Happy Holidays from the JYD family to you and yours!
I wish I can join you because I love cars and trucks
I believe the US Space Pen vs Russian pencil argument was because flecks of pencil lead would break off and could damage sensitive equipment.
Mary Christmas
Junkyard digs can you make a video on the little minibike🤩
Happy holidays to you and Mook
You have taught me to appreciate channels that don't just throw money at projects.
I think JYDs new motto should be "Don't throw money at your project, throw some brake clean"
they do they dont show it.
@@Lemonhead8890 I mean, they do, they say they got this part or that part, just dont say the price, which... is probably a lot for these old cars. but they also try and fix stuff as much as possible, if a carb can be rebuilt, they rebuild it, they only buy if its needed
Those parts and engines they put in those cars aren't free. 😏
That S-10 is my favorite revival so far. Don't know why but, something about that little truck speaks to my soul. Love it. Hope to see more of it. She cleaned up nice too. Good solid little truck.
I feel like the original owners spirit is all over that place and that truck.
Couldn't agree more. That thing wanted to get to work again.
What a find!! Old timer was surely a car guy by all the cars/trucks model cars etc, could tell he was also a hard working man that took care of his fam. with all the tractors, working equip. bless his soul, btw, seems he like the bowtie mostly, 😂
Here for the first time for the S10
I drove an '88 S-10 Tahoe Single Cab Long Bed w/ a 2.8V6 all through high school. Miss that little truck dearly. Had nearly 280k on original engine and trans when I let it go. This one make me all nostalgic!
It's hilarious how the S-10 ran increasingly better after every backfire! Give 'er the ol eye'talian tune up!
Backfires were probably from a few of the valve springs sticking from not being turned over for so long, a lil bit of oil pumped up top end built 'em back up and she started firing on all cylinders, nice lil truck!!..
Just had to get everything lubed back up in the motor and carb get the air out of the system
That's basically any older American made vehicle in my experience, just give it the beans and she'll sort herself out 😂
Some berryman down the yap?
@danteinouye6098 I love how everyone is bring @vicegripgarage's sayings and stuff up in here
This is like some post apocalypse vlog where the internet still exists where its just some dudes in the wasteland vibing. Love this format!
It’s like the first mad Max movie but with internet
6:08 I heard that story and thought that it seemed silly too until my uncle who works at Lockheed Martin on Satellites explained that it made complete sense because using the graphite of a pencil was dangerous in space because if the pencil tip broke off or the dust accumulated on the instruments it was conductive and could cause a short and a fire. Fire is really dangerous in 0g and particles like that are difficult to contain.
I literally spent 10 years wondering why they would do that, and now I know!
NASA didn't spend any money on them, they were developed by Fisher and given to the government for very cheap.
@@maximilianmorse9697 Yeah that's the most common misconception about the story, the people at NASA weren't idiots lol it was a pretty easy conclusion.
An ordinary ball point works in space because it works on air pressure not gravity the ball drags ink out which creates low pressure at the ball end of the ink tube. The fisher space pen was as much of a marketing scam as space watches and astronaut corvettes.
@@elanman608 they actually work because of contact wetting angles and tension created because, but that can also lead to the ink leaking out the back of the ink tube, the other thing fisher did was to make sure the pens worked under extreme temperatures too
How does a place get this far gone without the family stepping in? This is insane! I would be lost, overwhelmed and excited about sorting and cleaning and restoring all that could be restored and or sold
most likely old guy with family far away probably
generation after generation less returning from the cities, the convenience of cities is to enticing
the family didn't want to intervene they were part of it or the guy disconnect himself from the family
Not everyone likes cars and this guy was definitely a hoarder. It was mentioned in another video that the house is a disaster. If I had to guess, the old man ran the family off if they tried to intervene and passed away doing what he enjoyed; which seems to be collecting cars and buying stuff. There is a lot of junk, but there's also a lot of stuff people will pay surprising amounts of money for. Selling it all in a reasonable time frame is the hardest part.
