Another fabulous 70’s group. You can’t not get up and dance to the Miracles!!! 💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺
I say this all the time. I’m so glad I grew up when I did. Our music was the absolute best!! When I look back on the catalog of music from my generation I see a rich and diverse range of music. Folk music, Motown, the Philly sound, rock, blue-eyed soul, R&B, country, southern rock, and blues - and so much more. The sounds were and still are AMAZING!!
You’re right! You have to dance 💃 🕺 when this one comes on. Just fun stuff!!
You are right! The late 60's and the 70's really put out a huge diversity of music. I feel so privileged to have been a part of it all!
You got me good with the "Pepto-Bismol" suits. I got tears in my eyes from cracking up so hard.
"Chassis fits like a glove. I got a button for love..." Fun, dynamic song from 1975.
Watching Amber's reactions is everything!
That was pure joy 😁
Amber was here for it!! She's a WHOLE VIBE!! GO AMBER!! GO AMBER!!! GET IT, GIRL!!!
Compare some of the older reaction videos to more recent - Amber has totally found her groove!
She's hilarious.
Soul music from the 60's & 70's was as wonderfully creative and brilliant as the rock music in the decades.
Love the chair dancing guys! Love it ! Love it! Love it! Takes me back in time!
Amber, put "Make me smile", by Chicago on your list. This will be your theme song!
Need more Chicago on the channel for sure
They did that song already but more Chicago is a must.
Once again #16 spittin’ truths!
@@johnhughesii5121 Yes "Beginnings", "Old Days" and "Wishing You Were Here". They only scratched the surface with what they reacted to by them.
@@Grievousish Yes!! Chicago is amazing!! ☺️
God you can't get better than the classics of motown. The purity of their voices there's no voiceovers no dubbing no electronic changeovers it's all natural talent. They're harmonies their tone is just perfection
Smokey Robinson may have been the lead singer of the miracles but his back up vocals were the best because not only were they very good at the harmonies but each man could carry his own weight singing and then you add in the dance moves and you have a hard entertaining group who were just about flawless with their performances. Everyone love the miracles.
I'm just a white guy in Nebraska born in '74, youngest of 6. We had this song on 45 vinyl growing up, we all loved this song😊
The song Love Machine features a growling vocal by Miracle Bobby Rogers, with group baritone Ronnie White repeating "yeah, baby" throughout the song. When the song came out in 1975 it was huge in the disco's and there was a line dance that everyone did to this song.
Actually, Billy Griffin did both the Growl and Yeah Baby. When performing, they let the other members take it over. I was there when my father "Miracle" Pete Moore, along with Lead Singer Billy Griffin Co-wrote this song. I was 7 years old and thought it was Awesome! xoxo
I grow up in the seventies and didn’t know about the line dance!😬👍🏿
One of the greatest groups of Motown, and that's saying A LOT!! This was another HUGE HIT for this legendary group!!
The Miracles' song "Love Machine" (1975-1976) featured the following members:
Billy Griffin
Lead vocals and co-writer of the song
Bobby Rogers
Background vocals, growling, and a member of the original Miracles
Ronnie White
Background vocals and "Yeah, baby" vocals, and a member of the original Miracles
Pete Moore
Background vocals and a member of the original Miracl
I loved this song when I was little. So much fun. I always laughed at the "oooh oooh oooh yeah" part.
This look is called "Superfly" after the character on "Starsky and Hutch" who always dressed like this. It was popular in the mid-70s. A lot of groups had a flamboyant style on stage and it makes watching these videos a lot of fun. So many great groups with this soul/R&B/disco sound made some awesome music during these years. Check out the O'Jays, the Spinners, the Manhattans, and KC and the Sunshine Band. Some choice sounds, let me tell you!
Wasn't that Huggy Bear? It's been so many years
Absolutely love ur reaction to the "trumpet growl" Amber this was always my favorite part of this song I actually remember recording it off the radio and playing it on repeat for ages 😊😊😊
If they gave out awards for best chair dancing by reactors, you two would win - hands down!
I absolutely loved this song back in the day. Amber’s right; you’ve just gotta dance when you hear it! And Jay, props to you for imitating the “trumpet growl” perfectly! 👏🏼
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles did a number of "make you move" songs. I remember grooving to "Shop Around" (another upbeat song) and "I Second That Emotion" (a slower song but still great dancing). Many of their slower songs were great for doing the Stroll which you can see in the Soul Train line.
