Upgrading from a second hand 80D to a new 90D next week. After looking at all the new cameras available in this price range (£1500 ish) the 90D is still far better than some of the newer mirrorless cameras.

I wanted to implement suggestion #2, (4:55) it will take some getting used to but you have some great points about why one would want to do that.
I thought for a moment that my camera menu was missing that option but then i realized i was on video shooting mode and not photo.
#6 (11:53) is super useful!! I've had so much trouble with messed up shots because of the touch screen, I wondered why the lock didn't lock it but I didn't realize that you could change the setting.
I've watched so many videos about this camera (that I own) but i've never found one where people talk about the pros and cons of using 4k in crop sensor mode vs full sensor..
Maybe I need to make one myself..

The camera is touch screen 😅 so you actually don’t have to go through all of the other settings in order to get to the one that you want but this video was actually pretty helpful
He turns the touch screen off. But you can also press the Q button to scroll through just the top menu..

I use spot AF with shutter button AF. I aim the point at the intended focus point, half-press the button, focus, hold the button down and then compose the shot, then fully depress the shutter button. It sounds slow, but it's a lot faster than using the joystick to slowly move the AF point around... I find my method gives me the most control out of all the possible options.
Very good video, detailed and clear. I have my own 90D and want to start using it for astrophotography. The bluetooth remote will come in handy.

Would you recommend this camera over the m6 mark ii?
its the same camera, one is mirrorless. 90D seems to have better battery life and more like a pro camera. I have the 90D with the battery extender, its amazing.
For me, i wouldnt. Though EF M is a good mount, optical view finder, big battery and deep grip is way more attrative to me.
Plus, the EVF on the 6 m2 is gonna cost you another 100 bucks if not mistaken..

If you are in Auto Mode you will see less menu options. Camera must be in Manual Mode. To understand Manual Mode, check out my free course at DitchAuto.com
Switching to M mode always shows me scene types.I am no longer able to adjust shutter speed and f stop.How fo I get rid of these automatic scene types.

Can’t you use a canon 90d camera set up Bluetooth you could take pictures on your iPhone?
Yes you can set up the bluetooth, connect your iPhone and take pictures with your iPhone just like a remote control.
I would definitely like to shoot some portraits and some weddings would put TV or AV Be the best and what is your Opinion on that
With portraits freezing action is unnecessary but you will want to control depth of field so use AV to keep the lens open for out of focus background to your subjects.
How do you insert the date stamp in the pictures?
hi, my 90D is taking 2+ seconds to review that captured image while shooting in raw+ jpeg and 1.7 seconds in jpeg only. Is this normal or mine one is a faulty one?

My camera does not have AI Focus. Did you update your Firmware?
AI Focus is only in live view through the back of the screen. When not in that mode, you only have two modes.
@@ditchauto Not finding Al Focus in live view. Have new firmware installed. Think it was removed due to some focusing problem if I remember correctly?

How to use the flash in canon90d sir
Do you know why the video duration is limited to 30 minutes on the 90D? I seem to be able to restart and go another 30 minutes. But ending without notice causes me to lose content. I have the camera and am happy, but this was an unpleasant surprise.
Jack on the Farm all of them do it that way. It’s limited by the camera on its own. Technically it can shoot videos over 30 minutes but then it’s considered a camcorder by law and underlies certain rules and restrictions. To prevent that, the dslr cameras start a second video after 30 minutes.
Um.... Why not just touch the screen?
(I assume you're talking about setting the joystick to choose focal points)
It's good for when you're using the viewfinder, and offers fine-tuning where sometimes touching the screen isn't necessarily reading exactly where you want.
I want this camera instead of my video Camcorder. Just have not been convinced it will work for my need
I just bought the 90D for video. Only thing I am unhappy with is the 30 minute max length of video. It will stop recording and not tell you.
@@jackonthefarm5540 Magic Lantern made possible to solve the problem by adding an option to start recording right after it stopped. Very sorry that there are no ML for Digic 8 processor cameras
I'm I the only one wondering? How does your 90d have an aperture range as low as 2.8? The minimum I can lower mine is 3.5. Do I have a fake camera?
The aperture is a feature of the lens. I had a different lens than you. It sounds like your lens has a max aperture of 3.5 where my lens had a max aperture of 2.8. To get a wider aperture, you would have to purchase a different lens.

Compressed RAW is lossless. While there may be other reasons not to use it, quality is not one of them. Good video otherwise.

Why my 90D has no Ai Focus and AI Servo? It has Manual Focus only.
Either you are not using a compatible lens or more likely you have the auto focus switch on the lens set to manual.

Twice now I've tried following the 'back button' auto focus setup by you and another channel without any luck. Please slow down and go through this step by step slowly. You started out just fine with image setup and jumped very fast like I'm a pro with this camera. All I've really done so far is upload the new firmware and taken a couple snaps in doors.
Sorry. When I over explain, people get upset in the comments. I constantly try to find a happy medium so the videos do not get too long in length.
@@ditchauto No problem, I use the shutter anyway's. I shoot mostly landscape, so no big deal, just was interested in the back button. With the old Rebel, I discovered AI Focus with Servo Motor off solved the lens hunting problems.
