Dalton, you make some of the best videos on RUclips. I am 17, and this next month I’m gonna be buying my first project car, a 1970 Cutlass Supreme. Your (and Kevin’s) videos have taught me almost everything I know about working on cars, and 2 years ago, I could never have fathomed taking on a project car. I still know essentially nothing, but what I have learned from your videos has given me the confidence that (theoretically) it’s not as complicated as it seems. A trick an old timer taught me long ago is that if your shocks have a single bolt on top is to grab a deep well socket and an extension, make sure you have solid contact between socket and nut, and pry it back and forth til it snaps off. So many people pour in whatever oil they are familiar with, without even considering its meant for new cars specifically.
I ruined a hot rod 454 with the wrong oil. (.30 over flat tops, cam, intake, 750 demon carb, headers, ls7 style rec port heads...)
It ran excellent for about 10,000 miles And i had been using vr1 20/50.

I think you Kevin vgg and ol peg saved my life. I grew up watching dad build trucks and tractors so I took that on. I got a girlfriend that took all my time for 3 years. I did bare minimum mechanical wise. She left me in saying being a farmer isn’t a good enough job. I was broken 8 months ago. I started to watch y’all and my dad play around with stuff so I jumped back in. Long story short I rebuilt my childhood truck. Did a mechanical restoration on my 1962 Chevy I learned to drive in. Also did a complete mechanical restoration on my dads 1950 Chevy 3100 then I rebuilt the engine in a farmall tractor then bought a truck cheep got it running again did a bunch of work. Then sold it to a friend who’s using it as a daily. I needed something to look forward too at the end of the day and also something to wake up for. Mechanical work and running the family farm is that for me I learned. Also you and jd’s relationship is copy n paste of my dad and I’s relationship. Don’t let him make the mistake I did. I’m still not 100 percent over her yet but I’m a work n progress like my vehicles.
Blessings to y’all! Keep you head under a hood my friend.

Once again Dalton has shown that balls over brains is how you get the job done.
Another awesome episode featuring junkyard digs.

Amazing, it made it. Call it a break in ride. Lil tinkering , lil more patching , a bigger fuel cell, hood ipins ( for easier opening) its ready for power tour! Id keep it patena style , lil suspension work . Everyone inc kevin was skeptical, proved em all wrong. Did real good, not a drop fell ( burned , but not dropped). A good solid driver to add to the fleet. Tinker on it and take it on power tour

I have to say, I am mighty impressed. I honestly did not believe that it would get you the full 250+ miles home under its own power. That is quiet possibly the most rusted out GTO I have ever laid eyes on.

Do it, go full mad max. Everywhere there's a hole weld on an armor plate.
Like serious apocalypse build. Use all the scrap metal you can find, maybe go on a junkyard dig.
I don't see enough of those.

Meanwhile, over on the other side of The Pond, I got an 'advisory' on my MOT* that the radiator support bracket had surface rust on it and should be replaced . . . .
*MOT is a yearly inspection for UK cars over 3 years old - you can't legally drive without one.

The more heavily populated states tend to have vehicle inspection and emissions tests. The more lightly populated ones, like Iowa and Missouri, do not. Also, cars there rust like crazy due to the winter salt on the roads so seeing cars destroyed by rust is common.

And I'm a Brit ex-pat living in Berlin, Germany. Just got my 20 year old Astra through the TÜV (German bi-annual MOT) , couple of advisories but no big issues. I'll keep her as long as I can. I don't know how the hell Dalton gets away with these escapades but he does.

V@@AltTechFanMissouri has safety inspections and emissions tests. The hordes of illiterate, illegal aliens drive all kinds of vehicles in the US without a valid US drivers license, no insurance, no valid state license plates or a proper title for a vehicle.

Reminds me of my 1980 Pontiac Catalina with a 3.8... It was a quart every 80 miles but no plugs fouled and no leaks. I filled it with gear lube and drove it for 23k, without an oil change (self changing). Motor still ran, pulled it and dropped in a Buick 350 from a 76 lesabre and drove it 38k until the mounts for the rear end was gone

Dalton lighting a cigarette while fuel sloshes around in the boat tank in the back seat, with the fuel line underneath the driver's seat only protected by that steel mesh, was probably the biggest fate tempt he could have pulled. Bravo sir.

im still waiting to see the Max Jax installed in the new building. 2016 I think was the year mine arrived on a pallet dumped right in my driveway by my newly built garage. i had to borrow a hammer drill and buy the correct concrete bit for the anchors that came with it. i dont even know if ive used it enough so that its paid for itself but i still like it ....i like it a lot...Lol