Tears of a Clown and Mickey’s Monkey.
The Philly sound a must to review! The Miracles great group thanks.
You've got to check out The Moments singing "Sexy Mama" , it was out around the same time as Love Machine and the DJ's would play those songs back to back.
The classic lineup was Smokey Robinson, his wife Claudette Robinson, Pete Moore, Ronnie White, and Bobby Rogers. Guitarist Marv Tarplin who was Smokey’s songwriting partner was sometimes listed as a group member and appeared on album covers with the group.
J and Amber - you guys should go find them performing this on the tv show Soul Train...you will LOVE seeing all those young people mov'n and groov'n to this and dozens of other songs. Seriously - go find it on You tube - then let us know how much you loved it!
The TV show you are referring to I'm sure is Soul Train not Love Train...Peace!!
@@christis9079 I know I just thought about it right after I posted- LOL...was tired and late didn't want to go back to correct it..LOL
Thanks though . peace to you too
Pepto-bismol suits! Love it!! Hang glider collars and extra wide flares. The Ultimate in cool! You both were really Movin' and Groovin'.
I love this old Motown stuff! This was back when I was a kid and knew every word to every song on the radio!
You got it Amber you were moving and grooving without even getting up! Girl you've got it!!!!!!
Y’all put a smile on my face. Thank you for the reminder about our blessings. So needed that today. Hugs!
Just a bit of information, when the group first started they were The Miracles and later changed the name to Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. When William (Billy) Griffin became lead singer they remained The Miracles.
If you love high falsetto please do heatwave “always and forever “the live version it’s awesome
Oh man! I sang that song at a friend's wedding, and lemme tell ya, those high notes were chalkengingbfir an alto. But the song also goes really low too -- almist too low for me. It was the most difficult song I ever sang at a wedding.
Remember the song very well, and it always makes you want to get up and move! Amber- was typing that when you guys paused it again and said same thing. Don't remember seeing them perform it, though, I never pictured them in pink! :) Glad to see you guys also having so much fun with it! Don't feel bad Amber, I couldn't dance 'like y'all' back then either. :)
Billy Stewart "I Do Love You"...A True Soul Classic.
The lead singer here is Billy Griffin. He had his own hits later with 'Serious' and 'Hold Me Tighter in the Rain'. Worth a listen.
That was incredible! I have heard that song a thousand times through the years but to get to see it performed live was amazing. It's so fun to see you all enjoying it too. Motown Rules!
Billy Griffin took over after Smokie Robinson left the group. And also had a solo hit. Hold Me tighter in the rain. Worth a spin. 🥰
Yes he did, I think he did a pretty good job as lead because he didn't try to copy Smokey he had his own sound.
That song didn't get the longevity it deserved. I heard it in July and August of 1982 via my favorite radio stations and then it died out.
I think that's the most fun I've seen her have on the channel yet! I was a little worried she was gonna hurt herself trying not to dance 🤣🤣
Rock, along with R&B in the 70's is the finest music to my ears. Great music, great memories.
I have an unusual request but I promise this will blow your mind. In 2017 a ventriloquist named Darci Lynne won Americas got talent at the age of 12. In 2019 she came back to do a tournament of champions where she performed an opera song ventriloquist style. I watch it over and over and it still blows my mind. Even though it's not what you normally do please react to it. It's incredible.
"Love Machine" song (1975) has a
lyric, "Na na na na na na na. Na na...
Na na na na. Na na na na. Na na...," sampled from Steam's 1969 hit "Kiss Him Goodbye" (w famous chorus: "Na na na. Na na na.
Hey, hey, goodbye").
Great reaction! Pepto Bismol suits, Hilarious!, love the Miracles!. My nephew has a 1953 Chevy Bel Air, with the words "Love Machine" on the rear side windows. Recommend The Delfonics, "La la means I love you". Thank you! 🙂 Peace! ☮
I am so blessed i was a kid when this came out i was in the 6th grade and yes this is one my all time favorite songs, Girls still wore dresses in school :)
Coming of age in the 70s & 80s really was the best time EVER (even though lots of us back-end Boomers are bummed we missed the 60s as well). It's when I joined the Army & watched Star Wars & Saturday Night Fever overseas where newly Ike-less Tina Turner came to perform for the troops. It's when we disco'd & I met my husband & made a choice to become boring. But we had it, beautiful Oklahoma babies! And thank goodness we didn't die of the fun.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd, blues guitarist, great songs...I recommend "WAS", " BLUE ON BLACK", "EVERY TIME IT RAINS"
lol! Y'all don't know about the 70s, do y'all? This era of The Miracles was jumpin'! Check out "Do It, Baby" and "Up Again"
I remember the Avon lady, in the 70’s in our town, had a polyester pant suit that color, and a wicker lady hat 👒 with a pink flower 🌸!