@simpledj509chromo7 exactly. My dad is a car guy, has like 3 classic dodge chargers just sitting in our backyard and a whole bunch of rusted car parts. He is definitely a hoarder and if we try and talk to him about it or touch his things he gets very angry. We just learned to leave it alone.
The Americans spent a million dollars on a pen that can write in space. The Russians spent a million dollars sending extra air filters up.
Good point, the Russians are not as cool as us. 😂😂😂
Buy a pencil wear a face mask
@@markbliss1311you see thats not the issue. Graphite dust/wood shavings are something you dont want floating around in a zero gravity environment filled with electronics. Thats a fire hazard waiting to happen.
Holy moly, that s10 cleaned up so good! That would be such an easy restoration for anyone to do! Would love to see it fully done!
There's unfortuneatly bondo on most of cars there but the s-10 would probably be an easier restoration project but theres still bondo....if i would own this truck..... i would keep the accessories on it...because thats probably what the owner would want....even though it's kinda ugly.....it 7.5 out 10.....look i was born in 2004 ok....im the type of guy that like my cars at the bare factory look like im not going to put airbags on 1974 f-250...like no...absolutely not....but if it would be restored with the truck accessories then it would probably look amazing....even though i dont know what year it is....sorry for the ruttery....im a car guy...i've been one since i was 13.....im 17 now.
I was not born into a mechanic family i've been teaching myself for 5 years how to work on cars by watching youtube.....anyways i think the S-10...is a 1982-84 model year...it's not really easy to tell if amount of truck accessories on it.
@@coleflatt4039Your texting style is insufferable.
@coleflatt4039 judging by the dash and the 3 piece grill, I'd put it at an 85 to 86. The 82 to 84 had a round speedometer fuel gague that were roughly the same size and two round gagues for volts and oil pressure. Also this was a fuel injected 2.8L V6 which came about 85. My first vehicle was an 83 S-10 Durango that had a 2.8L carburated engine and a 4 speed automatic. I will say now, that was the absolute worst carburetor ever to get tuned right
I love the Kevin/Angus dynamic. You two play so well off each other. Throw in Mooks chaos gremlin energy, and you 3 are my favorite creators hands-down.
It is so amazing that every buick 3800 started with one crank, those things are unstoppable!!!!!
Even the one with the bad head gasket.
My dad's still driving around in his 1998 Buick LeSabre with a 3.8 got himself a brand new caddy but his daily driver is that Buick still runs still runs great
Hell yeah. I didnt even know those were considered classics, and look so normal to me, everyone here in South Carolina still drives theres..same thing with the squarebody S10’s!
@@EvilTurkeySlices perhaps it was the lower intake manifold gasket. They show the similar symptoms, but the LIM is super easy to replace. Besides, they rarely have a blown head gasket.
@@mkilic10I agree 100% the intake gaskets are a known problem child. Other then them they run for ever!
I love how every single pickup clearly belonged to the old man. Every single one. The decals and extra addons. Guy knew what he liked. And you know, that truck looks pretty good after a wash!
It was really cool how you guys helped clean up and helped identify stuff on the cars that you didn’t take. Bet the family really appreciated you guys!
The concept of doing revivals as an overnight field trip is exquisite! Love the content. I reckon you tagging along with Angus really keeps a dynamic, Angus is funny as well without overdoing. Lil' brother the cameraman makes everything "live" and assures that good mechanical work can be combined with good footage. 👍Keep doing these as a team! I love it! Merry Christmas from dark and snowy Sweden🎅.
That is a very clean old s-10
Yo i love your vids
There's about 2 generations of "Fuck it, I want a beer." at that ranch.
Honestly I hated the hubcaps at first. But, when you take into consideration how fitting the are with all the rest of the stuff on the truck, they actually make perfect sense. The thing that would separate it from others like it. Bonuses is they look straight out of Back to the Future!
looks like marty’s truck konda
You should really keep this, this is the cleanest long bed chevy s10 ever
I died a little inside at 27:06 when he said “It’s older than me” 😆
This is the best thing Ive ever seen on youtube. Y'all turning trash into ...someone's treasure...is giving me LIFE.
