You can’t do that. The vehicle was sold you can’t put a dealer plate on this far after it was sold. You’d have to “sell it again” by law. Unfortunately he trusted Texas which no one should do. Texas is a commie state.

As someone who had to deal with multiple states, while not being a resident as a member of the US military, I can assure you some states are worse than others and Texas, Arkansas Alabama are some of the worst. Here is a couple of suggestion. 1. Register the RV in Arizona at your ShowLow address. You can visit any DMV in Arizona for this (you don't have to go to Showlow). You could have transferred the Oregon title into an Arizona title right there in Quartsite using your ShowLow address for the registration address. Then went to Texas with a clean Arizona title to do a 2nd transfer there. However, I really don't understand why you don't just keep the registration it in Arizona. There is no inspection in Arizona. With your Showlow address there is no emissions test either. You could simply transfer the title in person and then register the RV online. You'll never have to visit a DMV in Arizona again as you can register online each year or even pick the multi-year option and register your RV for up to 5 years! Forget Texas, that is not a free state. Arizona is a much better state! Plus we have the life time drivers license option here. You won't have to renew your drivers license until you are over 60 years old!

I had a similar issue in Texas. I had to go through the "bonded" title process in order to get plates. It took nearly six weeks to make that happen.
After three years you get a regular title.

I had an issue at the DMV with paperwork about my dad’s truck we sold after he passed. The lawyer told us what we needed. Got to the DMV and had a lady like the one you had. She didn’t want to listen to me about our issue . Went back up there after about 4 hrs and spoke with a different person. No issues at all. I think it’s a power thing with some of those people. Good luck

    Eric,
You can register your Bigfoot here in Arizona. I copied the info below from Google. I wish you the best of luck. We have watch you since your last Route 66 trip. You inspire us to travel so much. It will work out
What is proof of residency in Arizona?
    Approved documents are:
Valid Arizona driver's license, Arizona identification card, or motor vehicle registration. Real estate deed or mortgage documents. Property tax bill (most recent) Valid residential lease or rental agreement (signed by both the property owner/manager & tenant)

Stay parked at the Escapees rv park. Tell the dealer to overnight/fedX you one of their valid dealer license plates to the rv park and the necessary doc's authorizing YOU to transport the BigFoot To Arizona.
When you get Bigfoot back to Tatorland, park it.
Use your property tax bill as proof of address in Arizona
( U might get that at the property assessor's office) or Open a bank account with your arizona address and get a library card for Show low.
Thats 2 forms of proof residence.
Since Bigfoot is parked at Tatorland. you can work the title issue out with the dealer.
in the meantime Wayne can install your solar while Bigfoot is parked waiting for its immigration papers lol 😊 and you can drive that cute little smart car all over town cause the streets will be too icy for big black Betty.
Just a suggestion my friend! 🙏

First of all, shame on you for parking in front of the handicapped ramp. 2nd it says in that article “ but there’s a catch: the county tax assessor-collector has to be willing to accept the transaction “ so they don’t have to it they don’t want to. Maybe next time read closer.

I can empathize with you a little bit as we bought an Rv in CA, our domicile is WA, and we took delivery in AZ. It took three months to get title work completed. And I at least had a very helpful title clerk to smooth out the rough spots. Still it’s unsettling to deal with what appears to be a pointless bureaucracy. I like the suggestion about getting a dealer plate from the dealer then titling in AZ. After all you own land and surely have a deed even if you don’t have utilities. They pick up garbage at your address and deliver propane I presume. Seems like you should be good with that. Probably have the issue resolved by now anyway. Best to you and your furry companions.

I don't know if this will help, but I registered my Class C in Arizona without proof of residence... I used the address of an RV park (with their permission of course) as my "residential address" and the DMV did not need to see any bills or anything. I was still a CA resident up to that point, but changed my driver's license the same way. Heck, they even accepted a separate mailing address (a UPS box I rented at the time). So if you can get the vehicle back to AZ (towing on a flatbed might be an option, though probably quite expensive, it might be the only solution right now). So sorry about your trouble... that's such a bummer.

just have the dealer give you a new temp tag, they will usually extend temp tags if you have a legitimate issue. They can fedex it to you. Hell for that matter print one off the internet, most cops wont care if you're not breaking any laws, cops don't drive around searching for expired tags.

I’m confused why you don’t register it in Arizona where you have an address? Man I hate to hear about the title issue. But you did say it and show it yourself. “The county tax assessor has to be willing to accept it” it doesn’t say the assessor has to accept it. I could be readying that completely wrong but there is a difference between willing to and having to 🤷🏻‍♂️ but hope it all gets worked out for you quickly.

My first wife worked for years as a Tag ang Title Supervisor for MD MVA. She would bring home horror stories of poor people who had gotten caught up with errored titles, salvaged titles, VIN"S that didn't match titles, paperwork that didn't match, and other situations just like yours. Some wound up actually buying stolen vehicles, in which case they lost everything. Some wound up with the vehicle, but not able to tag or title in Maryland. I wish I knew of a workaround applicable to Eric's situation, but all of our state's regulations are so different. I do know this is not an uncommon situation, and there should be a path for him to fix this issue, since two dealerships are involved. The horror is when the seller is in the wind and cannot be located. The issue is time, but I think he can handle that. Eric will be ok on this. Don't worry.

Acme, so what are your ideas in fixing the problem at the DMVs?I live in Washington and we have private. companies who will prepare the paperwork for you for a fee and submit it to DMV for you and if we have a decent health care system in America I would imagine the same services would be available, many people myself included screw up the paperwork and do need assistance and that responsibly falls on the customer not the DMV clerk.
