My mom is listening to Matchbox 20, I come from 90s/2000s pop punk. But I appreciate every single person that is listening to music with instruments. Strange to say something like this because for me if youre Talking about music it implies that that there are instruments included.
But well music has died since a decade.

Rob Thomas is amazing, man deserves way more credit as a singer/songwriter and musician in general. His voice is spectacular
Absolutely agree! Honestly find his voice very good too!
Besides, Rob Thomas is one of the handsomest rock musicians ever. He hasn't even been faded a bit in his good look& attitude until now!
+David H No, he didn't lose his status, he just writes songs for other artists now. He prefers doing that instead of performing himself although he does still perform, song writing is his real passion from my understanding.
Amen brother!
Jillybean couldnt agree more!
I think that just broke my heart. Rob has such intensity in his eyes and in the words he sings.. they both bare his soul.

Absolutely!! I remember seeing this video and thought the same. I felt he wasn't singing a song as a Rockstar, but as an abuse survivor. It hards when you live this song because the ear hears, but the soul remembers. It's a pain that come to the surface. Hard to hold tears back.

Ah, the 90s feel like a distant memory, but songs like this bring those years back.
I miss the 90s sooo much! The last “real” generation. Everything went to crap after the late 90s
100th up-vote for you! Yea, there's much I miss about the 90s (great decade) and the music is definitely one of them.
The 90s was a special time, and people then didn’t even realize how good times where, even the struggles were more manageable.
Wise words.
so true. I am a true child of the 90s and never understood the luck i had for being alive then.

@@AnoukDrenth-e7gI try my best not to hang onto the part but it has a different nostalgia that nothing can come close too. I’ve tried to fill that void but being young with family in that time no phones no internet issues drama. Family’s loving and spending real time together. Social media has ruined that nostalgia for future generations.
That’s because the 90s was the peak of our golden age - the era from the 1950ws to the 2000s

Matchbox 20 was one of the most iconic rockbands of the 1990s.
Push is still so amazing to listen to nowadays even more than when i first heard it 20 years ago.
Absolutely spectacular song!!!!!
Why can't they make good music nowadays!? All they would have to do is imitate say matchbox 20...or even led Zeppelin...but they make SHIT.
You want my opinion? We live in the postmodern world. Good music is not allowed to make it to the top. All genres btw. Similar to why Movies and script writing is terrible in recent years.

Summer of ‘97.... I turned 15 in August that year and this song will forever take me back. Legit was the last summer truly being a kid,. I grew so much in all aspects that summer. Went from riding bikes to our buddies and daily nonsense to chasing girls, first legit g/f, parties... just a social explosion. - I ran in to this former g/f recently and told her this song will always remind me of her. - 24 years ago.... seemingly another lifetime.... so much has happened since... yet this song is forever cemented in time and into my memory to a time when the world seemed so much slower and we had our whole lives in front of us.... I always have and always will stop and turn up the volume when I hear them start to play those first few chords. Always.
I feel that.
My father passed away at 53 back in 2016 when I was 18. I played basketball from the time I could walk as my dad was known in my very small hometown as one of the greats to ever play at the high school. My dad used to drive me to travel ball games around the local south-central KY area when I was about 8 or so. We would always jam out to matchbox 20 to games with his truck full of all my buddies/teammates jamming along. Memories you just can’t ever forget. RIP Dad

This song is relatable for me also :(
I used to like this song also and then I read the lyrics. Did you actually read all of them? The lyrics are extremely toxic and it's exactly how narcissistic individuals behave in relationships. Only very toxic people would try to push their partner down or anyone else down because they feel bad about themselves and their own lives. That kind of behavior in any relationship is absolutely sick and toxic and is called emotional abuse. Just FYI, in case you were unaware.
Absolutely agree with you Andrea. But unfortunately it’s more common than it should be, toxic/abusive relationships- hence why so many people may be able to relate to the lyrics to some degree 😐

