This was one of those songs that it didn't matter where you lived, who you were, what ethnicity you were, it brought pure unity. This song came on you bet everyone within earshot was dancing, skating and having a good time. Very few songs have this magical power over the human spirit.
I danced to it in the clubs in a small town when the song came out in the 70s, and as a 61 year old white woman today, I get up and dance every time I hear it. It’s timeless and like you said Dan, this is a song you just cannot jam to. I love it just as much today as I did then.
That goes for most of the 80's! It didn't matter and it looked like things were going in the right direction.......and now we're a couple of decades later and nope, things just got worse.
The keyboardist is my friend, Steve Cox. The Dazz Band were originally called Kinsman Dazz (as in dance-able jazz)and they were huge here in Cleveland. I met all these guys when I was managing a Pro Audio music shop in the 80s. They received a Grammy for this tune. My pal Steve is now Trisha Yearwood's keyboardist. Class guy and a great musician. Sorry for the tell-all here. This brings back many great memories. Love you J and Amber. Peace and love to all here. God bless.

This song was definitely one of my FAVORITE songs to dance and roller skate to! The roller skating rink that I use to go to (called Skate Ranch) almost every single weekend in 7th, 8th, & 9th grade was so much fun! It had 2 pool tables, 1 air hockey table, 1 ping pong table, MANY arcade games, and amazing food, a huge skating rink and in the middle of the rink were 3 good sized dance floor where we could take off our skates and break dance, regular dance, whatever we wanted to do. Oh thanks for bringing back fun memories of my 12, 13 & 14 year old self (7th, 8th & 9th grade). Those were the best of times! Much love to you guys ❣️✌️
