      I'm confused... Why were you/they only flying with an airspeed of about 280 knots at 38000ft over the atlantic? Surely you should flying with a ground speed of about 500mph in this situation which would be somewhere between 450 and 480kts by my estimate. I figured you had a massive 200kt easterly tailwind so you were achieving a 480kt ground speed with a 280kt airspeed, but the only 200kt winds over the atlantic I know of is the jet stream which is a westerly wind flowing to the east in the OPPOSITE direction so I dont think you did have that tail wind. But even if you did have a 200kt tailwind, why would you not accelerate to 480kts airspeed anyway and just enjoy the 200kt boost and cruise with a 680kt ground speed? I figured maybe you were going to do that though and just had not reached that speed yet, but in that case why was your instrumentation showing an overspeed warning above about 300kts?? I thought you had to very carefully maintain a narrow speed margin around 480kts when at such altitudes because you are in the so called "coffin corner". Please explain? Sorry for duplicate post also but i wasnt sure where was the best place to post to maximise the chances of the post being noticed and receiving a response!

      @@lxdimension ur looking at the wrong thing. They were going 486 kts TAS (true air speed) over the atlantic. Ur looking at the IAS (Indicated air speed) which is always lower the higher you go because the air is thinner and so the plane reads a lower IAS. Which is why at higher altitude speed is measured by mach number not kts. They were doing Mach 0.844

    The A380 is absolutely jaw-dropping. What a plane! The amount of runway it uses on takeoff had me sweating a bit. Looks like he was rotating 1000 ft from the end.

    • @techdefined9420
      @techdefined9420 9 месяцев назад +22

      Nothing to fear, they could have taken off sooner. But to spare the engine wear they used the full lenght of the runway. The A380 needs less runway to takeoff and to land, it can climb faster than the 747-8.

    Merveilleuses sensations depuis ce cockpit dont je révérais de partager un siège comme j'ai eu l'occasion de le faire il y a une quarantaine d'années sur un vol sur un AIRBUS première génération entre LYON et FEZ du temps où les normes antiterroristes n'existaient pas.
    Merci à cet équipage d'avoir eu l'idée et la gentillesse de nous faire partager leur métier, leur savoir faire et ce que une personne lambda comme moi ne connait de ce qu'est un vol sur un avion commercial.👍👍👍

    Very nice plane(lots of helpful tech to prepare in advance) and the video gave us a lot more detail than usual about the airplane.
    I did notice though that the FO was following everything by the book(1:16:27, 1:17:05) but both captains took solo decisions. There was an item to check "both" flight controls and the first captain marked it as checked after checking only on his side. 1:17:28 The second captain inserts flight path changes without confirmation from FO, which reminded me of "American Airlines Flight 965".

    Before I had access to the internet in 2001 , I followed the development of the A380 in several articles published in the Popular Mechanics. I recall there was a design flaw in the wiring harness that delayed the first delivery. A huge setback for Airbus . 540 metric tonnes taking flight is mind boggling
