dry vacuuming.
Bought the Bissell Pet Pro but found out that there is a major issue in that the bristles _never_ stop rotating. This caused an issue with carpet wear and fuzzing when I was using it as a upholstery cleaner. As the carpet had long nap, it caused a lot of drag and resulted in the belt smelling like burning rubber. Having owned a Hoover that lasted for 20 years prior that stopped the bristles when the handle was upright, I viewed this as a design defect (which was confirmed by their customer service) and returned the Bissell and ordered another Hoover. And the dirty water tank seemed very low volume, resulting in having to empty significantly more times than I was used to.
I bought the Hoover You mentioned in the more expensive cleaners but the spot cleaner was in the handle, like a wand. Anyway, I liked it because the brushes were removable making them easier to clean. If you have more pets than you need and must clean carpets at least once every other month, monthly sometimes here, do not get that machine. I loved it but the first one broke after 6 months (rollers quit turning and you can’t replace the belt). They gave me a new one. It stopped after about 7 months. And I cleaned it after every use making sure no hair was in the roller areas. So when it broke I ordered the Bissell Big Green cleaner because that was what we had to rent to finish cleaning my carpet right before Christmas. I liked it so I bought one for my Christmas present (one of them anyway. 😁😁😂😅😁😁.. ). Replacement parts can be ordered for it so I hope it lasts years.
Recently bought the Hoover. Thanks for this heads up. Part of me thought I should have paid more and got the Big Green Machine. I have dogs. Really like how easy it is to clean the brushes. My previous Hoover with the spinning brushes was a pain to clean.
Went out and bought the Bisseli Proheat 2x revolution max pet pro on your advice and it's fantastic. Thank you. Pulled a lot of ground in dirt out of my carpets. The old walked in stains I can't get out, but that's fine, happy with the result.
Can you make a video on which is the easiest to clean after use. I need one for my workplace and i know of my co-workers wont clean it if it doesnt come apart easy like without a screw driver. Or if the dirty water tanks are fiddly to tip out and rinse
Which setting did you use? Max clean, deep clean or express clean? I recently just upgraded to this model and I have to say I am loving it and wish I would have spent the extra money on this one first verse the one I did purchase first.
Just got the Bissell Revolution 2X Pet Pro in part due to this review as well as other consistently positive reviews. It works great. A couple of cons: The trigger is a bit stiff - I'm a big guy with strong hands and it gets fatiguing on my index finger. I envision this would be problematic for a typical woman. Also the handle could be more ergonomic - it's a fairly heavy machine and I find the corners start to dig in to my fingers - I'm wearing my arborist gloves for some padding and going to get some baseball bat wrap and maybe wrap it around padding on the underside to round out the shape. The low capacity of the dirty water tank is a PITA but I'm going to do my whole house in stages with long-neglected carpet so ultimately it's going to be less expensive than renting a Rug Doctor and this is a lot less cumbersome to use, can get under things and just move them aside a few inches instead of having to totally clear an area. I'm going to seriously look into fabricating a larger lower tank out of fiberglass or Lexan. Yeah, letter of the Bissel law it would probably void the warranty if they knew about it but like they're ever going know - lol. Forget the instructions on how many inches per second - go over the selected area slowly. Also I'm using one of the DIY detergent recipes found on RUclips using Tide, OxiClean, LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner at a fraction of the obscenely overpriced solution in the stores. They include fabric softener in the recipe but I'm leaving it out and concentrating on getting the carpet clean. I'm also doubling up on the amount they say to use again because of the neglected condition of the carpet. You're going to have to make multiple passes if the carpet is really dirty. I'm on the 4th or 5th slow pass over the same approx 6x10 area and the water is still coming out brown, maybe slightly less brown than the first pass. I suggest pre-treating the carpet - get a cheap sprayer, spray some kind of cleaner in a liberal amount to really wet the carpet and use a clean broom to work it in to start breaking up the grime with special attention to stains.
