I timed the market today for 3 at 159$. Got in at the first candle today. The 9:31 EST candle would have bought as well, but man it shot up and damn I had 65 cents left. lol Great trade! Though I have to say, if it's under $300 I'm buying. For now. I just decided that $159 would be fun to challenge myself on. My best trade ever! lol Just keep buying long term investors.
On that note, it will hit 130 in 3 months at some fleeting point. lol It's not a long term strategy. Just fun trading.

The trouble with Hubris is that it's self limiting in some circumstances.

Money and confidence in your own ability brings the opportunity more money.... But that same confidence can prevent the flexibility and foresight to see a paradigm shift.
If you then lock in to using wealth to maintain the status quo it's not going to end well.
Better to use the funds allocated to that "dipping a toe" in the new opportunity.

Remember when Elon said that the Tesla semi was cheaper than rail? That they convoy was something they could do TODAY, in 2017. Remember when Elon said the 4680 was going to be at least as good as a solid state battery? Remember it was going to be a "million mile battery"? Remember how FSD was six months away in 2017? The true believers overlook the dozens of wild exaggerations and chalk it up to optimism. The doubters see lies and stock pumping. Maybe some attack him out of envy. But, the doubters do have legitimate reasons to believe as they do. The true believers may ultimately be rewarded for their faith, who knows. But, it is a matter of faith, not fact at this point.

I’ve had FSD for two years now and I’ve only started using it daily in the last month. It was always cool and impressive, but it has recently become remarkably reliable and actually useful to me beyond a novelty. I think we’re under a year away from full autonomy.

Re: auto margins - they did mention that auto margins improved during Q1! I thought this was huge since fears were that there would be no more margins at all due to price drops...
And all positive auto margins even though they fluctuate. This demonstrates the advantages of direct sales online. Price adjustments are instantaneously adjusted to local demand. Remarkable!
I would hope this is a wake-up reminder that autos are a depreciating asset. Bad news for a buyer that needs a big loan to purchase. There’s a paradigm shift happening here too.

There were just too many shit to overlook at this call. The low cost car is indeed coming (after reuters posted fake news). The "inventory" is sitting in ship travelling to the customers so no demand problems - cars are already sold. Batteries are cheaper, cybertruck and 4680 ramping according to plan. Less capex for factories for new models. More income to come from FSD. Energy storage bussiness is booming. Cost cutting continues, 10% of workforce laid off. Ridehailing app looks ready. Confirmation of FSD licencing talks with "good chance" to sign it by the end of the year.

I got an in-person demo of FSD this past weekend. The car drove itself. It didn't assist the driver, the driver assisted it. And that assistance was only marginally necessary during the test drive. The driver did it to show how easy it was to intervene if necessary and then turn control back over to the vehicle. I'm sure the car could have performed the entire demo of several miles by itself.

With 11 my MY would drive in front of my house and just kind of coast and checks out, needing me to take over. With 12 it now pulls up to my curb and stops, just like I do when driving for Lyft/Uber/HUM. It does the same when taking me to one of my rideshare/livery pickups when in a subdivision. It has a harder time when in an office complex or at a hotel because it seems so eager to park it often gives up too early and short of the pickup pin location.
My riders comment that taking Waymo is either fun or very scary. It also takes a lot longer to get from point to point because it follows certain preferred routes. They comment on the turns still are pretty jerky and unsettling (sounds like FSD 11), and FSD (12) seems to be much smoother, etc.
Many of the confusion points with 11 was when the map data did not match the vision solution and the computer had to make a choice which one to trust. It is now very apparent that vision has the priority over the map data. My biggest safety concern now is the pending road rage incidents because of speed limit and stop sign/light behaviors, and being rear ended when it stops for a yellow light instead of the locally normal of having 3 or 4 cars running the intersection while now red. FSD is doing what it can, just yesterday I was in the right hand lane of a two lane protected left hand turn onto a three lane road, and the left car decided to forcefully claim the middle lane. FSD acted like one of the Thunderbirds doing their formation flying and slipped into the right hand lane as smooth as silk. I don't know if it swore under it's breath like I did.

Of course it’s about cars. More cars sold is more likely sales of their software. Yes it’s the software that will make the money but you have to own a Tesla to make that happen. Elon said that if an OEM licensed the software today that it wouldn’t appear on their vehicles for another 3 years so some way off. Any Tesla purchased with hardware 3 or 4 can already buy the software as will all new vehicles purchased before these licensing agreements start to move the needle so improving sales numbers of vehicles now is the obvious goal. So yes it’s about cars now even if sold at cost or reduced profit margins.
Building more cars (and battery storage) also stays true to the mission statement. “…..accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy”.

Yesterday TESLA is selling FSD for 8000 from 12000 on a few models for a few months. I think people are afraid to commit to buying not because TESLA isn’t a great deal, but they are going to buy before the next big deal
Tesla sells its cars just fine.
FSD is the cheapest it will ever be imo. As functionality improves and FSD is solved, the price will only go in one direction, and it's not down.
@@sdpryce this. Tesla is doing everything they can to drive FSD adoption in the short term to collect data. After they have critical mass of data FSD price goes through the roof.

