One thing to note is the 14hrs is not a max on-duty rule, you just can't drive after 14 consecutive hours of coming on duty. You don't have to finish post-trip inspection etc and "on-duty tasks" within the 14hrs, but they will count towards your 60 or 70, and of course your 10 hrs starts once you go off duty
Thank you. You made this easier to digest and understand. I will make a version of the charts you used and an HOS app to build my confidence/competence.
Great job! You explained it more simply than my trainer. The part on split sleep berth throws me off a little bit. I have to go back to it. I appreciate your help.
Hello thank u for ur video i was off 36 hours then started my shift at 1 pm i drove 7 hours then i make it off duty at 8 pm when i wake up early morning at 5:45 Am i start the engine then i waiting the reciever started work when i finished offload it took me one hour then i drove 2:5 hours i did not get the new 8 hours and 14 hours so i stay offduty at the shipper 10 hours but i did not do it sleeper berth just off duty
A driver can be On Duty even if the 14 or 70 is exhausted. There is no violation for being On Duty past the clocks. Drive puts a driver violation, On Duty will not. There is no 14 hour per day work limit.
Great video . I'm getting back in a truck after a two year absence and just came across this video . Do the new e logs calculate and take into consideration sleeper berth time and automatically show you what you will now have in terms of on duty and driving time available after being in the sleeper berth?
Ok, so how do you fill out the blanks on Daily Hours of Service? Are you suppose to do that? I just came back to drive and I'm learning this qualcom. I was doing paper logs when I had gotten off from trucking. So you go to your main menu. Click on Messages. Then click Compose and you'll see the Daily Hours of Service. When you click that, you will see 2 rows of blanks with date and time descrptions. Can you do a video on that. Nobody is mentioning it in their videos. I've been searching and nothing on that option.
@Trucking Made Successful Great tutorial(s) on HOS. Just a "post trip" that has to be flagged as on duty as well at the end of shift doesn't it? We have to have our guys show a Pre & Post trip on duty to be in compliance.
Hahaha I was confused as heck I was following minimum of 7 rest/sleep renews stops and or 14hours and same 2 to 3 hrs of rest/sleep renews does the two to three hours also stops the 14?
Yes and No. They tell you some of this information, but you also have to know it, or go into the Rules section of the elogs to get a refresher. If you aren't keeping track of your activities it isn't hard to get a HOS violation on the elog. They could make it better. Also, mine doesn't have a way to tell it I'm driving 2 extra hours due to adverse conditions, so not sure how that will go over if I ever have to use it.
So if you're on split sb and want to to go back to 10-14 you have to take 10hrs of consecutive sleeper berth or off duty to reset your hrs to drive again right?
So does that mean if I take 7hrs of sleep time after every 8hours of driving does that mean I can actually keep driving 8hours at a time after every 7hours of sleep time. Like 7hous of sleep/rest then drive for 8 hours then again sleep 7hours/rest off duty I get to do another 8hours of driving which would total driving time as 16 hours a day? Please let me know 🙏 I understand you have a company truck and drivers if you need one more driver let me know haha
There is the 150 mile rule; operating the truck within a 150 mile radius of it's home base/terminal will exempt you from needing a logbook. The age of the truck will not give you an exemption.
Sorry are driver supposed to take 30 minute break as clock clicks 0759 hrs of driving or as clock hits 0800 or past 0800 which is at 0900 hrs please kindly clarify that for me thank you
Why is it that after the 34h reset on the 7th and 8th day combined he doesn't go back to square one starting with 60h /7days ??..why he has the hours from day 1 ??
Your shift clock starts and does not stop until the 14 hours end even when you are off duty, on duty, driving, break, lunch, etc. The only time off duty is not counted towards the 14 hr shift is when the off duty is paired with a correct sleeper berth period (7/3 or 8/2) or after a 10 hr break. Hope this helps!
At the long runs I splittet it allways to 8 and 2 hours. Then I did not have to make the 30 minute break and could drive an half hour longer during the 24h. M.
Dunno, splits help me out a great deal. They are not that complicated at the end of the day. All you gotta do is subtract whatever you used from 14 and 11 to plan for the next part. Who does need to get fired tho is someone who decides they can hold up a truck at a dock for several hrs and expect the cargo to be delivered on time, safely and with a happy smile. My favorite part is trying to get rested while getting loaded a pallette at a time every 15-30 min.
What happens if I run out of hours on Day7? Can I still reclaim my 13.5 hrs from Day1 on Day8? You confuse things by throwing in a "non-working Day7", which is 24hrs. From your example it looks as if it would be atleast 34hrs from the end of shift on Day6 until he could start work on Day8 anyway....So this doesn't appear to help.
the 30 minute break rule proves the fact that the government is prejudice against truck drivers. Nowhere else in other businesses are employees penalized for taking any kind of lunch. Their lunch break means off duty and they are not paid for it. Drivers pay for it with lost time from the 14 hour clock. Be nice if a lawsuit could be filed for prejudicial treatment. - Scorpio
@@TruckingMadeSuccessful oh no, I know what it is. Been driving 21 years. I mean like now Days driver's just don't Care. There are so many regulations ETC are out on driver's and company's that we are like forget log's and all this crap.

What’s the rule for non drivers? Do we still have to follow any of these regulations?
What about clock reset after 2 hours off to reset 14 hour clock

If i own my own truck and i went to receiver to get unloaded once im done can i take empty to drop yard on PC?
Elogs keep track of all of this for you? Or you have to remember it on your on to stay compliant? I have my Cdl. Haven’t started driving yet though.

Thank you but according to driving 8 hours then 30 minutes break and according to the book is in driver sooo😊😊😊😊
If i own my own truck and park at my house, can i take it to shop on PC On one of my days off?
Are there exemptions to having to fill these forms out? Like under certain miles if your local and drive a truck thats older than the year 2000?

To do payroll in California, do i need any number from state?
Like California edd or anything. Please let me know
Yes absolutely
Can I have 1 hour rest on/before 8 hours instead of just 30 minutes?

How can we get access to the dispatch training that you put together?
I am working on making it available online and will make an announcement once that is complete!
Split sleeper berth made my head hurt

Where's the POST TRIPS??
Just work 8 hours a day everyday and don't kill yourself. Helps if you ain't got family or paying someone else's rent. Plenty of time to have fun.
Actually, they say you can't PC home just because you're empty. Weird. Apparently they want you to D to your "home terminal" then you can PC home
At 22:28, you claim the “Off Duty” time counts AGAINST the shift clock. Please confirm this IS NOT true?
