Nostalgia hits hard when the local radio station plays this in the late afternoon and you're reminded of the great years of the early 2000s while simultaneously slowly dying inside from a 9-5 job.
You know what you are inside king. That 9-5 is only going to make you more sick and tired. Live your life how you want.

This is one of those songs that when you close your eyes, for almost 4minutes you’re not in 2023 anymore. You’re in high school. You’re driving around at night with friends, 5bucks in gas, no destination and endless laughs. You have no worries. And then the song ends. And that part of you goes back to sleep.
I used to love to drive around with no destination, listening to music, that was long before gas became $5 a gallon!

Notice how when he says "fall" it's drawn out like he's falling, then "away" is quick, like it went away fast
Amazing use of phrasing
That's because it wouldn't sound right if the fall part was short and away was long. It has to do with matching the words to the music. You don't write music to match words.

This song brings back memories, and this video hit me pretty hard. I was pregnant with our son and at 30 weeks gestation I suffered a placental abruption. We were bleeding out and had to have an emergency csection. I'll never forget being run to the OR, the look on my parents faces, giving my husband a last kiss. The doctor gave us a combined 35% chance of survival. Now our son is completing his electrician apprenticeship and I couldn't be prouder of him. This video couldn't be any more closely related if I'd directed it.

I hate autotuning, 90's didn't have the best singers but those singer had confidence, they knew if you were listening, you wanted to hear them. They didn't smooth out the roughness, or flat notes.

@@jthizzle4013 Cobain is a legend but to be honest, compared to smells like teen spirit, hemorrhage for me is a more challenging song because it has many and quick note transitions which compels the singer to use their raspy style of voice and if you're not careful with it, you might sing it wrong and out of tune. Therefore, I can say that Brett sings his song perfectly.

Songwriter Carl Bell on the meaning behind this song: "When I was younger, my grandmother got cancer. By the time they found it, it was much too late. Instead of sitting in some hospital, she wanted to go home and be home. And my mother and my aunts and their husbands went to sit with her at home. A few months passed, and the cancer had spread, it had eaten up most of her body and all of her hope, and it was a bad time. One particular day was a really bad day for her. My mother was sitting with her that evening, and she turned to my mom, and said, ‘How do you die?’ It crushed my mom, and it’s still crushing me."
I'm sorry to hear that bro I understand my grandma died in 2018 bc of cancer they got rid of it it was hell for her and after months in the hospital she died it's crazy bc it's hard to believe there gone

This is one of the best songs ever made. Lyrics, composition, chord progression. Just a rare gem.
I loved this video as well as the timeless song … it came out in 2000 .. lots of imagery of orange & blue, in clothes, in the set walls, the singer’s beautiful blue eyes, the actors’ orange & blue … I had returned to University of Florida around then for business school … it all just hit me right. Met my husband there. Now it’s been 23-24 years and I have 2 sons in college. Where does the time go? Holy moly.
"She cries her life is like
Some movie in black and white
Dead actors faking lines
Over and over and over again she cries..."
Literary brilliance
Carl Bell wrote this about his grandmother who died of cancer. I've always loved this song, but it wasn't until November 2019 when my dad died of intestinal cancer that I REALLY connected with it. I can also play it on guitar. DON'T FALL AWAY, AND LEAVE LOVE BLEEDING IN MY HANDS, IN MY HANDS, LOVE LIES BLEEDING!
My father also died that year due to internal bleeding from a past intestinal surgery. He had cancer and didnt tell any of us, unfortunately. My heart goes out to you ❤
My dad passed from stage 4 colon cancer in 2013 and I didn't even think of this song contecting as such until now, you both gave me goosebumps!
Yes Sir…
Thank you Poet and Elocinmc you guys are awesome! It's wonderful how music connects all of us.
never noticed how much emotion he sang with
exactly 💯
@Kwikky,. It's 4 years later. I'm 30 now but I promise we are still jamming this song at 28th of June 2024. 🎉. One love bro
I never actually saw them before. All these years I've been jamming, I thought they were much older. His voice sounds like it's been here forever.
They're not that young. This song came out 24 years ago. The lead singer is 52 now. We are just getting old lol I'm 32 and remember when this song first came out
This song is iconic. It's always fresh. I never get sick of hearing it. Hats off to the boys for writing a flawless rock tune.
You know it's a good song when even the bridge is memorable. They must have KNOWN this was gold when they first wrote it.
+freddybeer Absolutely. They definitely had a moment when they all looked at each other and smiled.
+freddybeer IN THE 90S ROCK DID FIND A SOFTER SISDE BUT FOR A GOOD REASON, LIKESOME ONE SAID THEY WERE TIRED OF HEROIN ROCK!!I THINJK THATS WHY MUSIC THAT WAS MALOTIC CAME OUT!!!!!
Blessed us 80's kids 'cause we grew up with the best decade in music/arts ever and turned into young adulthood with the 90s.

At the end of the the gitaur solo he looked into my life for one moment. (Holding the mike).I have to see that look every day. Check it out. Don't blink.
This 100% should’ve been in the Romeo + Juliet movie from the 90s
I’m so glad I found this song today it’s amazing
Older I get the more I appreciate 90s music. Class of 94, best rock and country in that decade!
@SC1157 got'em
I was in high school when this song came out. I'm 35 now. Still an amazing song! Oh the memories and feelings that I associate with this song.
WOW you are pretty 😻
@@tamparocks That's nice of you to say. 😊
Same, 36
Sarah Gullion I am 36 and yes this song brings back memories for me too!!!
I used to have this cassette tape and I played the crap out of it , especially this song . I'm 51 years old , and I rock out more now than ever before , and it is really fun !!!!
I remember often seeing this clip on a local music channel in 2010-2012, when this usually hit airplay in Italy on summer nights, I was just a kid and didn't understand the lyrics, though they made me feel like sad and shady for some reason. Now that I'm a young man I understand, and most of all, feel, every note and every word of this song...
This is by far the greatest song known to humankind.
I feel like you can only nail this song by singing with a certain emotion that this guy has.
DEVILxMAYxCRYx5, I feel like I can nail it.
