I love that they feel confident and comfortable enough to let the scenes hold and the silence draw out, not feeling the need to shove cuts and effects in our faces. Feels much more chill.
The fact that it’s a car build showing us everything and not have a ton of over edited parts makes this miles more enjoyable to watch. And that is a beautiful pup

No matter how big this channel gets, PLEASE don’t ever forget this format. Big budgets and fancy shops don’t make a channel… it’s the people and the projects. Hunting for a tools in a buddy’s garage and making multiple Harbor Freight runs is something we can actually relate to.
Absolutely this. I can't count how many channels I've unfollowed over the years because they went from that wholesome DIY driveway scene to an 8 lift warehouse with tools you could never dream of owning.
The amount of time I've spent searching for my 10mm socket is ridiculous
Haha nailed it with the HF runs, though for me it’s Ace Hardware and Autozone
Hey, hey, hey. I like both.
Exactly! It's this stuff that gets me wanting to finish my projects that are cluttering up my space. 😂
This video feels like watching the golden era of some CERTAIN automotive media channel once again.
Good luck to you guys!
This is the lost art of working on a car. Hanging with friends, joking around, and just plain having fun. As someone said below, don't lose sight of this. This is what got me into Donut initially, so keep up the great work.
I love how wholesome environment in the garage. Doggo barking, camera guy sneezing, random person walking by. I see a good future for this channel. 👍
Doggo barking kids screaming like they saw a hellhound
Doggo is the lead supervisor
I love the Dog content. A dog makes everything more relatable. Not the star, but a great supporting actor.
Don’t forget Jerry in the background taking care of business
Getting Doordash during a build video was a first fr
THIS is what Donut should’ve been for the last couple years. Guys with everyday cars and a limited budget, not a $100k+ budget and an insane project you couldn’t do at home
Watching them throw money at that ranger with absolutely nobody around that is an offroader was sad, they're gonna die at baja
@@motodude23It was ridiculous how much they spent… Could’ve built a much better off-roader for less than $50k and they’re six figures into that Ranger

Exactly!!!
I don’t remember when I stopped watching Donut vids, but I can tell you this is exactly the type of content I’ve been dying to watch again. Straight forward no nonsense builds! Love it! Can’t wait to see more!!
Even though I started following Donut in 2018 the peak of watching it to me was the early money pit days at the start of Covid where it was mainly the miata build in this garage or Jeremiah’s version of B2B.
I think the fact that a video in that exact style is the first real vid on this channel is a really good sign and yall really get the content people came to you for in the first place
Miata build was SO much fun. Hope they keep that vibe for a long time
32 minutes of non sponsored, uninterrupted, pure engine building bliss. So happy you guys left and so happy for you for re-finding the thing you enjoy!
I really recommend YT Premium.
@@bri-manhunter2654 Also have it for 3 years now. I kept getting commercials about funerals whilst my father was very ill. Seemed a bit rude to me...
@@bri-manhunter2654 how does RUclips premium something that I have by the way, I have to do with non-sponsored and uninterrupted content?
RUclipsrs for well over five years now having Inc. commercials into actual videos without timestamps.
I’m honestly fine if it’s sponsored and has like 3 ads in it. Can’t make the same content if they make no money from it and old donut also had sponsors for their videos.
I like the style of this video though. No list bait about ranking other people’s cars based on looking at them or Amazon products that cost $10.
@@bri-manhunter2654YT premium doesn’t exempt you from sponsor segments, just ads. These guys are definitely going to take sponsorships and I don’t blame them one bit for it. RUclips doesn’t pay creators much at all and keeps lowering what they pay. Sponsors are really the only way a large RUclips channel can flourish as a business.
this is better than therapy

I adore the garage's healthy atmosphere. Dog barking, random person strolling by, and the camera guy sneezing. I believe this channel has a bright future.
This is one of the best car videos I've seen in a very long time! :)
This rings true to the DIY spirit and method. Effort, time, and having to know what you're doing - not just handing it off to a shop to do everything for you.
I cannot wait for the next video to come out! I want to see that beast doing its thing!
It’s insane how the writing transitions so much. Zach and Jerry really did way more than they let on. Their influence shows
I appreciate the simple editing. No flash-bang meme clip nonsense. Just a couple friends with good on-camera chemistry having a genuine time working on an exciting yet humble (for modern youtube standards) project.
Keep it going, guys!
I think their visit to Australia meeting the MCM lads gave them some ideas :D
These edits are no different than money pit 😂 relax

As long as there are no keeps ads Im happy
I haven’t watched a build video like this in ages because the way everyone does it now is not appealing anymore. I just watched this video fully through without even realizing and enjoyed it. Glad to see these guys going back to the roots of what it’s about.
Love you two getting back to the basics, in a home garage, with NORMAL tools we all have or can afford. Great format and chemistry too! Keep it up gents

You've got a solid fanbase here that will stick with you guys.
An uninterrupted 32 minutes of pure engine-building joy, free of sponsorship. I'm glad you two went and I'm glad you found something you want to do again!
The fact this is number 6 on trending shows how much everyone loves these guys. Met both of them at SEMA and they were so genuine and engaging with everyone
This is the level of depth I'm looking for when looking for some automotive entertainment. Not a full-on tutorial that would be 20+ hours, an overview of the build process, the neat tools involved, explanations of what you're looking for and why things are being changed. I really appreciate this level of detail because I know how long this took and how relatively short this video is.
I was going to say I want a little bit more. They did a ton in this video and I worry about them running out of content.
Maybe not 6month build series, but I would have watched another 30min video about this engine build for sure.
I imagine they pitched this idea a couple times and were probably told that it wasnt a good idea. A quick glance at the comments indicate that it was a very good idea.
I agree this video makes me feel like all i have to do is get the right tooling and maybe i can do the engine work on my VG30ET. Time to yank that bad boi out!
vice grip puts out a 3 hour video, next thing you know it's over, really depends on the host. i cant sit through a 90 minute movie, but Derek is always on his game.
@@doctorb.5893 To me Vice Grips is more like automotive ASMR/white noise; put it on a secondary monitor, do something else, listen to the funny Derek-isms, place bets on when he'll get to the brakes, very possibly fall asleep.
I never comment on youtube videos but I had to say PLEASE keep making content like this. I love that you took time to teach skills like how to read mics and feeler gauges, and other basic stuff that new gear heads need to know to be good. Also great that you show how someone can do this in their garage with the right tools. I'm obsessed with this channel now.
Jerry has no idea how a project car works. IT'S NEVER DONE.
you get it running with everything you have and save up for the big boy parts. so you can actually enjoy it. otherwise it'll just sit while you wait for parts or funds.
can't wait to see Jobe rip that S14. it's going to be GLORIOUS.

I like how this show makes this kind of work accessible. Many of us have done this kind of work in our own shops. I've grown tired of automotive shows showing the installation of parts that cost half my annual salary and they just carry on with it like just anyone can do it. This show is just regular guys doing car stuff. This is awesome!
