- This might be the smoothest Airbus A380 landing I have ever seen. Would be nice to know if the passengers even felt any kind of impact while touching down on runway 07L at Franfkurt. In addition I also filmed an Emirates Airbus A380 landing on ruwnay 23L at Düsseldorf on a wet runway this week which I also included in this video.

When we landed in Prague several years ago, the fog was so heavy we could barely see the runway after touchdown. Our landing was so smooth I wasn’t sure we were down until I felt the brakes applied.
The whole cabin applauded the captain.

I've actually wondered several times if technology would progress faster or slower if we were to know what has been made possible 100 years in the future. Would we research faster to get that awesome tech ASAP or would we put less effort in because we "know" the technology will come in the future so why bother now?

As an aircraft cleaner and detailer. Seeing how clean the wheels and struts look at 5:40 gives me so much satisfaction.
The A380 is one magnificent beast.

Landing an A380 is a bit like trying to land your kitchen fridge, their not designed for thick air and need a lot of help to get on the ground and back up where they fly best

Amazing the way the A380 wings go from straight, when supporting its mass in flight, to complex curves after touchdown when no longer subject to aerodynamic lift.
Your camera work is simply brilliant. I was awestruck with the aircraft, and then realized it was the steady capture that made it beautiful.

I just think it's pretty incredible how powerful and efficient the engines are, that level of oil efficiency would be undreamed of 100 years ago.

You imagine the size of the battery we are going to need in 2035 when fossil fuels are a thing of the past. A jet that big will only allow 5 passengers because of weight allowance.
They are not efficient tho, one of the reasons the 380 didn't stick among airlines.

I still think it will be in commercial flight for many years. I hope so, at least. It’s beautiful to see. I think one has already been decommissioned? (Anyone know why?)

The ground was wet. The water absorbs the best that otherwise causes the smoke.

That was a very smooth and gentle landing. I fly a lot and I don’t think I’ve ever had a landing that smooth in 30 years.
It’s amazing watching those massive wings go from a smooth horizontal shape to that beautiful gull wing appearance once the weight is on the wheels. Awesome view!

mc Mac it’s true. I did 15hours in an A380 non-stop and it was so comfy. The a350 version on the way back (14h) was unbearable. It was so small
Because A380 designed at the time hub & spooke (transit) still used (this means if you fly with half passenger, planes will land at another airport to pick more passenger), when entered production, airlines already move to direct flight so airlines need smaller long range planes for high frequency flight (smaller means fill up quickly), with Covid-19, economical, & cancelled freighter Version, A380 fate was sealed
The official said "If you only could sell products below productions price and losing money in the process, better shut down the production line for good"

It's just an optical illusion due to lack of depth perception. They are much farther from the plane than they seem.
It's not a problem since they already landed. But it could be dangerous at take off

@@nondual_communication because the wings are no longer supporting the weight of the plane. Air is still holding the wings up a little, just not enough to keep the plane off the ground, ergo, the wings aren’t providing the lift, therefore aren’t bending.

I must admit that I will sorely miss the a380 when it's short-lived existence comes to an end. What an absolutely amazing sight to see and marvel of engineering! And the pros that fly it.. top notch. Its all top notch people at the pinnacle of their professions.. my complete admiration and respect.

As a pilot,(private, IFR multi.). Nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than greasing a landing. I can' t even imagine the feeling in a A380!

Actually, commercial pilots who have flown smaller planes (like the Cessna) will tell you otherwise. Bigger planes are
easier to control.

Thats when the wings are no longer the source of gravitational pull on the plane. Quite astonishing how the wings can survive that prolonged amount of mass and bounce back up when done - aztonishing indeed!
Those wingtips probably came down a good 10ft or so, tremendous amount of flex.
the wings look more relxed but actually suffer much more stress on the grounds I think. No air to hold them up due to decreased speed...

The physics of transferring the aircraft weight from the wings to the wheels never ceases to amaze me. If the Wright brothers could see these machines of the sky they would simply not believe their eyes!

I used to see the A380 come in to land at LAX at least once a week. It's insane how large it is and it seems almost unreal as it lowered speed to come in to land.
That was really smooth and beautiful touchdown
The landing is so smooth that you don't need to wear your safety belt when you touchdown it's like the plane is still at 30,000 feet if your on the second deck.