I dont know shit about cars that I haven't learned from google or youtube or working on my own car over the years but I found this channel and Iv found myself binge watching this channel for the last like 3 days and I enjoy watching this people fuck around, have fun, and that's what really matters.
You managed to prove that all the so called “unreliable fuel injected, computer controlled junk”suffered the least from sitting for a long time. Charged battery, splash a little fresh fuel in, start it up, drive it to town. 👍 Looked like great fun!
thats why fuel injection is better. starts right up everytime
I used to be a diehard carb fan and told many people how they were superior due to the lack of relying on a computer but for years I've told those same people that I was wrong. Fuel injection all the way
@@haydona1845 carbs do NOT work in cold weather. ever tried starting a lawnmower in ice cold weather?
@@jackmagnium6115 OH yea....I've been there. I was a good bit younger when I said that claim
@@haydona1845 I really have nothing against carbs and points, but I am old enough to have lived with them on daily drivers back in the late 70’s and 80’s. Modern EFI is so much easier to live with. Ya just need to learn how to deal with it.👍
Dude! What an absolutely epic story, barely begun the video and already smiling. What a freaking experience you all stumbled into! Merry Christmas to you all and the JYD family!
Imagine how the old man that used to live there and love those cars must feel looking down on it all. Especially after the place was ransacked by thieves.

Wishing you guys a late Happy New Year! I finally got the time to watch the rest of the "Farm Revival Series" and I really enjoyed them all. That old S10 turned out to be the perfect, reliable parts hauler. This place is really amazing! Looking forward to see more of these cars revived in spring, maybe even some of the older ones? There are some sleeping beauties from the 50s and 60s on this property for sure!
I have the same S10! Its a '93 and it runs super good and only has 100k miles
That S-10 is a solid survivor, and responded well to the "usual" revival efforts, I can see why you made a video just for that truck. And I'm perfectly happy to get a half-arsed, spur of the moment revival video from you guys.
My younger brother Joe loved the fact that he could help you guys out. Awesome that you even gave him a shout out. Hope you have a great holiday season.
Joe is the goat.
That's the nicest S10 that I've ever seen. My stepdad had one in the 90's that already had rust on it. You can tell that guy really loved his vehicles.
Well, my first time joining UTG live. I like the way that your wife is also there to maintain the conversation, as well as mixing it with the comments. I also love that you both let eachother speak without cutting yourselves off! And finally, I always thought that UTG live was about cars only; this turned out way more interresting than I first anticipated!!!
Seeing the little S10 that could get cleaned off was such a wonderful metaphor for the season. Even if we've been sitting around we can still shed the dirt and get back up and moving. Thank you for your channel, happy holidays to you and yours.
This has to be the greatest Empire of Dirt ever assembled. It may currently be a mess, but if you can look past that, it's glorious.
Awesome video watching y'all wrench and help this family out. I'm sure the last thing they want to deal with is all these non-running vehicles. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for bringing us on your journey Kevin and Angus on this one very entertaining Merry Christmas Kevin and all @Junkyard Digs
Yes, correct decision to remove the hubcaps~~ The whole look of a car can be ruined by just how the wheels look, and those caps did drag down the car at least 5 points.
Lol, are we just gonna ignore the big rig bumper setup, the visor, the mudflaps, and the 5000 trucker lights?
@@ChrsGuit I don't know about you, but I though the hubcaps looked better. If it had none of the big rig stuff, then I would say no hubcaps.
Those “rallye” wheels actually looked quite nice on those if they still had the center caps. Learned to drive on an ‘85 with the 2.5 4cyl
@@ChrsGuit corny for sure, but I like it
@@captainevenslower4400 Old dudes are on a whole other level of DGAF
I bet the old trucker that owned those was trying to help you all by stockpiling all that cool stuff! He supplied everything but fresh gas & cat converters!!! He did seem to have a fetish for cheap steering wheel covers & sunglasses though. I am loving this farm revival series more than you could know!!!
