Lyrics:
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo
I'm packed and I'm holding, I'm smiling
She's living, she's golden, she lives for me
Says she lives for me
Ovation, her own motivation
She comes 'round and she goes down on me
And I make her smile like a drug for you
Do ever what you want to do, coming over you
Keep on smiling what we go through
One-stop to the rhythm that divides you
And I speak to you like the chorus to the verse
Chop another line like a coda with a curse
Come on like a freak show, takes the stage
We give them the games we play, she say
I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life, baby, baby
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Goodbye
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo
The sky was gold, it was rose
I was taking sips up into my nose
And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there
Smiling in the pictures you would take
Doing crystal meth will lift you up until you break
It won't stop, I won't come down, I keep stock
With a tick-tock rhythm, a bump for the drop
And then I bumped up, I took the hit that I was given
Then I bumped again, then I bumped again, I said
How do I get back there
To the place where I fell asleep inside you?
How do I get myself back to
The place where you said
I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life, baby, baby
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Goodbye
I believe in the sand beneath my toes
The beach gives a feeling, an earthy feeling
I believe in the faith that grows
And the four right chords can make me cry
When I'm with you I feel like I could die
And that would be alright, alright
And when the plane came in, she said she was crashing
The velvet it rips in the city
We tripped on the urge to feel alive
But now I'm struggling to survive
Those days you were wearing that velvet dress
You're the priestess, I must confess
Those little red panties, they pass the test
So slide up 'round the belly face down on the mattress
And I want something else
To get me through this life, baby
I want something else
Not listening when you say
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
The sky was gold, it was rose
I was taking sips up into my nose
And I wish I could get back there, someplace back there
In the place, we used to start our lives
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
(I want something else)

With hits like “Semi-Charmed Life”, “Jumper”, “How’s It Going To Be” and more, Third Eye Blind’s fresh take on alternative rock has delighted listeners everywhere since 1993. In recent years the band’s popularity has only grown with their most recent tour-Summer Gods-breaking their previous attendance records. During this 2019 tour the band donated a portion of the revenue from each ticket sold to off-set their carbon footprint in partnership with ClimeCo.
Of their latest full album, Screamer, lead singer Stephan Jenkins said: “My current mood resonates with rebellion, energy, courage, and risk.” Adding that “I seek to combine it with a percussive level of musical immediacy in this collection of songs to cultivate collective idealism and an unapologetic aspiration towards humanistic values.”

Hands down!
Drugs and sex

Dear God. Please take me back to the 90's. I was a kid and both my parents were still alive. I'd do anything to go back and enjoy just how special my childhood was.
thats rough buddy
The past has a purpose as well as the present and the future. Take the present as a gift. Your parents wanted you to have a flourishing life, so use their memory as the motivation to appreciate life. And maybe try to give someone else a bit of what your parents gave you.
You can never go back...but we're all here together reminiscing of better days. Do you still have any of your old Jncos? lol!
Same !!! My simpatie
I was only 1 when this song came out. But RIP to your parents.

This song takes me back to ‘97. Twelve years old, living in a small town, riding my bike everywhere, my CD walkman, basketball after school, sleep overs at Greg’s house playing Resident Evil, going to the movies on my own every weekend. Happiest time of my life.

Maybe because it was released in 1997.
Ummm...yeah... It's crazy how a 90's song sounds like a 90s song. Mind blowing even.
@TCT By all means, elaborate or allow him to speak for himself, even though that isn't needed for this conversation. "This has “90’s” written all over it." is pretty self-explanatory. He is saying that this song depicts the 90s perfectly; it's written all over it (also known as a figure of speech). What's funny is that you're the one that can't follow along, and even worse, you thought it was a roast. Maybe I should have said "sounds/looks" to be 100% precise for your honorable. Then again, you're the same idiot that looked at his comment and felt like saying "Also crystal meth." By all means, continue your mission to think you're educating others on what the song is about. lol On the bright side, I'm the only idiot that even bothered to respond to you, so you're welcome. You got your chance to talk with someone. Speaking of being confidently wrong though...
@TCT lmao
I was a crystal meth addict for 6 years, and after relapse after relapse and finally jail and rehab I'm almost 1 year sober. I can truly listen to this song and appreciate its bittersweet message.

This came out the spring of 97 played all summer I was in high school had my very first boyfriend & no cell phones , we walked to meet in the middle of the night. My bf looked like this guy too. I remember stopping & thinking it's never going to be this good again. That was the only time I ever did that . To say this Is the best time of my life. Take me back to the 90s. Before 9/11 before cell phones, social media & life was so fun & easy. I'm aware I sound like my parents talking about the 70s. I only hope when my kids are teens they can feel this way about their youth.
My thoughts exactly. We were that rare mini-generation that saw the world before and after cellphones/social media and everything they brought.
♥️
Natalie Panaro Stack: Well stated. It really was a great time.
I can agree. I want to go back to early 2000’a at least. And I was born in ‘02! It was just so much more fun and simpler back then without all the social media everywhere
Sadly kids these days will never know these kind of simple times. I can’t imagine in 20 years people longing for those great Face tattooed rappers of their youth
We are going to need great songs like this to get us all through the life we are experiencing today.

