Almond Flour Pancakes Recipe:
www.loveandlemons.com/almond-...
Healthy Granola Recipe:
Dry Ingredients:
3 c quick cook oats (138 g carbs)
1/2 c slivered almonds (5 g carbs)
1/2 c chopped walnuts (4 g carbs)
1/3 c pumpkin seeds (8 g carbs)
1/4 c sunflower seeds (1 g carbs)
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
Wet Ingredients:
1/2 c olive or coconut oil
1/2 c maple syrup (106 g carbs)
1 tbsp vanilla
Instructions:
1) preheat oven to 350F
2) mix wet ingredients large bowl
3) mix dry ingredients in small bowl
4) add wet ingredients to dry, mix together
5) spread out granola evenly on baking sheet
6) bake for 18-22 minutes
7) let granola cool for 20-30 minutes before putting away
Carb Count:
For this specific recipe, the entire batch is 264 g of carbs.
To calculate the carbs for each portion, I weighed the total batch of granola (700 g), then calculated the carbs per weight:
264 carbs / 700 g = 0.377 carbs/g
Example calculation:
If I weigh out 100 g of granola for breakfast
Then,
100 g x 0.377 carbs/g = 37.7 carbs

Thank you for doing this for everyone 🙏🏻💞
My goto is oatmeal. Everyday for as long as I can remember. And coffee.
I’m so glad I found your channel. My daughter was just recently diagnosed and I find your content so helpful!
Thank you so much. I'm happy to hear my videos have been helpful! This is such a hard time and I know what your daughter and your family are going through. Sending you all the best in this new journey 💖💖
@Knox Sergio thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it!
@Baker Cain happy to help =)
Mmmm, you’re making me hungry! 😋😋
Great video Michelle! Loved watching this 💖
I gotta try those pancakes! Thank you for sharing!
I love your videos. My go to breakfast is coffee and toast. I also love a good egg scramble with zucchini and onions. I love all of your breakfasts. I'm definitely going to make them. Excited to have new options and combinations.
As a fellow breakfast fan, thank you for the food inspiration (and the carb counts!).
I feel like with granola it’s so helpful to have it homemade, as I’ve had shop bought ones spike my BG a lot in the past from the added sugar - definitely helpful to have control here. Nice to see you back on RUclips, congrats on 30K subscribers!
Thanks so much Kate💖! I agree, the store bought granola also spikes my blood sugar!
Pancakes, eggs, and corned beef hash are my go-to choices.
My go to breakfast is toasted Ezekiel bread with natural peanut butter and black coffee. 😋 love English Muffins too!
Loved this video! I wish you can show us more of your food recipes.
You can start your cooking channel 😄
I am definitely going to try those pancakes and homemade granola ☺️
That granola looks amazing!
I LOVE breakfast as well, especially something hot and crunchy, like a English muffin or a sandwich thin, toasted of course! I like all the good stuff on there, a thin smear of jelly or a fried egg, or some peanut butter. I also like the "triple zero" youghert, but it gets a bit boring. I do mix in some lower sugar granola (hard to find), for some crunch. Thanks for your ideas. Its always good to have something in mind when I get up so I don't grab anything bad and get my day started off with a uphill battle to overcome. Thanks again!
My go to breakfast is lite Greek yogurt with chia seeds and walnuts. I like English muffins topped with cheese heated in the broiler. Yum
A nostalgic video for me! Your breakfast looks delicious!
If I eat breakfast, I like a piece of fish, and some seaweed soup (mekabu or Mozuku). In alignment with Mr. Kanji Ishikawa's Mantra(one of the longest living Japanese Diabetics) , I don't like to eat too many carbs especially in the morning. Thanks again for sharing your journey!
Thank you so much for sharing these, Michelle. I'm going to attempt the granola this week. Now we need a Lunch themed video :)
Thank you!! Haha I will have to make another one for lunch! 💖
Congrats on 30k!🎉🎉
Wow thank you! I didn't notice I had hit 30k! 😀
i love to make rolled oat pancakes cause they are easy, quick ,and so filling. i found that if i let them soaked i need the half amount of insulin during the day !!sharing the tip here
I am also insulin resistant in the morning! I always eat the same thing and enjoy it. Two Ryvita crackers with peanut butter and a little jam with a cappuccino. I also live in Toronto! take care, Nadia
Thank you for sharing this video. I've been a type 1 diabetic since age 12 and I've had some complications.
Hi ...Michelle..was waiting very eagerly for ur upload 😍😍super healthy super yummy recipes ....u are always a positive energy for everyone like us ....😘😘😘😘love from India .
Just as I was wondering what I’m gonna eat tomorrow morning.. 🥰 Can’t wait to see what you eat for breakfast☺️☺️
Ahh perfect timing! I love that! ❤️
I recommend topping your pancakes and waffles with a yummy dairy free yogurt along with your berries! Maybe even a dash of cinnamon. So good when trying to avoid maple syrup. I honestly enjoy it even more!
My go to Breakfast are the English muffin and peanuts better with flaxseed and hemp heats on top or Greek yogurt with fruit. I’m going to try your pancake recipe. Nice to add a third to the mix!
