Hey Eric! As a school bus driver myself, I would suggest against having one as your primary driver. While they can be durable and very custom, you do enough highway driving it would not work. They aren't made to drive much more over 55 as that is typically the legal speed limit for them. They are pretty nimble for their size, but it would be harder to park it and also get it serviced. Also, you cannot tow with them, normally, and they don't get much more MPG than your gas engine does. Anyways, keep those wheels and reels rollin!
I thought the donkey sounds were someone’s car horn or something. That was awesome 🤩. What a sweet donkey 🫏 He stole the show 😊Aloha & Happy Holidays 🎄🎅
They usually are geared for low speed and that can be changed easily
@@billstevens3727 Thats right, the top speed is held by a governor, not because it cant actually do that fast.
My parents had a real nice 35 foot Greyhound they had converted. Great rig. The ceiling was white tuck and roll. Nice orange shag rug carpet. Grey/brown wood paneling with black wood borders around the cupboards. Beautiful inside and out. In orange and brown.
At least the hippies can read without having to sound out every word in the pamphlet.
In college, I was top of my class in English actually. My English test results set the curve for the rest of the class. That's a fact. The hippies didn't even show up to class. That's also a fact.
I would think your RV is warmer than a bus 360 glass. The glass is open and lots of light for confort. Nice.
I doubt it. I bet a stock school bus is better insulated than this Tioga RV. Heat loss all over the RV.
I think a skoolie fits you, and I think it would be PERFECT. It's certainly more durable, and it would last a lifetime. It's spacious, and you can make it ANY way you need it and stop having issues with floor plans that don't work.❤
Hope you get one soon with the built out patio.
😊
Stop teasing us! Buy a bus! Build your vision! Let us see what years of experience and your vision is for the prefect rv!! 😊😊😊😊
I believe the word your trying to say is click baiting, I thought he bought a bus too, it's all the same for RUclipsrs like Eric same thing different background

@@mrbenjaminvincent you made it my problem when you responded to ME on MY comment. I didn’t read through the comments (like you did) find you and respond……. Eric thanks you again for the additional comment and the additional $$…. He will have that schoolie in no time if you keep responding on his videos! 👍🏻👍🏻
Your surprise hearing the donkey is priceless gave me such a laugh!!!! Love it
Build out a nice, covered, patio at Taterland and park your skoolie there when you get home. It'll be great.
My neighbor has Donkeys, they are so loveable, I buy a big bag of carrots from the grocery store for them, on occasion, gave them apples from my tree. One loved them, the other wouldn't touch them.
I'm not Keene on the school bus idea . We had a neighbor that gave it a try, and ended up building a house with my dad's help.
This is just typical AirBnB fru fru stuff. Looks good in the photos. The only practical thing is the RV enclosure area.
Those Dope Smoking Hippies from the 60’s & 70’s are the creators of most of the Technology you’re using TODAY. 😊
Don’t criticize others lifestyle because you find it weird …. Nomad. 😮😊
Definitely quirky but gotta have a real bathroom! Price is right for an "2-day experiment", though.
I have that same ceiling in my bus & it is NOT magnetic - I have a 5 window bluebird GAS
as for not putting the wood on the ceiling its because the insulation was good and packed in tight.-
I am sure you can turn the lights upward for lighting -- too bad you can't take a drive in it.. but do understand the BnB thing
If you do a bus refrain from putting wood on the ceiling. It adds a lot of weight and raises the center of gravity. Try vinyl plank flooring instead. Lighter and easy to install. A wide variety of wood patterns or use a stone pattern so it seems like a cave.
No, it doesn’t. I have cedar on my ceiling which weighs a ton less than the original steel ceiling on the inside. I insulated it with FSB foam board and thermal tape. It looks great and it’s way lighter than the original.
Wrong! Coming from a skoolie owner
You won’t and can’t rent a unit like that each day of the month. I’d guess 50% at best.
Interesting video but that bed would be a nightmare to change the sheets and remake, and they couldn’t feasibly rent it out every night because they would have to take at least one day in between rentals to clean. For them, the yurt would be a better set up for a rental. There’s plenty of room to add a bathroom, kitchenette, etc. I’ve always wanted to stay in a yurt. But the purpose of your visit was to test out the skoolie and that’s pretty smart.
Oh the wheels are turning, turning...so many ideas ! There are so many ideas to incorporate into a skoolie. And YES, WHY wouldn't you have a bathroom ???
The set up, for the patio, would be great at your property.