PS: 😆 I just remembered a funny detail… I was at my Grandmother’s one day when she came by. Gram commented about the fact that she has a different color flower 🌺 🌸 on her wicker 👒 hat, to match her outfit, every time she saw her.
She took off her hat and disconnected the flower 🌸 from the hat, explaining that she “found these neat little clasps at the store where her husband buys his tobacco products,” and bought the fake flowers 💐 at K-Mart, attaching them with wire twists. Clipped to the white hat band!
They were “Roach Clips!” 😂
The Avon lady was awesome!!! 💜
What a fantastic classic from my childhood!
Yeah the lead singer was using a lot of falsetto, as where the backup singers.
Speaking of Smokey Robinson, he was a brilliant songwriter. He wrote hit songs for lots of different artists, including himself and the Miracles. Check out Tracks of My Tears, Shop Around, Tears of a Clown, I Second That Emotion, You've Really Got a Hold on Me.
Great lead vocals by Billy Griffin! Pete Moore, the bass voice! Bobby Rogers, (A tenor) Ronnie White (A baritone)! These dudes can BLOW!!!
Yo you guys put a smile on my face I was a baby in the 70s when this song came out but I remember when I was little older hearing my dad playing this omg thanks for the upload
The4 miracles do wonderz for the feet...Thanks guys!
I haven’t heard any other songs by them except for this one. This is the first time I’ve ever seen them perform. Sometimes I wonder if Smokey Robinson was to sing that song when he was with the group.
0:53-“go ahead, Jay, reach over and ring that bell!”
1:44-“Pepto-Bismol suits” good one, Amber!
Here are some more songs in this era I am suggesting. Temptations - Glass House, Ben E. King - Supernatural Thing, Bloodstone - Natural High, Isley Bros - Fight The Power, Ohio Players - Love Rollercoaster, Carol Douglas - Doctors Orders, Thelma Houston - Don't Leave Me This Way and Average White Band - Pick Up The Pieces. Thank you so much for all the fun! 🤗🤗🤗
I've been suggesting these guys and more since they started but they really not into R&B even though they say they are? 90% of their music is Rock and Country. Which I don't understand because they have a lot of fun when they play Soul and R&B..
Yes! Don't Leave Me this Way is a great song!
Love it, love it, love it!!!!!!!
Hah! Fun song. I like it. "Love Machine" is definitely not something I'd go out of my way to hear, but the vocals are good, the lyrics are interesting enough, and it gives off good vibes. I may have heard this a handful of times in my entire life. Thanks for the reaction. You revived memory of a song I hadn't heard in a long time.
Great reaction!! I know this song but I didn't realize it was the Miricles
What a fun song! "You Really Got A Hold On Me" is another classic one from them. Pepto Bismol attire is so smooth.
All I can think of is that Pixar movie planes when the Mexican plane is trying to win the heart of the French Canadian plane
You might like Sly and the Family Stones "Thank You For Lettin Me Be Myself Again". Larry Graham displayin' his bass poppin' style.
There was a line dance that we used to do with this song back in the day. I think it was called the "Bus Stop".
I remember learning the Bus Stop in 1977 at "dancing school" which my Mom made me take to learn to waltz for cotillion ( it's a southern society dance) but we were taught one contemporary "disco" dance. The Bus Stop moves pretty much live on in some of the basic line dances you see at weddings.
@@canonfodder2068 I remember attending cotillions in the late 70s and early 80s ...a requirement of my mother and her social club. A strictly "No Disco" affair...lol.
I believe the bass singer was going for the sound of an old car horn known as an "aoogah" horn. Before cars went honk or beep they "aoogahd". Look it up and I think you will understand. When he sings "aoogah" he is saying stop! "I'm just a love machine and I won't work for nobody but you."
