I'm setting up my hotshot setup for myself and I'll be ready to roll by the end of this year.... I'm using a 2007 E-450 and I'm hoping that this device will work...I'm currently rebuilding a 24' old gooseneck... I know my equipment is used and old but for now it's a start and paid for.... I will be upgrading my equipment as $$$ allows me to...
In these hard times I don't want to get into this business in debt with a new truck and trailer...

Great video, to make the pre trip a little easier you can go into your motive dashboard and make it mandatory to do a pre trip before going on duty, that’s how I have it set up I find it easier,

Alot of useful information. Still have questions I use this same vehicle for work and home and I work 3 weeks on 1 week off. On my week off do we still need to have eld connected. I have forgotten to update my status and have gone into violations.
Glad you found the info helpful! Two ways I do it when Im home and used to run my other truck. I'll either go off duty and go into personal conveyance when moving around town, you just have to remember to go back off duty break when your done. Or ill just go off duty and unplug the eld while home. Ill do that if I'm staying within 125 miles of my home base.

What do you do if you arrive at your shipper or receiver and run out of hours for the day. What status do u choose when they give you a door? How do u get offloaded or loaded when ur on ur 10 hour reset?
I would PC to the nearest safe place to stay but notate what happened. Typically that’s bad planning but if there’s no choice then that would be your only option and hope you don’t get a DOT officer that will trip about that but some may.

Hey bro, I leave my ELD plugged in and I haven't seen it cause any issues with my batteries. And I just use the hotspot on my phone for the iPad.

Did motive say with the camera that's the only way to track harsh breaking fast acceleration and speeding?? That's what motive told me today but my insurance don't require dual facing camera
No I didn’t, I have another camera of my own
The camera is not needed to track anything. You can have it track and report those things to the insurance without the camera. But it may depend on your insurance company

Getting ready to start my trucking non CDL. I’m confused on the whole plate situation. I need to register my plates and vehicles registration to say 26000lbs or under ?
If your doing Non Cdl then yea register the truck at 26k.

IF you're talking about the fuel card then no I don't, we use RTS. Only cards I have is the manual and instruction cards lol

It has the correct plug, I just plugged it straight in out the box
what do you do if your truck is also your personal truck and your not working for couple days does the eld still keep track

Yes it does. Which insurance is requiring you to have that. They should be giving you a discount to report that to the insurance.
Is it possible for eld to drain your battery over night? My battery died twice in a row since I hooked up eld.
Id get that checked out. I’ve never had a battery die bc of that and my eld stays plugged in.
Great video, but just so you know the steering wheel spinners are illegal in a lot of States and all of Canada. Only use if off road construction equipment.

That was a good video I gotta level one in New Mexico coming Eastbound Yesterday at the Weigh station They pulled me in to Bay one 1st time in 4 years In business. The 1st thing they asked me Hope you don't have no personal convenience They're going after that now The only exception is what you did when you went off duty at home You can only use it at home and Traffic accident and and location of pick a pick up if you're there for more than 6 hours. He Gave me a copy already had them printed out showed me all information with FMCSA. I'm just glad I was on vacation for 10 days he went back 8 days on my record book I was only running for 3 days a lucky I didn't use no personal convenience. He basically said another way to get money he felt bad but that's the new rule. The guy did say they do have quotas they got to average 6 A-day The guy was a 10 year veteran I learned a lot Plus I got a clean level one....lol.. Keep it up man

Do you need a internet connection on iPad for using this with motive ELD
I use mine sometimes without internet, it uses bluetooth but it’s best to have it connected to the internet so that back office can be connected.
How do you get to the page that shows your hours? I did my pre trip and everything now what?
Go back home and hit logs. Top right will have an icon that brings you to the hours.
@@HotshotMacc I don’t have the Logs button that everyone else at work does. I’m on the same screen and they have it but I don’t. That’s for iPhone and Android apps I don’t have the Blue Log button

I need help please. I can login to my account just fine, but how do I get the Blue “LOG” square to appear? I don’t have that so I can’t change my duty status. When I had the Keep Truckin app at my old job it was soo much easier. I’m just lost now and I can’t do any longer runs with my current job without this app working. Any help is appreciated thanks.

How do I put my bol number on my logs.
Under logs/forms there is a line for shipping documents and thats where you input the BOL #
I really thought that you was going to show how to install the app on the cellphone. That's actually my problem. I'm trying to use my cellphone as my back up. Motive is installed, but won't show the graph at all, it won't even let me accept the part that says ELD & transportation authority regulations.
So what step I'm missing for completing the app installation?

I believe it’s the same process as the iPad bro. I started out using my phone then went to the iPad. Maybe give Motive a call so they can walk you through the process. Would be hard to explain here.

FMCSA does not require your pretrip/post-trip to be 15 minutes. If your inspection takes 5 minutes, it's legal to log 5 minutes.

Your carrier can make their own requirements time wise, but you will not find anywhere in the CFR that gives you a time period. However, you should at lest show 5 minutes or more because if you don’t and your in an accident, the attorneys will make it look like premeditated murder.

Why does it show 10hrs and 87, in your off duty time is that minutes or seconds or what? The motive ELD is the only one I have seen that shows times over 60 in the minutes column. I am looking at another Motive ELD right now and the off duty time (for the day) is 15.89, the drive time is 2.81, On duty not driving is 5.31. Those numbers total 24.01, I just dont get the times over 60 in the minutes column, any time over 60 should bump the hours up.
