"I Second That Emotion," is my our favorite Smokey tune!1
60 years of fabulous!
It just doesn't get a whole lot better. Yeah, Smokey I think is in that upper echelon of singers, and then you've got the songwriting...classic. This song was released just shortly before I was born, whoa. Thank you, thank you.
When I was a little kid I'd frequently put a canteen and my little transistor radio (when I could afford a 9V battery) in a backpack jump on my one speed bike with banana seat, sissy bar, heavy thorn resistant knobby rear tire and rear brake only (typical bike for youngsters those days) then ride miles through the hills with my wonderful dog running alongside. There were some spots to stop with a view where I'd sit and listen to music of the day on that tinny little radio. I don't think Bandita, my dog, cared much about the music but she sure loved being up in the hills with me...and chasing rabbits 😊. Simple, good times. Wonderful old songs like this bring those memories right back. Thanks!
One of the GOATs of music!! IMHO the most beautiful love song by Smokey & the Miracles is Would I Love You. Ohh, Baby Baby is another great one!
Smokey Robinson is a legend and has always been a class act. Great songwriter producer and performer.
This is a banger 🔥🔥 brings back great memories
Please do "Tears of a Clown" , "Cruisin" or "I Second that Emotion" for your next Smokey reaction.
Tracks of My Tears is another classic 😊
And don’t forget Ooh Baby Baby. It just boggles my mind with so many great Smokey songs everyone reacts to Shop Around. I just don’t be get it.
Yea you're right BJ, Smokey was basically Berry Gordie's partner in Motown records. In the beginning he wrote many of the Motown hits for everybody, played piano, drums, and sang like an angel. He still does!!! Love ya, PJ
Love him. One of my favorites from my days growing up.
Legendary group from my generation. ❤❤❤❤❤
Smokey💜💜🔥🔥💜💜 my mom took me and my 2 besties to see him in concert when we were 12 yrs old… sighs… that man is FINE!!!!! Prolly 1980 or ‘81 💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰
Such class back then! Love it! You Really Got A Hold On Me and Crusin' are two of my faves by him! Keep On Rockin'
Smokey is right up there with the gods , just a beautiful singer ❤️✌️
Have youever heard of Sha Na Na? They were a group of singers, dancers and musicians who sang doo-wop music from the 50s and 60s. They had a weekly TV show with comedy dsketches and guest singers, but they were fully-capable of doing their own catchy versions of older songs, and they even performed at Woodstock. I was reminded of them because I remember them singing 'Shop Around' on their show. 'Get A Job' was their signature song.
Johnny Contardo could sing with the best of them...great vocalist 🎶🎵
Mama was dropping some gems and it turned into a great song dope reaction
Great video, Smokey is one of the best. He also wrote many hits for other artists.
Now THAT was a perfect real good 🧡 feel good man Smooookey One smooth breathy raspy sweet voice to these ears🙏👍🏼thank Asia & BJ🧡🤜🏼💯🤛🏼
Love their music
Back in the day, Mowtown was a powerhouse of talent! Smokey Robinson was a writer for many of Mowtown's hits. Know where the "Mowtown" name came from? Mowtown was in Detroit , Michigan, car manufacturing center of America. A major portion of the population in the city, and especially the car factories, African American. "Motown", short for Motor City.
Being from Detroit Motown is in my blood, I seen Smokey when I was 7 and I've been super into Motown ever since, you should react to "tracks of my tears" or "cruisin" by Smokey Robinson! Those two songs are my favorite of his!
I saw Smokey in concert several years ago and he still sounded good 🔥
So nice to see young people like you experiencing and appreciating the old classics. Thank you
Love Smokey 💕. I just discovered a bluegrass band that you really need to check out the name is Carolina chocolate drops. ☮️💜
They're so fabulous. I love Rhiannon Giddens' solo music too. Check out the song "Julie." It's a punch to the gut.
