You're still mean for getting me hooked on Furls. 😂 My Furls are mostly seconds. I do have ONE that isn't a 2nd. And....I want to marry it LOL
I completely agree with you. The Seconds are definitely worth picking up if you don’t want to pay full price. I love my Furls Swirls, I have you to thank for changing my mind about them. They are expensive but for a great reason 🥰💯
How do you find their "seconds"?
@@angelaharris1112 they call them “ Perfectly Imperfect”. Currently they are sold out of the Solar Flare Seconds and the Taurus Seconds.
They break at the tips. I bought several Furl’s hooks and when unpacking the box, the tip of one broke off. It happens. I contacted Furl’s and they refused to replace it. I offered to send the hook back, but no. They accused me of “not storing the hook properly.” I was just taking it out of the box! Never again. Even their ‘seconds’ are higher priced.

I received what I could see was a damaged hook. It wasn’t broken but looked like it had a crack. Since they have a base here in Texas I called them and left a message that my hook was defective. They didn’t call me back. A week later I was using it, got through 4 rows and it broke in use. I emailed them my order number and explained that I had called, but hadn’t heard back from anyone. Gina was very nice 😊 She asked for a picture of the hook, I provided it, and the same day she shipped my new 5mm, H hook. No problems no accusations, just awesome customer service. They even had a tote issue and I wasn’t receiving my totes with my purchase, 1 email and it was resolved.
I don’t know how long ago this happened to you, but I guarantee that is not how Furls operates now.
If you buy from a third party, like one of the yarn companies, furls will not honor their warranty.
@@Desaundrea it was this past Winter. I’d read that Furl’s had good CS, but my experience was anything but that. I purchased several, only one broke. It’s their response that lost them a repeat customer.
@@RoamingwithRover I purchased directly from Furl’s. Purchased several hooks and yarn in one purchase. Their yarn is fabulous but I won’t buy from them again.
@@RoamingwithRover You mean if you purchase from an unauthorized seller of their hooks….. I’ve only heard about them having approved and authorized sellers and those hooks are covered. In one of my crochet groups a lady said she received one as a gift, her child broke it, and though she was not the purchaser, they replaced it for her. 🤷🏽♀️
I have a 5 mm hook and a 10 mm hook. Both are furl's odyssey. I love them!!!!
Even the brown hook is pretty IMVHO

Hi Jennifer, I had a hook come where the color was off like the amber/brown you showed & Furls took care of it for me. They e-mailed me a pre-paid label to ship it back for replacement. 🙂💜
LOL, you're so funny. I'm one of those people who LOVE that brown hook. I would trade you for my K hook if it wasn't wooden. I picked up M & N hooks on the last "seconds" sale that were supposed to be off-color and mis-labeled. They are the Solar Flare colorway and gorgeous, and they are labeled perfectly. I have 2 taurus and two solar flare seconds. 3 of them are missized and the last one is an "imperfect" solar flare 10 mm hook. It's almost solid orange. It's very pretty!
This is the furls video i needed. I considered their seconds hooks before, but was intimidated by the missized thing. I have no idea how to check the size of a hook, so it being stamped wrong, i had no idea how i would know. It helps to know they write it on the box, telling you it's true size.
I crochet tight and usually go up a size or two in hooks "to meet gauge", so having a 5.3 (or whatever it would be) instead of a 5, i wouldn't care.
I'm going to jump on that band wagon now, next time they have them. I bought the boye knock offs and they are my back up to the back up to the 3rd string back up hooks.

I’m just happy being able to find my regular old hooks. These hooks are out of my budget lol
I have never used a furls hook but I crochet with the pencil hold and I have read that it's not so good with that hold and the yarn slips...but I would like to try one..because I used to use bates and thought they were great..until I got my tulips and clovers that was a game changer for me..😀♥️

The Furls hooks look great but I wonder if they squeak when using acrylic yarn? Any noise like that annoys me beyond anything. Like a constant squeak in an automobile in the dash where you end up wanting to beat your dash, trying to get it to stop, especially on long drives.

