For really doe...this whole episode seemed like one big episode of Roadkill, except the Jag didn't have a completely and utterly clapped out tree fiddy, and they didn't attempt to put an 8-71 blower on it and WAY over carb it in stock worn out form in the parking lot of the business that's formerly known as Gotelli Speed Shop (who told Cheeseburger that he's not welcomed back).
That chump in the Porsche roadster was sooooo jealous of yer Jag, Dalton.... I could almost see his tears of inferiority! Poor bastard! And Kevin's gentle touch adjusting the distributor with his channel locks just made me marvel at his sophisticated dexterity! A wonderfully exquisite video, fellas!!!!
I'm not typically someone who comments on videos, but this was genuinely hilarious. I vote you stick a turbo on it and clean the exterior up with tractor paint - cause you're now a Jaaaaag owner. ;)
These guys tackled more mechanical adventures in a week than most gear-heads tackle in 20 years! Bravo gentlemen! You give hope to all us couch mechanics! Be it ever so humble, there's nothing like a carb!
I am in the process of "restoring" a 1973 Jaguar XJ12 that had an old smog era 350 + TH350 from a truck sloppily installed in it. The Chevy powerplant now runs pretty well with a new intake, carb, and electric waterpump but the body and interior is really rough. Seeing other Jags with American hearts motivates me to continue fixing mine. Keep up the great videos and I look forward to the next one, sir!
It started with the ranch video ended here, y'all did a lot in a short time and completed each challenge. Great stuff! Love seeing videos like these where two like minded and goofy guys meet up and do what they do. Think I can speak for everyone when I say, you two definitely need to do another one of these.
When I worked at the gm dealership back in the 90s, those Bosch injectors in those LT1 engines if you ran a high concentration of ethanol (back then, there was no standard for the ethanol concentration, you could have 10, 12, even 18% ethanol) the high ethanol concentration would strip the shellac off the injector coil windings causing the injector to short and run like crap. Also, the mass airflow sensor used a heated wire like a light bulb filament and it would break causing poor running and stalling. The test was if you rapped on the maf with a screwdriver and if it died, the maf was bad.
I don't watch this channel for automotive expertise I watch it for a flashy Hawaiian shirts and crazy comedy 😂 this was an awesome video Dalton and Kevin 👍✌️🇺🇲
Bought a Z28 with an LT in it years ago and drove from Reno to Vegas. "needed a starter". Starter was broken into 3 pieces. It hydrolocked on a cyl which explained the starter, so off to Summit to get an injector. Off to Vegas - hydro'd again. Turns out the fuel pressure regulator was shot feeding 60psi gas into the intake through the vac hose. Food for thought.
I lived in Arizona for 47 years, but moved to Washington state recently. But I know all those roads your driving. You and Kevin are a joy to watch, love the comedy👍
Ah the Dolly. It's amazing how many different makes of cars that sodding badge attached itself too, like a poisonous barnacle...not our best era, but that's half the bloody fun 🤣 @@dolomite_73
When I was 15, my dad bought a 76, xjs v12 same color, for 15,000 Canadian. That was in 87. He had it blown apart and a custum cherry gold flake paint job lovingly sprayed on. He died in 93 on the opposite side of my country, and I never knew what happened to it, (it had the awesome quad headlights too) . This video has filled me with nostalgia, thanks guys.
I am very impressed that you two were able to work on "The Jaag" in the AZ heat. I can barely walk to my mailbox without bursting into flames this time of year in Tempe. Thanks for the content!
We had one of these with the drivetrain out of a mustang gt. There were a lot of ford swapped jags around here back in the day. The old 5.0 with a 5spd made it pretty good.
These collab videos with you and Junkyard Digs are the best! The chemistry between the two of you just works and makes both of your videos that much more fun to watch. Keep them coming!!
This was a fun video you two were hilarious to listen to. I am looking forward to seeing what you have planned for the JAG. I think a turbo in the car would be a good idea
When 2 or more of you tubers get together, the comedy of errors starts! It's like no one gets an old clunker to drive a far distance without breaking down a few times at least, it's expected! Great work guys on that quick intake conversion!
Y'know, the funny thing about V8-swapped XJ12s is that the 5.3 V12 is actually not that fragile... unless it overheats, in which case it pops like a rotten grape. There's a reason why most V8 Jags come from the Southwest.
I love this car, favorite body style. That said, I’d never own one. lol. You guys are great, really like the point blank humor, real life antics and perpetual optimism. Keep it up.
This looks like the most fun ever!! I love your and kevins friendship! Thank you for letting us watch your adventures. We are all so happy to help support and encourage your bad decisions.
48:30 you adjust that t.v cable by depressing the tab and pulling the cable to the rear. Then release the tab, open the throttle wide open, and the cable will self adjust.
I'm sure this was available across the country but here in Cincinnati, you could have your choice of a small or Big Block swap. I never would have dreamed that someone would intentionally put in a fuel injected variant.
Loved the video Dalton. Personally as a Brit that original Jag 12 pot was a brilliant motor, but the 80s electronics running it were horrendous. Good shout ripping anything to do with 80s fuel injection out. I’d mop the paint a little and do some resto on that and it’ll be magnificent ❤🏴 🇬🇧
The Jag already came with a version of the TH400 in it, so the 700R4 is right at home. *edit* The HE came with a Getrag, but it was the same basic floorpan, so the GM trans out to feel at home.
I haven't laughed, like genuinely laughed as much as i have with this god damn van adventure. Kevins video of the trip nearly killed me. Keep being the goofy bastards ya are and have a safe weekend!
It always makes me wonder why carb guys will refuse to replace bad injectors for $250 (or half to get them cleaned) but won't think twice about spending $700 for a carb+intake.
This series has been very entertaining. I know I probably shouldn't, but I kinda love the JAAGGG. I think it'd be a hoot to just make it a good solid runner & just leave the cosmetics as is then put around town. Great video.
Don't forget fuel injector cleaner for your fuel system. 'cause, I don't ever trust what the previous owner told me. When it comes to maintenance roll number one. When buying used cars in less, you can prove it's been done.

That's the normal rated 5.7L Chevy engine, too, the one the Caprice, Roadmaster, and a bunch of b-body cars had, not the high-output 290 one the Covette got. (all stock, of course)
You guys are a great team and have a fun shirt collection. Fixing a car in a Hawaiian shirt is classic, then 90's Saved by the Bell style. I didn't know you could convert fuel injection to carb. SHAG-WAR !!!
