  • First off, I am not sponsored by Furls. 2 of my hooks were gifts from the wonderful, and beautiful Robbie. The 3rd hook was a surprise gift from Mr Cinnamon.
Hooks featured in this video are Furls Streamline, Furls Streamline Swirl, and Furls Odyssey. The prices are listed in the video.
Here is a link to the website.
    furlscrochet.com/
Again. not sponsored. they dont even know I am making this video.
Also, the opinions in this video are my own. my honest opinions. I do not expect you to substitute my judgement for your own.
As I am uploading this video, I am actually using the Andromeda hook. And its way better on a smoother yarn. I am quite enjoying working with it. I even had to frog an hours worth of work, and was able to make up the work in just 20 minutes with this hook. I will probably update my review of the Resin hook, at a later date. After I work with it more and really get to know it. Its so pretty and it does feel good in my hand. and of course, I am using Premier yarns with it.. makes a huge difference.
Thank you for watching my review.

FURLS are the reason I was able to get back into crochet. I have carpal tunnel and some arthritis and my hands hurt so bad I had stopped crocheting. I bought 2 of the wood Streamline hooks and I LOVE mine! I can now crochet for hours without all the pain, ergonomic hooks are a life saver!
    I am saving for a G...lol

I just want to say thank you... I've seen many people who rave about the Furl's...but they have affiliate links or whatever... and never know - IS this an honest review or are they selling something? You told us outright that you would never spend that much $ on a hook - which I can TOTALLY relate to... And you told us the good AND the bad (which none that I have seen have done)... So, THANK YOU....I truly appreciate your honesty...And I'm really starting to love your channel :D

After 45 years of crocheting I decided to splurge and bought a couple of Furls streamline hooks last Thanksgiving during a sale. I loved them so much that I now own a full set of multi colored Odyssey hooks, a full set of wooden streamlines, a few Swirls (Cafe, Andromeda, Holly and Blue acrylic). I’ve purchased all of them during sales. I’m very lucky that I have the income to afford these hooks but they will be my go to hooks for ever. And they have a lifetime guarantee. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to try them. No more tired achy hands ( I use a pencil grip). Which hook I use depends on the yarn. So glad to see you building your collection Jennifer.

You are right about being nervous about the resin Streamlines. I ordered 5 of them. One came with a chipped tip, and the other broke with minimal use on the same day. they were size 5mm and 5.5mm. I returned the whole lot. I was disappointed because they were pretty and they did work well until they broke. But they do break so easily. Buyer beware!!

I am so impressed by your perceptive and honest approach to the use and construction of the hooks. You have given your honest perspective of form and function. That really bears weight on why I should buy and use them. Thank you so much. GOOD JOB. WONDERFUL JOB. EXCELLENT JOB. Your analysis was amazing.

I love my Furls Odyssey, they are beautiful and comfortable. They are a little more expensive but they are worth the investment. I had trouble with 5 of the 6 hooks I bought with defects on them. Furls sent a whole new batch and I didn't have to return the defected products!!! They are into customer satisfaction 100%!!
Thank you for a great and honest review. Enjoy your projects with them.

I have three Furls hooks; I started with a streamline 6.00mm b/c I was SO impressed by how light it was. After my carpal tunnel surgery I wanted to get back to crochet so badly but would not have been able to pick up the odyssey hook then. B/c of the price I went to a streamline swirl a year later; for my birthday I received an odyssey. I LOVE THESE HOOKS!!!!!! The price got me at first; yes. I could not agree more that when you find the one that works for your style it is like night & day. My family thinks I am bonkers but what else is new. Thank you for doing this review! :)

I love love love Furls . I too had wanted some forever. I finally told my husband thatbifvhe could spend ten bucks a pack for cigarettes countless times a month, then I was going to spend forty bucks one month and get two of the streamline hooks that had just been out for about a month. There gave been loads more if them I would like to get but l have to wait till the time is right . My husband and I became homeless last year. Long story short, we lost everything I had for my whole life. Everything that I had worked for my whole life. I say me and mine cause when I met and married my husband he was homeless. The only thing he had to his name was his back pack and a black garbage bag with a few odds pieces of clothing. So when we lost everything, it didn't phase him a bit. Then a few months ago we lost our car. But at least I own the mobile home we live in now. We are slowly getting things for the house. And I know it's not important for my survival, but I want to get my streamline hooks replaced. The Andromeda is one I'm on live with and the red swirled one. I can never remember the name. But mainly, Furls are pricey but they are worth it. Every penny. Yeah, I can get some pretty plastic ones at Hobby lobby. And their real fancy ones are like eleven dollars, the larger size ones are more expensive, but compared to Furls, Furls wins hands down.