LOL @ Pepto Bismol suits & boots. This song featured Billy Griffin on lead vocals. He was hand-picked by Smoke Robinson as his replacement. Like Smokey, he has a killer falsetto. The Miracles had two big hits after Smokey left the group: Do It Baby in 1974 and Love Machine in 1976 during the disco era. Both songs are filled with innuendo that was both radio & kid friendly.
I remember a DJ putting this in a hard House mix as an older teen. Awesome bridge and awesome days.
I used to sing this to my cat Bandit. "I'm just a PURR machine and I won't purr for nobody but you" lol
Another favorite classic!
Sorry Jay, gotta say it, you have a magical musical girl there and you are so blessed. You both compliment each other so well! Loved the reaction.
Lead singer Billy Griffin. Stepped into Smokey's shoes when he left to go solo. Check them out with "Do it, Baby".
You can’t be grumpy when Amber’s got her groove on!
Great line “ I’m just a love machine Oooooooyeah”🎙😎✌️southside OG
A proper 70's Soul Classic.
Billy Griffin took over lead vocals from Smokey when he left along with his wife in the early 70’s the best ever with Bobby Rogers, Ronnie White , Pete Moore.
You guys both need to get the pepto suits and hats, and then boogie down to this song on your show! That would be really groovy!
I Am 63 and Have Heard these Songs Thousands of Times, but it Really Makes Me Feel So Good to See The Reaction of Our Youth hearing and Enjoying This GREAT Music.
Billy Griffin is The Lead Singer. Shalawam🙏🏾Fam
Mason Williams ‘classical Gas’
Love this! Wiggling already for hearing the first couple secs!!!
Sooo much fun!
Knew you guys were in for a good time!
This song was The Miracles' second #1 r&b-crossover hit of their career. The song peaked at #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Soul charts during the early spring of 1976. On this song, Smokey Robinson doesn't sing lead because he left the group in 1973. This song is a banger indeed!!!
Hey Rob squad I'm writing from England and I can tell you I was dancing to these kind of songs in the 70s and it was amazing l, you two would of loved that era, thanks for bringing me some amazing memories 💯❤️
Love this groove
If you were near a roller rink in the 70's, you skated to this song. A LOT!
I can't believe that I used to be able to skate - now I'm hoping not to fall in the grocery store.
This was awesome!

The perfect, soulful pop song. Fun with a great melody and a groove, it will be listened to for as long as there's music. Billy Griffin is magical and the boys look to actually be having fun after the Robinson stuff.
I've always loved Motown music. I got assigned to Detroit with the u.s. Coast Guard in 1978. One of the first things I did was go down to Woodward Avenue to check out the Motown building headquarters.
When I first looked at the title of your video all I could hear in my head was the "Oh yeah" that growl you mentioned and the next words that start out the song! it is all I remembered from the song! it must have been about the mid 1970s about then, It has been so many years since I have heard that song, I do not hear it much on the radio but man that was a song to bust out some dance moves on the roller-skating floor! I imagine it was perhaps even more fun out on the dance floor, I was too young for the dance clubs back then! Ha! Enjoyed your reaction! ☮💕👍
The moment I read the title to this video, the growl echoed in my head. I loved this song as a little tyke.
That’s the late great Scott Edwards on bass. Drop d tuning at its best!!!!
Listen to Tavares (Heaven must be missing an angel) or The Stylistics (Betcha By Golly Wow).
This is pretty funky. " I am chair dancing" !!!!!!!
The chair dancing is my favorite part! 😂
This song always reminds me of Cheech singing the love machine part.😂😂
Thank you for putting a smile on my face this Friday!
This is an early disco classic. Definite Soul Train material with those great mid=70s "pimp" suits!
They were great and I think they’re still playing around, they had several hits, I got to see them in Houston texas great show
God I miss the 70's. Definitely a time to just groove. Love Ambers reaction. Lol
In Chechnya and Chong’s first movie (up in smoke) the name of his “low rider” is “love machine” and he has his own rendition of this song, very humorous.
OMG...memory lane..dancing my little bum off with my girlfriends in the clubs. Love this. Thanks for great reactions too.
I CAN'T HEAR THIS WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT CHEECH SINGING THE BEGINNING OF THIS IN ONE OF THE OLD CHEECH AND CHONG MOVIES!!!
Love it! You guy's were having such a great time, got me chair dancin
I'm just alove machine . Yeah baby. Classic
Jay and Amber, you guys are listening to the music I grew up with and it is wonderful to see that you are enjoying this music the way that I did.