@@sourisvoleur4854 yes it is. I listened to several of her songs earlier today. Definitely added to one of my favorites💕
Love me some Smokey! Thank you!!
The Platters, one of the best groups ever. Their voices were beautiful. Their songs was our belly rubbing songs (waltz's).
The songs of Motown have been with me all my life. In 1966 I came to the big city (called Mannheim (near Heidelberg / Germany) and was invited by a fellow apprentice to an American club "Fashonable" - I was barely 16 years old, musically absolutely unspoiled, and I fell in love - from the moment I saw it - with Black Music. My first song was "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye - the song was and still is my favourite Tamla Motown song. I know almost all the artists from the older Motown era; now I'm 70 years old and I'm still not tired of listening to these songs.
I love Smokey Robertson,
grow up with that kind of
music, his music never
gets old.
OMG, I couldn't finish Sade because y'all dropped this one! Y'all on a roll!😍💃🏾
As an Australian on Holiday in 1981 I was lucky enough to see Smokey Robinson and the Miracles in New Orleans. It was just Wall to Wall Hits and some i'd never heard before. They were great live.
Mid-1950s-1960s Brothers/sisters who came up sangin' in church & on corner laid down tightest vocals & harmonies of all time: And they were from b4 my time. 🙌 🔥
Love love love Smokey's one of a kind voice ! Being with you Is my favorite
The Beatles loved black music and covered quite a few songs in their first couple of albums.
I love Smokey Robinson and The Miracles “oh Baby Baby “
Oh. I love Smokey and The Miracles. He was and probably still is a prolific songwriter as well as great singer. So much with this group. Quite the rabbit hole.
This song was played on the radio and I didn't know Smokey at that time but the tempo is so catchy. Love his voice! Fun to watch it performed live 62 years later!!! Yep! True. Thanks for doing this one!
Loved their song “What’s So Good About Goodbye”…….just brilliant….
Little Anthony and the Imperials "Hurts So Bad" please please, you love them!!!!
There's so many great songs by these guys..Tracks of my Tears, I Second That Emotion, Tears of a Clown and Ooo Baby,Baby are excellent ones to listen to. Great choice😀
Love this cut. The music I grew up with. Watch his old live black and white version of "Ooh Baby Baby" here on RUclips. Smokey Robinson, the sweetest voice ever on record.
"You've Really Got a Hold on Me" by them is pretty great.
Oh my god I was sold on the very first one. That was 38 years. I had 36 great years.
cannot go wrong with smokey...ever!!!! he is awesome!!!! hard to believe he is like 80 years old now. still awesome. can't beat classic Motown sound!
Life lessons for sure.
"Mama Told Me Not to Come" is another good one from Three Dog Night.
💖your channel!
William “ Smokey” Robinson was a Senior Vice President at Motown records….superb song writer…..he wrote one of the greatest songs ever written “My Girl”…..
Oh I'm here for this one too.
Legendary!
Love the old school Motown! 👍👍👍
I'm in Michigan and Smokey was the man! Beatles covered his You Really Got a Hold on Me. they had a strong affection for Motown artists even before they met any. That's why when they first reached America it seemed that many African American kids liked the Beatles...like "hey, their doing our music too...these guys from Liverpool are okay." the Marvelettes, Smokey, Berry Gordy's song Money, Chuck Berry songs, Larry Williams...Little Richard...in Jacksonville FL in 1964 the Beatles refused to play to a segregated audience, and the powers that be finally buckled and white and black kids were allowed to sit wherever. that speaks volumes about the Beatles power of music and bringing everyone together.
I love you videos. I am watching from England and am as old as this song, I have always loved motown, and I so impressed with how the two of you are open to all styles and types of music, it proves that real talent can be appreciated by all ages, and all nationalities. Motown always had that hook, it was the music and the lyrics that everyone can relate to. I am old enough to be your grandmother, so please that this with kindness that is intended, I think Asia is one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen. I would love to hear more Smokey Robinson.
Classic! Peace, Love!