Those are some sweet rides & I'm very happy to hear your bringing home atleast the s10! She is awesome Kevin 👌 glad to see them saved
Kevin u and Angus have been so good on the farm fixing cars. Job well done 😂
I have to say this is the best episode yet. The interaction between you, Angus and your brother was hilarious. Merry Christmas to you guys.
I would have a blast doing what y’all are lucky enough to do as a job. And the fact that you are from Iowa and reviving vehicles near Sigourney is even cooler. Thank y’all for keeping me entertained. Keep up the great work!
The happiest of holidays to all of you. Keep bringing us these great videos.
6:08 It was over $1m and 10 years to develop the pen that’s useable in space. The problem with pencils is when they brake the graphite and wood chips go everywhere and they need to be sharpened. the broken graphite will damage their water filtration system, is a fire hazard and will cause other problems. Also nasa didnt design it some guy did
Kevin, you had such a awesome idea for this video series. Revive a camper, drive to abandoned cars, revive one and use it for thenparts getter than revive as many as possible. Dude, you are awesome. Epic videos
Kevin is a automotive archeologist. His digs are the best.
Cant believe the amount of golden cars just sitting there not being used what a collection.
Most maybe rusted and non runners but what a gold mine for car restores like you .
Really enjoy your videos keep up the good work @junkyarddigs
What a great truck! Another one saved 😊😊
Someday, when i get my own house somewhere quiet, i'll do stuff like this. I absolutely love this channel, keep it going
Let's just go do it man
@@antkoz6370 i work in a dealership rn, i’m getting decent money, i pile that up so i can make a down payment on a place soon enough
park a bunch of cars everywhere like the texas chainsaw massacre house?
@@thelaughingman79 Perhaps. Jk, i mean i’d go around the place, find old ass cars and make em road worthy again, just like Kevin does
Re: the space pencil thing at 6:10. Apparently, both the US and Russia used to use pencils, which is a problem because the lead (which isn't lead but graphite) is conductive, and you do not want conductive particles from writing floating in the air. That's why the super expensive space pencil was developed.
You are correct. Thanks for pointing that out. Most people never actually research anything and just blindly believe some meme they read.
Also it nots would accidently be smudged, wiped off, or fade during operations, travel, use, etc to the point it wasn't readable the same way it would happen to notes you write in pencil in school especially if you were left handed
dammit I just wasted time typing this same comment, missed it by 5 minutes lol. Yeah my uncle explained this to me. He works at Lockheed Martin and said that he hears that one all the time.
Makes sense now! I think I still would have went with crayons tho🤔
@@JunkyardDigs funny that you say crayons, because the United States Air Force uses grease pencils, which is similar. I'm sure they may have been used as well. I know there is some people commenting that the United States and Russia at one time to use pencils, this is highly doubtful. For the reasons other people have already commented.
Seeing the Blue buick made me happy. My first car was an 89 Electra. Very similar to that blue just white with a canvas top and "leather" seats. Definitely could have used some thumb tacks 🤣
I need a friend like Angus, a comedic genius!
I haven't seen this many bug deflectors even in the 80's. Crazy.
This place has everything you need. Tools, parts, etc. Finding anything is the real challenge. Love the stash of old Iron 😍.
How have I not seen this episode for 5 whole months?! I had my eye on that S10 since your first visit to the farm. Those 2.8L are literally bulletproof. Trust me I KNOW! 🔥🔥😎 Hope to see more of IT and the farm cars in the future!
I LOVE those old S10s. That thing has me drooling over it. Badass truck.
My 93 Sonoma has been the best truck I’ve had. It’s never let me down in any situation.
No cats just a glass pack.