Take a spray bottle to pretreat your carpet with warm water to the carpet cleaner. After spraying onto your carpet wait 2-3 minutes then use your carpet cleaner water only to clean the carpet. This is how professionals will do the carpet cleaning for your carpets at home
I found your videos very helpful. Now as for the pets that leave the stains. Dont waste 100-200 on a flap for your security door. As you have to cut the diamond shapes and fly screen out to fit such a door,. just cut the diamonds etc and silicone on a piece of plastic. Add some magnets if you like, youve just saved 100-200 bucks. Works just as well. If you dont have flies, just cut out a hole.
Thank you so much for creating this video. I am planning to purchase one of the carpet cleaner machines, Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe FH50150 as you recommend. Since I live in a 1BR apartment and do not have enough space to move all the furniture to another room, I am thinking of spending 2 days cleaning the carpet for my living room and bedroom so I can move my stuff from one place to the other. In that case, Is it OK to leave the machine as it is overnight? Or do I need to clean it (especially the brush part) every time after use? 🤔
That's the trick, isn't it? It's easy to put water and solution down, but getting it back up again is really the important part! Aside from the cleaning job not being complete if you're leaving solution and water behind, nobody wants to step on wet or damp carpeting!
I was all set on the Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution® Pet Pro, but since I plan to do a lot of hose work, the fact that Bissell didn't provide a way to turn off the brushes when using the hose and attachments seemed a stunning design oversight. It led me to look at the Hoover Smartwash with the wand, which shuts off the rollers when the user brings the handle upright. Not sure whether it deliver, but I like the concept of the Hoover's standalone pretreatment wand more than the off-center spot treatment port on the Bissell. Plus the Hoover will cost me about $100 less. Regardless, I love watching the reviews. Very well done. ETA that another feature of the Hoover that I really like is a dedicated rinse. It's easy to use too much cleaning product, which has the effect of adding dirt to the carpet if it's not removed. At the very least, it will mean the carpet will look dirty sooner. A final thought, I am waiting for the carpet cleaning test that revisits the results in 2 weeks to a month after cleaning to see whether the spots have wicked up or are really gone. Wicking is the bane of DIY carpet cleaners working on wall to wall or other immovable carpet. But I'll go on faith and get the Hoover without that demonstration.
@@pennmccullough6359 since this comment, my Bissell proheat died on the second use. Just wouldn't power on again. Looks like a common flaw in the power components involving a fuse? A lot of people want them recalled on amazon
Dont do it..Its terrible. Has great features if they worked!! but they dont. It stops sucking up the water constantly. Had it 2 months and was ready to throw it over my balcony. Its now in the garage and i went and bought the Bissell 2x... If u choose to go with Hoover DO NOT go with the Smartwash model. Google "Smartwash not sucking up dirty water"... its a constant problem for anyone duped into buying this 200.00 piece of crap. Im not familiar with any of Hoovers other shampooers but the Smartwash is ridiculous.
Hello, we just put together the hoover power scrub xl pet. The brushes don't spin amd i found the brushes very soft. After watching your video I instantly know why the two type brush carpet cleaner gets stuck and the hoover doesn't. The hoover brushes aren't stiff, they're super super soft, they glide over the carpet, and that's why must pass the cleaner multiple times over a spot to clean. Soft bristles don't clean efficiently. The Bissell one has stiffer brushes/bristles, it cleans better, and bcz of the stiffer brushes it gets stuck. I don't know if we should keep the hoover, we don't have pets, our carpets are very clean at all times, but once a year we like to clean them. What is your suggestion? Thank you
I know this is an old post, but I read that the Rug Doctor ones don't have brushes, but I would check to make sure. Might be the best way to go for wool carpet.
I just discovered your channel and I am weirdly hooked. I wish I had found you before I bought my last carpet cleaner, but alas. Thank you for doing such great comparisons!
Question. Looking for a carpet cleaner but one that comes with a hose plus attachment so I can use for my car. What's the comparison on the hose power on an upright vs a spot cleaner. Wondering if I need to get two units, why I ask
The extremely hard brush of the Bissell ProHeat 2x completely shredded my low pile wool rug. Do you have a recommendation for a carpet cleaner that has gentler modes when needed?
