  • Pipeline: The Surf Coaster Review, New roller coaster at SeaWorld Orlando. Is all the hype for this new ride type all it's made out to be? Check out my thoughts on the new ride and all-new area at SeaWorld Orlando. The standing coaster features all-new seats that bounce up and down to provide an extra burst of airtime over the hills. #review #surfcoaster #seaworldorlando #rollercoaster
I look at benefits and downfalls of the restraints, layout, and more to figure out whereabouts I rank this versus the other roller coasters that I've ridden.

I’m an ambassador and I rode it 101 times in a 4 day period during ride testing and 2 more times since then. Love this ride. The best way to ride it is to save your collar bone by placing both hands under the orange shoulder vest and push out. It has plenty of flex to keep off of your collar bone and you still stay secure on the ride. So much fun👍🏻😊

Thanks for this. I rode it only once and my collar bone was hurting for an entire week after. Makes me not want to ride it again. But I'll have to try out your tip next time.

My question is, could someone injure themselves on this?
Let’s say they float over a hill, they come back down on their foot wrong into some positives.
I mean, theme park guests can injure themselves on a park bench that’s doing nothing to anyone. I wonder what will happen with this lol, especially if the dampeners lessen upon descent.
    But 10/10 want to ride

Do you think the surf coaster seats could be retrofitted onto older standup coasters? I could see Vortex at Carowinds becoming "Updraft" or "Streamline" with the new seats

Literally anything is possible. Anyone who says no, would be the same people who said the rumors of converting a stand up to a floorless isn't possible. And were dead wrong.

It's possible if a park wants to pay for the changes needed retrofit them with new trains.

    • @Soonjai
      @Soonjai Год назад

Most likely possible, but unless the Surf Coaster somehow manages to make Standups good in the mind of the public I doubt that it will happen.
I mean, you can´t really market it as a new experience. The Floorless conversions at least offered a new ride experience, give it a new coat of paint and a different name and the entire ride feels different. But taking a Standup that isn´t popular and putting other Standup trains on it will be hard to convince people to even try it.

It is the very first one that B and M have created, no other park has one, it was designed to draw in more family into the ride. Also, they said that, that was the only land available for the Surf Coaster because of the water table and thats what those spray of water, they could not go down any further, and they are starting to revamp the amusement area. So, for the first time creating something and make it successful. Theming is still going on the guy who was park development VP i think he was.

something i thought was interesting was how in the main layout, it is always banking and changing direction (except for where the trim is) and that's so unique for a b&m as they always have either many straight airtime hills on hypers or loops and straight track on their loopers, so for b&m's first try at why i like to call the "new-gen vekoma layout", i think it's pretty good!

What are you talking about? Ice Breaker is one of my favorite coasters and has some of the most unique airtime you can find anywhere. It’s actually in my top 15 out of 200 and my favorite coaster at SeaWorld. Not a waste at all.

The seating is so tight and uncomfortable on Ice Breaker I'll only ride it like once a year or when I visit with someone who's never ridden it.Overall I dont hate the ride,if the seating wasn't as cramped I would ride often.

Basically gimmick rides. Thinking of this, Axis, the Arrow 4Ds and a bunch of flats like the Tourbillion and Skywarps.

Hard disagree. There is so much potential with the new seat design. It really feels like no other coaster out there.

I thought it was pretty good. I don't think it's a great fit for the park but it was interesting to having standing air time. I didn't like the queue line though, lazy, the operations were ATROCIOUS, and it was only running 1 train so 75 minute wait. But it was cool.. The area is a bit deserted too, needs a ride or two around the area. The worst part is the vests though. Wayyyyy too tight for skinny people. I also agree it has too much positives. My legs weren't tired but I didn't enjoy the feeling of having to flex my thighs. I enjoyed it, even my mom enjoyed it, which is rare. But I had no urge to get back into a slow moving, 1 train line again. And you can tell they cut corners in theming, in the metal station, the queue, no mist/water effects besides the 1 (surprised they even added that) but it's nice to have a coaster up front of the park now.

I went today, rode it as a starting coaster, and did not like it as the first REAL coaster and doing all that air time when your feet go up, and felt weird when you go upside down. Would not recommend it if you do not know what to expect. I would say ride any other ride.

Rode it the first day of passholder previews and later that day and the next my collar bone was sore and I had no idea why.Three days later I go ride it again and as I'm on it I can feel my still lightly sore collarbone rub on the chest restraint where it bothered me.Its a really fun ride and I would love to ride it 3,4,5 times in a row but those chest restraints didn't treat my collarbone kindly

      Don’t really care for it.
Uncomfortable and no amazing sensations. I personally don’t like flying coasters though. It’s my least favorite b&m in the park.

1:20 Have you ridden any of B&M's other standups? I had no doubt an airtime focused standup would be great -- I just had doubts this would actually be one. Before B&M even made their first one, there were standups with air, and while most of those coasters were a matter of taste, there was no question what was the best part, feet off the floor. Everyone should have known.
Interesting call even this one does too many positive G maneuvers. An out and back layout is the obvious answer for coaster types that can easily suffer from excess +Gs and are best with airtime, such as standing or flying.
Haven't ridden it, but disagree the springs are what make it. It's the layout.

Been on quite a few; Intamin, B&M, Togo. The couple Togo I have tried have been my favorite, with most the B&M’s, yes, definitely having poor layouts. Who knows what the old trains would feel like with this layout, but I personally don’t think I would like it at all.
Riddlers is o.k, Scorcher is o.k. But I’m not rushing to ride those when I visit the park. These seats forcing your feet off the ground really provide a feeling like no other, and the softer landings are nice too.

I don't agree with the Quantity over Quality if you're talking about theming. We don't need theming, we need just good rides. The lack of theming is how we're able to get so many coasters built for not much money, Theming takes budget away from the coaster. We need coasters to push the boundaries of what's possible, not tell us a bedtime story as it cruises through a tame layout. It's why Orlando has sucky coasters, too much theming, not enough intensity