Eric, you got jipped on that "AirBNB"!! 😮 $110/night for NOTHING!! We stayed in a 5 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom HOUSE with HEATED POOL...IN Red Bluff, California for $75/night for 5 nights!! Working toilet, running water, even a washer and dryer, a full kitchen where we could...get this...COOK A MEAL! No literal 🐻😆😆😆
$110/night. Enjoy that toilet. Lol
You fit in well on the short bus🤣😂
Yes very cool bus but like you I want a bathroom for crappy weather ( yes pun intended) The face you maked when the donkey was calling for you had be laughing so hard. Enjoy your stay. Don't know what day you made this video, but today it is really chilly and pouring in Tucson.
Thanks I was going to book it when I was there in Arizona Dec 6-9, I saw that, I chickened out and booked a side apartment out in Florence AZ
A friend in AZ did a short bus remodel. The heat loss thru the windows made it unbearable in cold weather. How do you tackle that?
most well-insulated buses take out those windows replace them with the sheet metal, insulate, and then cut in where they want windows and put in RV windows, a ton of work!
Yep, you ain’t a, “hippie,” you is a, “sippie,” lol.
What an awesome place to stay. I totally hang out outside when back at home base.😊👍 oooh wow, I love that yurt. How freakin' amazing 👏
my hubby and i thought you finally bought a bus, but we still enjoyed the video. no outhouses for us though. 😂
$110/nt with a 2 night minimum for a stinky outhouse? Crazy!!
Eric....Taterland needs that outdoor kitchen!!!
The kitties would love the space to play in a bus. You could run cat walks along the sides!
I can't imagine you with a bigger rig than you already have. It all seems to work perfectly for you. I couldn't imagine taking that bus into the places you like to go.
It's only 27' long.
That's shorter than 29' Big Foot.
His previous class-C is 26'.
No sleeping in the yurt. No potty in the bus. An outhouse! My mom always poured lime in it when it started to smell. Nope that's not for me. I've come to an age in life where I want some comforts. Have fun.
I suspect they don't have a bathroom because there's no septic tank if it does not run you cannot take it to dump
Eric just get a bus and convert it. There is one for sale on 411 hwy Maryville TN. Flat nose. You will make it super nice.
Thank you for your videos. I've recently began watching you again. You have helped me get out of a depressed situation the past month when my best friend of two years passed away. Thank you for your time and videos.
I'm sorry for your loss.
@@nomadicfanatic thank you.
Composting toilets will smell if you don't have a small fan venting the odor out also you need to mix it up. Just sprinkling wood chips on your business isn't going to do anything for odor
Our composting toilet, aka bucket with saw dust, was right by the kitchen. Guests didn't even know it was there unless we told them. NO SMELL. It's just not right to leave that type of toilet to those who don't know how it's used.
You could always take the bus windows out and add actual windows that are insulated as long as they have safety glass
All I kept thinking was Tatter land needs that outdoor space.
Absolutely LOVE that outdoor space by the bus!!
Eric needs to have a space like that at Taterland..
It does do not have screens and when you open them, And it will get hot, you will have every fly in the nation come in. I tried magnetic screens and they just fly off when travelling from the inside. Good luck.
That is not a composting toilet. It looks like a pit toilet, maybe. But it’s definitely not a composting toilet.
if you make a composting toilet that has a pipe that leads to a composting pile outside then it will defnitely not smell.
The out door area at your home would be cool.
Oh man I thought you were actually moving into your Skoolie!
I would think if you wan 4 season like you said that insulated as much as possible would be needed for maximum efficiency with your heat, AC and thus your solar. I am sure you know more than I do about that stuff but that makes sense to me.
..color of that skoolie is on point ❕
Interesting B & B, but for 110. a night, it would HAVE to be equipped with a bathroom. Be safe. Have fun. Cooking outdoors is fun.
Eric you are not helping me cure this bug I have started to suffer with recently, good video!
For someone who isn’t looking for headaches i recon buying a bus will drive you nuts .. but your call ..
I gotta say Eric, I laughed my ass off watching this video. You know you're going to have to take a shit within the next two nights. Let us know how that works out. Great video!
The donkey was welcoming you to the neighborhood 😂. Question here-how does covering the bus ruin solar panels?
I kinda liked that bulb lighting, you can have that and add led strips
Eric they probably pee and poo in the same container. Thats why it smells. If you separate it, the smell is way more manageable. I know you probably know that.
I heard a lot of whining and judgment. You should have done more research on what it offered for amenities. Just show what it offers and let the viewer make their own decision. If you do too many modifications, then you "lose the charm."
I like his honesty.
That looks like a fun staycation getaway in the bus 🚌
And that yurt 😮✨️
Interesting air b n b thanks for sharing!