I picked the Big Green up from Best Buy a few years ago for 479 dollars I believe. It's been a fantastic investment 3 kids 2 dogs and it's paid for itself many times from all the rentals I would have needed
I've been wanting to replace my Bissell Pro Heat Pet, it worked nice for 2-3 years but has gone downhill & I'm tired of working on it including a tear down, disassembling & cleaning of everything except for replacing all seals and gaskets. I'm really reluctant to buy another Bissell, however most reviews recommend the Bissell Revolution.
Thank you for making such an in-depth OVERVIEW of the products in addition to your REVIEWS! I wish both descriptions were covered in more review categories as having both significantly helps someone become familiar quickly with the product category quickly for the brands offered. I have only ever used an old 80s and 90s hoover model and rented commercial units before and want to get a upright unit for my home to make regularly cleaning and even day to day jobs more practical. Thank you so much this helped a ton! (Similarly your electric mop/hard floor cleaner video was also amazingly helpful!)
Very helpful, straightforward, and everything is communicated clearly with nothing the average consumer wouldn't understand. Much appreciated. Definitely going to utilize these recommendations for my self. This may be a niche category for RUclips's algorithm, but I hope your channel blows up to help others.
I have used just about every carpet cleaner out there. I'm a Bissel Big Green fan. Except for also having a small spot cleaner for emergency pick-ups & stair cleaning, I'm done with all the others. I'm in a committed relationship with Big Green from now on.
I’m so glad I’m buying a carpet cleaner because it’s an excuse to watch your content again!! I haven’t been this excited since I bought my last vacuum 😅
Sold me on the Bissell big green I almost got the rug doctor pro but saving a few hundred dollars and a pro recommendation cemented the big green. Thank you.
What solution did you use on the Carpets and do you use hot/warm/cold water? I have 80/20 wool carpets but am worried about using hot water on them. Please could you advise.
I will say with the Hoover power dash pet it is a million times harder to clean if you have pets. I was constantly having a hard time cleaning it so it wouldn’t smell after washing. It broke down so I upgraded to the Hoover smartwash and it is 1000000x easier to use and clean.
I've been doing endless research over the past 24 hrs for a new shampooer but didnt want to get one that didnt meet my needs. By the look of it, i had a top of the line cleaner but the suction stopped working. I bought it in 2014 and it had the double rollers and the clean shot, worked great while i had it but now its time for a new one and ypu helped me pick The Bissell 2x revolution pro pet
Which one would be best for a 650 sq ft apartment with two small dogs. I have an older dog with kidney issues and a puppy 5lbs that is in potty training. I also have dust allergies.
Any information on average life on these? That is my big worry with going into buying these. In my research it seems like only the commercial vacuums last more than 1-2 years.
Thank you for a great review! Very objective and sensible criteria, didn't sense any bias in your evaluation. For the Premium Mid-Size category, there is now the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Pet Carpet Cleaner.. would you choose this as the favorite for the Premium Mid-Size category?
Glad it was helpful! Yes - that one is actually our favorite mid-range carpet cleaner. We keep links to our favorites updated in the descriptions of all of our videos.
Hi, I bought the Bissell pet Pro Carpet cleaner. After a few times using, the suction does not pick up the water. If i put my foot with pressure on the front of cleaner it will suction the water? I have looked at everything and did all the trouble shooting in the manual. Do you have any ideas? It is not the tank. Thank you, DEb
I LOVE our Bissell Pro Heat 2X for pets. It does clean well. The clean shot has purpose and helpful but dependent on type and degree of stain. My only complaint is post use. We have two German Shepherds who shed like crazy. All the pre vacuuming can’t save the removable parts that dispense liquid and clean. I often have to remove the parts and thoroughly rinse them to finish the job. And on the chance that I don’t need to do it half way, you HAVE to do it each time you use it! I’ve also noticed it leaks if left sitting upright with the clean liquid tank still attached. BUT, I did see that Bissell not has a tray that not only cleans the brush rolls, etc, when you sit the vacuum on it up also prevents water leaking all over! I also have the Bissell Green, love it and have no complaints!