Man, that line has punched me in the heart for like twenty years.
Rite!!!!!
Think if u. Cassadee
Matchbox 20 defined the 90s in music.
When he sings the lyrics "And I don't know if I've ever been really loved
By a hand that's touched me" 😔
I FEEL that in my soul ❤
Me too.!!!!
Same
R u catholic?
Same. ❤️
I have had these lyrics playing in my head/heart for a couple of days, they make sense to me right now.
The most underrated bands! Rob Thomas is as real and soulful as it gets! My all time favorite groups and song!!! Are u still listening? Kickass!!!
Lyrics
Said I don't know if I've ever been good enough
I'm a little bit rusty, and I think my head is cavin' in
And I don't know if I've ever been really loved
By a hand that's touched me
And I feel like something's gonna give
And I'm a little bit angry, well
This ain't over, no, not here
Not while I still need you around
You don't owe me, we might change, yeah
Yeah, we just might feel good
I wanna push you around
Well, I will, well, I will
I wanna push you down
Well, I will, well, I will
I wanna take you for granted
Well, I wanna take you for granted
Yeah, yeah, well, I will
She said I don't know why you ever would lie to me
Like I'm a little untrustin'
When I think that the truth is gonna hurt ya
And I don't know why you couldn't just stay with me
You couldn't stand to be near me
When my face don't seem to want to shine
'Cause it's a little bit dirty, oh, well
Well, don't just stand there, sayin' nice things to me
'Cause I've been cheated, I've been wronged and you
You don't know me, yeah, well, I can't change
Well, I won't do anything at all
I wanna push you around
Well, I will, well, I will
I wanna push you down
Well, I will, well, I will
I wanna take you for granted
Yeah, I wanna take you for granted
Yeah, yeah, well, I will
Oh, but don't bowl me over
Just wait a minute, well, it kinda fell apart, things
Things get so crazy, crazy
Don't rush this, baby
Don't rush this, baby, baby
I wanna push you around
Well, I will, well, I will
I wanna push you down
Well, I will, well, I will
I wanna take you for granted, yeah, yeah, yeah
I wanna take you, take you
Yeah, well, I will
I will, I will, I will, yeah
Well, I will, well, I will, yeah
Push you around
And drag you down
I wanna push you around
Well, I will
I don’t know any of you either, but this music means you’re a good empathetic person
🔥
I love it that this is Ken's favorite song. I hear ya, bro.
I was bullied a lot as a kid. When this song came out in 1996, and especially after I saw the music video for it, I really connected to it. It was time for me to stop letting people walk over me. I took control of my life.
Songs can really do that to you. Congrats bro.
LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I was in middle school when this song came out and had the same problem with bullies and people who just treated me like crap. This song really helped me out too and I'm so happy for you! :)
My heart goes out to you Steven and I am glad that you felt empowered to take control of your life.I think bullies are actually criminal and should be prosecuted. If it would make you feel better, I remember Eddie Vetter (lead singer of Pearl Jam) once pointed out to the crowd as they were performing that a lot of the visible crowd contained guys that would bully him when he was in school. I think this shows that the world does turn and the bullies are not the ones always in control.Best to you!
Vegan Pop Tarts Best. Username. Ever.
It's so awesome that Rob was able to turn things around and create music from pain. 🙏👍
I've never heard of this group but now that I listen to every song I simply think that they have it all 👏👏👏💜💜
Thank you barbie from bringing up one of my favorite songs from the 90s.
So many years have passed but this song still hits so hard. This era is the best.
I remember myself as a kid watching this music video thinking this was the greatest thing I had ever heard. Incredible how 25+ years flew by but the sentiment is the exact same.
30 years later I finally understand the meaning of this song because Im living it. Its about suffering emotional abuse in a relationship. This by far is my favorite 90's song and never gave the lyrics attention until now. Music has the power to heal and it found me once going through it. Im grateful.
Rob's voice gives me Goosebumps ❤️ Ken we give it up for Rob Thomas
Ken we all give Matchbox 20 their 🌺💐💝 I'm so happy a new generation is learning about this Masterpiece ❤️ Matchbox 20 is Forever ♾️♾️ Thank Goodness we can listen nonstop. Til Infinity and Beyond ❤️
I’ve heard this song for years and years. Ever since it came out actually. And right now, here in 2021 these lyrics are what i need right now.
“This ain’t ain’t over. No not here. Not while i still need you around”
I feel that in my soul. Love is so hard
I don’t know if I’ve ever been really loved how many people know that feeling
You do realize, in the song, it's a statement based on her manufactured insecurity which she then uses to justify HER abuse of the man that has stood by her despite her cruelty. I mean, you all get that right?
Well if ask me any song can effect people differently. I'm sending some love your way though. I have a saying I learned from a wise turtle once apon a time. Goes "yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift.. that is why it is called the present ". Love finds you at one point or another in life. Something you can't force or predict. It happens naturally. Hold the door open for people In life. Love others unconditionally. And i promise you it will find you. Much love.