This video got me in the heart. My first car was A 1991 Buick Park Ave just like the one you started up and started to smoke really bad. When I was 16 back in 2007, me and my dad revived it out of my Grandpas back yard. (Rip grandpa) I’ll never forget seeing him walk out of his house with the keys in one hand, and a fresh battery in the other. He told me, “if it fires up it’s yours”
What an awesome experience it must be, every door you open has some old car waiting to be fired up behind it.
I LOVE this sort of thing.
Just recently I had the chance to try my luck at firing up an old 7.3 diesel that has been sitting in an old barn for a long time. (My very own revival attempt)
Getting it to fire up after some small things done was finally a feeling I’ve been wanting to have again for a really long time.
Getting to see you guys experience that with every one of these cars is so cool.
Thanks JYD. Your keeping me smiling.
Dude, I freekin love this group of videos. I have a property cleanout business so i love seeing this kind of content. I would be in my flipping glory to find a hoard of that magnitude...
Merry Christmas to you and the gang thanks for the videos we all really appreciate what you do thanks Kevin and MOOK hecker
Great vid! But I gotta mention… “lid flip” is a terrible idea on a fuel injected car! Inlet air temperature and air flow are part of what the ECU needs to make the engine run properly…
But it still looks cool 😂
LOL - I see at 30:00 it magically starts running better… and I also see the lid is back on properly 😁
The lid flip is classic for tbi motors
I had a 2.8 s10 just like this one. Did the lid flip for years, my baby always purred. Never a problem with engine running or mpgs.
No, I’m an idiot. The MAP sensor passes through a hole in the side of the air cleaner, but that’s strictly for mounting - it gets its data from a vacuum line. So… about the only thing a flip would affect is warmup time.
But I’m betting there’s a TBI out there somewhere that relies on airflow in the air cleaner, so I’m sticking with “don’t do it, kids!” 😛
I am still totally in love with the S10. I had a rusted out 87' S15 Jimmy when I was in my 20s and often miss it.
Merry Christmas Kevin and Mook from my family to yours And Happy New Years @Junkyard Digs
"Now she's running, she just needed to burst into flames!" 🤣
Boys , you were the most entertainment that I have had in a long time ! Love your outlook on reviving garage finds I find myself freakishly jealous ,keep up the good honest work !
I have a fondness for those old Buicks so I’d love to see you get that one revived. Seems to be a cool car.
Love that S-10, that is the best vehicle there. I think I would still try to fix that exhaust with maybe a flex tube for a temp exhaust. I know you said it was cut up, but cut the bad part out and put a muffler in it.
I think it be awesome to be out at that farm exploring & doing revivals with you all
Thanks for the early Christmas present Kevin and company!
Merry Christmas to you, the Mook and the rest of the team.
I laughed my ass of when he sprayed engine degreaser in the carb🤣 well now the engine is clean inside:)
I love the sound of the black s10 running!😁
Definitely love the extra element of shenanigans Angus adds to the channel
Man. You can really feel the energy of the old man.. he's certainly leading you guys to all the right parts and tools at all the right times. Must've been hell for him to see the dope heads stealing all the cats and ransaking the place... then comes y'all. Bringing all the vehicles he loved back to life ❤ just like he did.
Around here it's shady scrappers ripping off the cats....
Hopefully other people who have been left with a loved ones old car collection and are overwhelmed with what to do with it will see this.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year. Great fun. 👍
This was a great video! Im glad you put it for us to watch. It was fun!
First off merry Christmas to you,Mook and the rest of the JYD crew.
The Russian space pencil story. Bit of an urban legend. Pilot Pen did the R&D so the only cost to NASA was for the pens themselves. Primarily the reason for the pen over pencil is after the Apollo 1 fire several steps were taken to prevent any possible ignition sources primarily dumping the pure O2 cabin life support but in the case of the pencil concern was the graphite and graphite dust and bits from writing or sharpening coming to rest in electrical switches and components. Graphite while not all that flammable is conductive and concern was graphite bits in zero G coming to rest in an electrical connection and causing a potential fire starting electrical spark.