I've realised this too with the machine I can't lie I've used it a few times but have not cleaned it yet dread the job. I thought the dripping was just a few times but I realise its not just my machine. Its not a lot but an annoyance considering the price. Still its worth it in my opinion compared to the other machines with the performance of the Bissell 2X.
I'm thinking of buying the bissell 2x pro heat. Question You are saying it leaks water after your done cleaning machine after use or it leaks as you are using it?
@@shalon4jc2 it leaks when I’m done and leave it sitting in the kitchen until I get to rinsing all the removable parts. It’s from the clean water tank and it’s by no means a deal breaker. This machine is easy to use, 3 levels, great attachments (spend the $$$$ and get the 3 way stair attachment. Worth it!) AND CLEAN! Cleaning it does suck but so easy.
The most important feature is the SUCTION POWER. IF YOU DONT’ GET enough rinse water into the carpet, you don’t get it clean…. if you don’t get the dirty rinse water up, why bother. I’ve had two different high end machines and yet neither sucks water like a shop vac. Shop vac only has a maximum 5” nozzle. So which has the best suction?
I usually just watch this channel for entertainment, but I was just giving a rug that I wanted to clean before using it, and decided it didn't make sense to pay to have it cleaned when someday I'll have a house with a lot of carpet anyway so it'd be nice to have a carpet cleaner even if it's a cheap one. Even if I don't buy one of the ones in this video this gives me great tips on how to look for a good one.
The main issue seems to be how long these things last. I read Bissell has problems with belts and leaking, while the Hoover has issues with parts that rust, leaking and a turbine (I replaced turbine and tried to find leak). It seems like the commercial ones might last longer?
Question, will the shampoo that comes along with these vacuum cleaners also work for disinfecting/sanitizing the carpet? Recently I had a bunch of workers come into my home with dirty shoes on, walking all over both the carpet and tile/wood floor, not to mention the stairs. Right now the only vacuum cleaners available are some old models that just spew particles due to the lack of effective seals for their HEPA filters, so I am curious if any on this list will be effective for the task, as my research for any such effect has come up short due to the lack of any such data available. Steam might be an option, but it's a pricey one I rather not resort to unless I need otherwise.
I like for the stand alone Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Pet Pro and Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Pet, the pet was the winner, but with this video now the more expensive is recommended. Wonder if its because he gets a larger percentage through sponsored links now.
I had that Bissell pro heat pet one. Had it for a year. Used and abused it well for my house. Sadly it died the other day. Now looking at a Hoover with the spinning brushes
@Vacuum Wars Want to thank you for this excellent video. We are in the process of moving to a 3 bedroom place with wood floors in main living areas but carpet in the bedrooms. Because of this video I got the Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Clean Pet Pro. I used it today and it is amazing. Brand new carpet but so much dirty came up. Thank you for all your testing. I also bought a vacuum because of your other video. Keep up the great work.
The Bissell in the prem. tier with the purple & lime green is the one I am wanting (when we actually have carpet) haha But seriously THANK YOU for the Shark duo clean fins vid you did a few weeks back. I saw that & knew I had to have it. It's amazing! Battery life isn't the greatest but that's why I bought an extra battery to go with it. I'm super happy w my purchase.
I purchased the one your wanting and its been great. I've used it to clean a few of my family members houses and its not once had a fault. The weight of the machine is not too heavy for taking up the stairs. I especially like that it can get under bed frames it lies nearly flat saves on moving everything around in cramped spaces.
So the only one you would recommend for cleaning the car is a portable? I don't believe you mentioned the weights of each machine. Even with the long hoses of the attached spot-clean hand-held brushes, a portable is probably easier to use, right?
Ansew me something does that water actually ever come out clean? I see you going over the carpets over and over again does it eventually come out clear?
I so appreciate this thorough yet concise and well-organized review! Thank you! Your choice for the best premium mid-size carpet cleaner is the one I've been interested in getting. A question, though: Do you happen to know if the machine requires a certain type of soap/shampoo, or can you use a variety of cleaners?