A lot of people keep saying this song is super upbeat to be talking about something so depressing, but it’s actually very very fitting for it to be “happy sounding” because when you’re on meth even if things are super shitty it’ll still feel fine and dandy and with the almost rapping for the verses are also fitting because people on meth tend to talk fast and have racing thoughts like this song is actually really fitting for the topic in my opinion lol

I mean, even in my late 30s, I never became some addict of wever. But I won't lie. I have dabbled in some things, that started in my early twenties. I thought most ppl have 🧐. ... like, you're prob lucky if you're not an addict. Bc I know damn well drug use is pretty damn high in the us. But in my late teens? I prob just picked up on context. But never, even to this day, bothered to look that in depth into it. Conveniently, I've never made meth a steady habit. Smoked & snorted it once. Smoking it was a way the better route. Bc the other way, had me up for f'n days & nights, hallucinating. But those were also my last time. 🤷🏻♀️ Not to redirect my bs, but it's kinda funny/sad/naive to hear certain kids talk about things now tho ... & I thought I gave ppl too much credit. .. drugs don't discriminate is all I hafta say. Like, I can't even taint them like that. But welcome to the real world... Good luck w/ that!!!

“Smells like teen spirit” says hello you asshole

I’m glad I grew up with third eye, Green Day, smashing pumpkins, everclear, blink 182, semisonic and all the great of the 90’s. I’m born in the 80’s btw. Cheers to all from the 80’s. 🍺 good ol’ times ainnit?
1990s❤❤❤
I'd be honored if some 90s fans would take a quick listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of NEVER LET YOU GO by Third Eye Blind and 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins in tribute to 2 of the most iconic bands of the mid/late 90s era. Live acoustic with no digital editing. Peace out & stay safe in the '020s.
I really do listen to this at least 3x a day, still ❤
TAKES ME BACK EVERY TIME. BITTERSWEET FEELING. I MISS THE GOOD OL DAYS. I heard this song all the time as a kid, never would have predicted that from 16-18 I’d be a heroin addict. I’m 25 now, been sober since 19, & I can truly appreciate this song. 90’s-2000’s WERE SOME SPECIAL ASS TIMES!
Good for you, sister! You made it out alive.
Great to hear your clean from the Drugs and that Lifestyle. Best wishes for the future keep living your best life.👍

Stephan Jenkins, respectfully, You’re not ugly ❤
Today marks 25 years from this debut album on April 8, 1997. I had to take off the CD and listening while drive at work, a lot of memories and nostalgy from these amazing years. Thanks 3EB!!!

Thanks for the date. Believe it or not, it's April 8, 2023 today! 😮😮👏👏😍

I feel like this was in every late 90's High School movie trailer.
RIGHT?! I was thinking the SAME thing.
Yup. Their song Graduate was in a 90's teen trailer too
This song was in a lot of things but not very many 90’s high school movies. Stuff like that was reserved for blink 182, sum41, etc.
Takes me back to my high school years. Class 1999. 👍🏻👍🏻
@glowramia Third Eye Blind Semi-Charmed Life is one of my favorite song
Yup same here, class of 99. At the time I was not a fan of this but now I can rock out to it!
Highschool, first kiss, first concert, first crowdsurf, seen them about 15 times over the years, nostalgia right here...
I swear Third Eye Blind always takes me back to a much more simple time. Love these guys

Moi ! également.
Me too 😢
This song sounds still amazing today! It came from their first album. And this debut album is one of my favorite in all of my CD collections from 90's. Timeless! Since my old CD stereo was broken, I haven't found the chance to play them again!
1998 - 8th grade.
This song played on the radio every day, literally every day, while I rode the school bus to and from school.
It's now permanently etched in my memory as a result. Thankfully it's a good song.
Well, it might sound like a happy, easy-going song,
but it's actually about doing drugs etc…
which is kinda fucked up… when you pay attention to the lyrics...
Kev27RS. You are drugs kev.
SwankBanker.
No it's a bad song, it's about drugs. just kidding.
1998 I was 6 years old. I got this CD in 1999. I still have it.
At least you were lucky to have decent music being played on your school bus. My bus driver made us listen to country music to and from school. lol.
I didn't realize this song was a bout meth until I started reading the comments
Lol same xD
I feel like a curious cat listening to music

If there’s a more 90’s pop rock song I don’t know what it is
Had to come back to listen to this after I heard it in my dream last night
