The “end all be all “ to unstick a motor is to pull the heads, get some animal shavings from the pet shop soak them in diesel pack the cylinders and light each cylinder on fire. The heat will expand the cylinders breaking the piston’s free. If this still gives you trouble reinstall the heads reusing the old gasket and just tighten them down, no need to torque next take an old spark plug from the motor get all the porcelain and the center electrode out. Next braze a grease fitting to the plug -what’s left of it. Install that into a plug hole and start pumping in grease, the pressure from the grease filling the cylinder with the head on will break the pistons free
I'd cut the floor out of the Blazer to get to the belhousing bolts, pull that engine and Do a Sweet Small Block Rebuild for us!!! I'd love to see you go through that and get it ripping nicely again! guarantee you can find a blazer, or a square body cab to stick on it if the frames not bent
I really can't believe how easily that boat fired up and how well it ran, especially after finding the engine crankcase filled with water...not to mention how good it sounds.
I miss my blazer. It was one of those 80s military ones with the 6.2l detroit diesel . Ahhhh I loved that thing to death. It wasn't fast, but man it went everywhere. Eventually I rolled it when a brake line swolled up internally and didn't let fluid back out one side when I hit the brakes hard. Rolled it down a hill and landed on the wheels. It drove home after that (without brakes). Had to sell it to get another car so I could go to college. Biggest mistake ever, because shortly afterwards I found a guy selling a preem k5 blazer body on craigslist for 500 bucks. Man I feel so bad about that! Wound up driving a 71 Valiant with a slant six throughout college. Still have it to this day.
I appreciate the comment about getting old "clunker" cars operational with basic tools. Earlier today, I saw a poor family driving around in a car that had no window glass on it other than the front windscreen. The windows were missing, not rolled down. It rains every day here in Florida and that family probably uses plastic tarps to keep the water out. New glass is out of their price range. Automobiles are essential to get to work around here. Doing whatever it takes to keep what may be that one car running is essential for survival.
When Kevin was mentioning needing engines I was picturing someone trying to sell him one from Vermont AND THEN HE SAID IT LOL In all seriousness if you guys ever traveled up let us know! We love your channel & watching you rebuild anything & everything is awesome. We're practically V2 California with the inspection laws we deal with up here so it's nice being able to see a bunch of restoration & other cool stuff you really can't see anywhere else. Thanks Kevin & Mook for staying awesome! Go Junkyard Digs!!
I'm just going to say it, that Blazer is rougher than a stucco bathtub. The fact that you tried to do anything with it is amazing. I can't believe is flooded past a roof and it rolled off the trailer that good.
Would be neat to see that blazer back on the road with a different everything but frame, grill and wheels, those slots are nice! Since the body's junk anyways, why not hit the floor around the bell housing with a cutoff wheel? Also that boat sounds bad ass!
Been such a longtime fan and so excited every time you guys get out an amazing video like this! You were the inspiration for me getting an old 59 F100 running for the first time in years, and next up is a 69 nova! Thanks for the information, the education, and most importantly the laughs!
Ok, one more...I can totally related to the "no shop" protocol. We did most of our main wrenching (in high school) in my friend Paul's front yard...had the perfect oak tree for pulling motors and always nice shade. For an added bonus, Paul's Mom would bring "cold snacks" out to us! To show our gratitude, we always kept the yard clean for her...good fun back in the early 70s!
This is what a LOVE about your content since YEARS ! You do what nearly every one can do even, on a budget ! And I really like your style and energy with Mook and your friends 😉 Always a REALLY good show, fun to watch and relax ! 😁 a TON of THANKS from France 😁 Please ... "ENCORE" ! 😉
The fact the boat started up and the horn worked made me very happy. The fork skills working those huge bends out the top of the Blazer was pretty awesome work, all things considered.
Excellent opportunity to try my “unstuckerlater” (you can add a # if you modify the design. Assume the started is dead. Disassemble weld the bendix so it turns in both directions. Cut the armature shaft and weld a socket to it. Now mound it and have a gear reduction on the flywheel. If there is clearance you might get a big breaker bat. But any ratchets will given the same leverage as what you had but with gears.
Sad about the Blazer. I wonder about the diffs and X-fer case, too. Hopefully your buddy will have more to work with than just a painted frame! Fun Video, Kevin!
After seeing this, now I understand why all the old guys would put marine motors in there trucks when I was a kid. I always thought it was weird when I was a kid, but getting a stock 350 with 260 hp makes perfect sense
Other than being flooded to the roof, the body being as rusted out underneath as it was saved that thing! I bed with enough care and a new body (not as hard to find as a true frame especially a k) that thing would come back to life! edit: Hey Mortske has a tool that goes on the flywheel or flex plate, it grabs the teeth and has a handle thing on it, anyway it gives a better grab on it and makes it even easier to free stuck motors.. may be worth checking out! Nice to keep in the backup toolbox
The new boat sounds bad ass. I always look forward to your new videos. Have you guys thought about making your own Junkyard Go karts? You get enough you can have a Go kart grand prix. That could be a lot of fun
TGIF! I usually work from home Fridays and look forward to post afternoon meeting unwinding with new Junkyard Digs content. Keep it up! Also more orange cat cameos pls :)
I have really enjoyed your videos! I've noticed you clean a lot of points and just a quick tip, an emery board is a perfect tool for doing that. I learned that from watching Matt on Diesel Creek.
The forklift fix was amazing! I support the reverse Whistlin' Diesel! Speaking of diesel, because the K5 is just going to be sitting now for a long time, can the block be filled with diesel or marvel mystery oil and left to set for weeks to months to see if that will help?
always great to see a video of yours to pop up in the notifications especially when its funny to see you do crazy things, who needs fancy tools when you got a deere. that made me laugh to see how well that worked.
I wonder if one of those oil pump primers would be a good tool to have when they’re seized, I’ve seen them on a bunch of auto parts stores for cheap and you could use it before turning it over. I know it wouldn’t have helped this one but maybe on a marginal one? Also, the careful bodywork with the bobcat was amazing. Peak metalwork!😂
Usually the problem with stuck motors is that the rings seize to the side of the cylinder walls. Priming the oil system isn't going to help that problem. That's why they fill the cylinders with ATF or similar-to try to break up the rust on the rings.
@@channell11 You’re definitely right. Although in engines with flood damage, I bet there’s a chance getting oil through the bearings would help. Then all you have to really worry about is piston walls!
Junkyard Digs always has either a great or the worst timing with uploads lol. Lucky me, its late, im having a few beers and i want to stay up late, perfect. Cheers guys, your channel is one of those i can never stop watching, ever since that F250 revival, you guys not only substituted by Roadkill addiction, you went above and beyond, introduced me to a bunch of other people doing their revivals and i cant believe its been that long.
I still really loved this video even though the K5 didn’t end up surviving. Rest in Pieces. I grew up on the Gulf Coast and I share your love of marine motors. They always sound sick… in the positive sense.
Oh my God dude I was really scared you was gonna scratch the paint😜👀the little offlload from the trailer was pretty sweet I like that I had to watch that about five times