Thanks for this great review, Jennifer. I know this video is old but I kept hearing and debating about buying Furls since I first heard about them 2 years ago. I'm super frugal so this was a tough decision for me. I watched so many videos and read so many blogs but THIS video gave me all the information I needed. I just ordered the Odyssey in all the sizes I use. I'm super excited! Yes, it's an investment (even with the new customer discount) but I figured that my love of crochet isn't going away after 40 years. Of course, this means I can't buy any yarn for 3 months since that ate my yarn budget 😀💰

Nice honest review. Thanks Jennifer. As an older woman with mild arthritis, I think I’ll stick with my old tried & true aluminum ergonomics. I think the heavy one would wear me out.
As far as Scarlet goes paint (or rub) cayenne pepper on whatever she chews that she shouldn’t. First take the cayenne & give her a sniff. Then spread it around! If she digs, pepper the ground too. Cayenne will not hurt her, it’s a deterrent. This advise is reputable from my old (retired, maybe passed) vet. You can also use jalapeño or red chili peppers. Anything that has a pungent smell & bad taste because dogs have several thousand times the scent & taste receptors we humans do. Another tip is to get a bottle of “stop bite.” It’s a nail polish type of solution that nail biters use. The taste is so bad & kinda stinging that it breaks the nail biting habit. (Don’t laugh) I put this stuff on my youngest who refused to give up sucking his thumb. Had him broke within two days! It won’t hurt Scarlet in the least. Paint your Furls hook you use. Once she get the taste in her mouth you’ll be able to put the hook in front of her & she’ll run!! Just a little advice from a puppy mama of 50 yrs. Be blessed & btw, the sweater is fantastic. You did a great job! The colors are perfect together, she’ll be proud to wear it 😃

Oh I dream big. I bought one hook, the streamline and I do love it. It is so beautiful and sleek and the finish is amazing. I used to refinish wood furniture and never accomplished that fine a finish, The closest I came was repeat applications of varnish with OO steel wool sanding between coats. I have the same problem with snagging on some of those cheaper yarns that do not have a good twist on the yarn. I use Susan Bates which is an in-line hook. I notice when you go into the stitch you go in point first. On the in line you will see it starts to go in right at the end on the back part. I insert the hook from the back where in starts to go in instead of point first. It doesn't hang yarn up on the hook part. I changed to the in-line cuz it takes less wrist action, I broke my wrist and didn't have insurance so just used a brace, but lost the range of motion in my wrist It doesn't bend without much pain. I was danged if I was going to give up crocheting, Just and Idea to try. Love your channel.

I have one of the Furls wood hooks, I won it in a giveaway. I tried to crochet some thin yarn with it, I just didn't care for the yarn. Thank you for the review Jennifer.

Enjoyed this review. A bit pricey. I just invested in the clover hooks when they were on sale and really loving them. I would probably try one of these just to see. The red one caught my eye the most. Thank you. ❤

Deborah Comrie I couldn’t use the furl andromeda. The clovers are a better hook for me.

Hi Jennifer, That is so funny, I have the same hook but my hook is a J. I'm not a fan of furls, well I had to modify the hooks to use them. Love your daughters sweater.

First, I love love love your daughter's sweater!!! It's beautiful and the colors are gorgeous together! Now onto the furls hooks. Thank you for doing this review. Like you, I have seen many recommendations for them but no reviews. I'm on very limited income due to a disability. And I have problems with both hands, wrists, well all the way up to and including the neck. Not related to my disability. To me, crochet is my mental therapy and how I get through my days. I have to use ergonomic hooks. I have clover hooks, not the soft touch ones, and I love them. I thought of them as an investment. But of course, there could be something more comfortable, right? I bit the bullet and spent the money to get 2 of the streamline variety. I got size I in cream and size H in cookie. I have used the H more, but I can't say that I am really impressed with either. Maybe in time, they will grow on me. Thank you for the head's up about the Odyssey being heavier. I was going to save up for one of those, but I wouldn't be able to deal with the weight issue. And I'm just not sure about the solid wood hooks. Oh, and like you, I'm a little concerned about the tip flexibility of the acrylic hooks. Thanks again, Jennifer!

Nice review! I have several of the wooden hooks (not the streamline) that I asked for for Christmas from Furls. I love those hooks. There are some yarns that I don’t use the wood with because of some dragging. My favorite metal is the Etimo. I’m definitely going to try the Furls metal from your review. I also recently purchased an resin from Furls but haven’t had a chance to use it yet. There are a lot of you tubers that rave about the Clover Amour which I also have. Those are the last hooks in my collection that I use. To each his own I guess. 🧶

I have one Odyssey and multiple wood streamlines as well as multiple streamline swirls. The Odyssey is a bit heavy for me so I use it only on certain projects with particular yarn but I agree, slippery yarn is difficult with it. I have had hooks break but never while crocheting, I dropped a couple resin ones directly on their tips on my hard tile floor. Furls replaced them immediately. That said, we are talking about 2 hooks out of probably 15 hooks. The wood streamlines I have found become smoother as I use them. They also feel soft in the hand but I do oil them so they don't dry out. The streamline swirls are wonderful. I know you are leery of the give in the tip but I have had wonderful luck with them. They are very smooth and I get going almost as fast with them as I do the Odyssey hook but it was a learning curve with shaft being longer and the hook being sharp. I did 2 puff hats and 2 cluster scarves with the swirls and once I was used to the yarn and the hook together I had very few problems with it splitting or catching. I hope you find you enjoy them all eventually. I have been thinking of making a video of my favorite supplies for my different hobbies and these hooks will definitely be in the list! Edited to add: Furls has a video of hand exercises to help loosen up the hands and minimize pain. furlscrochet.com/pages/crochet-hand-exercises

I have the same wooden one you have. I'm a Boyde fan. Been using them since I was a child. Took me a while to get used to the Furls. The more you use it the smoother the sharp hook gets.

I love my Furl's hooks. I have some of each of the Odyssey, streamline, and resin. I'm using a resin hook right now with bernat velvet yarn and it's so easy!! Furl's had some great sales, so watch out for them!