Awesome saying I have heard something similar when it comes to that it’s funny how songs bring back time it’s the lyrics to remember and remind past present and time for future things it’s always seven
true theire meaningful lyrics hit you on the spot if you can relate though.
Rainiel Palacio I feel it
"I don't know if I've ever been good enough" damn.... I feel that
this song is so good. Thanks Ken for introduce me this
Yes but don't misinterpret the song where you want to flex your macho muscles and think you can abuse a woman. That's not what the song is about at all. It's about woman from an abusive relationship who, not trusting men and an emotional train wreck going into this new relationship and projecting her paranoia and mistrust of men causing a terrible strain in the relationship and mental suffering on the part of the man, who is the one who feels abused.
My mother introduced me to bands like matchbox 20 and cranberries yesterday, and I'm pretty happy!
Potato Potato make ur mama proud man 🤙🏼
Good on Mom!!! ❤️👏🏼
How old are you? Dang I feel old :(
Variety you can not go wrong by expanding your musical taste .
Old people in Retirement homes react strongly to music .
It gets deep into our memories.

#Matchbox2021
I remember listening to this song 26 years ago when I wasn’t even in double digits age yet and I thought it was amazing. Here I an again, admiring a work of art and getting in touch with my kid self
Same man I was 9 when this came out 26 years later still some of the best lyrics I've heard and needed in my life
It's amazing how all his song touch a chord. Peace to everyone reading this.hope we can all find a balance between loving someone but not being manipulated. Peace
Totally love Matchbox Twenty20 . I've loved this group since they first started. I want to thank them for over 20 years of awesome music. Keep turning out such amazing music and I’ll keep listening. Totally your #1 fan!❤️💯
When you finally understand the lyrics of the song it's sad and empowering all in one. You gotta keep believing the one who makes you feel differently is out there somewhere.
Lol I don't think you understood. That's a cool personal interpretation, but this is about mental abuse and gaslighting. Shitty relationship basically.
@@UFOHUNT that's exactly what I was talking about. When you finally realize what you thought was love because you knew no different was nothing but being used and abused. The anger you feel is both sad and empowering at the same time. The anger at yourself for not seeing it. The anger you feel because you wasted so long questioning what you did to deserve to be treated like that. The never being able to trust when someone is being nice to you when the bottom will fall out.
The sense of empowerment is when you finally saw the cold hard truth and walked away for good. The act of breaking free is way more than the physically leaving. Again I say that somehow we gotta keep believing that somewhere there is someone who will makes us feel differently about "love"
@@monicacarmon4969 its as if you are reading my words out loud to me. Flawlessly described, so glad I’m not alone in feeling this way. In addition to that, I also experienced resentment for those who cared for me as a minor because they didn’t teach me what to look out for. If only I had known and been educated on these monsters out there that would have saved me tens of thousands of dollars and a priceless amount of heartache 😔 but it’s like nobody prepares young people with the stuff they actually NEED to know before they become an adult. Forget about passing the SAT and acing calculus, WE NEED STREET SMARTS!
That love is within us ❤️
It's a song about an abusive woman... Just throwing it out there