@JunkyardDigs now that you say the engine is scrap, you can fill it with vinegar for a week and see if that helps, it doesn't hurt to see if it works if it's still scrap
Leave it to Kevin to get an engine running in a video. Never fails to amaze everyone. Good to see Mook in your video as well. To bad about the Blazer hopefully you can get a body for it and get the motor unseized. Looks like it might have potential.
Kevin sir, I think if you delve deeper into the Blazer you will get the motor to free up and fire off. If it were me, I would’ve been pulling that whole body off first before touching the motor. It’s trashed anyway. That would’ve given you the room you needed to try and free it up better. Don’t give up on it. You’ll make some coin on her if a body presents itself and you get her running. I've branched off and started watched a few of the guys he's collabed with everyone of them is great!
You can get one of those Vacuum pumps from Harbor Freight. We do all the boat motors that way. They cost about a hundo. Glad that motor fired up nice. I hope you get her on the water too.

That suspiciously accurate usage of the forklift was pure gold! 😂
Instead of Body by Fisher it's Body by Deere
Precision Engineering at its best
Now THAT'S the proper way to do body work. I think Kevin may have a future doing custom body work!
That's a skidsteer

Sawzall and a skinny death wheel. Open that oil pan like it's a can of sardines!

Ironic choice of wording on this video 😂😂
Yea, and this episode really put the seize in seizure
😂 well one 350 seized to amaze anyone on running 💁♂️😅😂
Hehe... I seize what you did there.
Best comment ever🤣🤣

Her legs aren't bad either ;) Being serious though, she makes the videos worth watching which her smile and humor.

For the oil pan, take a cheap socket and grind it down with a flap disc or something. Works all the time
And then replace them with socket head cap screws so you can use a hex socket to take them off in the future.
@@pathvalleyrailroad9277 Amen 🙏
Then you have the speciality socket he was talking about!
seems like the perfect truck for Pole barn garage and the body work is already half way done!
I was thinking the same thing Dalton could have this rolling in a month. Full custom rebuild too!
With all that fiberglass in the rockets it looks like he might have done the original build 😂😂
This is one of the best episodes ever! When Mook says “ You can see it’s bent from space!” 😂……….And then you “ fix” it with a skid steer! Gold!
Nothing beats the late 90's styling. The rims, the grill, the valve covers...all of it.
Fridays are always great cuz that’s when Kevin drops a new video for us to witness calamities
I really can't believe how easily that boat fired up and how well it ran, especially after finding the engine crankcase filled with water...not to mention how good it sounds.
They make a tool for the flywheel to try and turn them when the motor is locked up. It gives you a lot more leverage. Love the videos
Mortske uses one.
This^ all day long. Having tried both with and without a flywheel tool, I can tell you that every toolbox needs one.
I'll have to look for that!

would evapo rust be a decent thing to use in this situation? I've had the thought a few times. Can't have a rust ridge if the rust is gone.
I second this. That or vinegar would be a very interesting experiment to perform on the 350.