What to wish y'all a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Years, makes me feel good to see there's actually more people than a few that do what we do with these ole vehicles
I have a 89' S10 v6 4.3 L 4x4. long bed. bought it from a neighbor . still working on it, it runs great! Love these trucks.. Great video, I really enjoyed it.

I'll buy the S10 when you're done with it. Merry Christmas ⛄🎄 to the JYD Crew
Merry Christmas, Kevin and gang. I love this series. I wish I was with you to explore all the "junk"!
Those S10/S15's were built rock solid. I drove a 1984 for 13 years with a SB Chev under the hood. It had over 430 000 kms on it before the body rusted away.
So cute thankyou for all your time sharing this!
Thanks for the Christmas miracle of another JYD video! Helping us all get through the holidays~! Merry Christmas JYD Extended Family! :)
I hope you guys know this and I'm pretty sure you do but just incase you don't... Automatic transmissions do not pump fluid in park so, If you have a vehicle that has been sitting a while i highly recommend before you try and move it forward or backwards just pop it into neutral and pump fluid throughout the trans and converter before attempting to move it. Merry New Years and Happy Christmas ✌
are you sure about that
@@aslant9246 Well, Technically any time the converter is spinning it's turning the pump. I've been doing ''revivals'' since the mid 80's because my father was always dragging old dodge trucks home. We also owned a body shop and flipped lot's of vehicles and i now run my own shop as a private dealer of classic and specialty vehicles. Anyway, my point is anytime I've tried moving a vehicle that has been sitting i pop it into N give it a couple stabs on the skinny pedal to build line pressure without stressing the clutches and it has helped out
Lol cool I watched the camper revival and wondered why you guys didn't show the S10 started an running! I'm glad u decided to make it its own episode. Those full louvres on the rear window remind me of a time when we all wanted those (or curtains) ok Ima watch this now. Liked & subscribed!

ITS AWESOME!!!!👍👍👍 Along with the adventure!!! Sounds awesome💯✌
That Park Avenue that’s burning coolant is most likely a bad intake. Those 3.8 intakes are plastic and they have an extremely high failure rate. I’ve done many. Other than that those engines are indestructible.
When my parents were shopping for a new car in 1992 they were pretty set on getting a Buick. They ended up with a Century Special with crank windows but power locks, four cylinder engine (Iron Duke with a cartridge filter in the CENTER of the OIL PAN). But I liked the LeSabre in the showroom better. It was green on tan like the one that had no cat. Of course it was priced a few grand higher than the 4-banger Century, but it would have been the better car for sure. I think they gave it to my sister who got a couple more years out of it before it wasn't worth fixing.
92 was the last year for the iron intake on the Buicks i had one with the 3.8 fun car
Awesome as always, love seeing more of the Wacker on the channel.

This was one of the greatest videos you've made ! Happy Holidays to you Kevin and to your family and for the rest of your subscribers! Greetings from Romania!!
happy holidays JYD crew! I'm very excited about the series it looks like there's endless stuff on that property to work on. Do some more cars! I love all the old trucks you do and how much history theyve got, however all these cars may be junk for you but unique for me (even the crapy malaise era boxes). Where I come from (and hopefully a lot of your viewers) is so far away from that American culture that every single thing is like a window to your reality. There's so many trucks around and I understand that each of them has countless different combinations of drivetrains, power outputs, trim levels and so on, but after all theyre just spanning through 3 or 4 generations of different gm/ford trucks. Now they are amazing, but most of the cars in that barn I have never even seen and don't even recognize. Give more love to these post-muscle and regular classic cars in general I think theyre very underexposed today and can be very intriguing. I've watched every video throughout the years (since the 1st) and I'll keep watching. Thanks for the great content in those years and I hope I can do the stuff you do one day. btw this video idea with the camper is amazing do more extreme random stuff like that in the future.
What a hell of a chance to go rummaging around a place like this. Keep em coming
