Mike thank you for the video it gave a little more understanding. I keep getting error messages about signing my sheet I’ve signed & it keeps doing the same thing
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 our UK regulations are a 60 HR working week only. A 90 hrs driving with in a 2 consecutive week period. Had to revisit some vids like this. Drove my first solo load last night and virtually lost a day of drive time trying to make it home bc I was so used to those few weeks teaming with a trainer lol. Oops lol
If Al you doing it’s driving you can drive your 11 use 1 or less of the on duty for your inspections do your 30 minutes brake when getting diesel and going to the restroom because basically your 30 minutes break from driving counts as on duty time so I use it for something and the rest of the time already on off starting the 10 hr reset, I thing it works, because wanes the truck stops you can go to on duty do the inspection and go to off
My problem is I woke up to look for a trailer, was told it wouldn’t be done for a few hours so I went back into sleeper mode, then later today it gave me a 1 hour warning even tho my 11 hour dot says I got 5 hours left ?
Question! I’m trying to do car hauler in state. Let’s say it’s at the end of my day and I’m done and heading home. Im I still on duty ? I won’t to say no. And if yes what do I do if I am running out of drive time to get home ? Thanks your video has help me.
If your driving the truck home you’re supposed to be on duty driving, if you’re running low on time, drive as far as you can , and then hopefully you can put it in PC (personal conveyance which is off duty driving) for the remainder of your drive until you make it home. Not all company’s allow PC tho.
Hey man I been going on sleeper berth while at customer getting loaded 2-4 hours detention just so that I can split the clock on sleeper berth and that way it extends my 14hour clock. Meaning I have driving time still buy 14 hours are at zero if I am driving it will show as negative time alarms will go off and red letters will pop up but it can be satisfied with the other rest break provided that if both added it comes out to 10 hours break. Someone told me to only stay ON DUTY if you are on the dock by the rear of your trailer observing while they load otherwise sleeper berth while in truck to use this benefit. What do you think does it sound right? I mean no violations yet.
I've watched two times so far it makes .much more sense now because I screwed my clock today and was stressing out I'm only 2 months in and only 2 weeks in by myself without a teaineer
Hey man question so when the 14 hour shift clock notifies you of a violation warning you have to be off duty when you take your 10 hour rest break or on duty ?
Off duty or sleeper birth…. It’s not often that you’re 14 hour clock will come close to a violation unless you’re taking a lot of breaks during your drive shift
You made one slight error, you can work as many hours as you want to, you just cannot drive after you have been working for 14 hours. Your company might have a different policy but legally you can work 20 hours if you want to as long as the last six hours of the shift there was no driving.
amazing. i have a training for a customer service representative and these clocks stuff was very confusing. thank you a lot, i just have one question: let's say you have 8 hours driving, 30 minutes break and 2 hours on duty. that's: 10.5 shift. okay. normally, how does it restart again the 3 clocks (break, shift and driving) is it by being "duty off" or "sleeper off" for 10 hours or more right? thanks man
Hey Mike good video you posted! How does this ON DUTY time is different to flatbed? I'm starting as flatbed next week. Just looking out for all the info I can find. thank you,
Flatbed drivers would typically be on duty the whole time you’re getting loaded as well as while you’re securing the load. And then you’re also supposed to stop and do a load check I believe every 3 hours or every 200 miles, but don’t quote me on that, I haven’t did flatbed in over a year .
If the company is running under DOT Rules & Regulations than it does, but some companies run non CDL, possibly delivering their own materials, or running under a certain mileage
Short answer is yes, there are stipulations that would make a driver exempt, but if your driving more than 150 mile radius from your city than these hours of service apply to you weather your a company driver, lease operator, owner operator, or coach bus driver.
If I am at a shipper waiting for them to open the door and I decided to take a 30 minute break and they open the door during that time. Can I move before my 30 minutes are up?
Does this apply to armored truck companies? Does the stops in between drop offs/pick ups count as drive time? If I punch in 6am- should I technically be done driving by 5pm, and done working by 8pm?
If I have a driver with me and I drive my 10 hours straight and have 3-4hrs to get to my destination left would I have to pull over shut the truck off and let my driver connect to the eld?
Once you pull over and go off duty or sleeper birth, you would log out, let your co driver log in in, he does a pre trip. And then he continues driving from the location you parked at
Good explanation, but you're wrong on 1 thing. Your break clock won't move because on duty time can be used now as a break. It doesn't change until you drive. That's how it used to be.
