Take a Picture - Lyrics by Richard Patrick
Awake on my airplane Awake on my airplane
My skin is bareMy skin is theirs
Awake on my airplane Awake on my airplane My skin is bare
My skin is theirsI feel like newborn
And I feel like a newbornAwake on my airplane
Awake on my airplaneI feel so real
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Yeah
    I don't believe inI don't believe in
    Your sanctity your privacy
    I don't believe in I don't believe in
    Sanctity a hypocrisy
Could everyone agree that no one should be left alone
Could everyone agree that they should not be left alone, yeah
And I feel like a newborn And I feel like a newborn
    Kicking and screaming
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Could you take my picture
    Cause I won't remember
    Yeah
Hey Dad what do you think about your son now?

This song hit radios a month before my best friend committed suicide. We were 18; he died 10/7/1999. I was always afraid I'd forget his face, his voice, his smell. I haven't.
RIP Jymm... ❤ You'll never be 'left alone' and we have the pictures to remember. You live on in the hearts of many.

My dad told me the story of what this song meant to him, my dad had never met his biological father until 2006, I was born in 1999 right after this song came out. When my parents drove home with me for the first time, this song was playing on the radio and my dad had never heard it yet. While this song was playing he was thinking about how his father would be feeling about being a grandpa and then the lyrics “Hey dad, what do you think about your son now?” played. He said he got goosebumps and started to cry, a mixture of joy and sadness of not knowing how his dad would feel about him, would he be proud? Happy? Supportive of his own boy having his first child? He said he’ll never forget that moment until he’s dead and gone. That story always struck home to me and made me think that maybe some things, even music, are meant for certain moments in time, like that moment right there. Thank you Filter for making a beautiful and soul warming song for us all to forever remember.

Underrated comment. Tears in my eyes reading this. That's one of the most beautiful things I've read in awhile--especially, "[that] story always struck home to me and made me think that maybe some things, even music, are meant for certain moments in time, like that moment right there." Well said, and beyond relatable!

I was a senior in high school when this came out and it blew me away. Listening to it late into the night. When you're a teenager you can only wonder about the world and what it will be like. You see endless possibilities. My imagination would run wild. I loved this song. Hearing it again makes me miss those times dearly. Your teenage years are a trip. Things are different now. Growing up has its pros and it has its cons. Cherish your youth. Be kind to people.

I can so relate to what you said! I dreamed of becoming a radio DJ when I was in my late teens, and I would set up at night, like you, and dream about all the stations I could jock at. I would listen to my songs and just let my imagination run wild about how famous and successful I would become!!! At night in the 🏜 desert, I could pick up a station in Oklahoma City, and, years later, I ended up working there!! Yes, I imagined it and it happened!!! I'm retired now, 52 years old, and what a trip it's been!!!! But, how I wanna go back and be 16 again, and dream those dreams, and have all the wonderful things and beautiful ladies ahead of me instead of behind me....
      Time goes way,way too fast...
This song takes me back to those dream filled desert nights, when anything was possible and getting older happened to everyone else.....

It's about the circle of life. Reincarnation. Take a picture cause i won't remember.

I listened to this song many times through high school. I can still feel the fun, young excitement, fear, uncertainty, loneliness, and so many other emotions from this song, specifically as soon as he sings “could you take my picture bc I won’t remember…” with that trippy auto tune, it’s like a time warp into other time periods. Brings me right back. Such a beautiful classic now

I'm an old goat at 56, but I lived through some of the best music in every format, starting with lp's till now, I always tell my young friends, to always keep an opened mind when it comes to music, just because you get older doesn't mean you have to change to what you listen to, stay true to your love of music, and you'll always be young

We were blessed to have been able to listen to and see in concert so many great and talented musicians. It is also sad to have witnessed the tragic deaths of so much talent. Here's to our generation, The MTV Generation! The REAL 1st MTV that is! ~LuLu~

This video is such a perfect depiction of how depression and adhd make me feel - like I’m underwater and nothing is quite attainable. This song came out the year before my boyfriend killed himself and I remember hearing it shortly after his death and it just hit so hard 💔 he did not live up to his dads expectations either :(

I saw these guys in Iraq while deployed back in 2010. Richard wasn't really feeling the crowd. I wasn't really supposed to be at the show, but I'd been a fan for nearly a decade. I remember before this song was played, he gave a little insight on what it meant to him.
At the end of the show, I stayed for the autograph. I was pushing it by then, but I really wanted to meet the band. I recall laughing at how giddy everyone was. Then it was my turn. I looked Richard right in the eyes and I froze for what seemed like forever. He asked me if I was alright. I was speechless. Completely awestruck. He came around and gave me a big hug and signed a photo for me.
I'll never forget that day. I've since lost the photo, but I'll always have the memory.

"Since I can't think for myself, I'm following the herd, fighting for the most likes with the other 30 million uncreative ppl who all ask this same, stupid as hell comment that's on LITERALLY EVERY GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCKING VIDEO!! Please like"
"Even though 475 ppl have written this EXACT SAME comment, I will too! Like my comment 1st"
"If I only had a brain."
"Hey, hey look at me! Im going to continue leaving these wonderful comments that everyone loves so much, every single month and yr.. maybe even every day"
"Help! In need of serious attention"...
Anything else would be great really! Goes for everyone else reading this too

I was born in ‘92. My childhood was horrific, but I still love the 90s. The music, the aesthetic, the connectedness of us all. It was sincere, creative, and innocent. Since the Internet and social media have become mainstream, we’ve all lost that connection. Talk to someone today. Genuinely, honestly, and deeply.

me too, even though I'm a Metalhead, there are songs that kinda remind me of past stuff, the night before i was grocery shopping after work around 1am after a really long day and they were playing this song, it was crazy, went to the checkout line, really pretty young blond was the cashier, maybe 19 or 20, not realizing that i totally aged myself, i'm almost 40! there was 2 girls actually, one was the bagger probably a little older, i just commented that the store was playing songs i haven't heard in like 15 or so years, and late '99 to 2000 was kind of a changing time for me, my kinda "party" days were sort of winding down, had relationship changes, got fired from my first job i had for 3 years, got into a bad car wreck that same day! kinda in limbo for while towards the end of that year, didn't know what was coming, had a in between job that sucked, didn't pay worth shit, ended up getting a job right before 2000, had to work and odd job during Christmas time, started that job in January, with that schedule, didn't get to hang around my friends like had been and ended for a while with a whole new group of people so it definitely was a big transition time, so to hear a song like this again, which played on the radio all the time back then! it was interesting, amazing considering i've been a Filter fan, never cared for there stuff before, sorry to say, i hated that song "Hey Man, Nice Shot" thought it was terrible! but this one was really cool song, this is a long comment i know but it just brought a lot of forgotten stuff back, a lot has happened since then for me and the world in general, seems like for some reason songs from the 90's till '01 seems to hold more water than stuff now popular wise, stuff today is almost forgettable as soon as you hear it, this one definitely has that too it, well that's all i got😉

    • @harryzimmerman7991
      @harryzimmerman7991 7 лет назад +7

meant it definitely has that nostalgia vibe to it that a lot of stuff today doesn't, and too bad for me it wasn't still 1999, i woulda tried to get the know the little blond cashier and her friend a little better, have some fun😉
