  • Hi friends! This will be my last video for awhile, as the baby could come any day now! In this vlog, we enjoy our last couple weeks as a family of 2 and get ready for our baby girl to arrive. The insulin resistance has been challenging at the end of the third trimester, but I'm managing well despite some stubborn blood sugars. I also share with you what I'm bringing to the hospital and chat about my birth plan for labour and delivery with type 1 diabetes.

    So grateful that you have posted your experience with Type 1 Diabetes while pregnant. I’m just entering my third trimester and have had type 1 since I was 16. It’s so hard not knowing anyone who has gone through it, so these videos have made me feel not so alone

    I watched almost all your videos before but just recently found out I’m pregnant! So I’m back watching all your pregnancy videos💛. Your calm positive energy has helped me believe I can do this. And I share your videos with all my family members who are worried about me. Xx

    You will do great!
    I have T1D and have 12 year old twin boys that were born on National Diabetes Day 💙💙 Delivery for me went really well and crazy how within a couple of hours of birth I was back to my pre-pregnancy pump settings for basal and carb ratios. I had the best pregnancy control but I found breast feeding a real challenge. I would always go low!
    Thank you for all the videos! I have watched them all from the beginning the past week while on summer vacation. I discovered your channel when searching for T:slim information as I’m starting on it next week. Can’t wait for your next video with baby!!

      This is so comforting! I’m type one diabetic and just found out I’m pregnant and it could be twins. Only eight weeks now so at my next scan they will confirm. Everyone loves sharing horror stories about how I will have to have a c-section, so it’s really nice to hear you had a natural birth! Xx

    Hi Michelle. Thank you sharing with your fellow T1’s. The carb. ratio that you’re describing in the mornings are very normal for me without being pregnant. It means so much to actually tell us your numbers so we don’t feel so alone and ‘different’ with T1. Very excited to meet your baby girl:) Sending beautiful vibes your way! 🦋🙏🥰

      @MichelleLord  3 года назад

      Hi Sydney! Yes, I know so many people with diabetes who have a similar insulin to carb ratio, regardless of being pregnant. I guess it shows how everyone is different in terms of their insulin needs, and I'm a big proponent of taking the insulin your body needs 😊❤️. Thank you so much for the lovely wishes! Stay well!

    Wow all your maternity clothes are so adorable. You might want to hold onto them because after baby is born all you will want to do is dress so comfy and possibly not care about how cute you look. I preffered sweat pants and relaxed fitting clothing because any pressure on my stomach was painful..... Good luck with motherhood, enjoy the little bundle of joy. 🥰

    You’re much nicer than I would be. Hospitals hate me. I just tell them the rules of engagement, and I get my way. Period. I told the nurses at my brothers hospital that if they didnt give him insulin, i would give him my own insulin. His BS was over 40O for 3 days before I arrived, because he had a hypo, and they turned off his insulin drip for 3 days, until I threw a fit and made demands. They ordered insulin within minutes of me losing my temper.

    I've been told that women in general will throw up if they have carbs during labour. I will be hooked up to a glucose drip. Won't you be hooked up to one as well? (I'm type 1 and 23 weeks pregnant)

    • @MichelleLord
      @MichelleLord  3 года назад

      Never heard of that before! And I don’t think I will be, but we will see.

    • @hannahsims9573
      @hannahsims9573 3 года назад

      At the hospital I delivered at, they didn't want me to eat or drink anything directly before labor or afterwards to monitor me. (I'm from the US) I was starving. 😫 I was put on insulin drip because I'm MDI. I think it depends on everyone's choice. Make sure you speak up if you feel more comfortable and confident trying to monitor your blood sugars. Its literally so exhausting to push a baby out and your body feels so worn out afterwards you just want to take a long nap but you probably wont be allowed too since nurses will constantly come into the room to check on you for everyittle thing including checking for stable blood sugars.
      If you rely on a insulin pump make sure it is not attached to your belly because the nurses will most likely request you take it off or have it places else where so that they can place the heart monitors for baby onto you and the other 20 cords that will be wrapped around you. (It could be less but you might feel like a science experiment when giving birth.) The same goes for your CGM. Make sure it is on your belly or leg so that it is not in the way of cords or baby entrance. 😊

    Just warning you, your blood sugars will gone down to completely normal as soon as baby is out. It’s crazy how fast it does. Just make sure you have low sugar snacks and stuff. I always thought nursing was in some ways harder to adjust levels because baby sucks everything out of you, so if you plan on nursing, make sure to have snacks with you ALL the time. 😂