What if I drove my 11 hours + 30 min break + 15 min PTI, do I have to wait 2:15 until my shift ends? Or I can take my 10 hours SB, to get another 11 driving hours?
You can end your shift at anytime, you’re not required to finish the whole time, and after 10 hours of being off duty, or sleeper birth, you’re clock will refresh, 34 hours off duty or sleeper birth will refresh all clocks, and depending on who you drive for, they may allow you to do a split sleeper, I don’t do that tho, because I like my full rest and I still don’t completely know how to do it lol
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 yes! I came seeking this answer. How to get my 12hours drive time back. So I have to be off for 34hours for it to reset?
one question. how do you manage if you at a shipper or receiver and your time is running low or run out of time. can you still move to get out of the location of delivery or pickup location?
You should already have a plan, either plan to do a 10 hour break there on the facility, maybe parked off to side off the property, or if you have PC (personal conveyance), than you can use it to go to the nearest truck stop or rest area
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 Pretty sure you cant use PC to better your position. also i believe you have to be unladden to use PC and you have to return to the place that you started your PC to start your day you cant just start from the place you PC to..

When I had the Keep Truckin app at my old job it was soo much easier. I’m just lost now and I can’t do any longer runs with my current job without this app working. Any help is appreciated thanks.
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 Trying to use Motive, but I’m ok so far as my trips are under the 160km radius. I’m not eligible for the longer ones though so that sucks until my Motive is working
You’re not required to drive your full 11 hour clock, you can stop driving whenever you want, I’d suggest taking a full 10 hour break tho unless you’re familiar with running a split clock
Thank you so much. I would always make it to the truck stop at around 10 at night and there wouldn't be any spaces to park. So now I will try and change my time so I can be there earlier
My log- because loading etc, split slur.showed hrs available to the end of the day. I get a red line,on drive, for last segment.the next day it’s still there. I’m not a new driver, but I don’t understand this. I watched the screen all day,all day ,hrs avail. ? Can anyone explain ? Happened at least twice now.if your new ,I suggest you skip this question. Another video, confirmed the split, extends the 14.
New trucker and went on Violation for not understanding how this works my first day. Literally gassed up in the terminal because I got a truck on E and ran it out. Question. So let’s say I drive and stop and go on SB with hours left on drive and the 14hr goes down. Even while it’s counting down but I’m on SB, will it restart clock regardless after 10 or if I stop and clocks running down from 3hrs (14hr clock)do I have to wait for the 3 hours to go down for the 10hr break to start?
My trainer didn’t show me anything about clock management. Had me drive then after like 5hrs go on sleeper birth until whenever the next day/night and just did the month. Only said “watch your clocks”. Without mention that 14hr clock plays a big role
@@trustin752 your 14 hr clock should stop after being in SB for 2 hours, but it’ll reset after a 10hr break, some company’s may let you run a 8/2 split or a 7/3 split, if that’s the case, after 7 hours, you’ll get back those 3 hours left that you didn’t drive, and then you’ll have to take a 3 hour break (remainder of the 10 hour break since you already took a 7 hour break) to get the remainder of your full drive time back, it can get complicated, so I’d definitely recommend just getting a full 10 hour break before you start trying to figure out the split breaks, hope this helps
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 Yea my company does the whole split thing. I don’t get it so I think I’ll just stick with driving my hours and take the 10. Also, when I’m waiting to be loaded or unloaded, do I go off duty or put it on duty? My first load I just threw it on off duty..
@@trustin752 you should go “on Duty” to show your arrival, and then go off duty afterwards, I usually go on duty for 1 minute, then go off duty until I start back driving
Hey bro, very well explained on HOS but did you mention that if you take a 2 hour break or longer, you can extend your 14 hour clock? Just an observation....great video ✌️👍
Are you willing and able to analyze my logs from my ELD App? I am thinking of bringing a Lawsuit against my Company’s Provider. I am place in violation and have had to change things I am sure don’t need changing! Thanks
If you want you can send me some screen shots to my email and explain to me what’s been going on , unless what’s going on is obvious while looking at them TruckinWithBigDaddy@gmail.com
Go on duty when you arrive, and then go off duty a minute or two later, unless you’re doing a driver assist then you’re “supposed “ to be on duty…. The choice is yours but if you’re running OTR you really want to watch your clock, anytime that truck is not moving , you want to be off duty, or sleeper birth, unless you’re fueling or stuck in traffic.