When FSD connects to Starlink that's when the aha moment will come. Imagine your vehicle can see beyond what its cameras can see. For example there's an accident up ahead, or there are floods, or a bridge has collapsed. The satellite will be able to pick up on these changes and suggest alternative routes in real time. I'm surprised this has not been suggested by Elon himself. Perhaps there aren't enough satellites at the moment to provide this.
I would assume that other Teslas that already went through the traffic would have already transmitted that information. That would make the satellite uplink redundant, but I guess all the info that can be downloaded would be helpful.
Or where the speed traps or criminal elements lie in wait. Or flash flooding that hasn’t hit the news yet, enemy forces… air quality alerts

When I leased my Model 3 last summer I was surprised there isn’t a purchase option at the end of the term. Now I know I’m offsetting the cost of Tesla’s future autonomous fleet. It’s brilliant. They can build a van and a 2 seater but they already have 4 seaters coming back to them in droves.
I think the goal was capacity of 20M in 2030, not sales. It's actually an important distinction.
I agree. Growing the Tesla fleet size to 20M is definitely a realistic milestone.
@@svenhodaka9145 It's a massive and audacious goal, but if any team can do it, it's this one. Obviously an average CAGR of 50% gets ever more difficult as volumes increase. It takes about a 40% CAGR to hit 20M by 2030 from where things stand. I suspect the realistic number is now say max. 15M but maybe I am being pessimistic.
RoboTaxi will be an amazing technical feat, but not sure how valuable it truly is. Say it replaces Uber, well Uber is only worth $144B, and it doesn’t have to buy, fuel or maintain its cars - that’s up to the driver. I assume Tesla would also need to price rides lower than an Uber to attract apprehensive customers - so might not be much more profitable. Then consider the market for rides isn’t huge, is focussed in cities, and has more low demand than high times (i.e. evenings). Will the market for taxis really grow that much? Still good for Tesla, but not convinced it’s worth as much as some say. People are assuming huge profitability and huge growth in demand.

Lvl 4 is local driverless taxi (pedals and steeringg wheel may or may not be installed). Lvl 5 is same as lvl 4 but it can drive anywhere in all conditions. If they believe the robotaxi will not achieve lvl 5, which it can already do in "supervised" mode, they really are brain damaged.

Model two (Gen3 driver based) is being shelved in favor of a hybrid between Gen 3 and a different platform (model Y, etc). Gen 3 Unboxed will now be built without human driver controls (cyber cab), in several forms.

When I see predictions like this, I really want to know how you believe you know that. There is no possible way to be able to make any kind of prediction like that. It might be solved in six months or it might take 30 more years. If you are honest with yourself, and you don't make the mistake of using past FSD performance improvements to indicate future performance improvements, then you simply cannot know at all. Elon doesn't know either. He's been wrong since 2017.
FSD may not even be possible until AGI is available. Chat GPT makes mistakes sometimes. The difference between Chat GPT and FSD is that when Chat GPT makes a mistake, you don't suddenly crash into a tree at 60 mph.
But the data! They have more data than anyone and are collecting more data even faster now. Would more data have gotten the previous versions of FSD closer to autonomy? We don't know anything about how close we are to achieving autonomy because it's never been done before. There is no neural net approach that has solved FSD that we can use as a benchmark, so we don't even know if this new approach will work no matter how much data is collected. Optimism is one thing. This hype about FSD is something else.
In the Reuters: They probably did not lie directly, but heard only part of the story. That is: Tesla is going to cancel the current plans to do "model 2" production lines. And the person that talked to them did not know of the new plan to produce a "in between" model on the current lines.
They also showed screenshots of their ride sharing app. That’s a big deal too.
How's everyone talking about AMKKGPT and what is it exactly?
I was the operating partner of a restaurant company. Part of my job was to send out quarterly reports to investors. To communicate what happened in the previous quarter, what we were working on and offer guidance for future goals. Why you think Elon shouldn’t have to provide this for shareholders is beyond me.
The AMKKGPT handles this year incredibly well, they outperform most others and the entry with 1 USD is better than anything else right now. Love the vision and progress in this one

I reckon the new small model will have 48v system, steer by wire but body will basically built in same way as Y and 3. This will help ease the transition to the fully unboxed production in future and updated 3 and Y models. It will also allow 48v componentry supplies to gradually increase their capacity. Will save on weight, cost, efficiency etc. Maybe 50kh battery in 4680 form.
People that don't think FSD will be approved soon has not driven it.
Got in at AMKKGPT with $1 but I will keep it until it hits $50. Still low with that number as the market cap is not close to where it should be

I believe that we are only 2-4 years away from unassisted FSD/Robotaxi. Technically they are almost there,cand they might only need another year of learning to put the finishing touches on it. Then it's just a matter of how long the regulatory piece takes.

First, pruis was built on the echo platform for 2 years while they changed the factory. Tesla is doing the same without having to change much of the factory just getting new model oyt sooner this way
I think you missed the l4 vs l5 point he made. l5 is just not real. It implies no geographic limitations etc. if we have robotaxi in USA and not Canada then it is l4. l5 could go offroading. robotaxi willnot be going offroading and driving across the desert for fun.

the "analysts" thinking FSD is a decade away are not engineers I guarantee you... just look at the progress of AI in the last two years, this progress will only accelerate as the tools and data with which we train AI gets better each year as well.

Up 12% is great but we’re still not back to $200 where we were just 6-8 weeks ago. It would have been nice if Tesla put some of the FUD stories to bed earlier in the month. Maybe we would have been back to $200 by now

Tom is closer to the timing than SMR or Elon for RoboTaxi. My guess is 3 to 5 years with the added push by Elon, but it could take longer. Especially, if Elon leaves the CEO position.
Level 4 is perfectly capable of end-to-end trips. The only distinction between level 4 and level 5 is that level 5 would be able to work literally anywhere whereas level 4 can’t operate literally anywhere, but could work almost everywhere.
Lots of good points, NOT a stock player, only started investing because I was so enamored by TESLA and Elon that I became an investor. Only buy and put money into what I believe in. "I vote with my money in real life."