The only issue with the wrong size hook is the need to continue to use the "same" hook throughout the project. It would not bother me at all. I rarely use hooks or needles over 4mm. I’d like furls (handles) on smaller hooks. Odyssey looks amazing but price wise, unattainable for me.

I love my Furls!!! I need to replace my G+ Pride hook my lovely son knocked off of the counter and it broke.That was the first hook I bought, your shoulda been seconds. I'm not big on the switching either.

I have 2 Furls Odyssey hooks. Im still working on getting used to them. They're really nice hooks--just heavier than I'm used to using.

My Taurus hook definitely should’ve been a second. I was soooo disappointed when I opened the box, it was the one hook I was super pumped about because of the pink and blue swirls, but mine has hardly any visible swirling, just mostly purple. I kept seeing the awesome hooks everyone online was getting and was just so bummed. I am waiting for the next order in the mail, i ordered 4 swirls--and if these have no swirls like the other, I think I’ll be done collecting from Furls.
I love, love, love my Furls Odyssey hooks…in fact if I try to crochet without them my hand and wrist just ache like crazy…I never knew they did “2nd’s” so I’ll have to be on the lookout for those in the future…I’ve wanted to try the resin hooks but I tend to crochet very tight and I’m worried about possibly snapping one…

I’m a bit bias on the Taurus because that’s my zodiac sign lol so of course I love it. I think the brown is suppose to be Aries that is so off and should be a second. I think the newest one is the Aquarius. I have to keep checking furls for the seconds so I can get my hands on one.

Glad to see this! I had my first furl and didnt make it through the project without it breaking. But they’re sending a replacement! I thought same for mismarked. But didnt think it would be messed up color as well

I am not picky about colors, but the hook has to work. If I use it and it works, it's good.
For sticker issues i put a dab of clear nail polish on the end. Or if you lost it you can paint the letter near the end you dont touch that end while working any way. Again nail polish seems to work. You just have to keep it from rolling while it drys.
It's just insulting to the customers that they even NEED to do that.
At that price point, a sticker is cheap a$$ and a slap in the face to paying customers.
That's one reason why I haven't gotten the Odyssey hooks, though I love the swirls.
Listened too the pod cast today. Apparently they will send new sticker if it falls off. So contact them.

I usually get messed up color. I thought wrong size meant it could be a K and marked G.
I've found the stickers stay om better if I paint the bottom with clear nail polish.
I still have not yet tried a Furls hook.

I've never tried the Furls. The price scares me, if I don't like it! 😬 I'm also scared of breaking the resin hooks. Do they ever have seconds for the metal ones? 🤔
They do have a 90 day return policy so you have time to try the hook and adjust to it and then, if you don't like it, they will exchange or receive it back free of charge for a full refund if the return is within 90 days. Risk free if you ask me.

Yes, my "red" swirl hook should have been a "seconds" too, it has most of that brownish and just a little red, I was so very disappointed because I bought it in memory of my mother as Red was her favorite color.🙁
You should contact them for a replacement.
I like working on flat pieces ponchos, blankets, shawls, scarves, hats, cowls, so to me size doesn't matter

Being I use the pencil grip I’d love to try Furls Seconds to try out first before buying a full price one. Although, I would like to try out a streamline one, they’re so nice looking. Call me crazy but a second with a color mistake and in-between size at half price would be like getting a birthday present, nobody else would have one like it, one of a kind .
I often think that hooks from different companies are slightly different in size even though they are supposed to be the same. Does anyone ever measure the size of the hook (I Don't). Think we just believe what it says and personally I don't think 2 or 3 millimetres would make enough difference to care, as long as you use the same hook throughout the project.
Must say that Furls hooks are very attractive. Maybe would buy one in sale just to see how it works.
I wonder if LYS might try letting customers try them with a view to purchase, like trying on a pair of shoes?

I have quite a few Furls hooks already (almost all of them wood or resin Streamlines). If I were to buy their seconds, I would probably go with the "imperfect color" ones, as weirdly colored wouldn't bother me as much as mis-sized hooks would. I haven't seen the Boye "Furls knockoffs" at Walmart; where are they available?
I found them at Joann's not Walmart. They are actually on sale this week for $6.39 I believe.
