I consider "Fuel" one of the most underrated rock bands in history.
They definitely deserved a lot more recognition than they have to date.
"Shimmer", for example, is without a doubt one of the best songs of the entire post-grunge era.

The funny thing is that Hemorrhage (in my hands) was actually their peak. That is crazy, because they had so much good music over the years. "Shimmer" will always be my favorite though. It has such a great sound, plus I connect with the story. Damn Fuel was good.

Probably. But the reason why I feel the 90’s were special was because it was the last decade before technology and social media ruined so much shit. It was the last time where people actually hung out with each other. Not fucking glued to their god damn phone all the time. It was the last decade where parks were filled with people playing basketball. Kids riding around in their bikes. And so much more. That simply doesn’t exist anymore. That’s why the 90’s are so special.

She calls me from the cold
Just when I was low, feeling short of stable
    And all that she intends
And all she keeps inside, isn't on the label
    She says she's ashamed
And can she take me for awhile?
Can I be a friend, we'll forget the past
    Maybe I'm not able
And I break at the bend
We're here and now, but will we ever be again
    'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
    Away again
    She dreams a champagne dream
Strawberry surprise, pink linen and white paper
    Lavender and cream
Fields of butterflies, reality escapes her
She says that love is for fools who fall behind
    And I'm somewhere in between
    I never really know
    A killer from a savior
'Til I break at the bend
We're here and now, but will we ever be again
    'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade

A time where songs like these, STP, Days Of The New, Creed and other bands of the such were the jams. Great memories of that time. It is sad to see where rock has went to in going on 17 years. Lyrics
She calls me from the cold
    Just when I was low
    Feeling short of stable
    All that she intends
    And all she keeps inside
    Isn't on the label
    She says she's ashamed
Can she take me for a while?
    Can I be a friend?
    We'll forget the past
    Or maybe I'm not able
And I break at the bend
    We're here and now
    Will we ever be again?
    'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
    Away again
    She dreams a champagne dream
    Strawberry surprise
    Pink linen on white paper
    Lavender and cream
    Fields of butterflies
    Reality escapes her
    She says that love
Is for fools that fall behind
    And I'm somewhere between
    I never really know
    A killer from a savior
'Til I break at the bend
    We're here and now
    Will we ever be again?
    'Cause I have found
All that shimmers in this world is sure to fade
    Away again
It's too far away for me to hold
    Too far away
It's too far away for me to hold
    Too far away
    Ah-ow
Yeah, it's too far away for me to hold
    Too far away, ah-ow
It's too far away for me to hold
    Too far away
It's too far away for me to hold
    Too far away, ah-ow
It's too far away for me to hold
    Too far away
    Guess I'll let it go

"She says that love / is for fools that fall behind"
That one line will forever associate this tune with 'that one girl'.
I wanted her. She loved it, but would always run away; maybe b/c what I brought scared her. I'd get over her (sorta), and then she'd come back into my orbit when whoever she was with/chasing didn't work out, but stayed "too far away for me to hold". And once we finally got together she did her best to make sure it wouldn't work.
And then it was over. Two years now.
    "Guess I'll let it go...."

There was something really grown up about alternative music in mid and late 90s and I miss it so much and wish we had it all over again. After this it became very juvenile with, blink 182, sum 41 and such, not that I didn't enjoy it but it becomes unrelated-able where this is timeless yet at the same time you know it's 90s.
