My name is Eric and I travel with my cats, “Tara” & “Opie” in a 24ft 2001 Ford Tioga RV named “Freeda” and tow either a 2014 Smart Car named “Tater Tot” or my 2012 Harley Softail Slim named “Black Betty” in a 6x10 trailer. We travel about 35 miles a day chasing 70 degrees year-round since 2010.

I'm glad you are having a good time. The cactus Christmas ornament is really cool. My cats love the Christmas tree. Its the only time of year they behave badly. The hard thing about schoolies is that the maintenance is pretty intense. If you were somebody who could do your own repairs, it might not be too expensive, but if you're not then it's possible it would become prohibitively expensive. I love the idea of a short bus as a schoolie, but I decided that the risk on maintenance requirements didn't work for me.

Skoolies really limit you. Boondockng yes but most campgrounds say no. If done right you can but they are usually ugly

Eric a four season Rv is a great ideal for you since with the new property you will be able to stay longer before you have to leave and you can come back earlier

I know of no RV that’s insulated well. We have a 4 season Grand Design 5th, the insulation is always a joke. The tanks and such though is a plus.
Usually, you can find used school buses for conversion in Fl .
Cheaper prices in the agricultural counties than high population counties like Orange, Lake & Osceola. 😊

I am still home based at TTO but have taken two trips to Virginia and TN this past year. No TTO booking for Jan but will be at Sothern Palms in Eustis instead. Hitting the flea mkt while up there.
Quartzsite looks like the best place to spend Thanksgiving on the road. I'm curious how you're planning your time to enjoy everything, looks like nonstop things to do.

You need a vehicle made for you! I am glad you are considering building out one. You are very detailed, I saw that when you were fixing the rotted bulkhead on Tilly and really made it look great. It would be nice if you had a RV junkyard as good as that one in Washington for any parts that you may need. Anyway I hope you find a good one for the build if you decide to go that route.

You could build a roof deck for race season. I always felt a custom rv of some sort is the best option for you. Even a moving truck can be turned into a badass home on wheels. But i love the tour bus option the most

I've had many rigs. I priced out building my own schoolie and the long term costs were a little too much. I think it would be more interesting to see what else you can do with your Tioga. I get it, though, I don't like how a 2 season limits you to the South in the winter. Cheers🍹
Taking a schoolie and building ot out could be interesting. The problem is, many RV parks will not welcome such rigs. Some parks even reject RVs over a certain age (20 years old or so). Just something to consider. Happy Thanksgiving from Albuquerque, NM - rain or snow may come here in the next 12 to 24 hours.

The thing with the school bus idea is the repair costs school buses have the same engines and vital components that big rigs have and that from my understanding is expensive to repair
I always have to run my fans all the time in my Tioga. It got hot in here today cooking was only 57 outside all windows open and fans on to stay 73 inside.

Bus is a great idea. RV suck in cold and hot weather unless you are parked for extended periods. Bus Bus Bus!!!
I've been told that if you put refectix in the inside of the cabinets it helps with insulation.