Thats a pretty short schoolie and look how much couch space with a table even with a real bathroom there would be no reason to not have a dedicated desk space. Seems most important for the roof is to coat it on top with Tropicool or that metal heats up in the sun
Does it look short? It's 33.5 feet. So it's not a shorty! and they say 21-30 is "mid-size." 31-40ft is "full size"
Check out the Biosphere very close .. yeah laptop is not healthy to have on your lap radiating you for hours a day. That's a cool spot 😎 Definitely buy a bus and build it out Thumbs up!
If you get the school away, park it on your land then use it as an airbnb.
6:34 That would be a great thing to have and a cozy one too🎉
I’ve been living in a skoolie for 4 years. Just moved to Arizona. Don’t buy a front engine bus for a skoolie. Don’t! Also, bus windows are terrible and the insulation is not good for living, thats a camper, not a full time skoolie
Such a cool idea!
That setup is a barnominimum concept for base camp except with engineered metal building.
Go check out Isaac Turner used to be A bus life. Isaac has renovated many skoolies and a bus. It will give you ideas of what to put in yours when you find what you want.
Yea Erick consider building a dedicated desk/office area. Oh and get a mouse for your laptop.
It's on my list!
I agree just build one already think of how perfect it would be making it your own
*Love this place!*
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sweet AirBNB….A yurt at Tator land would be cool if it could handle the winds.
How’s that little heater way up in the front going to warm up all way into the back? Lots of good ideas to use there on YOUR bus.
You’ll have to start carrying around your own little porta pot 😂
You need to make sure the no black mold in the ceiling that’s why people take it down initially
Thank you Eric for the video. Yeah that sucks no bathroom...
Have you ever Airbnb on a boat? I think that would be an awesome experience.
never have. I bet the sloshing back and fourth would bother me given my experience on that Bahamas cruise last year.
I can't imagine cooking outdoors in the 110 deg heat in the summer. u r crazy. Reel it in boy, jeeze. Go visit Blue Van Dan and check out his huge bus.
Great video thank you!
I would need a bathroom in my room, in order to sleep in it.
That is a really nice bus love the color🤗
I really really wish you would do a bus I would love to follow the build
I do not like the Skoolie. It is not even close to being weather proof. Hot weather....NO! Cold weather....NO! You would need double pain windows...NO! The four seasons RV is the correct way to go.
That was Really Cool !!!
You could use the inside roof to put all your magnets since it's metal.
Where’s the bathroom in the bus? No bathroom is a terrible design for anything on the road. I wouldn’t stay there at all
iI you are going to get a skoolie Eric, make sure it is modified to go at the speeds you are used to, otherwise you are going to be very disappointed. And make sure it has a toilet, you know like everything in the 21 century.
Re: lighting: when you have all those windows, you're sort of "on display" to the world at night, even through curtains. With too much lighting, you're basically putting on a show for voyeurs up there. I'd have some cabinets on the walls to block out some windows and super dark tint everywhere else and *then* add a bunch of lighting.
Also, "hippies" lol thats funny. I would have had to :eyeroll: after seeing that flyer too. Not my cup of tea.
That is a cool place, other than the pooper, at 110 a night, is not bad, cool place.
Your Skoolie Bus 🚌, looks very very very very Cool 😎 Eric😎😊👍
It's nice to a certain extent. I think it's set up more for commercial use the overnight stay like what you're doing. It's a good start to checking out the situation and seeing if you would be interested in something like that, I don't think so. Takes lots of work and $$ to turn a Skollie - bus into a homely RV. For something permanent, I'd consider customizing a shipping container into a liveable man cave. If you ever wanted to sell your land, it would be included in a package deal.
That place is so cool. We r hearing u r in Fla now. U do u boo. I think a big bus keep it at ur home place.
You can get all kinds of ideas from just sleeping in a schoolie for a couple nights.
I doubt they get more than 6 rentals a month. If they do, I’ll build a broken down school bus on my property.
Nice Bus!
Sorry, your hosts should have emptied that composting toilet BEFORE you got there! I have one in my house and it doesn't smell.
I think you got some great ideas for things to do & not do at base camp!
Cedar fence planks for the ceiling
Hey, what a great way to see what works, what doesn't, and what you'd change! Great video!
I styled in a converted caboose once, it had a, bathroom.
Ok Eric, you been a baaad boy! Get in the Yurt and sit in the corner.😁😆
As always, Thumbs up 👍
I hate to say it, but rain seems to follow You. Sorry about No Bathroom. I have used an Outhouse before. My Grandfather never had an indoor Bathroom.
Cool place beside the toilet.