I absolutely love your videos! Thank you so much for putting in the time to do it right, and for keeping it simple at the same time. I do have a question. Do you have a video on or a recommendation for the following? Bissell spotclean pet pro VS Bissell proheat 2x revolution upholstery cleaning? I'm wondering which cleans upholstery better. Thanks!
I had a Bissell Proheat Pet Turbo. It was fine but started leaking and the jets were intermittent. I was tied between the Bissell 2X Revolution Pet Pro or the Hoover Smartwash. Ended up going with the Bissell 2X Rev Pet Pro. I probably don’t need all the bells and whistles it has but I’m glad to have them.
i just happen on this video at the most perfect time. i am going to be buying a shampooer because i have a cat that pukes at least once a week. so that is a lot of carpet to shampoo. thank you for the comparison. you gave good feed back
Do any of these have the capability to dry vacuum as well as the wet cleaning? That wasn't mentioned at all as a feature. I want just one machine. I have very little carpet and only 2 area rugs. I have very few stains. I need overall cleaning. Which do suggest?
Thank you so much for all this information you share with us, it's very helpful!! Quick question, can I use these carpet cleaners on hard floor, how effective can they be?
Just found out about this and wanted to share. TTI owns Hoover and they have a factory outlet for tools mostly Ryobi and Rigid and such but they have Hoover products also. The Hoover Smartwash Pet is $62 for a factory blemished model. They have some vacuums and stuff too. It’s Direct Tools Factory Outlet

I don’t even have carpets, that’s how entertaining this channel is.
I don’t have much hard floor, nor ones that would withstand steam, and I still watch all his reviews on the soft roller vacuums and steam mops 🤷🏻♀️😂
haha!
We are kindred spirits. I watch pet training videos on Instagram and do not plan to ever own a pet.
I tried one on hard floors...
the carpet cleaner did NOTHING but make a huge puddle of water/formula.
😂🤣😅🤣
Thank you for making these videos, nobody has ever done this and the information is invaluable for anyone that might be looking to purchase one of these units. Kudos to you for taking the time and taking the guess work out of these machines' capabilities. Hats off and I look forward to more of your videos.
You're very welcome!
Hey is the big green good for upholstery? Does it have good suction power?
I watched your last video on carpet cleaners and the Bissell Pro Heat 2X Revolution Pet Pros performance was the best. I purchased it and its been one of the best investments. I've cleaned my entire houses even family members houses and they were very impressed. So thank you for your comprehensive unbiased videos, I always come back to watch them.
Hey do you still like yours? I need to replace a Bissell that I currently hate and am feeling reticent.
The shout out to the commercial ones for repair and parts availability was really nice to see. Folks aught to not be throwing stuff in the landfill all the time. Great review!
Thanks!
Thank you, this is good info!!
May i ask What solution did you use?
Orbit had a good system at the time a double pad but i had invested a lot of money in my single pad to warrent buying it
I have Bissell pro heat bought it 7 years ago I still love it. It removes and cleans all of the stains even permanent markers thanks to my kids.
I always used the rug doctor in the past and it took some work. I finally got the chance to rent a Bissell and it was such a difference in one pass. Could not believe it. I will never rent the rug doctor again!
shark is way better
That is great to hear!
You are the family I wish I had right now lol.
Same. My parents have one and all siblings and an aunt all borrow it and it has never had a single problem (not even a clog).
I prespray using a professional detergent (there's usually a professional carpet cleaning store within driving distance of most people) and get better results than carpet cleaning companies.
What detergent do you use@@themikeroberts
I don't know if I'm more thankful, or surprised, that there is a video our here like this. THANKYOU
My biggest frustration with carpet cleaners is getting them clean afterwards. With 4 cats I get lots of cat hair built up in the machine that is really difficult to remove from the machine after use....would love to see a video comparing models on easiest to clean afterwards.
THIS!!
OK... the easiest ones to clean are the Hoover mid size like the turbo scrub, power scrub, elites etc..
Somebody else commented about the Hoover
So I figured I'd compare my experience, borrowing my friend's Bissell 2X ProHeat Pet Pro!