Does this apply to armored truck companies? Does the stops in between drop offs/pick ups count as drive time? If I punch in 6am- should I technically be done driving by 5pm, and done working by 8pm?
Honestly Im not sure how armored truck companies work, I could of sworn their employees are hourly .
If we use the sleeper berth how many total hours of drive time will be available
I just got my license and im afraid once i get a job im gonna screw this up and get in trouble
Good explanation thanks
Thanks alot big brother 🙏
@@Dwaynebaileymusic You getting your 11h drive time back once you go SB or OFF DUTY for 10 consecutive hours.
I still dont understand
My 14 hr clock is still going down even though I put it in sleeper? 😭😭
Company is leaving me no choice but to break this rule anything I can do too help my situation with out loosing my job ??
one question. how do you manage if you at a shipper or receiver and your time is running low or run out of time. can you still move to get out of the location of delivery or pickup location?
You should already have a plan, either plan to do a 10 hour break there on the facility, maybe parked off to side off the property, or if you have PC (personal conveyance), than you can use it to go to the nearest truck stop or rest area
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 Pretty sure you cant use PC to better your position. also i believe you have to be unladden to use PC and you have to return to the place that you started your PC to start your day you cant just start from the place you PC to..
@@HEMI345375 I’m pretty sure you missed the whole point of what was asked, you might want to reread what he asked me, and then reread my reply again.
I need help please. I can login to my account just fine, but how do I get the Blue “LOG” square to appear? I don’t have that so I can’t change my duty status. When I had the Keep Truckin app at my old job it was soo much easier. I’m just lost now and I can’t do any longer runs with my current job without this app working. Any help is appreciated thanks.
What Elog are you using now?
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 Trying to use Motive, but I’m ok so far as my trips are under the 160km radius. I’m not eligible for the longer ones though so that sucks until my Motive is working
Can I stop driving for the day before my 11 hour? And then wake up earlier the next morning? So I'm not driving late the next day?
You’re not required to drive your full 11 hour clock, you can stop driving whenever you want, I’d suggest taking a full 10 hour break tho unless you’re familiar with running a split clock
Thank you so much. I would always make it to the truck stop at around 10 at night and there wouldn't be any spaces to park. So now I will try and change my time so I can be there earlier
@@Elmas7kStudios late at night, you’re best bet would be either park at your shipper or receiver, or try a rest area , service plaza
Do I need to end shift at the end of the day or hit skip I was told to end shift when I do my 34 hour reset
What about if your at a shipper and you know your gonna be 3/4 hours . Can you disconnect and do a sleeper birth?
Thank brother.
Does this apply to motorcoach drivers also?
New subscriber here.
Yes it’s for almost all Commercial Drivers, Semi Drivers, Bus Drivers, Dumps Truck, Hotshot
Passenger transport drivers have slightly different rules.
Anybody with a DOT number
Thank you
Are you willing and able to analyze my logs from my ELD App?
I am thinking of bringing a Lawsuit against my Company’s Provider.
I am place in violation and have had to change things I am sure don’t need changing!
Thanks
If you want you can send me some screen shots to my email and explain to me what’s been going on , unless what’s going on is obvious while looking at them

Question if you Drive 10 hours out the day for 7 days with a total of 70 hours do you have to reset..
You either have to do a reset, or run on recap hours.
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 Thank you!! I start my OTR Box Truck Job next week and want to soak up all the Knowledge I can regarding hos..
I work for Fedex and they allow me to be on the clock after 14 hours, but just not drive, and after reading the law, that looks accurate
Right on the $ video thanks, kyle
What do you do when your 14 hour clock is negative
Take a 10 and it'll reset, but you'll also have a log violation as well
@@mikestruckinwithbigdaddy5233 ok thanks
so if im doing dryvan and waiting to get loaded thats still on duty correct?
Go on duty when you arrive, and then go off duty a minute or two later, unless you’re doing a driver assist then you’re “supposed “ to be on duty…. The choice is yours but if you’re running OTR you really want to watch your clock, anytime that truck is not moving , you want to be off duty, or sleeper birth, unless you’re fueling or stuck in traffic.