No one has reacted to this:
Smokey singing with his cover artist Kim Carnes singing More Love live. It was a mid-80’s Motown event. Look at the backing band enjoying themselves.
Smokey might be the most underappreciated genius in music history.
Smokey Robinson and Fats, Little Richard, Nat King Cole, Sammy Cook, were all great singers in the 1950's.
The very beginnings of Motown.
SMOKEY ROBINSON: "Cruisin'" "Just To See Her" "Being With You" "Ooo Baby Baby"
"You Really Got A Hold On Me"
Check out EDDIE MONEY'S version too!
Love Smokey. More please!
That ladies and gentlemen, is Mr. Smokey Robinson. Soon to be known as Mr. Motown.
Super fan of the Miracles.. keep it coming please.
Great reaction to a legendary group! I got to see them in the 60's when I was in high school. It was a small venue for teens and it was packed. They had to go through the crowd from the dressing room to the stage. It was a fantastic show and the girls went crazy. After they performed they had to go back through the crowd to the dressing room and some girl grabbed the smallest guy of the group, Ronnie White. He shoved her away and one of the bouncers picked him up and carried to the room. It was crazy! Saw Smokey in concert recently and the ladies still love him. And his voice is still great!
Love you guys ... Excellent reaction.
The Marvelettes, the Miracles label mates, recorded a song with the same message for the female listeners called "Too Many Fish in the Sea." I think you'll really like that one, too.
Oh, and, Rembrandt Brown from Sliders... Cry Like A Man. Tears In My Fro is great too.
Smokey recorded hits and wrote hits for others.
at one time Detroit was the 4th largest city in the USA, even bigger than Los angles !
Ohh Baby Baby, Agony and the Ectasy,, You’ve Really Got a Hold On Me and so many more Smokey hits. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you both for keeping this great music from the past alive. Back then you needed "Actual Talent." What a concept.
I shopped over seas, but knew her aunt 10 years before her. I am still thankful to have a woman waiting for you to come home.
Please, listen to more Smokey. He is awesome!!! Thanks. Love your videos.
This was the Song that made Motown a Successful Label. Although Money was released by Barrett Strong this was The Breakthrough song. It went to Number #1 on The R & B Charts & #2 on The Pop Charts. The Show they are on is called Teen Town which was in Detroit which was similar to American Bandstand. Smokey has Written The Songs that have been part of our lives. Ooh Baby Baby, Tracks Of My Tears, Mickey's Monkey. He also wrote For The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes as well. His Songs have been Covered by The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kim Carnes, The Jackson Five, En Vogue, and even now he gets paid when his Songs are featured in Commercials. "Who's Loving You" is now the most popular Audition Song in The UK on The X Factor.
GREAT REACTION! Smokey and the Miracles. That is all.
Love me some Motown!!!!
"Tears of a Clown" & "Knock Three Times"
Just a note. Not only was Smokey a great artist he also wrote this song along with many more Motown Classics for himself and other Motown artist. By the way the lady in the Miracles was his first wife.
Smokey is a Legend period
I love Smokey he is so cooool!!
Top performer top song writer and not just his own songs . One of Motowns greats . My 2 favorite songs are Tears of a clown and Second that emotion . But all his songs are great actually .
B.J. got the moves!
When R&B was actually R&B. Back then R&B was rhythm and blues, now R&B is rhythm and beats.
Pioneer. Legend. 🎤
For those who love Smokey and Motown, you should check out “Hitsville The Making Of Motown” documentary. The best documentary ever🎼
My mother has very few hard and fast rules, but one of them is that no one but Smokey can sing her to sleep. ✌🏽
I got in the Way-Back machine for that one! Motown was everything back then.
“Here I go again” is my favorite

Love MOTOWN, Love Smokey. Saw him back in the 70's at a telethon. Very cool guy. If you guys haven't seen it I recommend the movie "One Night In Miami". It's based on a true story and is about Smokey, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke etc. Good stuff.