If the cats throw up anywhere, it's gonna be my nice rug, so I figured I'd wash that at the same time, and they like to lounge around there and on the bedroom floor (where a majority of the sickness took place, poor pup)
So
Much
Hair
I'd wished I could have vacuumed first, there was so much
However, as far as I'm aware, I was able to remove all parts of the machine that interacted with the outside (meaning picked up anything from the floor).
Yup. I just broke mine trying to clean it lol.
@@originaldk5436 sorry that happened. I'm super careful with my hoover but so far so good after 3 years....
I Bought the Hoover Smartwash pet, cleaned 15 year old carpet a!most like new. I was sold on the automatic spray and mix.
That is great to hear!
The Bissell Pro Heat 2x Revolution Pro ultra mega super duo extreme is easily my pick for versatility, ease of use, and price. I was able to get mine for 40% off at Kohl's a couple years ago and it has rocked since.
Can it be used dry vacuuming ?
@@eynarmanzano7871 no
My old machine broke and it wasn't in the budget but out of desperation with two dogs and kids....I went with the bissel turbo clean power brush pet. It was a pain in the butt to empty and fill non stop but I will say this brush is amazing! Pulled up so much embedded stuff.
Glad it worked out so well!
How much does the quality of the cleaning solution play into how well these machines work?
I am so glad this helps you! I hope you are happy with whichever you choose!
I have the same issue! Baby’s health is very important
For how much you got it ?
@@rifayahamed2640 I found it at Walmart for $199 online during cyber week. The version I got (model 1964) only came with one attachment but that was fine with me, I got it for general carpet cleaning :)
I've been using one for 2 yrs, love it.
@@shelliebean vacuum is necessary before the cleaning ? If yes, could I use the same bissell pet pro for vacuuming the carpet ?
@@rifayahamed2640 definitely vacuum before using it otherwise it will probably clog with all of the debris. I thought I vacuumed thoroughly first, and still had to clean clumps of cat hair out of it.
I wouldn’t recommend using the Pet Pro as a vacuum. They have different purposes. I don’t know vacuums & carpet cleaners well enough to explain why you shouldn’t, but the Pet Pro is built for water extraction, not dry vacuuming.
I have all wood floors but I'm autistic so I'm watching the whole vid anyway
lmao 😂
I'm glad your channel exists...I have an apartment inspection for the carpet next week and you helped me make a decision
Glad I could help!
Great to hear!
Is there any added value in machines that heat up the solution before laying it down?
Thanks so much for taking the time to review all of these and all the video editing. I especially appreciate that you update your buyer's guide.
Thank you!
Finally someone who suggests good carpet cleaners for longer shag carpets. 🙌🏻
Can you make a video on which is the easiest to clean after use. I need one for my workplace and i know of my co-workers wont clean it if it doesnt come apart easy like without a screw driver. Or if the dirty water tanks are fiddly to tip out and rinse
Would you go the big green or the Pet pet pro max 2 if you could choose either regardless of price?
What's the best affordable carpet formula to use to remove stains?
Thank you so much for creating this video. I am planning to purchase one of the carpet cleaner machines, Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe FH50150 as you recommend. Since I live in a 1BR apartment and do not have enough space to move all the furniture to another room, I am thinking of spending 2 days cleaning the carpet for my living room and bedroom so I can move my stuff from one place to the other. In that case, Is it OK to leave the machine as it is overnight? Or do I need to clean it (especially the brush part) every time after use? 🤔
I’d like to see tests which suck up the most water to make the driest carpets
Same issue with Bissell regular vacuums. Roller continues to burn into your rug using the hose. I have to tip it on its side to clean the couch 😤😤
@@billythefxck That's a shame. The ProHeat isn't a vac, but I take your point. It's a design flaw.
Thank you
Should add wool carpet to the test panel. Generally a brush type will burr up wool carpet leaving them looking shaggy instead of tightly wound.
I know this is an old post, but I read that the Rug Doctor ones don't have brushes, but I would check to make sure. Might be the best way to go for wool carpet.
Which one do you recommend for a apartment with just traffic stains?