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! Honestly, sometimes I look forward to sleeping because it's like a time machine to get to my breakfast, haha. My go to is a mix of rolled oats, soy yoghurt, some berries and a chopped banana, topped with walnuts, cacao nibs and a dash of cinnamon. Definitely not low carb, I usually hit around 50 grams of carbs with it, but it hardly ever makes my blood sugar spike.
I love making homemade granola! Such great ideas Michelle
Thanks so much Sarah! I find making granola is almost therapeutic :)
Definitely making the granola, it looks awesome. My go to breakfast are eggs since there are so many ways to cook them and goes easy on sugar levels. Breakfast is the meal I try and experiment with low carb and no carb foods so I love breakfast but I also love good morning. 👍
Very nice! I like how you know that low carb breakfasts are what work best for you in the morning 😊. It's so good to do what's best for your body ❤️!
Steel cut oats! With peanut butter, flaxseed and chia. Topped with berries yum
its actually funny how you said your best meal is breakfast while I'm eating my breakfast rn, anyways keep it up big fan much love
No way did you just like my comment😍
Love my breakfast. Higher fiber really helps in making you feel full for a longer period of time. Probably why you have such success with your granola. I like your pancake recipe also. Personally find pre-bolusing 15 minutes before eating and then extending the bolus out for a two hour period helps a lot. I keep a "Food versus Insulin" log on my phone and record the percentages that seem to work. Ex: Pancakes: 40:60 (40% now with the remaining 60% over the next two hours (Tandem t:slim X2 pump)).
I love the idea of incorporating high fibre breakfasts! You are right, that's probably why the granola works out so well blood sugar-wise. Thanks so much for sharing your tips with the pre-bolus and extended bolus😊
My go to breakfast is waffles
I am 67 diagnosed 1989. I usually start with coffee (Liquid stevia) and whole milk sometimes a teaspoon of cocoa mix and usually a half cup of apple juice with pills. I usually eat 1 pop tart with about a tablespoon of peanut butter. My endocrinologist says ok but not great. I usually follow with some protein with eggs in a couple hours.
I pretty much eat the exact same thing for breakfast EVERY day. I eat one egg (usually fried), an english muffin with margarine and a slice of american cheese. I've been doing this for a few years now, prior to that I was eating cereal which caused a TON of roller coaster blood sugars. I am so afraid to change this because I hate the roller coaster!
I've never heard of hemp hearts. What do they taste like and where do you buy them. I might try almond flour pancakes (regular kind sent my sugars through the roof), but at $10 for a 2 lb bag at Walmart I sure hope they're tasty. PS I just started paperwork for a pump - been on MDI for about 4 yrs - and will have to start counting carbs. Sounds daunting.
I hate breakfast...lol. I don’t like eggs or any kind of breakfast meats. I’ve never been able to keep my blood sugar under control when I eat anything sweet. So, after years of disappointment, I just skip it and have a yummy homemade cappuccino. It keeps me full until lunch at 1pm. So far that has worked for me. That granola looks amazing though. I will try that for an after dinner treat!!!!
What kind of bread do u use
Oh my gosh I would seriously loveeee a video on how you figure the carbs in big batches of food you make per serving (like the oatmeal) but in more depth because I’m so bad at math but watching you do it step by step or on paper would be so helpful😅 also on how you use that food scale (more in depth about that beautiful scale) with example meals and how you inject for them. I love your videos so much thank you for being so kind and helpful. I’m 5 years diabetic now and I am still uncontrolled without a pump and my body rejects the dexcom g6 🥴 I want to eat more natural foods but carb counting with boxes and pre-made food is like a security blanket for me. 😪
I like your channel b
Have you tried sugarfree syrup?
Could you make a video about apps you use to manage diabetes?
I don't really use any apps except for the Dexcom app and "Nutrients" app for carb counting, so the video would only be like 1 min haha. Here is the Nutrients app I use: apps.apple.com/ca/app/nutrients-nutrition-facts/id396836856
@@MichelleLord Thank you!
I forgot cinnamon. I usually put in my coffee. My aunt the nurse says cinnamon is good for diabetics!
How is ur TSH levels now !! I hope they are good 😊
My TSH levels are great now that I’m on my thyroid meds 😊
@@MichelleLord lovely 😊
What about using sugar free maple syrup?
I’ve never seen any here in Canada 😂
@@MichelleLord in the U S we have Aunt Jemima, Carey not so good, Maple Grove the best and several others try ordering from Walmart.com average is 3 gems for 2 Tbs.
Suppose to be grams not gems
Sorry Michelle, made these pancakes this morning, me and my son weren't impressed, oh well, worth trying.
why use margarine, instead of butter?
That's just what we had. No particular reason!
Yogurt+1 Apple+ Almonds
I am not a big fan of breakfast, but I am a fan of being forced to lunch
you are pregnant 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Everything u just mentioned raised my blood sugar I can’t have any of this
Sorry to hear that! Remember that as people with diabetes we are all so different and our bodies will reposed differently to foods. One thing that works for me, may not work for someone else with diabetes, which is why I give this disclaimer in every video I make. I hope that you find what works best for you! ❤️
I eat pizza for breakfast 🤣🤣