I just discovered your channel and I am weirdly hooked. I wish I had found you before I bought my last carpet cleaner, but alas. Thank you for doing such great comparisons!
Question. Looking for a carpet cleaner but one that comes with a hose plus attachment so I can use for my car. What's the comparison on the hose power on an upright vs a spot cleaner. Wondering if I need to get two units, why I ask
Good question.
Hi, Great Video - I was wondering if any of these is a drive assist (forward and backward)? if not can you let us know who makes them, Thanks!
That is great to hear!
What attachments for stairs that you used with it? Thank you
What made you choose the Bissell Pet Pro vs the regular Pet. Didn't you choose the latter in an earlier video?
(Similarly your electric mop/hard floor cleaner video was also amazingly helpful!)
thank you!!
Very helpful, straightforward, and everything is communicated clearly with nothing the average consumer wouldn't understand. Much appreciated. Definitely going to utilize these recommendations for my self. This may be a niche category for RUclips's algorithm, but I hope your channel blows up to help others.
Wow thank you!
I have used just about every carpet cleaner out there. I'm a Bissel Big Green fan. Except for also having a small spot cleaner for emergency pick-ups & stair cleaning, I'm done with all the others. I'm in a committed relationship with Big Green from now on.

Sold me on the Bissell big green I almost got the rug doctor pro but saving a few hundred dollars and a pro recommendation cemented the big green. Thank you.
Which one is better for a long lasting commercial cleaner ??
On the Bissell turboclean powerbrush pet I do 1 forward spray pass and then 4 and 1/2 passes sucking up the dirt
Which one would be best for a 650 sq ft apartment with two small dogs. I have an older dog with kidney issues and a puppy 5lbs that is in potty training. I also have dust allergies.
thanks for the tests, I ended up buying the powerdash pet and it works great!
Enjoy!
the best video so far, summarizes the classification of wide range of carpet cleaners really well.
Thanks I bought the hover power dash it works so well 😊
Great to hear!
Yeah the cleaning after is definitely the worst part
Thanks for writing about the tray. The cleanup is what I’m looking forward to the least, for sure! (Just purchased, haven’t tested yet)
Thanks just picked up Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution Max Pet Pro using your referral link! Thanks again for making this great video!!!
Hope you enjoy it! Thank you!
@Vacuum Wars
Want to thank you for this excellent video.
Thank you! I hope the rest of your move goes well!
That is great to hear! Thanks!
I have a bissell and yes it does. You can see the water coming up turn clear and thats how you know youre done
SUCH an amazing & helpful video! THANK YOU!! Seriously this could not be more perfect, thank you
So cool! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Check with the manufacturer about the shampoos that are ok to use.
I've been on a lot of sites lately looking for a good comparison on upright vacuums foer cleaning carpets & yours has been the best, thank you.
Awesome! Thank you!
Thank you for saving us hours of research! I'm going w your recommendations (either pro or commercial version) ❤
You're very welcome! We hope you are happy with it!
i just happen on this video at the most perfect time. i am going to be buying a shampooer because i have a cat that pukes at least once a week. so that is a lot of carpet to shampoo. thank you for the comparison. you gave good feed back
You are the BEST! Thank you for all you do. ⭐️
Thank you!!!
Do any of these have the capability to dry vacuum as well as the wet cleaning? That wasn't mentioned at all as a feature. I want just one machine. I have very little carpet and only 2 area rugs. I have very few stains. I need overall cleaning. Which do suggest?
How do these machines compare to a galaxy machine . How important is the spray. Does more psi make a difference, is hotter better is steam better?
Well organized, detailed and very precise review!
Thank you so much for making this, helped me a lot which to choose for my mother
Thank you
Wondering where the Hoover Powerscrub XL would rank in this line up
I scored a Big Green carpet cleaner for $200 brand new someone was selling on Facebook.
Thank you so much for all this information you share with us, it's very helpful!! Quick question, can I use these carpet cleaners on hard floor, how effective can they be?
These are designed for textile cleaning, so I wouldn’t recommend using them to clean hard surfaces.
